The story is very well written and there is historical pieces throughout which keeps things interesting and immersive. The gameplay experience is also a very immersive experience and when each different mechanic combines it is without a doubt a joy to play. What the game has in an abundance is realism. For the most part enjoyed it, but I admit that the realism can be a bit over the top at times and this can harm the "fun factor" at certain times. The realism when it comes to the combat is something I felt was spot on. The combat is adrenaline filled and the excitement of it is present throughout. This makes the game have a unique feel over other game’s in the same genre. In terms of content, the game has plenty to offer you. The best thing is that none of the content is boring because the world feels alive at every turn. The game doesn’t suffer with very many issues and my only real gripe comes down to the technical issues. Every now and then you will notice a few problems and while none of these are major they can be irritating at times. Without a doubt one of my favorite parts about the game is the presentation side of it. Visually the game looks absolutely stunning at times, and the world has definitely had a lot of thought and effort put into it. The soundtrack is also just as well done and the music and voice acting really deliver an immersive experience. Kingdom Come: Deliverance was worth the wait. All important aspects that make a successful RPG are present, and this creates an enjoyable experience that keeps on giving throughout your time with the game. Expand

To list some cons: I must say that boxing is not my strongest thing and also the "saving liquor" just sucks having to have that for Xbox. Not really too casual-player friendly. Also the lockpicking minigame sucks :)

The setting is wonderful, the story is simple but effective and the development of the character is rich. I would give it 9/10 without the technical side, but adding it it goes down to 7. I still recommend it. Expand

With such a comparably small budget to larger companies, warhorse has created a masterpiece. Definitely worth a buy if you like history, hardcore games, survival games, rpgs or melee combat.

What an excellent game! I can't remember liking a game this much since Fallout series. I'm almost 100 hours in and I'm completely addicted. This game is a combination of the atmosphere of Runescape, the RPG elements of Fallout, and real history.

COMBAT: The combat is amazing! Most games just give the enemy a ton of HP and more damage to make them harder while giving you less HP and dealing less damage. Bullet sponges. Warhorse studios made a real fighting system which takes skill and training to get good at, and the better enemies are good fighters and have good armor, which is how a game should be! The only way to beat them is to be good with your weapon which takes time! The other option, which has never crossed my mind in other games, is to flee. There is so much satisfaction when you finally get good.

PACING: I love that you start off as a nobody instead of some master class knight or a king. In the beginning, you are good at absolutely nothing and the only way to level up your skills are to do those things, forcing you to utilize every element of the game that you want to improve on. This makes leveling up fun and rewarding, even for trivial skills like "reading" and "pickpocketing." This game does not baby you, and treats you like the intelligent person that you are.

STORY: This game basically stays true to Czech / Polish history and makes it so much more immersive. I really liked the story and while some side quests were 'fetchy,' most weren't and it was full of interesting content. Best part is this is one of the few game studios who don't give in to the PC police / SJW journalists, and it shows. So many game journalists saying the game isn't "diverse" enough for them... they can shove it. I felt like I was in 13th century Europe and it's a beautiful experience seeing how people lived back then.

There's a lot more I could say about this game but this review is long enough. There are some bugs and glitches, and a few mechanics that are a bit off (i.e. animal AI, horse mechanics, etc.) but just remember that this game was a kickstarter by a very small group who ended up creating a AAA experience. Definitely buy the game if you haven't already. It's one of the best games I've ever played.

Specifically, playing KCD (at least at the moment of writing, it may improve with time and patching) is basically the same as when player character Henry of Skalitz walks into a town covered in a layer of dirt, sweat, and blood, and most people find this none too appealing.

Imagine that the blood, sweat, and dirt on Henry are the bugs and jarring graphical issues on an otherwise excellent RPG. This is where I am at right now. Specifically with the release of the 1.3 patch, this game has become sadly unplayable due to graphical errors. Think pop-in, the kind that destroys a game based on realism because it pulls you out of any sense of immersion when basic textures on buildings and NPCs don't load for tens of seconds after you approach within 10 meters of them.

Add to this a molasses-slow framerate with jarringly noticeable stutter and the gareden-variety bugs you'll find in any RPG this size, and I have to recommend a 'wait-and-see' posture to this game. And that kills me to say, because under all these technical issues is a remarkably well executed RPG for a brand new studio.

If they fix the bugs, pop-in, and framerate issues, I'd happily give this game a 9/10. Until that time, I can't in good conscience rate it any higher than a 6.5/10.

+Fun cutscenes, and many of them too. Alot of jokes and silly scenarios makes you think: "oh yes!! another cutscene! hope it's a long one!!"
    +Realism.*Explained below*

    Cons:
-A few bugs here and there, but a reload of the save will fix. Such as not being able to leave a room cuz the door have bugged and is now too much to the right/left so you can't leave.
-Every single bush is a nuisance cuz they stop you in your tracks. There are TONS of bushes. ALOT.
-Sometimes cutscenes dont play cuz you enter the room/cave from NOT the
perfect angle, so you end up missing entire dialogues. But you dont know you've missed them unless you happen to have loaded your save before the cutscene and then randomly get a cutscene your second time visiting.
-No lag, but a bit of lost frames here and there. Very minor.
-Almost constant rain. It's a poorly made rain effect and it rains almost ALL THE TIME.

I love open world games like the Witcher, Gothic and Risen series. Skyrim too ofc. Is this better? Or as good? No I don't think so. But its close to being AS GOOD as those games.

    Realism explained:
If you're not an in-game leveled up fighter then YOU -the IRL person- will be put of fighting cuz fights will drag on and you will die and have to reload save quite alot of times untill you luck out completely and beat the enemy with your crap weaponry/dmg output. If you're not a thief you will think lockpicking -your actual IRL PLAYER SKILL is lacking- is super difficult and you won't get very far in the thievery world. ETC.

I like that system alot, it's a fresh take on the immersion of your character. For instance, I like to talk alot so I usually have someone else do my fighting. Whenever possible, which is almost always. So I've been able to keep the fighting to a bare minimum. Not many games alow you this much immersion.

Cons: There are some minor bug issues, and graphics problems where patterns don't load properly or the layering of patterns gets messed up. The sound also causes some issues because it sounds like the voice recording was done in different environments. The actual sound quality changes on occasion, even from line-to-line with the same actors. My biggest gripe about this game though is directly related to one of the things I love about it. The complex game systems are amazing, but I don't think they are explained in enough detail. Since these mechanics are so different from a standard video game, there should be a focus on giving players some time to learn these skills. Even using a progressive difficulty system would be extremely helpful. I also wish the codex was more detailed about quest objectives and tasks.

Overall, it's a really fun game, and a really great framework for an RPG title. Very ambitious undertaking by such a small, new studio, but I think there is definitely room for improvement. Hopefully these things will be fixed with patches!

Specifically alchemy and a few quests (I'm looking at you monastery)

Other reviews seem to focus on two negatives: difficulty and combat. In almost all cases, the games missions are difficult because the developers want you to find an intelligent way to complete the quest and really think about what you are doing, therefore forcing you to invest yourself in the plot and characters. This applies to the saves as well (although I would understand the developer putting in an optional regular auto save). The combat has been called clunky and boring. I simply disagree completely. When you first start, getting a grip on the combat mechanism is challenging yet enjoyable and the feeling when you land a hit or get your first kill is incredibly satisfying. Once you have grasped the basics you can start stringing strikes together for combos or utilising a variety of historically accurate techniques to quickly eliminate enemies. After a while you will find yourself taking on multiple armoured opponents at once and this is when you really feel like a some sort of sword fighting god.

To round it all up; immersive world, cosy atmosphere, satisfying combat and gripping story. However bug fixes and mechanism tweaks are a must.

The Lock-picking mechanic definitely needs a minor tweak on consoles. Its not a hardcore RPG like some would have you believe. The game mechanic's are deep and combat can be a bit tricky at first but it's no harder to play thru then the Witcher 3, casuals might have a harder time but when don't they? You do have to be mindful of your actions cause you don't get do-overs and it only autosaves before or after quests so you might miss certain opportunities if your not careful . I finished the 6 hour tutorial and started over again just to have a better start and do a few things i missed my first play thru. It's definitely worth the full price. The developer seem to be working hard on patches/updates(3 in the first week, miles ahead of Bathesda) so I wouldn't worry about the handful of bugs some of you are experiencing, that's most games nowadays.

I will write a better review once I finish Playing

I had an issue with the game and the developers got back with me quickly and helped to diagnose the issue and correct it.
Give the game a chance, the developers are working hard on getting all the issues fixed promptly.

This game is not for everyone. It truly depends on what type of gameplay you as a gamer enjoy. So far from the people I've met and from the reviews I've read, people either love this game or hate it. Having said that most of the issues people have with the game appear to be extremely minor when compared to it peers, i.e. other RPGS, or extremely exaggerated.

Saving: No you can not save anytime anywhere you wish without a savior schnapps potion. At first this did appear to be annoying, but at best a nuisance, not a deal breaker. However after playing the game for a bit I discovered that there are plenty of places in the game to save so much so that I haven't purchased or brewed one since the archery competition with Hans. For instance, spend two gold at an Inn. Thirty seconds of picking sage will pay for that. Fast travel to the Millers where you wake up in after the prologue you can save there and store items in the trunk their free of charge whenever you wish. The room where Henry and Lady Stephanie have a glass of wine always stays open and you can sleep there and stow your items in the trunk there as well. These are just an example of a few but their are places all over.

Lock picking: I'll admit this one extremely frustrated me, so much so that I moved on from it entirely at first. It took alot of grinding and effort to understand the mechanic. Alot of outside game research as well. It has been patched as of two weeks ago and is now way way way easier. But once again it wasn't a deal breaker. Difficult sure, but wasn't impossible and took a good hour of in game time to master. There is definitely a technique to it which is quite complex and takes a bit to learn.

First move your cursor until it turns yellow.
Second put the Left joystick at roughly the 11 o clock position
Third rotate the joystick counter clockwise
Fourth as it rotates use the right joystick to keep the yellow circle in roughly the same spot.
Fifth VIBRATION IS KEY the less it vibrates the closer your are to that yellow sweet spot
Sixth doors out in town will be way easier to pick. Practice on very easy doors until you get your first perk doubling the effectiveness of your picks

Combat: you have to practice. If you're expecting to take down three armed bandits at once in the start of the game, you're gonna get your buns handed to you. It's not Skyrim. Some people find this realistic aspect annoying, but they forget it's not that type of game. You have to think outside the box especially at the start. Sneak around knock out a bandit steal his gear then slash him while he's unconscious. Poison the camp. Do night raids. Bows are your friends. Eventually four vs one will not be that difficult, but in the start get creative.

Really I haven't had too many issues in the game and it hasn't been that difficult. Granted I did not buy the game on release so there is a chance I could have already been playing a patched version, however I don't think that's the case.

The real issue with the game is nothing is really explained that well, you're kind of just thrown into this world and have to learn either from trial and error or outside sources. Nothing is given easily everything is earned. It at times can be grinding and frustrated but that's life, and I think that's what they were going for. Try getting in a fight with four guys in the woods today and see how it goes. Trying picking up a lock and pick and see how well you do.

I've been using metacritic for years and have never felt the need to create an account / review a game. This game changed that because I HAD to join my voice to the well deserved praise being given to this game.

    Things the game does perfectly:

    Story
This story is one of the most compelling and interesting I have seen in years. It made me want to finish the main quest as soon as I could because I kept wanting to find out what would happen to Henry and how Sir Radzig, Sir Hanush, and Sir Divish would beat Sigismund. It is utterly historically faithful and I have been wanting somebody to do a game like this for years.

Voice acting FOR THE MAIN CHARACTERS.
Each of the main characters, over 40+ hours of gameplay, have perfectly delivered lines. Not a single instance of phoning it in. However, the same unfortunately cannot be said for the generic NPCs.

    Combat
It's simply perfect. I always felt I was responsible for my success or failure. I learned as the game went on and it was so incredibly satisfying to get better at fighting and with that learning / increase in strength and agility to be able to use new and more effective weapons.

    World Design
The world is massive, gorgeous, and relatively full. For an indie game it's beyond impressive. Even if you stray to the edge of the map you'll still come across game to hunt, or a hidden bandit camp, or a random npc with a new quest. It feels at the same time authentic and lively.

    Quest Variety
Each main quest and side quest has a unique and compelling story to it, which leads to unique and fun scenarios. It's not a typical rpg where ~40% of your quests are fetch quests, ~10% escort missions, etc... Each quest is different, which keeps the game from ever getting boring.

    Saving
Probably what people **** about the most, but I think the system is brilliant. It makes you consider your actions before just rushing in head first. Also while Savior Schnapps are expensive to buy, google and youtube are free. Simply grab some belladonna and nettle from the woods, go to an alchemy station, and make your own. It's cheap and you can make as much as you want / save when you want. The game also saves when you get a whore at the baths, and after gaining the Troubadour perk this gives you a free way to save basically whenever you want.

    Things done well.

    Fast travel.
A really unique system with a cool idea. I personally enjoy watching the character move. I even enjoy the random encounters. However I wish there was some way to lessen / temporarily deactivate them, such as a potion. Sometimes you just want to use the fast travel loading time to take a piss but you have to wait till Henry gets where he's going, otherwise you risk getting ambushed.

    Level Design
This would be in the perfect category if not for one flawed main quest mission that I will get to. When warhorse said every quest can be finished in whatever way you want to, they meant it. It was enjoyable 99% of the time because it allowed me to progress according to my play style. However there is one big downfall. The mission where you infiltrate the monastery (while such a cool idea) fails in practice because the only way to trigger the progression of the quest is behind a chest with a hard lock. As a brawler who could kill anybody Henry met in the game, with relatively few points in stealth and none in lock picking, my game ground to a halt and I had to load from before I went into the monastery. My choices were spending hours grinding to upgrade my lock picking skill, or glitch into the monastery by falling into the court yard, almost dying, drinking a Lazarus potion, then killing Pious and being imprisoned for murder. I chose this option and had to miss out on a very interesting quest. Warhorse, there is an easy fix to this. If the chest is mandatory to unlock, make it a "very easy" lock.

Things that could be done better.

    Bugs/Glitches.
Yes there's a lot of them. Personally none of them were game breaking for me. My game crashed twice over 40+ hours of game play, which is a completely forgivable rate of incidence for an indie game. However the collision detection needs a fair amount of work. The workable solution Warhorse has now is if you sprint you'll simply go through whatever/whoever is blocking Henry (that shouldn't be). But unfortunately that doesn't work as well on horseback. I'm not sure why bushes act like roadblocks instead of easily being trampled across, but the game is only version 1.2.5, Warhorse should prioritize collision detection both on foot and horseback for version 1.3. Additionally, you can often use the glitches to your advantage.

    Money
The ONLY way to reliably get decent gear is to buy it, and Henry earns next to nothing. The game makes you steal / fence, which is fine. BUT PLEASE DO NOT PATCH THE BUGS THAT MAKE STEALING EASY TO DO.

TL;DR: Please warhorse, this game was so close to perfect. Polish it post release & make DLC/a sequel

Kingdom Come is an open world RPG but not one that youre used to.
Here you play as Henry, the blacksmiths boy who has a taste for adventure and combat…
Youre a noob to both and this game does a great job of making you feel just as such.
This game is set during mideval times in the holy roman empire.
Though don’t let the setting fool you, this isn’t some dorky dungeons and dragons skyrim nonsense.
Just kidding I love skyrim.. but the other bit I wasn’t kidding about
This game focuses on realism and is a much more compact adventure..
Think less skyrim and withcer and think more assassins creed meets for honor
The world is big and beautiful like your mom…
But this isn’t a world that was built to explore, it was built to look beautiful and feel real, and it does so perfectly…
The revenge story here takes about 20 hours to complete but the time you put into this games world will determine your experience with this story…
This game can be whatever you like..
You can go out, learn combat, plunder villiages for their food and ritches, go after the finest weapons and armors, or you can be noble and play this game with honor, only killing when you have to.. which the game does a great job of pushing you more towards this because of how difficult this game actually is to master… excluding this games final mission I probably only killed maybe 5 or 6 enemies my entire playthrough…
Youre not thrown into battles or dangerous situations… you have to seek them…
And seeking them isn’t all too wise, as dying in this game can mean losing hours of progress, especially if youre not sticking to the story
Sleeping in a bed you own and completing quests is the only time this game autosaves.. the rest is up to you..
And the drinks that allow you to save any time youd like are rare. Though ive heard world the developers are back petaling on this decision.
My experience was more of a im a naïve kid doing what I have to to get an important sword back that was taken from me.. and other things…
getting into trouble planning my escape when no one would let me out of the castle…, getting drunk with a priest and then having to deliver a sermon in his place in the morning
ringing some bells in the bell towers if you know what im saying,
Go on a hunting trip with spoiled royalty
I didn’t choose to go out into the world and become a warrior and this was fine…
    I wasn’t punished for this..
And playing this way made me not have to worry about this games hunger and energy mehcnaics… id fast travel to an area I know, sleep for a night and get some food from the pot in the morning and continue through the story…
though this games very final story mission will definitely require you to have decent combat knowledge and gear
Combat I found very frustrating at the beginning, which makes sense for your character, but slowly I got the hang of it, if attacking in different directions, timing my blacks, mixing up my stabs and slashes, I felt like I was a deadly dancer and I was…
enemies that used to mean im going to die turned into, you better have a nice reward on you for me to loot for you wasting my time in this forest like you are right now.
But multiple enemies will always give you trouble, again this is no skyrim.. no magic, no super powerful attacks or weapons.. its pure combat..
And as far as other gear goes you can pick it off of enemies or save up some cash to buy..
However you do have to keep your armour nice and clean, take baths everyonce in a while if you want to charm the people of this world. As how you look, smell, and act will effect how people treat you.
Theres also a leveling system in the background that allows you to build up some perks like being able to carry more items.. but again realism… youll only have the necessitites on you… the rest goes to your horse to sell later…
This was an overall really great experience however, I dealt with basically a game breaking bug for the majority of the game…
As there was a character that wouldn’t stop following.. he would knock me out of my sleeping and waiting.. it was annoying and frustrating, I would have to get on my horse wait for him to catch up to me and ride back to a bed for example to get a little sleep to get my health back, or even to talk to npcs… as he would break those interactions as well…
Easily the most annoying bug in the game, especially considering I dealt with it for 7 of this games 13 main quests…
But the most heart breaking thing about this game is that its performance on the ps4 during the final mission practically makes it unplayable..
if you try to get into the mix the game stutters and your character is thrown all over the place and if you don’t have the best gear or weapons, youre really going to need luck to get through to the credits..
It’s a shame my final tastes with this game were sour

I wanted to love this game - I do not and I wish I had my $60 back. The scenery is beautiful but some of the game mechanics (and some bugs) make the experience tedious. There aren't enough pretty trees to make it worth the time.

Pros: world looks great, voice acting good (but voice-to-mouth-movement is not good). Story is semi-interesting but family-killed, learn-to-fight, get-revenge trope is nothing new.

    Cons:
    * Bugs - crashes and getting stuck on bushes (especially bushes near fences) and reloading. This would be a minor nuisance but they are actually a huge waste of time because ...

    * Game save options are terrible. Expect to re-do many hours. Hint: Sleep often - even if you are doing a longish mission because if you die or the game crashes, you may be doing the whole mission again. The 'realism' argument falls flat as you can drink schnapps to save your game at any time (but it costs tons of moolah).

    * Map design was interesting at first but the pseudo-historical artwork just gets old and reduces readability.

    * Loading - this game loads frequently even when there's no reason the player should know it's happening - a black screen after doing certain things.

    * Fast travel is not fast and you're stuck watching your toon icon slide around on a cartoonish map.

    * Cut screen videos - lots of them. you can do nothing to skip them or speed them up (except for story parts). Have to watch yourself bend over for flowers, watch your own face when speaking with a person, and look at your feet when going to sleep - every freaking time. Thankfully you can loot bodies without an annoying cut screen.

    * Combat - you aren't a trained fighter at first but Henry shoots a bow like a 6 year old girl. Melee combat is better but clunky and suffers badly from a delay in actions. You will get killed - hopefully you don't have to reload an hour back. Get all the training you can but know that even the training damages you and your gear. Oh, and though you are told to keep moving, you can't dodge correctly if you do.

Again, I wanted this game to be good but it is not (hopefully Deep Silver can fix most of these issues). I love open world RPGs. After about 30+ hours in KC:D, I'm going to go back to one of the good ones; Skyrim, Fallout 4, or Witcher 3. If you want a challenging but still FUN 'hardcore RPG' experience, try Fallout 4 on Survival mode.

A stuggish over complicated combat system that makes you slower than basically everyone you end up fighting and adds a bunch of extra stupid steps to what should be a streamlined system. "Powerful" attacks with long swords literally take like 2 seconds each and are effortlessly blocked by almost all enemies making combat take FOREVER.

Utterly unresponsive controls. Try to run from an enemy during combat and you'll run straight ahead being unable to turn until you stop or run into something. Trying to attack an open enemy? Watch your guy hold his sword above his head like a retard instead as you mash RT. Trying to dodge with the stupid dodge feature? Not likely, AI doesn't have that problem though. Trying to run somewhere? Well I hope you like straight lines because the idiot you control forgets how to move as soon as he starts running. Trying to counter an attack? Not going to happen.

Completely one sided and unfair combat. You rarely run into singular enemies they usually come in packs of at least 3 which with the stupid snail paced 1V1 combat system that barely works makes most encounters a freaking death sentence because they will all attack together and most of them seem to have unlimited stamina as well whereas you're always running out of breath.

Seemingly endless glitches. I have had to reload save games 3 times now to fix glitched quests and i'm constantly having hostile and non hostile NPCs spawn right in front of me in addition to numerous texture load in issues and other random crap and shop keepers will regularly have no money or inventory too.

Stupid overly complicated skills. Lock picking starts off easy but once you get to a "normal" difficulty lock it becomes a complete pain in the ass. Pickpocketing is worthless as well and both will get you arrested.

Psychic villagers. You can literally kill someone with no witnesses anywhere near a village and they'll somehow know it was you.

Getting searched for stolen goods constantly in cities. Even when you're in the army you'll still be randomly searched and even if what you had stolen was from the other side of the planet they'll magically know it was stolen and take it.

Having to buy saves. You heard me right you have to buy potions before you can save otherwise you have to find a bed to make an autosave and they cost 80-90 gold each.

Everything is stolen. Kill a guy on one side of the map and try to sell his generic gear on the other side and the shop keepers will whine about it being stolen. Even raw meat is considered stolen for crying out loud.

Items despawn as soon as they're out of sight so don't drop anything you don't want to lose.

There's no aiming reticle for bows.

The AI does stup crap like making enemies and allies walk around aimlessly or stand still during combat.

This game as it is is a barely functioning walking simulator because the combat which is SUPPOSED to. be the heart of the game is complete crap. This game should NOT have been released in this condition.

Bugs and an AWFUL save game mechanic ruin what would otherwise be a very solid and hardcore RPG. I just got a refund processed after about the fifth time I've had to backtrack over about 45 minutes of already completed gameplay due to bugs and not having a recent save.

Point barre.

Gruelingly I beat this game, and I honestly regret it. It didn't leave me a feeling of accomplishment like other difficult games did, and there is no way to enjoy the story due to the difficulty. The feeling I got after beating this game was "Oh, finally it's over." One of the important aspects of RPG games is the story, and there are points where it takes so long to progress that you forget why you're trying to progress in the first place. It's a massive shame because this title had a lot of promise.

I give it a 2 because there are some enjoyable moments in the game, and it's obvious effort was put forth even if it were put in the wrong places.

Combat is a huge mess with a huge artificial difficulty cliff that people defend by saying you're just a commoner and not a skyrim god. However you'll get curb stomped by literally everything except an unarmed peasant. You have to fight a bandit (literally just an armed peasant) he'll magic block all your attacks (even if you attack the way you're told to in training) even if he's in the middle of an attack, so you decide to play it careful and perfect block + riposte, he instantly blocks your counter attack then launches his own counter attack that the game doesn't let you block, and if you're unlucky he gets to use a 6 hit combo on you since enemies have infinite stamina that doesn't seem to be reduced when you damage them (your personal stamina is called at whatever your current health is), so even if they have a sliver of health you can wail on them forever till they get a counter and unleash hell on you. Now let's move on from combat. Every single person in the game seems to be an omniscient god (when they're not blade masters), if you silently knock someone out, they know everything about you when they wake up, you will instantly get a bounty and every guard instantly knows exactly what you look like, your social security number, what you had for lunch a month ago (in real life) and where you are. Did i mention guards can also see through walls? Alright, now let's say run from combat because you got in over your head, too bad you can't, the game's autolock literally forces you into combat no matter how many times you smash B, and if you do manage to cancel autolock and start running there's now 3 things that can happen (actually running away isn't one of them) 1. You turn around and autolock activates and settings you 180 degrees back into the fight. 2. You have no stamina to run because if you are hit your stamina drains, go to 1. 3. You have some stamina so you start to run away, however enemies have infinite stamina (remember?) so go to option 2. The graphics are pretty good UNTIL it starts raining, and it's literally worse looking rain than the rain in Minecraft, and it makes it extremely hard to see. Next is the sound, it's really bad. It seems like the dubbing is off constantly and sounds effects aren't coming from where they should be. The volume also seems totally messed up, i turned sfx and music down so i can properly hear dialogue, but speech still seems to be at random volumes. However, despite all of this i can't give it one star because it is playable (technically) and there are a lot of quests and some good story telling. So in the end, unless you can sink 40+ hours into the game don't bother even playing it. Expand

Oh, how I wanted to love this game. There is so much to like. A deep and engrossing story, driven by strong and compelling characters but there is so much that is deeply broken that I have felt compelled or have been forced by the games itself to stop playing until it's fixed.

    For example:

    1) No matter what you do or where you are you are always caught. Fighting, lockpicking, pickpocketing etc

One would assume that the idea is that the longer you play, the better you get at these things.
In principle that is fine but in practice, it means that the in-game deterrent to not do these things in the first place means that you lose out on some very interesting items.

I have a whole town of people that I cannot interact with because of one failed attempt to open a very easy locked door (which I failed at because......)

    2) Lockpicking itself is terrible. Similar to the mini-games in Skyrim and Fallout, but stupidly difficult to undertake with a controller. I accept a challenge but anything other than a very easy lock is stubbornly finicky and you cannot ever get any better because of the omnipotence of the NPC characters and the problem above.

    3) Combat against more than one adversary is impossible due to the tank like combat controls. I get the Henry isn't Geralt at the beginning and I love the fact that Warhorse has tried to do something different but it just doesn't work very well.

    4) Game breaking bugs. I have had to start over, twice.
Once due to the fact that one NPC (the scribe) that I was supposed to talk too was spinning around on the spot like the girls head in the Exorcist and I couldn't interact with him.

The 2nd attempt was even worse when a cutscene would not trigger and I got stuck on an endless load screen and no matter how far back in the game I went, it would not proceed any further.

I really want to love this game. I want to support this type of independent game development. I appreciate that it amongst the first games (if not the first) that Warhorse has released but for a £50.00 game I am struggling to forgive its faults.

Please, Warhorse, fix this, so I can appreciate it fully.

Broken game, simple as that. If I press the "unlock of target button" and the cursers unlocks on top of the target, so the autolock system makes me lock onto the target I just unlocked from, is the worst possible way the programmers could have done this. No locking system would have been preferable to a locking system that just doesn't work.

No locking system would have been preferable to a locking system that just doesn't work.
Furthermore, when I press the "attack" button, then that action obviously should follow. I understand there is a delay based on skill and other aspects, but even at high levels I still would only have 9/10 attacks registering (attacks being pressing the button). HITTING the target is another issue entirely, one that doesn't make sense all of the time. If my sword goes through somebody, literally through the graphic, and there is zero indication that I landed a hit. When I land a hit, there is sound, recoil, something- anything, but every now and then (often enough to not be an anomaly) my attack will just go THROUGH the NPC (Note this happens most with stabbing).
Honestly, I'd give the game a 7/10 if it weren't for the autolocking issue. It's that bad on Xbox one, but I've heard it's better on PC.
When an enemy can recover in the midst of recoiling, and deliver a combo which kills me at full health (NOT REFERENCING THE FIRST CUMAN), then you have a broken game.
When pressing the "unlock" doesn't do anything but make you lock on again, then you have a broken game.
WHEN I AM PRESSING THE ATTACK BUTTON AND HENRY REFUSES TO ATTACK THE ENEMY AS THEY RECOIL IN PAIN OR DROP THEIR GUARD EVEN WITH FULL STAMINA IS RIDICULOUS
KCD isn't a good game, it isn't broken one. Saying it's good despite the brokenness of the game would be akin to saying that Jimmy Carter's presidency was good despite the utter lack of coherent thought during it.

I cannot tell you how bad the lock picking is on console, and it ruined the immersion of the game. It apparently gets better to lock pick later in the game, increasing the skill really didn't change much.

The start does have some redeeming quality’s such as an emotional event (no spoilers) and a rival which in turn made me feel really invested in the story which is also amazing with its character development and voice acting making characters feel like real people. If not for the average start and the lockpicking then this game would be a 10/10. Expand

Prepare for a buggy glitchy mess. I just played this game for the first time since it was released and nothing has changed it still is the same mess.

Veramente bello. Storie e sidequest stupende. Non vedo l'ora che esca il 2!!

Needs to be an option to change the save system that's litterally my only negitive on the game.

I played it after almost all bugs were fixed. So then I assume then my score would be lower during the release. I love so much the combat system from the game, and we definetely lack of such games

Kingdom Come: Deliverance can be a masterpiece or a disappointment. Depends on what you expect from this game. If you want an RPG à la Skyrim, you`re at the wrong address! It`s a very realistic historically accurate game without any fantasy moments. And that`s the strength of this title. The open world is wonderfully designed and the characters unique.

Beautiful in its tragedy, detail, depth. The atmosphere of the medieval Czech Republic will quickly capture you for several dozen hours.

Mafia the city of the lost heaven...

I've never played anything like that. Good story, pleasant mechanics, perfect atmosphere.

Now this is what I call a realistic RPG. You start as a weak peasant with no experience and once you get into the mechanics and pretty difficult fighting system, you can't stop playing. Overall rating: 8.2.

The game is really immersive and journeying through medieval Czech is just so satisfying. Developers made fantastic work considering all the difficulties with financing. Attention to all the details and realistic gameplay made it one of my favourite games so far.

It run smoothly on Series S in 30 FPS, without any lags. Would really love to see next-gen version though. Playing it in 60

I really wanted to like this game. It looks gorgeous, the voice acting is good and the opening hours of the story is well written and gripping. However, the fatal flaw with Kingdom Come Deliverance is its awkward, slow and clunky combat. The directional system is almost completely useless and under utilized during defense as blocking in all directions is only one button. Directions onlyI really wanted to like this game. However, the fatal flaw with Kingdom Come Deliverance is its awkward, slow and clunky combat. The directional system is almost completely useless and under utilized during defense as blocking in all directions is only one button. Directions only matter during attacks. However, for someone who inverts their Y axis, the directionality of the attacks become hard to manage outside of cardinal directions. The other problem with the combat is how slow attacking is. Pressing RB or RT to poke or slice isn't immediate and leaves you open to attack. There's an overly long wind-up for a poking and slicing that just isn't present in other modern RPGs that rely on the first person perspective and sword & shield combat. During the beginning hours, the game throws near impossible to defeat enemies at you. Other reviewers have labeled this as "difficult", but it's not. It's an improperly built difficulty curve. If you look at other reviews, both from critics and users, you'll notice a trend that mentions combat gets easier as your character gets stronger. This isn't how a difficulty curve should be and it isn't what makes progression of not only your character, but of the player's mastery of the game and combat mechanics worthwhile. If a game is hard at the beginning, but easy towards the end, there's something wrong with how progression was laid out. Admittedly, I didn't finish the game. I really enjoyed the story up to Henry starting his training, but the forced sword battle with Hans was just too frustrating due to the slow paced and generally awful combat of the game to make me want to continue it. It really disappoints me because there was so much else about this game to like. Unfortunately, an overly flawed combat system and difficulty curve makes this game inaccessible for all but the most stubborn of gamers who really don't have anything better to spend their time playing.

This is the best game I ever played.
To put that into context: I played it, after Warhorse mostly fixed the major bugs, but the graphics still lacked often enough, in my recent third playthrough there was still a loading bug that destroyed the whole playthrough up to that point, and I'm not very far traveled in the gaming field, although I played some of the major RPGs.

But the story, the game mechanics (i.e. the fighting), the choices the studio made in regard to historical accuracy (since I studied medieval history this spoke to me in specific way), the details in this game, it has been all nearly overwhelming to me. Only thing that sometimes bothered me, was that there are no children at all in this game. But maybe the developers had a good reason for that.
I am very well aware that at this point no-one will read this to decide on a potential purchase, but I simply had to review it, because it is a masterpiece.

A huge action RPG that is bursting with love and detail. And a fair few bugs, too.

With an expansive story and memorable mechanics, it’s hard not to view Kingdom Come: Deliverance as one of the most interesting RPG releases in years. One where the difficulty is often a barrier to progress and some of the design choices become frustrating experiences in repetition or flat out giving up and moving on to another activity. Or reloading an earlier save to do more sword training. Rough around the edges sure, but the ambition often shines through.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance delivers a huge, complex world with a host of things to get involved in. The story is well written, brilliantly acted and expertly executed. I am worried that the buggy nature of the game will put many off and whilst the vast majority of the problems shouldn’t worry anyone too much, it can get a tad annoying.
