I'll start my review with an apology. I usually always have video highlights of games, but Upload Studios on the XBOX has been running like trash the last few days. Not only that though I won't lie I spent hours on the first few screens falling over and over again that I actually forgot to hit the button to save them. I've never been so frustrated playing a game in my life. I'm a huge Souls fan and not even that game drove me as nuts as this one. I was getting Achievements for 1000 falls and I hadn't even been up past the 5th screen scroll. I'll admit there is a lot going on right now in my life and I can't concentrate like I usually do. We also have a ton of reviews rolling in, and not a lot of people to cover them. So it's been chaos around here. I've never thrown excuses around like this this game has got to me.. After hearing all that I bet your expecting me to tell you just how bad I despise it. Wrong. I've never been so glued to the television in my life. See I love Hot Babes as much as the next guy so I wasn't even about to give up. I could have fell a million times I was getting my hot babe. I earned it for this struggle. When I saw her at the top I never felt so much accomplishment in a game before. It was all worth it. When I saw my time I was really ashamed though as well. I've seen people do this in 5 minutes what took me 5 hours. That inspired me to improve my time. That is what great games do is challenge you to do better, and inspire you to play more. In this way Jump King is loaded with replay value even without the bonus games they added with new babes. You can bet I'm get my other babes as well though. Variety is the spice of life.
The game looks really cool. It looks like a 16 bit classic while still feeling very modern as well. I referred to it as 16 bit Souls to one of my buddies, but there is no attacking it's just jumping. They are so challenging and one mistake you can fall so many levels. It's one of those games repetition and learning is very important. If you want a challenge it is certainly here. One of the most challenging games I've experienced. If you are one of those people who give up easy on things I'll go ahead and tell you this isn't for you. If you are the type of gamer with no quit, and you will load up the same part of game over and over until you get it. You are going to love this. Like to me if feels a lot like the game"Getting Over it" but I thought this was way more challenging. Yet I also thought it was a lot more entertaining, and felt much more relief and since of pride upon completing it.
It's hard to really review a game where you basically just jump for hours or minutes depending on your skill. Like what can you really say? Your a cool looking Knight that can make small jumps by just tapping the button or big ones by holding it in. There is no meter to determine how high each jump will take you, it's all about getting a feeling for it. You start at a small camp site with a old man talking to you about his climb to get the babe trying to give you wisdom. You start in a green forest and it changes as you climb. It looks really beautiful to be a pixel title. I really loved how the snow levels looked on my screen. You will see a ton of beautiful back drops before finally reaching the top of the castle and getting your babe. You will meet a lot of characters a long the way. I don't want to spoil that for you though. I really recommend this game if you like a challenge. I also do if you need something to test you, and maybe build up your determination. I remember the first time I played Dark Souls, and I used no guides or got zero info from any one on the game. I wanted to do it on my own, and when I did i felt such accomplishment. It took me forever I won't lie. There is something to this for me though that feels so good when you see a new area. The feeling of accomplishment just is so satisfying. That is why I compare these 2 games. I hadn't had that feeling since then, and Jump King brought it back. Yes I have a ton of reviews, so i have to get to them first. Jump King won't get that uninstall there usually is after a review, I will be returning to improve my time. I will master this game it just calls me to it.
.
It calls me to watch speed running streams on it as well. I've watched some Youtube videos, but I want to watch a gamer do it live, and watch them learn it. I think it will make for interesting viewing. I love when games inspire you to watch other people play them as well. That is when you know it is something truly special. Jump King is just that, and it is on every platform. it's also fairly inexpensive as well. The content far out weighs the price tag. So certainly try it out, and let me know what you thought of it, and If you plan on streaming it or posting a World Record run let me know as well.… Expand
