The price tag is a bit steep and obviously I’d not recommend Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure for grown-ups as the easiness would get tiresome too quickly, but for young Ice Age fans it’s worth a go. Just about.

I didn’t expect much from Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure before I started it. Now that I’ve finished it, though, I’m quick to admit that I was wrong. While this game won’t set the world on fire, and isn’t the latest Batman: Arkham Asylum, Toy Story 3, Cars 2 or Marvel’s Spider-Man, it’s pretty solid and enjoyable. Kids should enjoy this simple platformer and may even find fun in going back and finding all of its collectibles. Don’t expect something that will have tons of replay value, though.

There is not an Ice Age movie out right now, and I have to ask does anyone have nostalgia for the series? Are kids still interested in Ice Age? I asked for this game because it looked like a decent platformer and I guess I got that. Clearly someone cared enough to make this, and I did enjoy my time with it. It just feels half cooked in a lot of its design. I want to say it took me no more than 5 hours to collect most of the collectables and finish the game, and at $40 for something of this quality and length I can’t recommend it. It’s a mistimed, mispriced decent game, and right decent isn’t enough.

But in theIce Age: Scrats Nutty Adventure is a 3rd Person Platforming Puzzle Adventure. Scrat has finally made it to the tree with a nut! But in the typical fashion, luck has its way with our favorite Sabertooth Squirrel. The bottom of his home falls out, and his prized nut is taken by some ancient architecture, and his crazy adventure begins. Scrat is set out to find the ancient Crystal Nuts, left behind by the Scratazon. By retrieving the Crystal Nuts, Scrat hopes to reclaim his prized possession from the temple. The game is designed as a 3D Platformer, adding Scrat's insanely bad luck to the mix it provides hours of laughs and challenging, but not too hard, stages and bosses. Set with the beautiful Ice Age scenery as the backdrop you get to see some familiar shapes in the background too. The bosses provide some challenge, but the game was designed for nearly all ages, so don't expect it to get nils hard. As you collect these purple gleaming nut shaped artifacts, you unlock hidden potential in Scrat, allowing you to Double-Jump and interact with some of the artifacts left behind by the Scratazon. With perfectly timed sounds from Scrat, the failures you may face are tempered with humor. Scrat's Nutty Adventure is a blast and I highly recommend it to gamers of nearly any age! Expand
