Absolutely love this game. The new button layout is insanely hard, which brings a new challenge that rockband and previous GH games lacked. It doesn't require xbox live gold either, so you can play online without needing to pay that extra 60$ a year.User interface and graphics are great, and it has a strong setlist. Expand

I'm big into music games, owning DJ Hero 1/2, all RB titles, almost all GH titles, almost all Lips titles, Karaoke Revolution, all Dance Central titles, almost all Just Dance titles, etc. And now I'm happy to own GH Live. It's a lot of fun. The new controller feels great and offers a lot of new challenges. It genuinely feels new. marklodi has a point on the dongle. It works far better if you have it on the side USB port. When I had it on the rear ports, it would drop signal every once in awhile. Enough to frustrate you. If you turn the Xbox so that the dongle is in view, it'll work fine. I don't know if he realizes but the exact same guitar is used on all platforms so that's why you need the dongle. It's not like before where you had a 360 guitar and a PS3 guitar. now it's just a guitar for all.

Otherwise, I completely disagree with all other parts of his review.

This game has me hooked, I did not really get into previous guitar heroes...not because they weren't good just because on rockband I usually play drums or sing (guitar being last preference).

I like the new guitar because with my limited (real) guitar playing experience this feels more like playing than previous attempts of guitar hero or rockband because you have to arch or flatten

I like the new guitar because with my limited (real) guitar playing experience this feels more like playing than previous attempts of guitar hero or rockband because you have to arch or flatten your fingers to according to whats on screen which simulates the feeling of reaching for and avoiding certain strings when playing notes.

The story mode is kind of cool but also weird...why is every person staring at me...fans I understand but every single person (backstage and onstage) keeps glancing at you and it feels awkward (like a body snatchers or horror film) as opposed to authentic. I do like the TV mode because you get to play the songs with their respective video as the background.

Overall I would recommend this to someone who likes guitar games. There is a learning curve but its the fun kind because each time I miss because of switching between hi and lo buttons I correct quickly. I am certainly not great but can still get 90% on medium setting on all songs i've tried. I just want to keep jamming...seriously I was late for work this morning because of it:)

The new guitar mechanics is a strong step forward in this series. Whilst the 'campaign' falls short compared to previous iterations, it is GHTV that'll addictively keep you coming back for more. It doesnt have the impact on me as GH3 had, but performing in front of crowds is an interesting and great step in the right direction for the series. It's a shame so much focus is spent on hitting the notes right, you only pay attention to the crowd when you're spectating. For fans of the music gaming genre or Guitar Hero series, this is a must buy. Even as a casual gamer, it's a fun easy way to spend the afternoon, relaxing with a few beers. Expand

I've been a fan of the Guitar Hero series since the very first release. I've also played guitar for many years.

The controller is a little tough to get used to, but once you get used to the layout the gameplay is much better. It feels much more like you're playing an actual guitar. The song selection is spot on. There is a song for almost every genre and it spans over many decades.

GHTV is really fun. As a fan of old school MTV, this is f*cking awesome to play. I love watching music videos anyways, now I get to play along with them? Great idea.

The story mode is kind of bleh... I feel very little connection with the bands and the story, but the songs are great. The festivals hit on the correct genre's of music and location - UK bands at UK festivals, etc.

I would suggest picking this game up if you are a previous Guitar Hero fan. The controller brings a new challenge, but it's a good challenge and it's how it should have been made the first time around. You'll find GHTV really fun.

As an massive fan of the original guitar hero franchise and the DJ spinoff a I was delighted to get my hands on Guitar Hero Live. I love the new button layout as it makes it a lot more realistic while also allowing for more combinations and therefore making some songs more difficult.

The live feature is alright but I don't really care about it. I do like the immersion of it however but

The live feature is alright but I don't really care about it. I do like the immersion of it however but I prefer the format of GH Live. I love jamming along against other opponents to random songs and challenging myself to beat the rest.

The song choice of the game is somewhat poor and it reminds me of band hero with songs aimed to the younger generations. GH Live makes up for it somewhat with classics from previous games in the series.

Overall it is a very well worked game that is fun to play and feels somewhat realistic.

I love the new Guitar Hero experience, but more specifically I love Guitar Hero TV mode, which more than makes up for the forgettable Live mode.

A great evolution to the controller, but lacks the fun of the originals.
