And just wanted to put this out there, for all the xbox fanboys complaining the 0's are from Sony fans only......Let's not forget that you all do the same thing with every PS exclusive. So if you don't want Sony fans trashing Xbox games, then don't trash Sony games. Simple.

    Gears of War 4 is a beauty. The graphics are incredible and successfully utilize the Xbox One's power. The story mode in Gears is what draws me in, and Gears 4 does not disappoint. Multiplayer plays well besides some issue finding matches, and the inclusion of loot boxes can be ignored

    O melhor Gears of War sem sombras de dúvida. Multiplayer viciante, gráficos sensacionais, jogabilidade totalmente diferente da dos outros jogos da saga porém continua com o mesmo sentimento, o que é fantástico. Pra mim foi o GOTY de 2016

    Gráficos impresionantes, campaña solida, doblajes espectacular. El.multijugador es muy completo, la Horda 3.0 es la mejor de toda la saga, sin mas qie decir este Gears es una piezas maestra.

    2/7/21-2/14/21 100% Story

    Loved it! You can definitely see a bit of a switch from the original trilogy, but everything is improved in my opinion.     There was a bit more humor in the quips between you and your squad that was surprisingly funny for a game in this genre. JD, Del, and Kate are all great characters that mesh really well together. Not to mention the returning characters we all know and love.

    The gameplay is still fantastic Gears-style cover shooting and the new enemies and weapons make the formula even better. There were a few times when I felt a little bored with one aspect or another, but right around the corner was another new element to bring my attention right back in.

    I also tend to forget that Gears games usually have a really well done horror section or two. The pacing is done in such a way that you aren't always involved in epic firefights, sometimes you are slowly moving through a creepy abandoned area expecting an ambush around every turn.

    It did seem to wrap up and end kind of abruptly, but since they are continuing the story into Gears 5 that makes a bit of sense.

    This is an amazing game and one of the best of the generation. Graphically it looks just as good if not better than many next Gen games. Story wise is amazing. The story is fun and focuses on new characters that I enjoyed and loved as well as giving you great nostalgia with old characters.     It’s a fun game with a great story and great characters, it’s also super funny. If you have game pass playing this along with the other gears games is a no brainer. If you have a Xbox and have been on the fence about gears 4, I say do it! You won’t regret it!

    This game is clearly getting review bombed by PlayStation fans. The Xbox store has it at a 4.5/5 stars. Critics also loved it. This game is criminally overlooked.

    True, it is not as dark and damp ad the first trilogy, but I like the new colorful aesthetics.

    As of right now, this is my favorite campaign of them all. It's extremely close between this one, the 1st and 3rd game. The 1st one was mind blowing at the time and the 3rd one had the most emotion. If I had one negative about the campaign it would be the required horde mode sections. I think horde is fun with 4-5 friends but playing those sections by yourself or with 2 people isn't asAs of right now, this is my favorite campaign of them all. The sections outside of these parts are great. The soundtrack is awesome but the stand out is the art direction. It's a Dystopian world but still amazingly beautiful. I am legit blown away by how good it looks. It's kind of similar to the way I felt with the Last of Us. Is this really an Xbox One game? It looks like it would be closer to a Scorpio game. I'm extremely excited for the future of Gears now. After Judgement I was a bit scared. I also love the new addition of weapons. Everyone brings up the buzzkill but that is the worst one in my opinion lol. I really love the Overkill shotgun and the Embar. Those are awesome. Along with the new weapons, the gameplay just feels super smooth. I can't complain one bit about the gameplay. Best of the series.

    This revision of the game is really entertaining. I had lost hope in gears after gears of war 3 which had a great finale. I did not believe they could bring the franchise back but I read so many good reviews that I gave it the opportunity and I'm glad I did. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty and I don't feel the game is unfair, so I've been learning to be patient and to pick the right moment to make my moves. It is truly good. Just remember to go for the head or the enemy will just be bullet sponges.

    I did have some money in my account by doing searches through Bing.com which you could get about $10 a month if you use Bing.com regularly so it was even more satisfying to buy it, just a tip. I really recommend the game.    … Expand

It's amazing and so frustrating at the same time. Playing on PC at least I don't have a controller to throw anymore. Instead I can smash my keyboard lol.

Not only does it support it but the UI and load screen fully support it as well which is hardly ever seen in some cases. The graphics are amazing as well! Gears has never looked so good and some of the special effects are amazing eye candy. Tons of fun set pieces from that campaign. The 60fps or beyond is also great, super smooth. It doesn't support SLI yet. Which is fine since my 1 card is handling the game fine.

    So overall. The game runs amazing on PC. It's super fun and the multiplayer is great! Game needs SLI support and there are some minor bugs and what not that need patched in the future. Still loving the game though! If you are a Gears fan you will enjoy it for sure.

    Oh, and I love all the 0's from fan boys and haters. Thanks bro's! Game is still going to be very successful!    … Expand

    Gears of War 4 is a welcome return for a great franchise. The campaign is a blast to play, with plenty of nostalgia for veterans. The multiplayer is refreshing, with dodgeball being a highlight. Horde mode is also as fun as it's always been.

    Epic sequel. Incredible showcase for UE4 and Xbox One X, great story, great sound and a perfect innovation on the core game mechanics.

    The only thing I absolutely hate about this game, is that the franchise went from 4 player campaign co-op, down to 2. That kind of sucks for longtime fans of Gears games. Horde mode is great too.

    Campaign is less epic then the original story, but it is still great. Horde mode is always fun and they improved the game mechanics even more. But the multiplayer is where this game shines. Great gunplay, great maps, great everything. Every gear fans will spend 100+++ hours on this game.

    The game is worth original trilogy, good looking, fun but maybe a bit short. I feel it should be a lot more fight. This way it looks like isolated mini war, not some global danger situation. Btw characters hair looks bad.
    Multiplayer is ok but it is just fast finger shotgun fest, very difficult one.

    I bought the first GoW when it first launched. Played about 15 minutes before throwing to the "maybe play later" game pile. I found it too grey/brown to make it enjoyable visually. Never did get back to playing it.

    Fast forward 10 or so years, after seeing TV ads for GoW4 I threw caution to the wind and decided to get GoW4 UE (because I'm a completionist) to check it out. I must say so    I bought the first GoW when it first launched. Played about 15 minutes before throwing to the "maybe play later" game pile. I found it too grey/brown to make it enjoyable visually. Never did get back to playing it.

    Fast forward 10 or so years, after seeing TV ads for GoW4 I threw caution to the wind and decided to get GoW4 UE (because I'm a completionist) to check it out. I must say so far so good. Visually it's much better. Characters are entertaining. Combat is fun (playing on Normal) although I find not having an auto-aim to be a tad annoying. I also find some of the controls to be unintuitive so slides, jumps, hand-to-hand fights don't happen very often for me. Audio is also excellent. Since the UE includes codes for the first 3 games plus some other GoW variant, I just may go back and play those too one day.    … Expand

    Gears was always a roller coaster experience and this one is definitely a hell of a roller coaster experience. Great presentation, great gameplay, great levels both in terms of overall design and variety.
    My only gripe about the game is the ending. It is not bad but it gave me the feeling that half of the game is missing. I get that this is supposed to be the beginning of a new saga, but    Gears was always a roller coaster experience and this one is definitely a hell of a roller coaster experience. Great presentation, great gameplay, great levels both in terms of overall design and variety.
    My only gripe about the game is the ending. It is not bad but it gave me the feeling that half of the game is missing. I get that this is supposed to be the beginning of a new saga, but they can leave space for more without making this one feel incomplete.

    Ok so. Firstly i want to address the people giving the game a 0 as well as a 10. The game is neither that bad or that amazing. Its a great game and worth every penny but not a 10/10 master piece. Obviously all the 0/10 scores are just fan boys but lets not get into that.

    It's been close to 10 years now and I angrily waited as it took an hour from the moment I put the disc in the slot until I was able to boot up the game (Still think this is the dumbest thing about current gen consoles. Why on earth can't I pop a disc in and play immediately?) I selected the campaign and chose the 'hardcore' difficulty because sometimes a game can be less fun if it's not a challenge (remember; games were created to provide a challenge) The initial cut-scene rolls and I'm hooked right away. I am transported right back to how I felt 10 years ago watching the first cut-scene. The campaign is superb and has plenty of memorable moments that will stand out among many other shooters today. Horde mode is something I can't touch base on because I have never played and don't know what it can be compared to, but I can tell you that it is fun as hell.

    The real stand out for me though is the multiplayer. There hasn't been a good competitive 3rd person shooter since the first GoW in my opinion. The multiplayer feels just like it did except much more polished with better weapon balances and map design. I will be spending much of my winter bouncing between this and Battlefield 1 for all my shooter needs.

    If you loved the first Gears of War than buy the game. It is a refreshing experience in an over-saturated market of shooters. This one stands out among the crowd and will serve you with a lot of joy from The Coalition and Microsoft.    … Expand

Fortunately it didn't and the game got significantly better after the initial chapters. It was a lot more fun to play as the gameplay diversified from chapter to chapter and it was good, but not excellent. They could have done more, but I think they preferred to keep it safe. Probably the risky part they'd dared to make was the robot thing and that was awkward enough. After finishing the campaign I thought to myself: "Hm, nice". It wasn't spectacular, but it was good enough. But after trying the horde mode with my friends, I instantly knew that the game they have built was not focusing at all on the campaign. And I felt a bit disappointed, not by the multiplayer cause it is a lot of fun, but by the notion that I would never be playing a good gears of war campaign anymore. Their focus are on service and online play, not narratives. I feel that if want good narratives I should go look somewhere away from Microsoft.… Expand

    Third-Person Cover Shooter

    Story

    One issue people seem to have is, the series is no longer about Marcus, Dom, Baird or Augustus. It’s now about the next generation, JD (Marcus’ son), Kait and Del. The fourth member of the team is a spoiler so I won’t go into who that is.

    The entire game's premise is Kait’s mother was taken by the enemy and the team's goal is to get her back. So even though the protagonist is JD, the main story ended up being about a side character.

    Favorite Character

    I don’t really know who my favorite character is, none of the 3 really stood out to me.

    JD (James Dominic Fenix)-He reminds me a lot of Nathan Drake but specifically Uncharted 1 Nathan Drake. Few jokes here and there but for the most part a character that is not developed.

    Kait Diaz-She seems like the most self-serious which in fairness to her a very serious thing has happened to her but even before that she was too serious. It’s my main issue with Lara Croft from the rebooted Tomb Raider series. Lighten up a little bit.

    Del Walker-He’s best friends with JD and that’s all there is to say about Del. Occasionally he and JD have a few quips but for the most part he’s a very bland character.

    Gears of War is not the creator of cover based shooters but it is the poster child.

    Bosses

    There are bosses but I have never liked the boss battles in the Gears of War franchise. Since a majority of the enemies are already bullet sponges, the boss battles where the enemy has more health doesn’t really improve the game. Then there are the bosses where there is a specific gimmick and my biggest issue with previous entries is the game never did a good job of letting you know what the gimmick actually was. I can’t take tell you how many boss battles I went and started shooting the enemy and I don’t know if I’m correctly widdling the health down on this boss. Its just trial and error and eventually figure it out. The other issue is, once you figure out the gimmick of what you need to do, it’s typically not fun executing it.

    This game does a good job of making it clear what you need to do but the issue is, its typically just not that much fun. Because often times the boss has a ton of health so its time consuming of just dumping a lot of bullets into the boss. But its not just that, you also have to shoot specifics area of the boss which is also not a lot of fun because what happens is you’re standing around waiting for the boss to open up, fire into the specific area. then go back to waiting. Keep doing this for 5 minutes and eventually you’re done.

    Mission/Level Design

    The games gameplay loop is very indicative of previous Gears of War games. Cut scene, then back to gameplay where you walk into an area. Combat arena and then once all the enemies have been killed you hear a sound that sounds like a gong. This lets you know that you have killed all enemies and now it’s time to move onto the next area. The entire game is killing enemies and cutscenes. So if you like the shooting in this game then you’re going to consider it a good game, if you’re not into the shooting then you’re not going to like it.

    Such an incredible game including high graphics and nice gameplay. But I wish there were more innovations. The story was short however the storyline was great. Im a big fan of gears of war series but something that I don't understand is about some non-professional gamers claim 0 rate for this game. No game even the worst ones don't deserve 0 RATING!!!

The way I see it all shooters have been pretty much the same for 10 years or more and I feel the Gears franchise does enough to stand out from the rest with its movement system.     the first 2 hours are a bit tedious, but the other 7 and a half are a blast, pure nostalgia and frenetic gameplay as ever with a few changes here and there that make the game feels new and familiar at the same time, the graphics are great and the story it´s best good i give it a solid 9 because it deserved, not like some idiots here that gave a zero to a game like it was nothing

    Best gears so far. Not only is the multiplayer a blast, but the campaign is the best of the series. With great dialogue and a funny moment now and than.
    The great graphics finish the job, especially after you encounter the swarm for the first time.

    The reason for giving it a 9 instead of 10 is customization. These is were the game fails across the board in my opinion. In Gears of War 3 you have to obtain the characters and weapon skin by doing something in the game and sometimes even on older games. yes there was micro transactions too but it wasn't the only option and made you want it more. Example, in GoW3 you had to gain a certain amount of mvp ribbons to obtain the mvp Cole. So if you see someone with it in multiplayer you would think that he has to be at least a decent player. On the other hand if you see someone with a rare skin in GoW4 so say hey that guy has a lot of luck or money. Yes you still can get it by playing a lot and getting those coins to buy the packages but not everything. Example, the e-sport support package had exclusives skins that you could gamble to get what you wanted for $10 and no other way.    … Expand

    Honestly, it reignites my interest and excitement in the Gears series. I was skeptical with the Coalition now taking control of the reigns, but now I'm certain they can do awesome things with the next game or two. My only two complaints are that the characters are weak and the story is mostly there to lay the foundation of a new game. Other than that, story was great and the game was great!

    The combat is greatly improved from the last game and the campaign is good.
    Multiplayer is also fun and Horde mode is great to play with friends.

    Gears of War 4 has a great campaign and a good multiplayer. the game has very good graphics, good controls, Fun p.v.e game mode (Horde mode) and cool cosmetics. But i think they need to add more maps to Horde mode.

Gears of War 4 is the Force Awakens of the Gears of War series. It brings back the characters you love with adding new likeable fun characters as replacements. Has a new yet in a way old familiar enemy, and is all about you getting reintroduced into the world of Gears. I know a hell of an intro to get into this review, but anyways B-rod here, and I love the **** out of Gears of War 4.

    When I first saw this game I thought, “oh great they are going to milk Gears of War for all it’s worth.” I was right technically, but the team at The Coalition took some time and care into making this game, and made it a fun experience. The game’s story is about Marcus Fenix’s son James Fenix and his two squad/friends embarking on a mission to find out what happened to their village which was attacked by these unknown creatures. The mystery is not deep but engaging, but what really sold this game to me was the characters. James, Kait, and Del they were charming, funny and just overall characters you wanted to follow. I like Marcus Fenix, but he was always a cardboard cutout Conan type character. James is a funny likeable rogue who you’d want to follow long after the game is over. I can’t tell you how much I dug this story and character especially since I thought this game would be just another Judgement fail.

    The gameplay is exactly what sequels are supposed to be. It keeps the core gameplay the same, and just adds upon it. It doesn’t retool how the gameplay works making it less fun entirely Gears of War Judgement. (I’m JUDGING the hell out of that game right now). Adding in the weather as a hazard while you fight is such a kickass obstacle that I honestly never knew I needed. The worst part of this game is the beginning where the first two act of the game you’re fighting robots. These **** things are not only boring to kill, but are bullet sponges to the point of annoyance. Once you fight the real enemy of the game which are called the Swarm that’s where you get into that good ole Gears we know and love. Even the Swarm have creatures that are interesting to fight and keep you on your toes. They force you not to just sit there shooting at them with your Lancer until they explode. It sorta felt like a fight in Bloodborne with how often you were forced to dodge and shoot. The game looks like a Gears game. It’s the best looking by far, but nothing that is unfamiliar as it were.

    Overall if you never played a Gears of War game before I wouldn’t recommend it because I feel like you’d be missing something that the typical Gears player would see. If you are a Gears fan, but were turned off by Judgement by all means get this game it is my favorite of the games since Gears of War 2 came out. I did not expect to love this as much as I did and I have to give it 4.5/5. If it wasn’t for that first two acts fighting nothing but robots I would’ve gave it a perfect score.     Better than Gears of War 3 but less than Gears 1 and 2.

    I love this game is so fun, great graphics interesting enemie design everyone is almost perfect, just one problem I think the multiplayer is weak but for everything else this game is cool.

    The Coalition has managed to successfully bring every great elements from previous games into a new setting. Whether you go for single-player, multiplayer or horde mode, GoW4 hast plenty to offer. The visuals are stunning and the gameplay is the best in the series thus far; and despite shortcomings in the story and development of characters, GoW4 is easily one of the best third-person shooters of this generation.
