    Just finished playing Titanfall 2s', Battlefield, and Gears 4 campaigns and Gears 4 is by far the most enjoyable. Sure the writing is average but no worse Titanfall's. The action and variety however is phenomenal. The game is silly, over the top, and most importantly, fun. The only disappointment was the ending but if I had to rank SP campaigns from some of the biggest shooters this yearJust finished playing Titanfall 2s', Battlefield, and Gears 4 campaigns and Gears 4 is by far the most enjoyable.     Online is a lot of fun and offers a lot of different modes including horde which is a mini-game in itself. The graphics are incredible (some of the best this year) and it runs great on both xb1 and PC. Definitely one of the better games released this year.    … Expand

    This is the most fun I've had with Gears since the first game. It looks beautiful, fits into the universe well, and oh by the way it has the smoothest and best gunplay of any Gears ever.

    The campaign is epic and satisfying, of course leaving us hungry for more as it is supposed to. And the multiplayer, as well as Horde 3.0, is such a blast.     Boy are Sony sure playing their gamers for fools. No content or just giving you guys content when a new machine releases.

    Weve got everything, Halo and Gears and Forza.

    How to prevent SONY FANBOYS from leaving low ratings: I wish Metacritic could somehow require that your Metacritic profile link to your Xbox Live and PSN account. In essence, if you don't have a profile with either one, you CAN'T review games for that console. I'm sure it wouldn't work perfectly, but it would, at least, reduce the number of false negative reviews.     Now, on to my GoW4 thoughts. As far as the story goes: While it's short, it's my favorite in the series. It's funny, and action packed. I just hope that they can make 5 longer. There is so much variety that they introduce in the campaign that they really can make it longer.

    As far as gameplay goes... it's tight. This is a Gears game fo sho. I was worried, what with the new studio taking over. My worries are gone. This feels just as good as the first time I played GoW1. I would give it a 9 only because the story should really be a 10-12 hour length. But its just over 6 and a half hours. I'm giving this a 10 just to counter all the fanboy reviews.

    As far as transitioning to the new characters from the old. Think of Star Wars episode 7 and how it was done there. Masterfully passing the torch.

    We had to wait a while but a proper new Gears of War game is finally here. It's magnificent. 11gb day one patch aside (which was annoying), I managed to pump in about 10 hours since yesterday already (not counting the time I played in beta and early access). The single player is solid, with some great set pieces and great characters, but the multiplayer is where it's at.     Wow, great multiplayer in 60fps. They realy nailed it in this one.
    Only complain is that I miss overrun from judgement.
    And a big thank you for bringing back system link on the xbox one! More developers should learn from this.

    Brilliant game. Maps, art, Sense of 3D environment is well done. Weapon balance is different and successful. Riotous carnage, looks great and sounds great on standard xbox one. Great job!

    Gears of War 4 is the best game in the series, awesome gameplay, great story, astonishing graphics, unique campaign and solid multiplayer. I can't ask for more.

So here we see them, in their natural environment, trashing other platforms and games with downvotes. Gears 4 is amazing.     In short it is gears of war. There are a couple of new elements and Horde mode has been tweaked, but it is still the same type of game. If you are coming to this game looking for a complete overhaul then don't. It still has the same gameplay, it still has the same mechanics and controls, with only a few extra tweaks.
    Now the game. The campaign is fantastic and is around 7-8 hours in    In short it is gears of war. There are a couple of new elements and Horde mode has been tweaked, but it is still the same type of game. If you are coming to this game looking for a complete overhaul then don't. It still has the same gameplay, it still has the same mechanics and controls, with only a few extra tweaks.
    Now the game. The campaign is fantastic and is around 7-8 hours in length, which is a bit longer than the first instalment. There are new elements, but it is essentially the same core game as previous instalments. Horde mode has been tweaked to add a fabricator, where you earn credits to buy fortifications. Multiplayer is similar to previous with more maps. It should be taken into account that ALL future maps are free. The coalition will add 2 new maps per month for the next years and put them on a rotation in the multiplayer and horde modes.
    Multiplayer and campaign has co-op, LAN and online capabilities, which is better than pretty any other recent offerings.

    Just finished the campaign on Hardcore mode. It has some of the best moments of any Gears campaign. The combat and and game play are the very best of any Gears campaign. It feels like Gears, but more polished and more modern.

    Same with the MP. Classic gears, but smoother and more enjoyable.

    Anyone who likes Gears will love this game.

    This is an amazing game. Great story line and graphics. Great multiplayer which brings countless hours of fun after the main story is complete. It is easy to get lost in the horde mode and spend hours playing it. Anyone who is rating this game a zero is completely illogical and is either blind or mentally deficient. This is one of the best if not the best xbox one game released to date.

    The controls are top notch. The Xbox One controller is second to none, and this game helps prove that point. I never ran into control issues during my 7 hour campaign run, or my 15 hour horde mode run. Thanks to the superb controls, the combat felt both precise and elegant overall.

    While it’s possible to earn points to spend on in-game items like weapons, upgrades, and items, there’s also a way to spend real world money as well. The season pass supposedly unlocks a good bit of stuff in order to boost your earnings and experience, but I didn't pay for a season pass, so I don't care all that much.

    All in all, the game is a very fun cover based shooter title with lots of replay and gorgeous graphics.    … Expand

    This game is fantastic. Great game play beautiful graphics and awesome story. The voice acting is very well done. Its a must play for all xbox gamers . Dont then listen to haters who gave it a low score play for yourself and you'll see the truth and how much fun this game is

    Best xbox exclusive so far.
    Cover system works perfect, the new additions (grab a kill, etc). transitions from the old character to the new ones is really well done, the music and voice acting is great.

    The Gears of War game I didn't know I wanted! Was just looking for something until BF1 and COD remaster come out. Game is a blast. Graphics are spectacular. Horde mode is fun. Too bad so PS players don't have any fun games to play so they have plenty of time to come on here and tear down a great game. They'll have even more time next year when Project Scorpio comes out. lol lol

    This is one of the best games ive played this yr 1st forza now this story great multiplay at 60fps awesome horde 3.0 great.i i do tastw the salt of the ps4 owners it is strong.better then what ahs come out for my ps4 uc4 was good but nothing new multiplayer was okay at best. Ive been having a ball with horde mode 3.0 fun and gives you a very nice challenge.

    Gears of war 4 is Gears of war in the purest expression. Incredible graphics, improved control, new modes, improved horde mode, a campaing with a slow beginning but incredibly enjoyable, and with split-screen the experience is a lot more fun.

    this game is amazing. put in over 50 hours and new comers will love this game to. 10/10 for this game easily, best graphic game on xbox one at the moment, story is amazing and horde and verses have never been better. characters like JD and Kait add great story to the campaign and the always amazing marcus fenix and squad return for ana exciting new game.

    The game itself is super enjoyable, thanks mainly to the well-tuned controls. On paper, there’s not too much difference between the way The Coalition has approached Gears 4 and the way Epic approached the other games in the franchise. There's a button for firing, one for reloading, and another for weapon-switching. Fairly standard stuff.

    Where Gears 4 beats the previous games in the franchise is in the polish applied to the controls. Movement is smooth and accurate across the board, while the fact that most combat takes place behind walls means there’s very little strafing and shooting on the run. There’s also no need for extra buttons - cover is handled almost automatically, there’s very little close-combat elements, and absolutely no dashing. You can still roadie run in the new game. The simple controls has the desirable effect of keeping things manageable, even when there are several enemies all gunning for your COG blood.

    Everything about the game, from the graphics and controls right through to the sound, oozes class. Unbelievably, even the voice acting is entertaining, so while the beautiful orchestral soundtrack does get a little tiresome after the 4th hour into the campaign, it’s still cranking the volume to hear the great exchanges between JD and his sarcastic friend, Del.

    Naturally one the big draws is the graphics, there are a lot of very good things to say about the visuals, the textures are detailed and the animations are flawless. The levels and set pieces are very good looking and have an excellent amount of variety. That’s not to say that there isn't a little repetition in the levels, but they are gorgeous and they do vary enough for me to not get tired of any one setting. Set-pieces such as a boss ‘battle’ with a huge swarmac and the excellent variety in the enemies you encounter keep you on your toes throughout.

    There are very few moments in Gears 4 when overall ambition exceeds the final execution. Gears 4 remains the best attempt to recreate the third-person action game we’ve seen on current gen hardware to date, proving that you don’t necessarily have to ditch a genre just because the formula got semi-stale 5 years ago    … Expand

    Gears of war has been a fantastic franchise since it emerged in 2006 . This series simply refuses to dissapoint . The gameplay is so much fun . This game is definitely the most enjoyable I have seen this year . Gears has always been my favourite games and I simply love this one as well . The story is not even as bad as some claimed , I actually enjoyed all the stories of each entry in thisGears of war has been a fantastic franchise since it emerged in 2006 .     Game of the year for sure, tied with Forza Horzion 3.

    Incredible campaign so far, the visuals, sounds, storytelling and gameplay makes you want to play 24 hours a day. IGN rated this a 9.2/10, which is better than Uncharted 4.

    Xbox has done it again with a masterpiece.

    one of the best games i,ve played on xbox one, the campaign is awesome, multiplayer and new weapons too, i,ve played all the gears of war games, and this is no exception o the quality they offer, like the first 3 games on the franchise, personally i didn't like judgement, but this game is a very fun game and looks gorgeous

The characters are all badasses except for JD Fenix, the protagonist who is your everyman boyscout, and this is a letdown considering how Marcus was one of the best protagonists in all of gaming, truly badass and undeniably the coolest ever and continues to be so in this game. The others are also pretty good, anyway we also have to put into consideration the fact that this is their first rodeo so of course, they are soft. the gameplay is as satisfying as ever and is more polished, it is easier to bounce in and out of cover and is overall smoother in every other aspect. There is a lot of variation, many enemy types and the AI is much smarter making you actually think where and when to move using which weapon and whatnot. The multiplayer has a few hiccups here and there, it lags from time to time and matches are kinda slow to find, however it looks gorgeous, each map is amazing in its own right and with the patch today its even better now with no lag. I hope that gears will take some tips from halo multiplayer and make it much much better. horde is a treat, very challenging and satisfying. the campaign is a bit short and the story is a bit small scale, you dont feel like as if you're saving the world but the future installments will obviously change that. I really hope they refine the multiplayer a bit more, because it is fun, there is no denying that however, it's very odd to find matches. Maybe i am a but too used to the halo 5 matchmaking but it's flawless and I am sure that with microsoft's backing it is possible to make the match finding more intuitive and overall easier to find. I would rate it a 9 but with the insecure sony fanboys still riding on uncharted 4 rating it zeroes i have to fight back. this game is easily 10 material but i'd give it a few months till it gets to that level.… Expand

    O jogo está perfeito mantiveram-se as mecânicas clássicas que foram bem aprimoradas, os personagens novos também estão ótimos, sem falar nos novos inimigos. O multiplayer continua divertido e competitivo. O enredo eu achei mais fraco em relação aos antigos Gears, mas está ótimo e nos mostra que a Coalition não teve medo de inovar.     Actually I didn't want to buy this game because I've heard that Coalition said that the game would be similiar (gameplay etc.) to the first games.

    After all, my opinion totally changed:

    Awesome, cinematic campaign and a stunning multiplayer which makes really fun to play. Everthing is made perfect with the awesome graphics, they really made the best they can with the Unreal Engine!!

    Are people actually giving this game a rating of 0? lol a 0 rating would mean the game didn't even launch and you couldn't play it hahaha. If you actually put a 0 as your rating you clearly didn't even play it and you're trying to ruin the user score. Metacritic should fix this and confirm users actually have the game to submit a review. Probably a PS4 fan mad he can't play it lol.

    Campaign is pretty great, environments and pacing are all pretty on point. Versus multiplayer is pretty good, some long-ish matchmaking times but not anything unexpected in the first weeks of a game's launch - because of high server load. Horde, is just plain awesome.

    This is a Gears game for Gears fans. I am a die hard fan and loved this game. It had a very "The Force Awaken"s feel to it, and it had to as it is starting a new generation of Gears Games. Its different, and it is good.

    The 4th Installment of the Gears of War franchise is the most gorgeous console game I've seen to date. I really like the level design and the combat is fantastic. Best 3rd person action game I've played this generation hands down

    I just finished the campaign and I love it. It was incredibly fun to play through. Since it is my first Gears of War game, I played through it on normal difficulty so I could get warmed up to the style of gameplay.     This is defiantly my now favorite gears of war game. Campaign may be a tad short (10 hours on hardcore) but is delivers extremely well. Horde mode is way better than the last one, took a bit to get used to the class system but it makes it more team based. And MP is and as good as ever, I like almost ever single map

La formala è sempre la stessa: Tps con visuale dietro la schiena leggermente spostata di lato, dove le coperture sono la parte fondamentale dell'azione. Il feedback di ogni arma è magnifico, molte coperture sono distruttibili, e il numero di nemici su schermo diventa altissimo a volte. Sono state implementate anche nuove meccaniche di assassinio, nuove armi come un fucile a pompa che spara due volte con una singola pressione del grilletto e ovviamente una serie di nemici nuovi.
    La storia raccontata, è semplice e di impatto: siamo JD, il figlio di Marcus Fenix, adirati verso il nuovo regime di CoG e verso un padre assente, cerchiamo asilo presso un gruppo di sovversivi, ma una serie di nuove (e vecchie) minacce ci faranno tornare a combattere. La trama da un ottimo pretesto per macinare orde di avversari e il gioco si finisce senza sentire frustazione ne ripetitività, merito anche del gameplay perfetto.
    Graficamente il gioco è superbo, 1080p e 30 fps nel single player e 720p a 60fps nel multi, gli scorci e le ambientazioni sono come sempre pazzesche e l'Unreal Engine fa i soliti miracoli.

The visuals are stunning on the standard Xbox One and no doubt looks better on the Xbox One S and PC, the only issue i came up with was the lack of campaign achievements but that's just my opinion on the fact, but overall i give the game a 10… Expand

    It's Gears Of War, folks, either you love it or you don't really care about it's existence but just like the first game, the second and the third it's a solid game that you really can't hate on for no reason. Here's to another awesome Gears Of War game for the next generation.

    Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention how great the new characters are, they really did a good job and I hope they stick around for at least 3 more games.

    Oh and the final level is amazing, they turned the game on it's head in all the best ways. The ending to the game in general is the just great and it sets up for a sequel which we all knew would happen anyways.

    Now Metacritic is a really biased place, and usually games, especially Xbox exclusives, get hated on for no reason. This was a game that I was not sure whether I would enjoy it, and waited until a sale a couple days back. Since then, I've put 31 hours into the game, completing the campaign twice and reaching level 24 as of this review. After all this time, I've loved nearly everything ofNow Metacritic is a really biased place, and usually games, especially Xbox exclusives, get hated on for no reason. This was a game that I was not sure whether I would enjoy it, and waited until a sale a couple days back. Since then, I've put 31 hours into the game, completing the campaign twice and reaching level 24 as of this review. After all this time, I've loved nearly everything of this game. This is not a perfect game, and probably should be an 8 or a 9, but I put a 10 to try to balance the score.

    Pros:
    1. Great gameplay if you are into gears or 3rd persons shooters.
    2. Very solid Campaign, that has great graphics and fairly interesting scenarios
    3. Marcus Phoenix returns!
    4. Multiplayer is some of the most fun of all time.
    5. Maybe Xbox's best Multiplayer game, aside from Halo MCC after its recent patches.

    Cons:
    1. Story plays it too safe and has a bit too many cliches.
    2. Microtransactions, quite a lot, that I am pretty sure are all cosmetic, at least I haven't seen anyone that gives you a competitive edge.
    3. Season pass

    So overall, this game is worth it if you are able to look beyond the story, microtransactions/season pass. Well after all my praise, is this the best Gears of War? Well, simply put, I've only played this and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. This is by far better than Gears of War: Ultimate Edition in my opinion though.    … Expand

    Gears of War 4 is the best thing that could have happened with the series in the hands of a new team. The Coalition, though not able to reach the level of the original trilogy, but offered a strong action movie that will please fans of shooters with a pleasant variety, unexpected solutions and memorable scenes

    The Coalition has managed to successfully bring every great elements from previous games into a new setting. Whether you go for single-player, multiplayer or horde mode, GoW4 hast plenty to offer. The visuals are stunning and the gameplay is the best in the series thus far; and despite shortcomings in the story and development of characters, GoW4 is easily one of the best third-person shooters of this generation.
