    This franchise is great, the best of my childhood was spent with this game and I don't regret it at all. Music, story, atmosphere, characters, relationships between them are great. I just hope that gears 2 and 3 will be remastered one day

    Melhor Gears de todos, acho que teve um pouco de downgrade com relação ao 4, porem nao significa nada perto das inovações que teve, armas muito bacanas, inimigos muito bem feitos, o controle do jack achei sensacional, historia legal, mundo semi aberto top. parabens The Coalition.

    Been playing the Gears of War series since 2006. Playing this one made me feel just as good as the first one. There are a lot of new co-op game-play elements that make you want to play it again and again. Also the new online modes are amazing.

    since last gen i had playstation 4, i could only recover gears 5 now with xbox series x. what can I say, one of the best games of the last gen. a true masterpiece. especially the plot took me a lot. absolutely recommend

    Um dos melhores exclusivos que o Xbox tem.Esse jogo é perfeito em cada detalhe, imersivo, gráfico lindo, gameplay desafiadora e frenética, merecia o Goty mas infelizmente não se encaixa nos padrões dos jornalistas que mal sabem pegar um controle. Perfeito!!!

    After spending the past few days playing through the entirety of Gears 5's campaign, I have to say that this is easily one of the better entries in the series. It was nice to see some of the changes Coalition made to Gears, however, I do feel a bit mixed towards some of the changes (the open-ish areas, for example). Overall I can say that the story had me griped in from start to finish just to see exactly where things would play out, and by the end of the game I felt a lot more interested in the world Coalition seems to be trying to build on here versus how I felt whilst playing through the previous Gears entry (Gears of War 4, which I found to be decent but no where near as good as the entries produced by Epic Games). Gameplay wise, everything in the game is standard for the whole Gears formula, which is fine - if it isn't broke there is no need to change it. Every mechanic in the game feels incredibly satisfying for a series that hasn't really strayed all that much away from its roots.

    The only negative that I have towards Gears 5 is the open area portions of the campaign. As much as its cool that they did at least try to attempt to change the linear nature of Gears by introducing a larger map to explore, there wasn't really a whole lot to it. It just felt tacked on, like the side areas were completely pointless unless you wanted to find upgrades for Jack and random collectibles (which were completely optional anyway). All it really did was make me appreciate the linear parts of the game a lot more, I felt that was where the game shined very well. I just wasn't a fan of the open areas, they seemed to just drag out the game more with redundant collecting and time wasting that didn't really add anything towards the gameplay except for an excuse to have a random sled to ride around on (the skiff).

    There isn't a lot that I felt detracted from Gears 5, it's an amazing game and definitely one that I can recommend. It helps that it's on Game Pass right now, definitely a solid game worth playing if you have the availability!    … Expand

    Campaign is great (one of the best campaigns in shooters I ever played), PVP and Horde modes are just ok, escape mode is boring and underdeveloped. Graphics is top notch, on par with Naughty Dog games but in 60 fps. I really like shooting mechanic and variety of enemies. Gears 5 is definitely must buy game for single player campaign.

    I've been waiting for a great first party game from Microsoft Game Studios the whole Xbox One life cycle it feels like. With Forza being the only other game worth note Gears 5 is a very welcome surprise. Its beautiful to the eye and to the controller.

    In order not to scare away Gears veterans, Act 1 plays just like any other game in the series with some minor tweaks. Then on Act 2 the new Gears begin properly. It looks and plays amazing, even on Xbox S, one of the tightest controls I've played this generation, multiplayer is a blast, as usual. Definitely the game Xbox needed this gen. Will put other games on the backlog for some time now.

    It's one of the best Xbox one games ever, The Story is amazing with great impact in the overall gears saga, It looks fantastic on Xbox one X, and plays flawlessly in single player or even co-op.

    the only problem I had with the game was that if you played the early access (because of gamepass) you could notice some audio or checkpoint bugs... but those have been fixed already

    I've been a fan of Gears of War ever since the first entry launched on Xbox 360. I've played every mainline entry and enjoyed them all. I've actually felt like the series has improved with every iteration, if you compare Gears 1 to Gears 5 you'll see a stark contrast in colour palette, weapon selection, gameplay mechanics, game modes and    The breath of fresh air this series needed...

    I've been a fan of Gears of War ever since the first entry launched on Xbox 360. I've played every mainline entry and enjoyed them all.

    I've actually felt like the series has improved with every iteration, if you compare Gears 1 to Gears 5 you'll see a stark contrast in colour palette, weapon selection, gameplay mechanics, game modes and general feel of the game...

    It's quite fun hearing people go "This is just a bro shooter" or "big muscle men shooting stuff" as ultimately that's only a small part of what the franchise actually is.

    The story across the franchise has had a lot of heart, and the new characters introduced in 4 are so good that having them as the stars in this entry has been brilliant.

    Where Gears of War 4 was very safe, arguably the "Force Awakens" of Gears, Gears 5 evolves the formula into something new...

    Open world sections take over 2 of the acts, with optional objectives and side areas to explore

    Jack, a character you can play as in co-op, becomes a companion you can order about with some light RPG mechanics in terms of upgrading and unlocking new tools

    The new weapons add some fun variety, with "relic" weapons (hidden guns in the open world) becoming a new and fun mechanic which will put a spin on weapons you've already grown to love

    Stealth sections, something you'd never expect from Gears, whilst not as in depth as Deus Ex, they add a nice change of pace that allow you to progress through a section of the game in an unconventional way - or still run in guns blazing if you choose.

    You can play the entire campaign as a linear adventure like the prior games, but the new open world sections (which I'd compare to something like Tomb Raider) really give the game something new and the set pieces are superb.

    And that's just the campaign... the multiplayer is what you'd expect from the franchise, with the addition of Escape which is a neat play on a Left 4 Dead format, with a map creator.

    Highly recommend this game and would encourage everything to play through this franchise as a whole - this is easily my GOTY for 2019 (so far)...    … Expand

    Nice game, Kate is good as main character. Redesign of JD also looks badass. Game has interesting plot. New features as exploring big locations is good step forward. Upgrading of Jack is also good feature of the game.

    Graphics on a base xb1 is still very nice, the lighting and especially fighting infected robots with all the sparks and effects adding a chaotic atmosphere. Escape mode sucks, the    Campaign is genuinely great with a lot of awesome moments and the gameplay is very enjoyable with the variety of weapons.     Rating it based on the campaign only. Top notch graphic. Level design is fantastic. There is room to explore. Most important, it kept the original Gears DNA. It's a must play for any Gears fan and a strong play for any fans of shooters.

    Gears 5 is a beautifully made game that has great gameplay and easy to use controls. It may not be as good as the original, but it is definitely one of the best Gears of War games!! The graphics are absolutely mind-blowing and out of this world!

    Gameplay: 8. It’s more of the same in a lot of respects, but it’s still a step forward for the series.

    Sound and Music: 8.5. Some of the music tracks are truly beautiful and the soundboard for this game is excellent.

    Fun Factor: 8.5. This is probably the most enjoyable Gears to date, and while I could’ve done with more bosses, I really dig what we’ve been given.

    Depth: 9.5. With all of the collectibles and modes, I think this is one of the deepest third-person shooters in gaming history.    … Expand

    Pleasant surprise for a franchise that was facing increasing apathy, visuals are great, gameplay is solid, AI is not 100% dumb, acts clip along nicely although act 4 is a little short, The cast of characters is great and imo they are much better acted/written this time round, overall A very good game and a great entry in the franchise.

GOW4 has already taken a big step forward and moved away from the classic mechanics of playing GOW towards game-travel. But part 5 didn 't just inherit it, but developed it. This is clearly my favorite part of the series, which has even been able to surpass the 2 part. 2 open level great new experience for the Gears gameplay, yes a bit empty on the map, but it clearly went to the plus. And the plot is very dynamic and there are a couple of twists. Thank you Microsoft for playing such a game, looks great on Xbox One X.

Honestly, i liked 4, but was worried if The Coalition can move forward and make a game that felt refreshing. Felt it could've gone either way based on 4, though after GEARS 5.     The campaign is awesome but I ended up wanting more straightforward action like in the previous games, with a very intense but pretty short final act. The developers said that this is a map 50 times bigger than any other Gears game, but taking into account the fact that most of the really big map is pretty much empty with just a few secondary missions and lots of "skating/skiffing" time, it really does not give you the feeling of a 50 times bigger game, not even a bigger campaign, which has a duration slightly higher in comparison to previous releases.

    Now the bugs, I found a significant amount in the campaign (not as bad considering this is an early release, but still a release). In some extreme cases the experience was compromised, but nothing a quick game restart wouldn't solve, I hope those are getting fixed soon with a patch or something. In the online experience, mostly in multiplayer modes, most players are experiencing issues, those are already been taking care of but the overall experience is far from perfect yet.

    The game in general feels really fun to play, the feedback from guns is awesome, the tuning, the sound effects, the ambientation...It is a game of those which keep you sticked to the controller for hours, in both the campaign and the multiplayer, really enjoyable! Kudos to the amazing team which made this happen!

    That said and despite the issues (bugs), which should be fixed like in previous releases, I consider gears 5 is a significant improvement over Gears of War 4, with an awesome campaign, a really nice multiplayer and lots of additions making the overall experience much better. It is not perfect, but a must play for all the fans of the Gears saga.    … Expand

    Search times can be long in Australia so needs a quickmatch mode where it will just put you in any available game no matter what mode it is. Add the ability to filter what you search for like the latest COD modern warfare.

    The micro transactions hysteria has been blown out of proportion. For example nearly everything you can ONLY unlock by playing the game. There are only a couple of cosmetics you can buy which change weekly.

    Gears 5 is one of the best pure Action Games the last years. The Story and the characters are good too and The Sense of Fire is Really Good. And the Plot ist not Bad.
    Ultimately, I think anyone who has Xbox and likes shooters should play it. if you do not want to spend 60 €, you can also play it through xbox game pass as I did

The story and character writing makes all feel so much more realistic. The open world portions of the campaign were a well needed chance to slow down to appreciate the game world. The free roam and side quests were an excellent addition to the Gears formula. The areas do feel empty sometimes, but it feels like they have built great base that can be improved upon with newer iterations of the series. The light RPG mechanics are welcomed addition as well. Using and leveling Jack up with new abilities adds even more depth to already solid gameplay. The gameplay itself is the same tight smooth 3rd person cover shooting that Gears has been famous for. Quality and smooth controls have always been a staple of Gears and the Coalition did not disappoint with 5. The graphical detail in this game is superb. On PC and the Xbox One X running at 4K 60 fps this game is a visual feast for the eyes. Multiplayer has been expanded as well and has something to offer for many different tastes. Everyone from a beginner to a hardcore gamer can find a mode to hop in and enjoy. Escape, Horde, PVP matches, there is no shortage of multiplayer sweetness. the same tight smooth controls, excellent graphics from the campaign are all present here as well. Over Gears 5 feels like a good start in a new direction. Is it perfect? No, but there is a great foundation with new mechanics and ideas that could be expanded and improved upon. Gears 5 isn't a full blown reboot of the franchise, but an evolution. It still feels like Gears in every way and the new additions only add to the experience. This is a very solid game, and a huge improvement over Gears of War 4. Gears 5 could be the beginning of a new Era for Gears games.… Expand

Gears 5 Really has that 1-3 feel of the dominating Locust threat and it feels RELENTLESS with the action and doomed Cog fate. This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL in the visual department, sound, music, gameplay, set pieces, etc.

But, I can't stop playing the campaign and I'm on Act 3 already in 4 hours play time. It's that good. I'm also playing on beginner which is fun for me, but there are still the higher difficulties as well. I have had no issues with the vehicle sections so far, that others have mentioned. Nothing has taken away from my experience.

Kait herself, is tough, one of the guys, holds her own in conversation and the battlefield and makes a likeable even relatable main character. The story is ramped up above and beyond any Gears before with a high stakes Pilgrimage for Kait to find the origin of the Locusts. Her frequent dark possession and haunting overtones drive an emotional tense haste while building a shaky level of trust, fear and sympathy throughout.

    The Coalition finally delivers for themselves, us and even the Xbox platform, a full-bodied character story driven narrative, cinematically delivered and hitting all the right notes and peaks from fright to fight and devotion to desperation. Gears 5 story truly feels like the biggest movie, the most touching moments, laugh out loud comedic beats and an overall feeling of a huge blockbuster story with direction and attention to detail. You'll want to see each of the 4 acts through. Each one motivates you emotionally in mystery and intrigue. 9/10

    GAMEPLAY: 10

    Gears of War has never disappointed in tbe gameplay category. It literally defined the third person cover shooter genere, and for the past 10 years it's mostly been unchanged. Gears 5 was in desperate need of evolving to keep things fresh and The Coalition took the award winning formula of Gears combat and cranked it up with much more variety and unleashed the shooting mechanics to feel in my opinion like the best of any third person shooter you've ever played. Gunplay is tight, natural and hard hitting visually, physically at the controls and contextually as the world destructs and enemies stumble and rip to shreds on the wrong end of the bullets. You'll find yourself less often in cover and more on the move, taking the high ground, flanking and using a creative approach with many more gadgets and ways to dispatch enemies. This is partly in thanks to Jack a floating R2D2 like robot that doesn't just open doors and hack panes, the gameplay has been opened ⅓ with Jacks new passive and active abilities that make him like a commanded squad mate to help and buff you in what is meant to be single or two-player co-op. You can have a third friend play as Jack and with a dozen active abilities that evolve over the course of the campaign, you'll have plenty to do, even as Jack. That is where the gameplay has evolved far beyond any Gears before it.    … Expand

The campaign starts you off with a bang and by the time you are done, you will be wanting even more, hint there will be a Gears 6. Graphically, Gears 5 is arguably the best looking game this generation, utilizing HDR to the fullest and runs in 4K/60fps, something no one would think a game that has this much detail could do.

    The MP is robust to say the least with multiple modes like VS (this mode has 3 or 4 modes alone with in it), co-op, Horde, Escape and for the first time ever in a Gears game a map editor/builder. No doubt this game has hundreds of hours of gameplay, with free future DLC. If you are a Gears fan or even an action game fan, this game is for you. I recommend a buy and if you aren't sure, you can also hop on Gamepass and play it for cheap. No doubt one of the best games this generation and so far the best game in 2019.

    My only grips with the game are that the servers seem to be functioning at around 70%. Takes a while for you to see your stats or for your stats to be updated. Also had a few saving issues from time to time, as in I'll be playing the game and it was a continued saving sequence, then booted me back a few minutes. Again I believe this will be fixed and it is not that big of a deal. If not for these issues, this game could have been a 10/10. It is that good.

    Gears 5 is an odd thing; it's neither a grand leap forwards, nor a complete rehash of what came before, and therefore sits somewhere in the middle of the two. On the whole, the improvements do outweigh the negatives (the non-linear approach to campaign levels and the small changes to horde mode being some of the most notable), and while The Coalition still has some work to do to really make the series its own, this is a far bolder and more varied approach the relatively safe Gears 4. If you love shooters and you want a good place to jump back into the series, this is perfect place to work the rust out of your lancer.

    Gears 5 proposes a breathtaking solo campaign and a generous array of multiplayer modes. Even if the recipe remains classic, we really want to go through with it. The characters are rather well written, the environments are often spectacular, and Jack the robot adds some salt to the gameplay. A visual feast and glorious action game that perfectly demonstrate Xbox One X's true power.
