150 of the 700 cars are not purchasable with in game credits, of course these are some of the best cars.
You need to achieve a "collector tier" if you want to buy cars in that tier. Which you get by buying more cars. So you have to spend your credits on trash cars you don't want just to be ALLOWED to buy the cars you want.
Prize crates are another way too force you to dump credits on stuff you don't want. But since some cars are only in crates, have fun trying to avoid them.
The VIP package was blatant false advertising and a real spit in the face to consumers.
The game is buggy and runs like trash compared to Forza 7 and FH3.
    Day 1 DLC....
You don't get more credits for turning off assits which equals more grinding for those damn crates.
The AI is still pure garbage even on higher difficulties. They are only harder since they get an OBVIOUS power boost compared to your car, but they still drive like they are on average.

All in all, a game with potential but that got defecated on by greedy publishers. Just buy Forza 6 instead or some other racing game. Stay away from this

I knew what to expect, a polished up version of FM6 with a few extra tracks and a few of the most modern cars; apart from that, maybe a couple of sweet surprises as a 'cherry on top' to highlight the advances made in the in-between years and ready for the new Xbox system with 4K capability and technological enhancements. From the date of my pre-order right through to 4 day early launch, I was excited and overly- eager to jump in and race. That day arrived, I got to my Xbox much earlier in the day than I normally do and launched the game. After around 6 hours play , I had seen and experienced a huge disappointment; 30 minutes later, I had my refund, Forza Motorsport 7 was well below my expectations. Now, if this was a stand-alone title, a one-off or a new franchise project, then I could probably have accepted it as an 'OK' game, but it's not it's Forza Motorsport, by-words for a guaranteed world class, dependable and respected product, reliable and a leader in racing titles. I came across many bugs, very slow loading of races, we have splash dialogue help boxes that covers the UI, most of the races I did had rolling-starts, the pits are the pits, the dynamic weather is not so dynamic, I cant find weather settings in free play, other options missing also. There is little in the way of enhanced credit/xp for turning off assists, I have to spend hard grind credits on cars I don't want [ever] to qualify to buy cars I do want, there are cars I want that I might NEVER get a chance of owning. My car has stopped at random spots .. just stopped while the rest go driving on past; my game has closed down twice without notice while waiting for a race to load. I found the 'paint & design' workshop dark, hard to do the design work in that environment. Then the let-down of all let downs.. the much loved, highly rated gameplay mode 'RIVALS' does not exist as we know it and love it ... it was this discovery that finally did it for me, this is not FORZA Motorsport as I know it .. all through the series [and Horizon series] this is the feature that makes the game for me. All this after only around 6 hours play, enough was enough, give me back my money and I'll buy GT sport for my PS4. I say if this was a 'different game/franchise, I could rate as about 6 but this is Forza Motorsport and because of the pedigree I can only give a generous 3 [PURE NFS MAC] Expand

-VIP is a disappointment with the removal of the permanent bonus.
-Cars being restricted based on collecter rank and locking cars to random chance via crates is an insult.
-Removal of credit bonus for racing on harder settings.

There's plenty more to be disappointed about and the minor improvements over Forza six are overshadowed by foundational core features that has been removed. The foundation to buy any car in the game and the ability to modify a cars to the PI limit of the race.

Wait till on this one till it's been fixed or on sale.

    - No class races in Career ( Division races only - Customizing your cars makes no sense, you can enjoy your 1000 hp Honda in Free play only)
    - Launch bugs (F....ng lot of them including Graphics, gameplay, etc..)
    - AI Sucks!!!!!!!!! (in the beginning, they just crash into each other, no improvement from previous titles, the first two drivers get far ahead really fast, also, increasing their skill only gives feeling they get a little boost, they brake early, brake on places where they shouldn't be, and they don't really give a **** if you are in their way, they just ram into you)
    - Loading times are so long I can cook dinner while I wait
    - Splitscreen still Basic (No cockpit view, no AI, no rain tracks) Maybe it's because of console limitations, however, PC players, don't even think about split-screen.
    - Loot crates (prizes repeat which can really piss you off as some cars are only available through these).
    - You cannot buy all cars at will
    - VIP is pointless (forget about 2x credits)
    - First, you have to quit race, only then you are able to restart
    - No Affinity
    - No Rewards for turning assists off
    - Short races have only 2-3 laps, then it is much more, I am not sure how many exactly, but there is nothing in between
    - No fun at all
    - Worse thing is, I don even think I have all the negatives here
    - Music is not really fitting

    Verdict:
The Fall of Forza - How Forza lost its passion for cars.
Heartwarming feeling, when you were tuning your car in the beautiful sunny hub surrounded by some chilled electro tunes and playing with all the settings just so you can take it on the track and earn points, and have this awesome feeling that you are a really good "mechanic" and that you made it possible to win just by tweaking some settings, that awesome feeling is now gone. You just look at your car in a dark garage, you can tune, but you cant use it in the career nor multiplayer, free play only. It's so sad that we are experiencing this as auto enthusiasts. It's like these cars lost their soul and you cant give them yours...
Basically, they took away all the fun stuff, I am going back at least to Forza 6, hope they fix this **** then I will maybe get back to it, what a shame, so much potential got wasted on stupid new ideas which no one asked for. They were supposed to add features, not remove the only fun features this game had.

Unfortunate for the franchise to see some of the directions the devs have chosen to take. Once again you've got day one DLC exclusive to people who shell out more cash upfront, early access before the critic review embargo. Loot crates and more fantasy tracks but nothing for the hardcore racing enthusiasts. If you own Forza 6 there is no reason to get this except for the resolution (4K).

All options to modify the race to your taste (night, rain, storm, etc) are removed and put behind gambling box.
What's next? remove break from your full price racing game and put it in shop? Yeah, who need break in game where you win by going forward; so break isn't critical to the game and should been removed and put in shop to give player "option" to get it or not.

Some cars will be homologated to 635, others to 650, and others to 680 etc, instead of just limiting them all to A class. This ruins everything from the career races to the online leaderboards.

The game is by NO MEANS a TERRIBLE GAME. The game is simply TOO SIMILAR to FORZA 6 for me to justify spending $60 on a game that looks and feels like an update to the previous game. The graphics have been updated slightly most noticeable during inclement weather situations; other than that the graphics engine seems mostly the same as 6. The reason for the low score is the fact there are TOO MANY BARRIERS to getting the cars you want in career mode. In forza 7 they have implement a car collecting system which in short forces you to buy cars you dont want to earn collector score. Once you have bought enough cars that you will probably never use then you may unlock the next tier. The FRUSTRATING part is that if you want a specific car you will have to obtain a certain collectors tier by blowing all your money on the cars you dont want. OR YOU CAN PRAY to the mighty TURN 10 CONS and hope to get it in a loot crate.

As a Tier 11 Forza Fan, I can't believe that I'm writing such a poor review about what has been my favorite racing franchise for a decade. However, despite this game's gorgeous graphics and fantastic physics it's absolute garbage when it comes to everything else.

Forza Motorsport 7 is what happens when a successful gaming franchise abandons their dedicated player base in the pursuit of profit. This game appears to have been designed from the ground up with the Freemium or F2P (Free-to-Play) Model as its top priority. Naturally, you won't get it for free. You'll still have to pay $60-100 for the opportunity to grind away for CR just to access the cars that you love, which are now locked behind tiered restrictions and Loot-Crate RNG. You won't get any consistent CR bonuses for No Assists or VIP either because that would interfere with the game's new forced economy. Now the only way to gain additional CR is by purchasing Mod Cards from Loot Crates using CR, which can help you gain CR. So instead of just enjoying the game and saving CR for the cars that you really want, you're forced to burn CR on Mods and cars that you likely don't even want just to unlock the tiers with the cars that you do want. Some of the best cars can only be obtained through RNG from expensive Loot Crates that burn more of your CR. This artificial scarcity and forced CR grinding for content that should be included in the base game becomes tedious quickly. Some people will say that Forza isn't a F2P Model because they don't use micro-transactions...yet. Turn 10 has already confirmed that they're on the way once the conditioning of the player base has finished. It's clear that this game wants to create artificial barriers to encourage people to take shortcuts by spending real cash in addition to what they spent on the game, which is exactly how F2P Models on mobile games work. Generally, they compensate by making the game cheap or free but Forza isn't about to do that.

While the Loot Crate F2P system works perfectly, there are still many launch issues that have yet to be ironed out, clearly indicating where Turn 10 and Microsoft's priorities lie. Wheel users are out of luck since the FFB is basically unusable. The AI is ridiculously bad and a huge step back from previous games, braking on straights for no reason and forcing me off the road as they hold their line no matter what.

Forza has officially abandoned the dedicated player base with this release, replacing Class-Based Career and Rivals events with Division-Based ones. Now instead of choosing from 100s cars and building one into a class based on PI, you can choose from 5-10s of cars and build them into a restrictive Division. This change will likely eviscerate the Forza community as players learn that the Class-Based tunes on their favorite cars can only be used in Free Play. What was Turn 10 thinking?!?

I think I'm finally done with Forza. There was a time when their franchise was so dominant that they could get away with this, but I think that time has passed. The competition in this genre has been getting better every year and they don't take away beloved community features or try to gouge you for a game that you've already paid for. Outside of the graphics and physics, Forza has been in decline throughout this generation from FM5 forward. This was just the final straw after many disappointing design choices and unresolved issues. I didn't turn my back on Forza and Turn 10. They turned their back on me.

One of the joys of previous forza titles was the option to customize and tune cars within class parameters. We cannot do that effectively anymore in career mode. The game forces opaque changes to your car to make it 'equal' to the competition. Why not just have a score limit and let players upgrade and tune within that score limit? Whoever thought of this new mechanic should be fired. NotOne of the joys of previous forza titles was the option to customize and tune cars within class parameters. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First...The New homologation idea is very good and necessary... but... Visual steering wheel lock to 90 degrees!! people playing with a steering wheel will suffer as I do, the worst virtual hands on wheel, look at the renault f1, the hand overlap the car!!! 1500000cr, Loot boxes!!!!!(they are testing us to implement this **** still no real racing rules, no qualify option, no dynamic Weather (it is scripted and for only a few tracks), no apex time, no difference for the car in front, WTF!!!! its a Racing Game! a motorSPORT! a full price one and it looks like a mobile game with all that random gamble cards and boxes, so why not make another serie, a Forza freemium, real racing 3 competitor, a game for all platforms, don´t screw the motorsport series and sorry but there are too much trucks, dirt cars and forza horizon cars, Limo!!! and in the seventh edition I expected more than a thousand cars, gran turismo 6 for PS3 got 1200, Forza 4 got 700 plus.
I've played severe hours of all Forza motorsport, not horizon, since the first in the original xbox, I simply finished 1, 2 just 25%, 3 and 4 but I didn't played Forza since 4 that was a fully customizable game with no micro transaction (Forza 7 don't got now but there will be soon), no cards and no loot boxes and I ve bought the nurburgring DLC but I just can't believe people fall into that diabolical scheme and pay to win or to look better besides the game price, in this game you should be able to customize everything with no price, you cant customize your driver, for exemple, you need to buy or gamble with loot boxes, we should fight against gamble in this industry, the people who like games as a form of Art, creativity, Culture and entertainment don't support this kind of attitude from developers, we are educated and intelligent people who knows what we are consuming and we don't want any corporate policy to make any psychological game design to addict us and **** with our cognitive system, beyond this, The Price practices in Brazil, twice the price of F1 and project cars2 is unfair.
Besides this annoying corporate scheme and ideological mislead from the original series, a MotorSPORT series it´s becoming a MOTORHORIZON series, The graphics are amazing, it performs good in the max setting in my PC, 4K 60fps is becoming a must for racing games, you gain a lot looking for the turn apex, 100 meters plaque and references on the horizon, the night transitions have amazing skyboxes and track lighting changes, the weather is good but don´t impress me and it is not dynamic but this is the best game to play in a gamepad, preferably the xbox one with rumble triggers, sensational for braking and acceleration feedback and there is no new generation game out there that you can play with a car you can buy or even with your own car.
The presentations for the career is awesome, it improved a lot, still need some improvements, look the codemasters F1 series the best racing career ever with ambients and characters, rpg structure or even FIFA the journey with a great story line but in forza you still got ken block voice messages, story of other drivers, the graphic design for evething is amazing and the game design of the career is better than the past editions, for sure, excluding the inherent need for mods or loot boxes cards, pure gamble that leaves me to the question, I can´t understand, why the assists is no more a "MOD" to increase your earnings, because it should, you have to truly master the game and it is probably because they changed the system to allocate this microtransaction scheme, pay or gamble to win not play hard like a pro to win, why not the "mods" is your perfect curve, perfect pass, perfect drift, perfect draft, fastest lap, best sector, clean lap and if you bump each others cars, go out of the track, cut a curve, miss a gear, break too much, get passed you get a negative mod, that would be a motorsport series, go grab your filthy money on the horizon series.
The best feature in forza games, for me, is the paint and apply decals, that changed nothing since forza 4, just added more community decals, it is not good but it still there and the way your design is offered for other players is rewarding because anyone can pick your design for a specific car without going to your front store and the game offer the option to give a like if you are using this design for some time, this is awesome, a incentive for creativity. The interesting and unique feature of Forza is to tune your car after hours of testing and setting up the differential, height, camber, wings and so on and them designing your car putting your mark, your signature, and go race on line. And the new homologation system is great because it brings the game more to the reality, the old system fits into the horizon series where you do crazy Scheisse, so there are people crying for nonsense cause, point for turn 10 when they bring the motorsport series to motorsport realit

It had almost double the amount of vehicles in it and more tracks which are all pluses. Unfortunately, after playing the game for about 20 hours or so, the one emotion I have to describe how I feel about this game is disappointment. Yes, the game has many vehicles, but you can't tune them up the way you would like because of the new vehicle class system. All the fun about Forza games in the past was that you could tune a lowly econobox and have it be competitive with sports cars depending on what level it was (eg. A, S, B. ect.). Now you have a certain PI index number, a certain tire width, and certain tire compound that you can't go past in order to compete. In my opinion, it takes away from what made Forza, Forza. In a more positive light, the graphics are better than 6 and sounds are more realistic. The car selection is pretty good, but they have a lot of good cars hidden away behind loot crates and special challenges, not to mention the new program of collector tiers in order to unlock cars to buy. The loot crates and collector tiers are by far the worst additions to this game, or any game for that matter.
The online play and rivals are also a big let down. When it was first released, it had no open class racing in online or rivals. As of late, they added A class racing, but that's it. Until they fix that, the online play will be ruined for me and many others.
As far as the career mode, its very repetitive and boring just like Forza 6. By trying to make the career mode seem more exciting, they actually made it worse. Forza 4, for me, had the best career mode simply because it was so simple and endless. After playing it for a good amount of hours, I have decided to uninstall it from my XBOX, and go back to Horizon 3.

I mean there is NO way these reviewers can give those scores for a game that runs and plays like it does in it's current state. It’s been mentioned in countless other reviews, but the addition of loot crates is just the worst thing they could have done.

Racing is about skill. A good racing game will allow you to progress and build your skillset, rewarding you as you go along based on your improving ability to overcome challenges of increasing difficulty. There should be a clear path of progression. Eg. If you want this car, then complete these tasks. Well, in this game, you earn credits from racing but you can’t just go ahead and open items in the game that you want, thus defining your experience and progression by choice. Oh no, not in 2017. We’ve got that glorious infection that is called loot crates here, so welcome to your random bonuses, and gamble your life away ‘hoping’ to get something you actually want.

It’s a bad joke, and it ruins the game.

If you’re still interested, the mechanics are good and the graphics are gorgeous to be fair. In the future, however, i won’t be buying another title from Turn10 if they include loot crates. Save that stuff for free games on mobiles. To include it in premium paid-for titles is just insulting, and i’ll be voting with my wallet from now on. I suggest that others who had the same experience do too.

**** this stupid ass game, the rival system is by far the worst ****ing thing ever, if you barely mess up and go off track, it flags your lap, im fine with that, but don’t make me do a whole extra lap to get rid of the damn thing. I was trying to do a challenge and it required me to get a fastest lap in a Chevrolet or Honda indy car on a random race track clearly not made for indy cars, as**** this stupid ass game, the rival system is by far the worst ****ing thing ever, if you barely mess up and go off track, it flags your lap, im fine with that, but don’t make me do a whole extra lap to get rid of the damn thing. I was trying to do a challenge and it required me to get a fastest lap in a Chevrolet or Honda indy car on a random race track clearly not made for indy cars, as soon as i was about to go around the last turn, one tire hit the grass and it flagged my time, but then i had to do another lap without making a single mistake which is boring as **** all i’m trying to do is get a fast lap time, beat my rival and finish the challenge, took my 45 minutes and i finally finished it, and then it didn’t give me the reward, and i had to do it again, idk why but it did, and the same ****ing thing happens over and over, mess up, do an extra lap, can’t rewind cuz that’ll flag it too, it’s so ****ing stupid. **** this game, finished the challenge 8 times and i still didn’t get the reward, **** you fm7 Expand

Sure, this game has a lot of cars and good presentation, but it's not near as good as other racing games out there. Carrer is broken and makes no sense, AI is weird and sometimes very stupid, there are still bugs present from release of the game, soundtrack is poorly chosen and load times are way to long. For me, this game was not fun at all.

    Several unfortunate changes in as usual robust, photogenic and over-riding video game. Still a great circle Forza, but due to this year's competition, the creators are unnecessarily risking in a hunt for few extra bucks. [Issue#279}

As a package, Forza Motorsport 7 is a solid game for racing fans and a technical showcase for the Xbox One X. While it doesn't look quite as good on the Xbox One, the game still holds its own on the older console and puts in a respectable performance. Just don't spend too much time looking closely at the scenery if you're not playing on an X.

Of course, FM7 has its share of problems, like shortage of tracks for some car classes, lack of management options in career mode and all-but-braindead AI, but the point is – it’s finally possible to play for the driving experience itself.[Issue#224, p.50]
