    Turn 10 and Microsoft are charging $60 $80 for Forza 5, depending on the version you get. However, despite the full price tag, they are treating this like a "free-to-play" game. As it aggressively pushes for microtransactions.

    You might hear a lot of players say "Oh, you don't need to buy tokens!" And they're right, you don't NEED to, but the game has been designed from the ground up to milk extra cash out of you.

    Proof:
    - The storefront is gone
    - The auction house is gone
    - Gifting cars to your friends is gone
    - Sharing your cars in a Club is gone
    - Earning cars as level rewards is gone
    - Affinity bonuses don't get you free parts anymore
    - You can't sell cars back for money anymore
    - You can't sell parts back for money anymore

    The end result of these changes is this:
    Getting new cars is a LOT more time consuming. Earning enough money to buy and upgrade multiple exotic cars requires excessive grinding... or buying tokens of course.

    Forza 5 throws out so many of the things that made previous Forza titles great so that they can milk their loyal customers as much as possible. It's like a slap in the face to someone like me, who has been loyal to the franchise for eight whole years.

    Skip this entry. With any luck Forza 6 will avoid these downfalls.

    Good graphic

    - Bad gameplay (input lag like Need4speed: Shift1+2 Ahoi!)
    - no steering wheel works support for older steering wheels and pedals
    - Free2play functions in the game. Since I prefer to play RaceRoom Experiance (Free2play PC simulator from Simbin).

    I'm waiting for GT6

    I am so seriously tired of games in which the first thing you see when you get to play is micro-transactions and DLC. This is the last Forza game I pre-ordered. With the next one I'll just wait a few weeks for some reviews and opinions and if it's anything like this I will say my goodbyes to this series.

    All that aside everything else is fantastic. Graphics are not a massive leap over 360 but a noticeable improvement. Cars look great and sound great and are very detailed. You can have a close look at every single car with Forzavista you can get in, listen to the engine sound, look at the interior and listen to TopGear crew give you some background and history for every model. Driving is phenomenal and very intuitive. You can "feel" your car and you notice the difference when changing for a different one. One thing I did not like is the impulse triggers which is the new feature for XOne pad triggers that vibrate when you accelerate or brake. Some people like them, some don't but they drove me nuts and there is no option to turn off just the trigger vibrations so I had to disable them all together. Another thing that didn't feel right to me was music. I guess it's just my taste but orchestral and epic, action movie-like soundtrack don't belong in a driving game. There's definitely less content than in Forza 4 but it's by no means a small game. It's still huge, just not as huge as before:)
    I give it 4/10 as there's a lot of fun to be had but because of it's horrible business model I absolutely discourage people from buying it. It's really frightening that this is happening in the very first games for a brand new system. I really hope developers will reconsider their decisions, otherwise we have a dark times ahead of us where even a full price AAA titles are riddled with intrusive microtransactions.

    It's a pretty game, but it has half the content of the previous game and they expect you to pay $50 to get the rest. In my eyes this a rip-off. It's like you're paying full price for a free-to-play game.

    Far too many micro transactions and the game is now designed to make it very difficult to obtain new cars without spending extra money. Why does the game publisher have to be so greedy, instead of just letting the gamer enjoy the driving experience?

    no global/overall leaderboards;
    no purely dedicated hot-lap mode;
    no multiplayer hoppers for playground game-types;
    no level/event reward cars;
    no discounts on upgrade parts with manufacturer affinity;
    no multi-screen support;
    limited local split-screen support;
    cannot free-play (test-drive) all unpurchased cars;
    cannot sell owned cars back to the game for credits;
    only 14 tracks included at launch (FM4 had 26);
    only 200 cars included at launch (FM4 had 483).

    ...Not only are prior features & content gone, but no advancements were made in key game-play areas, such as:

    no new tuning/upgrade options;
    no new wheels/rims;
    aerodynamic parts still not repaired during pit stops;
    still no pre-race tuning in multiplayer lobbies;
    same old repetitive/grinding achievements.

    ...And to add insult to injury:

    heavy micro-transaction promotion (almost like a free-to-play model in a full-price game);
    day-one paid DLC;
    very long loading times;
    many un-skippable narrative transition screens;
    navigation between screens/menus/areas not as user-friendly as before;
    new lighting & reflections can obscure vision of the track & nearby opponents;
    various bugs/glitches.

    ...In exchange for all that was cut from prior Forza installments, Forza 5 offers:

    better graphics;
    different driving/handling physics (questionably better or maybe worse);
    3 new real-world tracks never before available in Forza games;
    2 new fantasy tracks never before available in Forza games;
    expanded "ForzaVista" interactive showroom;
    "Drivatar" opponents that try to mimic other human players' driving;
    "Impulse triggers" that vibrate to deliver throttle & braking feedback;
    a few new built-in paint colors/patterns & more layers. ...Forza 5 seems like it took many steps backwards just to make one tiny questionable step forward. If you enjoyed Forza 4, Forza 5 may feel like a kick in the teeth: it costs the same (or more) while delivering far less. With less than half of the content variety & none of the community functionality of prior installments, Forza 5 offers little in the way of depth & replayability/longevity. Some have already dubbed it "Forza 5 Prologue" due to how incomplete it feels. ...I seem to recall some pre-launch promotional videos & interviews in which Dan Greenawalt (creative director at Turn 10) said things like: "we've been making Forza games for over 10 years & we've gotten really good at it," and "we're delivering a full game at launch." Forza 5 falls way short of these statements. Microsoft & Turn 10 were very vague & tight-lipped pre-launch about Forza 5's features, fueling pre-order hype on rumors & speculation with almost no substance to back it up. ...The ultimate driver for change in capitalism is profit, and we'll only see disappointments like this continue if consumers keep buying it. All the critical reviews in the world won't matter if there are enough sales to keep fueling such failures. As it is often said: vote with your dollars. ...(This review is based on the standard November 22, 2013 retail launch version of Forza 5 for the Microsoft Xbox One console. Some items discussed here may possibly change over time with updates/patches; if so, however, that would not excuse the game's very poor showing at launch.)

This may be a Gamestop thing, but either way it sucked. For a higher price tag, I would think the game would have more content. Of course, as the others are quick to point out, this is not the case. I can understand the lower number of tracks, as to get those as accurate as they wanted is a true challenge and a marvel of technology. Next is the car list, which is smaller, but still a lot of very nicely done cars. One thing that annoyed me was the fact that the cars were not even downloaded, and you had to download them all individually. Then I see the Bugatti, a car that I never had much of a care for, but it was also not downloaded. I try to download it, and a message pops up: "You must be part of the VIP club to get this car, please purchase the VIP membership for 20$." I spent the next minute starring at the screen, wondering if this was a joke, so I check the store page, and I find the worst thing that has ever happened to gaming. DAY ONE DLC! NOTHING is worse than Day One DLC, and Forza has an abundance of it. 20$ for a small collection of cars and access to tournaments, something that we should already have for buying the frigin game! On top of that, they already have nearly a dozen cars done and ready to buy, for several dollars each! Not even to mention the 'season pass', which is 45 more dollars! This is what is ruining gaming, even worse than DRM! We can't let more franchises fall like this, so spread the message: Day One DLC and unnecessary DLC is NOT cool! Expand

They essentially made the game "always online" even when you arent by forcing you to race with real peoples drivatars. Drivitars are basically bots that remember other peoples playstyles. This means that races are now **** of cars ramming eachother and not following the correct ways to race unless you feel like playing on the hardest difficulties way above most peoples skill level. Also, the game has a "rival" mechanic. This mechanic is completely broken as it buffs a random racer on the track to the point where no mater what place they are in, they will win and there is nothing you can do about it. Your rival will have a car that has a performance level way above yours, meaning no matter how hard you try you wont win as a class B Mazda Miata is suddenly doing 200mph down a straight away way out of your reach. 10- Car Clubs no longer exist

No more rating indicators of how well you did turns or passes, just the occasional "good turn!" in words...which is stupid. Buying a new car forces you into a skin selector with skins you don't car about. Haven't discovered any way to upgrade or improve cars. The voice overs are awful and seem out of place. You get stuck on grid way in the back without ever a qualifying round. Good luck managing your way to the front. The car controls are classic Forza, so that part is still good. The game has an amazing physics engine that surpasses all forza games. You can sense the rubber of the tires gripping at the track. However, the physics are really the only thing good about the game. The game directors have slashed almost all of the features from fm4, reducing the car count from 500+ to 200 or so. TWELVE tracks have also been removed, including Infineon, Sedona, Hockenheimring, and the all-holy-to-car-lovers Nurburgring. That's right. There is no Nurburgring Nordschleife or GP circuit in Forza motorsport 5. On another topic, Turn 10 has decided that you should not be able to free-drive any car. Free drive mode has been neutered so that you can only test drive 20 or so cars the game, and no, you cannot unlock more cars to free drive unless you buy them in career mode. I have no clue as to why they would commit such a blunder. On the subject of the intolerable lack of cars, which Turn 10 arrogantly labels as "quality over quantity," is not quality, it is a LACK of content. But that's not to say that you can't blow your bank account on overpriced day-one DLC. So if you buy Forza 5, keep in mind that you are not paying for the full game. If you want the full game, you are going to have to spend around double the retail price to get the "DLC" that should have been in the game in the first place. Now, career mode. Career mode is a shell of what it was in Forza 4. The only type of play is season play, and the storefront and auction house are gone. Sorry to the dedicated car design artists, but I guess you'll just have to keep playing the now-outdated Forza 4. The reason that the auction house is no longer in the game is because Turn 10 wants you to run out of car credits so you have to purchase "car tokens" in order to buy or upgrade cars. This game is a shameless cash-grab, and despite the lovely physics, this game is shallow, unfinished, unrefined, lacking in content,and absolutely not worth buying. Expand

But even on the higher difficulties, it turns into a smash fest. Nothing like passing a checkpoint, noticing that this is your best lap ever, only to be pasted into the quicksand grass by the drivatar behind you. Rewind is a great option, but you lose credits so it punishes you for something completely out of your control. And finally we come down to car choice. Every car has to be bought. If you play through the campaigns one after another, a good chunk of your money goes into just continuing on. And then there is tokens. I spent $60 on this game. I have a life. I have school. I can't afford hundreds of hours to unlock a single car, and I truly can't afford paying out sometimes $30+ for a single car. I got the game to drive cool cars. I can't even afford them, and don't see a way to do it other than grinding or breaking the bank. The biggest surprise to me (besides the lack of tracks, cars, auction house, gifting, sharing, test driving, etc.) was the lack of drag racing. I know that many people don't bother with drag racing, but I do. It was the sole reason I kept coming back to Forza 4, and now T10 means to tell me there isn't any drag racing at all? Not even one track? Please, don't even get me started on the horrible Cloud driving system. All the drivers are completely erratic and aggressive. It also doesn't help that they always end up braking at the most questionable times because the ghost that is racing had to brake in front of a car that doesn't exist in the current race. It's a horribly thought-out system that is very disappointing; it makes me long for AI (which I never thought I'd say about any game). The only thing that has improved in this installment is the graphics, hands down. Expand

    Simply not good. T10 went backwards with FM5. With only 200 cars and no nurburgring, FM5 is the first forza on xbox one....but definitely not the best of the series. The micro/macrotransactions shouldn't even exist for a title like this.

    Forza 5 is a next gen title that takes away things from the previous generation and leaves a lot of content out that really should just be there by default these days. What do i mean by this? What do i mean by this? Racing games like Project Gotham Racing 4 had about 15 different weather effects, and not only that, but your cars reacted to the weather effects. It would even start raining halfway through a race or stop raining halfway through a race, or it would go from light rain to hard rain. And like many racers, it even had a day and night cycle or day and night races. And Project Gotham Racing was from way way back in 2007 when last gen was just finding it's feet. Simple things like this can obviously be done on current gen hardware as they were being done well in racing games way back in the days of the Playstation 1 and 2. If we had 15 different types of dynamic weather in a racing game way back in 2007, why couldn't Turn 10 give us even the simplest of weather effects, or even a day and night races? Is it because they are lazy? Is it because they aren't capable? Is it because they want to save that for Forza 6 or Forza 7 and try to milk even more money from racing fans? My guess is the last one. I can see Forza 6 having some kind of weather effects, then Forza 7 having even more advanced dynamic weather. Then they will boast and brag about it as if it's a revolutionary idea, even though previous racing games from 2007 had it in. This is why they have added less cars and tracks from previous Forzas. They want to milk the cash cow and sell you Forza 6 and 7. Those will inevitably have more cars and tracks, even though they could of easily fitted them into Forza 5. Hey they had no problem fitting them into Forza 3 or Forza 4, and those 2 games were on old hardware and on a DVD disc. Forza 5 is on a Blueray disc and holds way more content than a DVD. This milking of the industustry and taking steps back is killing the progression of gaming. Why should gamers buy a latest next gen game when it has much less content than previous old generation games? And not only that, they have to pay a much higher price for the privilege of having less content! It doesn't even have the Nurbirgring! I mean cumon now, whoever at Turn 10 thought that it was a good idea to leave the Nurbirgring out should be taken out to a field and shot! Right' i'm off to play a game from a developer that really does care about making a great game rather than just holding back to milk the industry for everything it's worth. Yeah that's right, Rockstar Norths Grand Theft Auto V! *BOOM* Expand

    Agree with most of the others. This is clearly a strategic release for Turn 10 and Microsoft to profit off of future DLCs. This game is an absolute disgrace to the Forza name. Likelihood of replay is very low after the first week or two. Terrible.

    Only reason I'm giving some credit is that the maps and car models look very good. Aside from that, very shallow and superficial game.

    The content you genuinely get to access in your $60 game is extremely limited. That would be frustrating enough on its own, but on top of that, the micro-transaction model is so pervasive it's like driving around with a used car salesman in the backseat. Sure it might be a sweet ride, but how much fun can you have when you're treated like a mark? In my case, at least, it's not much.

    As a gamer for over 30 years and having experience on many racing game platforms across consoles, handhelds and PCs, it is sad to see how a perfect storm of the new Xbox One platform, the day one launch release pressure and overall poor design leadership has almost completely ruined what was a great racing franchise.
    I’m not sure if it was a requirement from Microsoft or a brown nosing effort by Turn 10 to continue the ‘Metro-style’ interface from the console into the game interface, but it seems to have left them very limited in how they can tackle menus and options throughout the game. Overall interaction within the Forza 5 interface is frustrating and you never seem to be able to perform the functions that you want or would expect to do in areas that now offer other strange options. Half of the things you were able to do within various menus are now gone while others are in strange places or require a lot more clicking around to find.
    I will cover some examples. The only way to access your current cars or to buy cars is to go into career mode. Even though the cars from your garage can be used in rivals, multiplayer and free play modes, they have opted to send you into the career mode menu to access your garage or purchase new cars. This would seem more logical on the front page, but they have already assigned huge blocks to the 4 different racing modes and a set of smaller blocks to get at other minor functions. The front menu also sports a double block for some kind of ‘marketplace’ which continues to be tagged as ‘coming soon’. This front menu could have been made to scroll from left to right for further items that should have been available here, but it seems that they chose to lock themselves into a single pane on the main menu for some bizarre reason.
    Also in the career menu is the ‘Forzavista’ function which replaces Forza 4’s Autovista feature and now offers up a brief intro for every car in the game. As you pan around the car in ForzaVista mode, you have an option to go into a limited upgrade menu. For some reason they figure that you will just want to make changes to the wheels and aero here or use the ‘quick upgrade’ function. Nobody with a clue uses the auto-upgrade function. If you want to get the full upgrade and tuning features, you have to go back out to the front menu and use the upgrade/tuning menu there. Hopefully you have selected the car that you want to tune from your garage in career mode – otherwise you will have to exit upgrade/tune back to the front menu, enter career mode, enter the garage, find the car you want to tune, get in that car and then go back to the front menu and re-enter the upgrade/tuning area. All of these extra steps become tedious very quickly.
    Buying cars as you grow your fleet can also be frustrating as there is no indication in the ‘buy cars’ area to indicate which cars you already own in your garage. For some reason the garage icon on cars you already own has been removed. So, once you own dozens of cars and receive gifts, you have to constantly be on top of your garage contents or double check your garage to ensure that you are not buying a duplicate.

    The tuning features are also buried in the upgrade menu by pressing the X button from the upgrades area. So, it becomes a lengthy process to back out of races and then getting in to adjust your cars tunes. Also gone is the ability to load your tuning setups from the start race screen in career mode. So, as you progress through a series of career races and you want to change from a tall gearing low aero setup to a short gearing high aero setup, you are forced to quit the race and go back to the front menu to enter the upgrade area. Then enter tuning and then load your setup and then re-enter the race. It becomes amazingly time consuming.
    The previous editions of Forza have turned me into a major tuning tweaker and it is one of the features that I love about the Forza engine and its physics representation of those features. It was amazing to go and run a set of laps on different lines and doing curves, turns and breaking points differently on a series of laps and then to be able to go back and review the race with the telemetry to see where you can make improvements to make your build that much better. Those days seem to be gone in Forza 5 as there is now no telemetry available in the replays anymore. You now have to fuss with the telemetry interface while you are driving a live race and either have someone else keeping an eye on the numbers while you run the course, or risk running ridiculous lines and going off track while trying to monitor the situation yourself. This is a terrible feature to lose for the tuning geeks of the game. It is now almost pointless to offer the telemetry because it is too hard to focus on driving while moving between the telemetry panes and monitor where the numbers are going off while running clean laps during all of this. That has to be the most ridiculous change in Forza 5...

    If you're like me and have had each Forza game then do not go into F5 thinking it is going to be as good as F4, it simply is not. The lack of tracks is unforgivable, it becomes monotonous going around and around the same tracks trying to get enough money to buy your next car. Some of the tracks looks beautiful, but others are just bland and boring. You cannot sell cars as you could in the past, and you cannot buy a part and upgrade / downgrade to the same part again without having to buy it once more.

    It is such an inaccessible game now. The social elements are so lacking it is a shame, there is no car club any more, no sharing cars, very few fun meaningless multilayer modes to play with friends.

    And Driveatars... oh my. Great in theory, but in practice - a gigantic pain. Lets face it, in single player most of us will drive like fools and ram the NPC cars off the road or bounce off them when going into a corner.. so when you factor this into the world of driveatars - your races are full of people ramming you off the road, cutting you off and slamming into you.

    Fundamentally this has the potential to be a great game, but what is holding it back are the lack of tracks, missing social elements and completely broken car upgrade / sale / sharing function.

    + The menu screen has taken a big improvement from 4 and so have the graphics and the physics, the vibrating triggers are great and it gives you a real sense of how fast you're going around a corner or how hard you're applying the breaks. The credit system that is in place for when you level up is great as I personally thought that 4 gave out cars like sweets at Halloween, apart from it was cars and you got one every time you leveled up, now you get credits instead which gives you more freedom to upgrade your car or buy a certain car that you want, the affinity rewards are the same thing, apart from it gives you a boost at the end of the race and gives a certain percentage depending on how high your affinity level is.
    Overall I give this a 4/10 as the negatives are much more serious than the positives.

It is quite disgusting - what if a teenager bought this game with his pocket money?

So far, it's been a struggle not to get frustrated with the Drivatars constantly wrecking and brake checking constantly. Each race, you start near the back of the back and have to work your way to the front in 2-4 laps. Wouldn't be so bad if the Drivatars drove like semi-competent racers. Instead, they will slam into you mid-turn, slam on their brakes when not necessary or completely crowd every turn going 4-5 wide. Expand

    Save yourself some time & money: just play Forza 4 on the xbox360.
    Forza 5 is a major step backwards with half the content of Forza 4.
    Sell your xbone if you bought it to race with.

    How does microsoft get away with selling the same game/content over & over just by adding 1 to the number after the name?? Doh!

    If your new to the forza series you will not find a complaint about this game, if your coming from any of the other forza motorsport games and looking for this to improve on everything that has come before....Im sorry you will be dissapointed.

    If this game were released as a 360 title, its a safe bet the stores would be full of this second hand and be unable to shift any of them

    Now for the full indepth review, read on if you dare:

    OK at a glance the game looks amazing and visually it is about as stunning as you could possibly want it to be. But unfortunatly thats where the good news ends.

    A game by its very nature is designed to be played, FM5 fails to play very well at all. or rather it plays very well for the first couple of races, then you realise that your actually doing the same races, on the same tracks just in a slightly different car.

    Will start by reviewing the "career mode" there is no career as such, meerly a bunch of championships that can be raced in any order, there is no change of format just 10 races in each championship, no sence of achievment for topping the chart as 1st place winner, you get gold for being 3rd and higher. You dont even get a cut scene for any trophies being won. But you will get a lot of cut scenes and not be able to do anything about them, gone is the skip button, you will have to listen to every championship introduction. Then the long wait while the game loads the race you want.

    The career mode actually feels and plays more like the event list (grind the levels put a tick in the box) I should know as i have completed 90% of the event list on FM4.

    There is no way of checking to see what cars your going to be racing in any of the championships, there is no CAR RESTRICTIONS list.

    as there is no natural progression to the next event, it is also very hard to keep track of what events need to be completed. As i said before the event list on FM4 is very similar, only you had the added benefit of seeing a tick next to completed events.

    Then once you do get started on a race you have the dread DRIVATARS player based AI drivers that seem to emulate the actual driving of people in public lobbies, IE crash into them before they crash into you. They brake on the long straights, they plow into you on the corners. the advantage is you can see your friends names over 5 of the cars, the others are always random.

    Then we have the multi player side of things, this is where forza series comes alive....but unfortunatly this is severly restricted to either public hoppers that are for tuned cars only, if you want to give any standard cars a fun blast be prepared to not win any races. The custom made public lobbies of 3 and 4 are gone. You can still create a private game where your friends can join or you can invite others to (IF THE OPTION TO CREATE PRIVATE RACE WORKS!)

    After a full 6 months of being released the online user created private lobbies are still hit and miss on working.

    The public lobbies are so full of crashers and cheaters as to be pointless in joining.

    Then we have the leaderboards, we you have cars setting fast laptimes most of which are glitched, some intentional and some by accident, as i write this one time on the leader board is set to -7 seconds, he actually won the race 7 seconds before it started. When you cast your mind back to FM4 the glitched leader boards were the biggest problem we faced in that game. NOw it is the least of the problems facing T10

    Basically to sum it up, Turn 10 took everything that made them the top racing game developers and threw it out the window.

    They started on a not only a new chapter but a whole new book. Unfortunatly they failed to take note of what actually made the previous books so popular.

    If your looking for a game that is better than Forza Motorsport 4, you will have to look elsewhere.

    Visually it is better than its 360 predecessor but that is the extent of its improvment, everything else is one giant stepo backwards.

    Turn 10 have fumbled the ball on this one big time, will there be a handover or will T10 be able to recover and take this game to the end zone? We are now at the 6 month stage where most games tend to be on the downward spiral FM 4 had me playing for years.

    I really tried to enjoy this game since I own a XOne and will not buy a PS4 in the next few years...
    This game is short on cars, short on tracks, has no progression, you can jump in anycar you can buy... The races with the slowest cars (class D), pay exactly the same the races with formula/prototype cars, I bought on sale (Live Gold) but I would not advice someone buy for more than 20USD...

    Oh, and, by the way, the half of the game I did play wasn't much fun. Apparently, the developers think that we are so horrible at racing these days that we deserve a bronze medal ... for finishing in 10th place! And you get gold for 3rd! And if you do win, you still only get gold! Also, who has ever heard of a championship without a points system? How can any simulation racing game be enjoyable under these conditions?

    At least the graphics are amazing. But don't buy an Xbox One just for this. Play "Gran Turismo 6" for PS3 instead.

Action shots of supercars power drifting around a wide open street with lens flare popping through an attractive city scape...throw in some sirens and you got yourself a great looking Need For Speed trailer. I thought to myself, is this really the direction Forza is going?

    Consider the recent past, Forza 4 had fantastic content and really picked up from the misstep of Forza 3. It also was a perfect juxtaposition to Gran Turismo 5. Forza was quick to award you cars, credits, and give you part discounts so you could quickly do what you wanted, modify your cars and race them without a GT5-like-credit-grind. But with Forza 5, be prepared to grind it out or buy an XP booster.

    But there was DLC for Forza 4, a car pack almost everyone month, albeit steeply priced. I let it slide because, for the first time, tracks could be part of the DLC and that is a fantastic way to breathe life into a racing game. I had my fingers crossed for Spa, Brands Hatch, or maybe even Watkins Glen. Despite there being a menu in the store for tracks, none came, and once Forza Horizon was announced, all DLC development for Forza 4 stopped and was directed to that game instead. So here is Forza 5 with Day 1 DLC...that's an oxymoron, and consideing how much content is absent at launch, it's scary to think how much it will all cost. I gave them +$120 for Forza 4 LCE and a Season pass, I'm not doing that again.

    Some of the most fun I have had in the Forza series is tossing around a race car from the American Le Mans series. Watch a real race and you'll see Forza Motorsport sponsorship everywhere. And in these races, you watching multiple classes of cars race around the track for hours, stopping for fuel, changing tires, adapting to weather conditions, racing into the night, etc. All in a motorsport SPONSORED by FORZA....a series that has NONE of that.

    Forza 2 is why I bought a 360 Elite and a wheel, and the following Forza 3 and 4 are the only reasons I kept it. But here are the reasons I will not buy an Xbox for Forza 5:

    1. The exclusion of Maple Valley, Infenion, Nordschleife Nurburgring, and Suzuka.
    2. The introduction of credit grinding to unlock cars, enticing racers to purchase XP boosters or buy the cars outright.
    3. The inevitable onslaught of expensive DLC content.
    4. No practice mode to test out the cars you want to buy on any track.
    5. No weather or night driving.
    6. No endurance racing or proper multi-class racinng.

    Maybe Forza 6 will deliver in spades, but I'm not buying an Xbox until I see it.

    Meanwhile, for those with PC compatible wheels, check out iRacing for genuine online racing, or Assetto Corsa (beta) for the best tire modeling and drifting out there, or drool like everyone else with anticipation for Project CARS.

    - Nice graphics (although it's just FM4 all over again imo) and Forzavista.
    - Cars sounds are nice and throaty.
    - Top Gear challenges are very fun.

    Bad:
    - No change in physics at all from FM4, still way too little lateral grip above 50 km/h and exaggerated oversteer everywhere.
    - Still no weather and time changes where competitors have. Next-gen? Absolutely not.
    - No auction house anymore.
    - Still races are 2-3 laps. Why would you race any longer anyway? It's not like it's a driving/racing game...ahum.

    Absolutely a kick in the nuts and utterly disrespectful towards the fan base:
    - An extremely limited car list of only 200 rides. Prepare to race against a field of 16 opponents in which there are only 6-8 unique cars. This has 'repetitive' written all over it.
    - Fourteen tracks...seriously? Forza 4 had 26(!) tracks. And worst of all, NO NORDSCHLEIFE anymore. This game is clearly not intended for motoring enthusiasts. Combine this with the maximum of 3 laps....it's fully understandable that the reviewer thinks the game is repetitive.
    - All previous steering wheels are not supported. INCLUDING THE 500$ FANATEC CSR, which was the Forza Motorsport 5 official wheel. You like more immersion? Why don't you just spend another 500$ because Turn 10 does not care about its customers at all. Utterly unacceptable.
    - And of course, other content is purposely held back and DLC passes are ready for you at 50$, so you can spend even more money. They aren't even embarassed of themselves announcing it from the start. Sure, why not, as surely a lot of fans will swallow it all.

    And the lack of content means a higher quality? Other than the nice visuals in Forzavista, the actual racing graphics look almost like GT6 on the ancient PS3. Not next-gen worthy at all. The cars/tracks were supposedly built from the ground up according to T10? Lies.
    "So, not all of our tracks are laser-scanned but most are. Some of them are pretty up to date with our old methodology, but we still wanted to update them so we went back to the old reference where we'd captured new reference so we could reskin, add the deformation, add the imperfections. But tracks like Silverstone were completely rescanned. Obviously new tracks like Bathurst and Spa [Francorchamps] and Yas Marina, these were laser-scanned with the new rig."
    (http://www.oxm.co.uk/66249/features/forza-5-turn-10-on-next-gen-physics-and-beating-the-launch-game-curse/?page=3)
    Not to mention that the lighting still is miles off...look at the static shadows beneath each and every car.

    But most importantly of all, gamers have to spend 500 dollars for the Xbox One, 60 for the game, maybe another few hundreds for a new steering wheel (400$ for the Madcatz, 500$ for the Fanatec) and another 50$ for the DLC to have the slightest slice of the content that Forza 4 offered immediately at launch. A thousand dollars just to play a game in which almost all good features and content has been removed in comparison with all of today's racing games. Heck, even the older Forzas were much more complete than this unfinished product. This is nothing else than disgraceful.

    Why would anyone shell out this amount of money for a game that is no improvement at all from Forza 4 in some aspects and massively worse than it in most others? I'm oblivious that so many people are still willing to take in all of the horrible decisions that Turn 10 has made. But I guess some are just not critical enough at all and are willing to spend it anyway on an inferior product of which the quality has been compromised to another new all-time-low level, just to have a 'next-gen' title on the shelf.

    To me, Turn 10 really has released a pathetic product.

    How do you ruin a great game like Forza 4? Introduce Horizon followed by a pickpocket experience such as FM5. More money, less cars, less tracks, less flexibility and no legacy peripheral support. Got a Fanatec wheel? Now it's a conversation piece. It's cheaper for me to buy a PS3, a Logitech G27 and GT5/6 than a new Xbox, wheel and game to expand my experience.

The same three shots of the post-race car from the exact same angle make me wonder if the devs on this ran out of ideas.

    they have abused the fact that people are prepared to prepay for a game they really know nothing about,
    I'll start off with the good as it is far shorter than the bad.

    Good:
    1. The graphics are unbelievably good.
    2. The handling characteristics of the cars is fantastic (as usual for forza)
    3. The new tracks they have introduced are fantastic.

    Bad:
    1. The menu's and painting of the cars is so confusing it gives me a head ache.
    2. There are so many tracks missing which should have been there before releasing the game.
    3. There are missing cars that just 1 month later they are trying to sell to us for real money!
    4. Online there is no points system (Very difficult to run leagues!)
    5. Online despite trying to arrange people into teams the game takes over and chages what you have set.
    6. The AI, while a good idea in theory, the actual results end up with you being taken out in a bend which should not happen.

    What i expected and would like to see future games:
    1. Realistic fuel usage, for example a Toyota aygo does not use the same amount of fuel as an Shelby Cobra.
    2. Realistic and online adjustabel Tyre wear (its nice to do pit stops in long races.
    3. A points system online and an ability to grid the cars accordingly depending on points
    4. Weather, Christ we now have the processors to manage it please can we have weather.
    5. Day/Night cycles.
    6. Stop trying to steal from us, ok make more cars available to buy for real money but dont make it that we cant see the car properly if we dont own the download.

    All in all a steaming pile of pointlessness, stick with Forza 4 its way better with the exeption of graphics

You idiots supporting this stuff giving this game a good score, this is why the companies do what they do, because you guys will buy if anyways.. $60 is plenty for a full game, but it seems now we have to spend over $100 for the complete experience. After the bs I've seen last Gen I can see it's only going to get worse, goodbye gaming, it's been a fun 25 years, but I will not support the overly greedy gaming industry anymore, and that goes for the PS4 too. I'll sell my Xone and my PS4 and go buy a hooker, I dont know, do hookers come with dlc too Expand

    This game is total BS and here's why: #1 less car than the previous installments (over 400 cars has been removed..!) #2 less tracks to play on. #3 the same exact upgrading system from previous installments, yes, nothing has changed. and #4, micro-transactions which is a total rip off. Next gen? yeah the graphics are cool and the sounds are okay, but the game is lacking in terms of content. 200 cars? seriously Turn 10?? I expect that they will be adding the rest of the cars which was available on Forza Motorsport 4 (nearly 400 cars to be added) through DLC in which they will be ripping the customer's wallets off with DLCs. The first 10 minutes in the game was great, but then when you progress through the Career mode after a while, it is boring and repetitive. I myself, loved the 4th installment of the franchise, leveled up to level 130, but every time you level up, they give you something in return, like if you leveled up, they give you a selection of cars to choose from, and sometimes they give you money credits for leveling up. But in Forza 5, that doesn't exist anymore, and the reason? Micro-transactions, the money ripper. I promised myself that I will never buy another Forza game until they get their sh#t together and respect their fans a little bit, not by ripping their wallets off. Expand

    Sad, Forza 4 was awesome and Forza 5 is just a watered down version of it. No auction house, can't sell cars back, slow interface. Now it's about developers playing who can screw people out of the most money and still have a popular game. The graphics are great, it's more like a movie than a game. Lost a lot of handling realism too, I would buy Forza 4 again, not Forza 5. Overall they seem to have run out of ideas, if that is the case don't release new games until there's a reason to. Sad to see company's get big and stop developing but raising costs. Just not that happy with the game. Expand

    This game is very sexy but under the hood a lot is left to be desired. The only reason I'm even playing this game are the 2 cars I cant get in GT6. Its a solid racer tho, but the microtransactions and pathetic line up of race tracks make me think otherwise.

    I bought this game used, THANK GOD. From the get go, had nothing but problems. Took almost 24 hours for the game to completely install (Including 14GB patch). Micro-transactions out the wazoo and GLITCHES galore! The road kept disappearing!!! REALLY! STAY AWAY FROM THIS, you will be sorry you bought it. Turn 10 took a big step BACKWARDS with this game!

    Motorsport 5 realy sucks.
    400 less cars than forza 4 and 23 less tracks and no more drag, drift or game modes. FORZA FANS DONT BUY THIS GAME. This game is a micro-transaction disaster, because to buy a car it costs more than $100 of real money. The game seems stripped of everything (amount of cars, tracks, races, upgrades, drag racing and drifting all gone.)

Though I am not an avid follower of the game, I have enjoyed previous installments, but my frustrations surmounted those experiences. While Forza will continue to boast their graphics and availability of cars, to which there can be little argument made, the game play far outweighs any beauty, in a negative manner. The system of difficulty is set such that computers are aggressive towards the player. Those that are behind will only hinder the possibility of progression through the field. This is increasingly frustrating on small tracks with tight turns as the player is placed in the back of the pack only to be blocked by a conglomerate of CPU's, designed to suppress the player, that are unaffected by any beating the player may deal whereas the player is penalized with damages reducing race performance. So, an indestructible force is placed in front of a fragile player. This makes game play very displeasing and frustrating.

    How could this be alleviated? Well, one may suggest that rather than having malicious CPU's, faster ones would be more appropriate. This has been done in the past and only makes the class system of vehicles a terrible hindrance to the player as they are confined to the amount of customization dependent on the race. It seems there is not a great way to produce challenging game play that is not frustrating in the disadvantageous manner that has been presented. Unfortunately, racing games will fall by the wayside for single player use like many other franchises have seen.

    Maybe there is hope for Forza 6, but it does not seem likely as Forza follows similar patterns in game play throughout the years only adding minor aspects here and there, it seems.

    Forza 5 continues the series with another boring and generic racer which feels like most other realistic racing games. Could not play it for more than an hour before putting down my controller in boredom. The graphics of the cars look nice, and some of the tracks are very detailed however, as a launch title, seeing the crowd look like cardboard cutouts is not the sign of a next generation game.

    Forza Motorsport 5 is an entertaining but bland experience. On one hand it impresses on the track with good visuals and fantastic handling. On the other hand it lacks content and the career mode is very dull outside of the races.

    Forza Motorsport 5 is not a bad racing game per se, but it feels kinda downgraded from the expansive Forza games of Xbox 360. The graphics are fancy, but that doesn't quite compensate the (relative) lack of cars and tracks. [Feb 2014]
