    If you’re a fan of twin-stick shooters then Flutter Bombs is a game you could well have some fun with. It’s not exactly in-depth, there are only 10 levels to get through, and it can feel repetitive after a while, but there are definitely worse ways to spend both your time and money.

    Flutter Bombs is a decent top-down twin-stick shooter that manages to get more right than it gets wrong. Whilst the core loop can become repetitive and frustrating due to some fairly lazy ideas, the game succeeds at maintaining player engagement through its commendable overall variation and its rich and diverse environments. That said, its simplicity makes this more suitable for the casuals rather than the hardcore.

    Flutter bombs really impressed me at the start as a huge fan of twin stick shooters, but the longer I played I wanted more from the game andFlutter bombs really impressed me at the start as a huge fan of twin stick shooters, but the longer I played I wanted more from the game and was quite disappointed in the length of the game outside of the achievement to hunt down. The butterflies and insects theme was quite cool but the lack of feeling a real difference in my gameplay fell short as I unlocked each new skin and the strengths behind it. At its core this game is a top-down twin-stick shooter and while it isn’t the best game I’ve ever played in this genre it’s still a game that provides you with a lot of fun and enjoyable moments. The game has a good difficulty setting for the general public but leave the true twin stick fan unchallenged. While you don’t really get frustrated you will still find it to get a little repetitive though especially if played on your own so I recommend that you take control of your butterfly in co-op to have some pure mayhem and fun with others.. Flutter Bombs may lack in a few areas but it definitely still gets more right than it gets wrong and if you’re looking for a fun yet simple twin-stick shooter then you can easily do worse than this game. It's priced fairly and overall not a bad game it is just missing a bit of wow factor. That being said I still recommend it as there is plenty of fun and challenging achievements in game to keep you coming back for more.… Full Review »

The best part of this twin-stick shooter is the nature aesthetic. The trailer for the game makes it look fun and exciting, "so many explosions" it says. Don't be fooled.

    The shooting is average with very little satisfaction to shooting the different bug enemies. They just kind of fade away after you've shot them enough times. The bombs, which you use to kill spiders and enemies on the ground that shoot stuff at you are painfully slow to fire and lack any kind of oomph. They feel weak and unsatisfying. There is also a mechanic in place where you have to fly around grabbing pollen bulbs in order to refill your gun and this is just tedious.

    All the stages except the starting one are locked. I guess that's fine, problem is, the game has no difficulty options. Too easy for you? Too bad. The real issue is if it's too tough for you. That means you'll be stuck playing the first level over and over. The first boss is tough, by the way, and it's an unbelievably overlong and boring fight. So most of the game will be locked away from anyone who isn't as skilled at twin-stick shooters as the developers have deemed necessary. No difficulty options.

    Then there's the game itself. Proud of your high score? Want to see how it measures up to other people? Too bad. No leaderboards. There are also no control options other than vibration on/off. Want fire on RB instead of Right Trigger? Too bad. Guess you'll have to go into the accessory settings on the Xbox and set up a custom button map. Like the look of the next butterfly and wonder how to unlock it for use? I figured unlocking the different "wings" or different aircraft, worked like unlocking levels. You beat a stage and then get access to the next set. Well, I beat the first stage and none of the locked wings are available. So how do you unlock the different wings? Is it score based? Time-based? Number of kills? Who knows? The developers decided not to put that info in the game.

    This just seems like it was done in a hurry, is really not quite finished, and wasn't made by shooting game players. The shooting would feel better if the developers were. So many obvious omissions. I mean no difficulty options? Seriously? Don't pay $20 for this. Just don't. There are way better twin-stick shooters for cheaper. Lovecraft vs Tesla, Neurovoider, Riddled Corpses EX, Geometry Wars, etc. Honestly, I can't believe the developers listed this game at $20 and can sleep at night.
