That was my second Far Cry and it was worst then New Dawn. I know that its a primal game and there is not a lot of story to be told in the area but I was not thinking that it could be that boring. You get sick of the voices very fast and the game is just ; kill animals to level up. I think that 25h for the whole game is too much, you get bored very very very fast.

I just finished it on Xbox Series X with 60 FPS and I gotta say it is still looking pretty good in 2022! Cool graphics and concept, nice gameplay, 40 hours to get „platinum”. I recommend it!

This game is not a good game. It's a fun game. The mission are repetitive and the boss design is just stupid.

If you are stuck finishing the game like I did, learn tame brown bear skill and restart the game. Now you will see Urki on the map for the main mission.

Expand

(Look it up kiddos) You play as Boga Boga and you must stop the rival tribes from decimating you while you try and rebuild your own. Much in the Far Cry fashion you meet interesting characters such as balding chick who is fascinated with taking the ears of her enemies. The shaman who is constantly making you drink blood and getting you high as **** The dude who pisses on you, and a few more down the road. The villains however are vastly uninteresting to say the least. Unlike Far Cry 3 and 4 the villains in Primal are just there. You have a tribal leader who is a cannibal which the game attempts to have you pity him. Then some tribal leader who just likes to burn people alive for her God. You get three interactions with them a piece with all being brief and ultimately boring. The games story is boring it is just plain bad. There is nothing deep, nor crazy that has you wanting more. With this being in the caveman era I was hoping for more of a interesting new tale, and not just kill them because they are evil story.
The game looks beautiful. While some say that it is a semi different version of Far Cry 4’s map you’d be hard-pressed to realize that while playing. I couldn’t tell you if the voice acting is good or bad being that they don’t speak English. I personally love the fact they don’t, but I can see a lot of people in the camp of, “Read! What the **** I ain’t reading **** My argument against that is would you rather them have British accent or New York, or even better a surfer accent?

The gameplay is why I enjoy the hell out of this game. The combat is well… PRIMAL to say the least. You are either shooting arrow, using or throwing spears into people, or my personal favorite beating them to death with a club. Where the game truly shines is in the beast taming mechanic. Taming a beast means that other beast tend to **** off so you don’t get the horrible Far Cry thing of getting ****ed up by a badger. This game funny enough gets stupid easy the more you play, and I am perfectly okay with that. I hate it when you put 8+ hours into a game and the enemies just keep getting harder so you never feel like you’ve progressed at all. I love feeling like King **** of **** Mountain and making my enemies run in fear. The crafting can get tedious at times and constantly grabbing material can get annoying, but if you don’t mind it the gameplay is brutally phenomenal.

Overall the game is a great 14+ hour experience with a ton to do and explore. You just might want to put a podcast on while you play because it has no deep rich story to speak of, and you have to read it anyways. I enjoyed the hell out of this game it is so far the best thing I’ve played in Q1 of this year, but The Division comes out tomorrow so we’ll see. I give this a 4/5, if you like Far Cry but were on the fence about this game you should buy it you won’t be disappointed. To the others I highly recommend checking it out we rarely get games like this and it is so cool and interesting I want to see more of these kind of games out there. Ubisoft took a chance on this game and I hope they get a good return investment out of it.

First i played it on normal for a few hours, good game, delicious immersive world and hunting/crafting system.
Then i deleted my char and made one in SURVIVING mode (u must delete one to make another on Xone).
Well, the survival mode have some excellent things who could make it one of the best games i ever played and some disgraceful things who completely ruined the game for me, because of the bad things i got angry with it and eventually stopped playing it.
-Less resources and animals: excellent, now the world looks more realist and the hunting better.
-Stamina bar: excellent idea, makes the game more realist.
-No minimap: should be optional but i can deal with the loss.
-Permadeath of companions: well, looks very realist and i can deal with it BUT... there are glitches who kills companions, can't imagine nothing more irritating...
-Harder to tame: ok, sounds reasonable.
    -Mounting fatigue: realistic.
-Reduced loot capability, longer crafting duration, etc...: good.
    Now there's the bad changes.
-Nightime, longer nights: annoying, i don't wanna play a beautiful game like this at night...
-More predators at night: What was already bad now its worse.
-Darker night: Because **** those who can't see well and all other who play with the room lights on.
And the worst of all changes.
-Companions have reduced health: Jesus christ, its not only unrealistic, it exists with the sole intention to f**k with you, after spending 20min to chase and tame a grown up cave bear and almost die in the process because now its harder to tame, your bear is WEAKER than a wild bear... Sometimes it can die fighting another weaker animals...
For me this was the change who made the game unplayable, they got the best thing the game had (companions) and made them weaker than normal ones and now have permadeath.
Whats more frustrating is that they could simply make all of this changes optional, this would make everyone happy but no.

Far Cry Primal is an open world game set in 10,000 BCE. Because of it's unique prehistoric setting, I was hoping for an equally refreshing gameplay experience. In that regard, I was disappointed. That isn't to say it's a bad game - far from it - it's just that Far Cry Primal isn't otherwise anything special. This review is based on my playthrough on survivor mode with the expert difficulty level.
    THE GOOD
    - It looks amazing, with great graphics and varied environments. Cutscenes are gorgeous, textures are consistent, and nothing looks out of place. It also runs perfectly.
    - Visually and atmospherically, the setting is superb in execution. It lends itself well to a sense of exploration, which is especially prevalent at the start of the game when you are dropped into an unknown world to fend for yourself. Discovering the land of Oros was some of the most fun I had. It's such a diverse land full of animals and only sparsely populated with (usually hostile) humans. Everything looks, sounds and feels as it should.
    - Taming beasts is a very cool mechanic; having a sabretooth tiger by your side is always a good thing. I appreciated how the beasts each had different stats and abilities. Alongside other wildlife and fauna, the beasts added to the setting.
    - Moment to moment gameplay is fun and even exhilarating, at least to begin with. When you're still discovering everything Oros has to offer, and before you've seen the handful of mission archetypes repeated dozens of times, it's a great game. Combat is fun at first, but what you see is what you get, and it never develops into anything above mediocrity.
    - There are lots of difficulty settings, so the game can be tailored to your liking.
    - There are some genuinely interesting characters, and the two enemy tribes are also worthy of note for their differing cultures. These factors make the story worthwhile.
    THE BAD
    - It has it's fair share of bugs. I genuinely have no idea how a few of my tamed beasts died. Most recently, I was just walking around when my tiger just vanished. He can't have died in combat, because there was nothing near us and I was given no prompt to heal him. He just vanished and I couldn't summon him again. This wasn't a lone event, as similar things happened to a couple of my beasts that can only be obtained once, the best you can get, so this was extremely annoying. There were other bugs, such as when a mission didn't go to plan because the tall elk I was supposed to hunt didn't appear. I went into where it was supposed to spawn and it was just stood there. I killed it and it didn't even move. That was a very easy mission for me.
    - The AI can be appalling. There were plenty of instances where I could beat an enemy or beast to death without any resistance whatsoever. Enemies react slowly, and often just stand still and do nothing... this is all on the highest difficulty setting.
    - There's this one Izila enemy that kills you in one hit which is very frustrating. Some beasts can kill you in two hits so being surrounded by a pack of them is annoying too.
    - Tamed beasts are often unresponsive and don't do what you want.
    - Some of the animation is really clunky, such as that of tamed beasts when just walking around.
    - Character models are reused all the time. So many people look identical, which really impacts the suspension of disbelief.
    - Combat doesn't suit large groups at a time. The difficulty can feel artificial as it seems the game is just throwing too many enemies at you for you to deal with. It's never that hard, just monotonous having to deal with so many people.
    THE BORING
    - There is NO mission variety. It suffers from map mess, meaning there's always stuff to do everywhere, but everything follows the same structure. It gets very repetitive very quickly. There is no real content, only blatantly inflated game length via constant reuse of the same tired structures.
    - Quests are tediously formulaic, and have no story to them so I never knew why I was doing anything.
    - The combat is heavily restricted by a lack of weapons, enemy types, and repetitive enemy encounters.
    - There is quite a poor sense of progression. Weapon upgrades never feel that substantial.
    - Collectibles are utterly worthless and another example of blatantly inflated game length.
    - Although everywhere is beautiful and graphically impressive, there aren't many memorable locales because everywhere is filled with the same activities and structures (camps/bonfires/outposts).
    - Lots of the skills you can unlock are very dull, and just mildly improve an existing quality.
    CONCLUSION
It's good, but not great. It drew me in with a beautiful setting, but let me down with shallow gameplay. It's fun most of the time, but it's really nothing special. You won't be missing out if you don't get it, but it's pretty easy to recommend as some mindless fun. I believe it deserves a 7, as I can't deny I had fun, which is what matters.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I actually really enjoyed this game. Idk why but I just do. an yea its a modded map of a section of Farcry4 but I honestly dont care. I really like the ability to "tame" animals. (Bloodfang is life and my lil buddy badger) I can understand why some ppl dont like this game like one reason is its "too grindy" which I can easily toleate since ive put a total of 3000+ hours into the entirety of the Monster Hunter series. Now the setting being 10,000 BC I really enjoy, very few games go to around this era of human history. (even if its fictional). I liked Farcry 3 and 4 (not much on 2) but I like Primal alot better than those 2., maybe bc ive played waaaaay too many modern era shooters, so something like this is a breath of fresh air. Now the Udam u capture to b apart of ur village, is honestly one of the more likable characters. imo I feel sad for him but I honestly enjoy his character. Now I know my opinion is "unpopular" and some ppl will call me an "idiot" nonetheless for liking it, but its one of those rare few games tht feel like im not playing another mediocre game, but make me feel good to play it. I recommend this game if ur used to "grindy" type of games and/or played way too many of the "similar" games in recent years when it comes to the setting of which a game takes place. (and gameplay)
P.S. The world is just beautiful. It gives off like a "warm light" atmosphere tht just feels very calming and "happy" even with all the killing and gore.

The missions get quite repetitive and the hunter vision makes it too easy to spot predators and enemies. Where FC3 I relied on sound, which emmersed me, now with FCP I can just tap on the hunter vision and there an enemy is. Overall I still enjoyed the game a lot and loved the setting, just wasn't quite as fun as it's predecessors. Expand

Best single player game since Skyrim. Everything works, everything looks perfect, the story moves at a perfect pace, and all the missions flow together no matter the order. Perfect single player campaign.

Far Cry Primal is not only my game of the year 2016, it is also the new no.1 in my "all time favourites"-list. After 18 years "Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines" has finally to pass the torch.

    But why is that so?

The first impression gives delights me with great graphics and a wonderful prehistoric setting. And, of Course now a days, it is an open world. But Far Cry Primal feels to me, like the first ever REAL open world. I do not feel rushed to help a friend or to kill a bad guy. Most of the time I can do, whatever i please to do. Main quest, side quests, hunting, taming, exploring, building new weapons or my very own little village.
And the one generic thing being critisised in every open world game, in Far Cry Primal actually has a very good reason: You MUST collect a lot of things provided by mother nature, simply because you need them for construction.
And sometimes I don´t do any of that. Sometimes I just wander around and watch. A group of deers eating grass, just to get attacked by a flock of wolves. A little boy in my village, who turns around a stone to eat the insects underneath it. A young couple getting it on in a "secret place" near my personal cave. A woman moaning and walking out of the village just to sit in to the grass and make a pile of you know what.
There is so much life in this game by merely doing nothing and that adds a big amount of atmosphere to it.
At the end of the game I had tamed, hunted und skinned every animal, I had build the complete village, I had found every secret spot, I had conquered every outpost. This is the first open world game where I actually conquered the magical 100% in completion.
It took my about 65-70 hours and not one minute I regret of it.
To me Far Cry Primal is a perfect gem, just like back in 1998 Commandos was. So if Ubisoft thinks about bringing Far Cry Primal 2, they better do not change anything to the worse.

    a nice change of pace.

Far Cry Primal is a first person action adventure survival game set in the Stone Age.
You play as Takkar, just a regular hunter, who’s then tasked by a woman he runs into to go rescue some of her people and instantly become the leader of a new tribe…
There’s very little emphasis on narrative here, just a quick introduction and then you’re free to do whatever you want… but there is incentive to follow through with helping your tribe mates…
This for the most part is a recourse gathering game…
By gathering resources you can craft better weapons, build huts to upgrade your village and unlock skills.. And of course craft food items to help you survive…
That’s basically it... explore the world... hunt animals for their skins…
You can even eventually tame them to help you in combat…
There are of course human enemies to deal with.. not just aggressive animals…
Outside of the 14 hour campaign you can liberate areas to unlock fast travel points, and you can do side quests for characters you meet in the woods…
Your tamed animals help you with a simple call.. they’ll even stealth with you if you go into stealth mode …
Your weapon option is about as varied as you’d expect for the stone age, you get a club, sling, spear, bow and arrows, traps, and bombs.. all of which you have to craft as you use them…
None of your tools are indestructible, thankfully wood is vast and as you upgrade your crafting skills, you get more recourses, and get more out of those recourses.. so slowly less annoying…
What doesn’t get less annoying though is enemies…
A great immersion breaker is that enemies are harder or easier to kill depending on the section of the map you’re in for no apparent reason…
This isn’t a JRPG.. This is an open world game... I don’t want enemies to scale with me... I want to feel powerful after sinking all of my skill points and crafted materials into stronger weapons…
What does make me feel powerful though is hopping on the back of a majestic mammoth and slinging enemies into the air…
You can ride any large creature you tame once you progress far enough into the story…
There’s such a great balance here of gameplay incentive…
There’s reason to play through the story to unlock new abilities, and there’s reason to ignore the story for a little while to get better weapons, and new skills…
You can’t do it all sticking to one side of the game, and I love that…
And hunting for rare animals and reaching for rare materials is just as fun as attacking a settlement on the back of a caber toothed tiger and taking it for my own…
There are also these cool witcher contract type missions deep in the game where you get to go on a hunt for a legendary animal that’s been terrorizing the land… Looking for clues, setting up traps, and then weakening them down to finally be able to claim them for yourself to call to fight by your side at any time…
A lot of the main missions for the most part have to do with searching for clues and following paths with your hunter vision, which works like eagle vision from assassins creed, or a witcher sense in the witcher the 3…
It highlights animals, plants.. and points of interest…
Its highly annoying that this vision has a timer though…
I don’t know why ubisoft ruined this awesome tool from Assassins Creed… they ruined it in Unity too…
It’s not fun having to constantly click r3 and wait for a cool down every few seconds when I’m trying to follow a path…
    Stop doing this ubisoft..
Thankfully you can call your cool little owl friend to fly around the sky to get a larger view of the path since this function is so unnecessarily annoying…
This is a very ubisoft game… If you don’t like the idea of map cleaning in your games... this isn’t the one for you…
Map cleaning is pretty hit and miss for me, but thankfully I enjoyed it here…
This world is ridiculous... it feels alive… you can ride mammoths…
    what more do you want?
    I give Far Cry Primal
    an 8.0/10

Ubisoft has detoured away from the tried and tested method of automatic weapons and given us something very tasty indeed. Beastmaster skills
    Awesome game world to explore
    Crafting is meaningful

    Cons-
    Horrible looking sky and mountains

For the first time in a long while we are treated to a truly unique game idea. This was the first time a Far Cry had caught my eye enough to pick it up, and certainly proved its worth.

Primal is not just a brilliant game, it dramatically and triumphantly reinvigorates the Far Cry franchise.

Far Cry Primal‘s map is absolutely huge, and is literally teeming with objective markers and missions. I challenge even the most ardently focused of players to travel to their intended location without getting sidetracked on the way.

If only Ubisoft Montreal had felt more confident in its wild gambit – if only it had gone further with the Stone Age concept – and we could have been looking at something special. Instead, we have a Far Cry game that feels fun in its familiarity, but is sadly lacking in many integral ways.
