    Arguably one of the worst games available this year. Everything loved about the Fallout series is gone, with sub-par graphics and a dead experience all around. No NPC's, VATS is ruined and the MMO aspect is hot trash. War should have never changed.

In trying to appeal to a different audience, they have not only alienated the base of the franchise but even failed to produce a quality multiplayer experience.     Someone at Bethesda wrote a no-NPC multiplayer mod for a non-patched version of Fallout 4 and tossed a Fallout 76 title on it. This is a slap in the face of every Fallout fan. I am honestly astounded at how much of a blatant cash grab this is.

    This is one unusual game. As a fan of Fallout and Bethesda games I want to enjoy it, I just don't. While it is a great looking game, especially on the xbox one x, the world is just empty. I force myself to play it for a few hours and run into maybe two people? The quests are boring, go to x location, maybe fight something, and then listen to an audio recording. What makes a fallout gameThis is one unusual game. As a fan of Fallout and Bethesda games I want to enjoy it, I just don't. I understand the idea that "we are the people" but all in all thats kinda dumb. The CAMP system from my understanding is supposed to be an improvement on the fallout 4 town system, it isn't. Outside of doing the quests required for it, I have found zero reason to spend any time doing CAMP stuff. Final word, its a bland, boring pretty mess.… Expand

    It simply shouldn't exist. Bethesda is turning into EA. The only feature of the game that is not buggy is the micro-payment system.

    I got a headache right from inside the vault. Everything looks too close to the player. Outside it was worse. The filters they use and the oversaturated colors make everything look unrealistic. The awful graphics, the close camera, and the hard to read letters gave me a headache after just 20 minutes playing. But that was not all, the game crashed as soon as I found the first Scourched.     I am a Fallout fan boy. DO NOT BUY THIS TITLE. This is a technical demonstration, not a game. It should have never been released. There should have never been a cost to play this technical demonstration. There are serious flaws with this title. It is boring. All the mechanics work against itself.

    I have been a huge fan of Bethesda and the Fallout Series ever since Fallout 3. I was so excited for this released and upon putting in about 40 hours, it's very clear that Bethesda has become either very lazy or just assumes all us gamers are stupid. This game is nowhere near anything close to a finished product and it makes me very sad. It's the only game I have ever pre-ordered and andI have been a huge fan of Bethesda and the Fallout Series ever since Fallout 3.     So disappointed in Bethesda. They had the opportunity to make a great game and gave us a sandbox. I cannot imagine they put as much time and effort into this game as they did the previous games in the series. I was seriously looking forward to this game and having the urge to return a Fallout game kills me.

    I've tried this game for over a week and I can't get into it. Bethy has stripped every that made their games unique for an empty world. After the initial story quest of following the Overseers tapes, they just expect you to wander across the factions and other quests without any hints.

After the disappointment that was Fallout 4, I was hopeful a complete change in style and execution could turn things around for this franchise, but this game is a total disaster; it's barely a game.

    Where do I begin? It feels like an unfinished demo, or an Alpha version of a game that still has years of work left to go into it. The "quests" are monotonous and repetitive fetch quests which just have you going from computer terminal to computer terminal, listening to holotape after holotape and it never gets more interesting than that.

    The horrid, amazingly awful crafting system from 4 has been double downed on here, and makes a gloriously abysmal return to the franchise. I was really hoping to see less crafting in Fallout moving forward, or at least have it be made totally optional, but once again Bethesda is forcing us to experience their "Open World MMORPG" their way, not our way.

    This studio seems to have lost the plot. I really don't think they understand what made their previous games so successful, and what fans are looking for in their gameplay experience. I played this game twice before deciding to return it for a full refund (thankfully I ordered a physical copy).

    Another major flaw with the game is the fact that you cannot avoid trolls. Trolling is to be expected on any online game, but when you're trying to complete a quest, and a higher level player keeps spawn killing you, where is the fun in that? It's impossible to make any progress, and turns the game into a frustrating, exhausting experience.

    They have a "Pacifist Mode" which when activated, makes you totally defenseless to other players. I'm not kidding, literally you can still be attacked, but you are not able to harm any other players with the mode turned on. Someone, anyone, tell me the point of this feature. I really don't get it. It's maybe the most confounding feature of any video game I've ever played. A feature designed to make yourself an easier target, instead of blocking attacks from other players.

    These are just a few examples of how disastrously awful this game is. And it adds insult to injury that in less than two weeks of the game being released, it went on sale for nearly half the price, when I paid full price for this junk, along with many other players. Bethesda is quickly losing my faith and respect, and I'm very cautious and scared about Elder Scrolls 6 at this stage. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. You'll thank me for it.    … Expand

PVP seems to be extremely watered down i encountered one other person who was attacking me in the game decided to match off with him,he ended up killing me and was a very boring experience no fun or threat or loss of items really just some crafting materials your left with all your main stuff. How much you can carry is definitely a HUGE issue in the game i found only after 4 hours of playing having to drop rare and valuable guns and items just to make some room so your not carrying more weight than you can handle. I am really upset that this will be the last fallout game will see likely of this console generation and for the foreseeable future and hope when Fallout 5 comes out its the experience it once was.… Expand

There are plenty of bugs but the microtransaction works very well!!!!! 2018 shamest game... Technically and overall.     One of the worst games I ever played in 3 decades (I think the only one worst than this was the Indiana Jones game for master system console). Its pretty much a scam. Only good thing I got out of it was the helmet from the collectors edition (lets forget about the nylon bag).

I've heard great things from this game before, but I never imagined that it would be good enough to top Ocarina of Time(which isn't overrated) as the most critically acclaimed game on Metacritic with an outstanding 100! So, as always, I downloaded it on my Xbox One for a very low $60, booted it up...and my life was changed.

    First of all, the graphics and performance have to be the best I have and ever will see. The game looks so, so, SO amazingly perfect, that when I started to play games like Red Dead 2, Spider-Man PS4, and even Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, they all made my eyes hurt due to how unbelievably good Fallout 76 looks. Plus, even with it's holy grail graphics, Bethesda somehow made this game run at a locked 60 FPS with 0 glitches. Woah.

    The story is absolutely amazing(I'm not the spoiler type), the gameplay is addicting and nearly flawless, and the open world...OH BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fallout 76's world has by far the best use of space ever conceived in a video game. The sheer amount of stuff to do is insane. And to the people whining about the lack of human NPCs, let me just say: human NPCs were TRASH in the previous games, ESPECIALLY in New Vegas, AKA the worst Fallout game.

    All in all, I'd give this game a 76 out of 10. By far the best use of code since the glorious Cory in the House on DS.

    I have spent countless hours play Fallout 3/NV/4 and I cancelled my pre-order after playing the BETA. It is not just that this is multiplayer I do not like, I play Sea of Thieves at it's a blast, this however is soulless. The main story is almost none existent, the Atom Shop is so over priced it is a joke, bugs are everywhere and features/assets from Fallout 4 are now removed or behind aI have spent countless hours play Fallout 3/NV/4 and I cancelled my pre-order after playing the BETA. It is not just that this is multiplayer I do not like, I play Sea of Thieves at it's a blast, this however is soulless. The main story is almost none existent, the Atom Shop is so over priced it is a joke, bugs are everywhere and features/assets from Fallout 4 are now removed or behind a paywall. Moreover I can deny the lore is there, but you will spend hours upon hours listening to holotapes and reading terminal enters about people that you know are dead as they are no NPC's, and even engaging with that is hard as you have other people shouting and what not breaking immersion.… Expand

Sadly this formula does not translate well when you hobble the game by taking out NPCs and shoehorning in unneeded and ultimately worthless multiplayer. My gameplay style doesn't really translate well to playing in a group so after one session of constantly being separated as I meticulously explored every inch of the landscape I set out on my own.

    This game revealed something I think I'd managed to completely forget since at least vanilla Skyrim. Bethesda games are not very good without mods. Being forced to care about a pointless thirst and hunger meter that never mattered as both things are plentiful as well as becoming constantly over encumbered as I tried to collect much-needed materials became far too tiresome for a game that was proving within 5 hours to have much less to offer F4 did.

    Despite some interesting new enemies the world has very little to offer returning Fallout fans, best to just go back to F4 and tryout some new mods    … Expand

    I gave this game a benefit of a doubt and it failed me as a consumer and fan. I payed 60 dollars for it and within two weeks it now sells for 35 dollars, honestly everyone who payed this 60 dollars should get refunded. It's barley even worth the 35 dollars honestly. The game does succeed at lure, story, pvp, and rpg. Then it fails in every other way, It has real bad lag problems in everyI gave this game a benefit of a doubt and it failed me as a consumer and fan. Then it fails in every other way, It has real bad lag problems in every session of it I cant not have a lag spike it happen most the time in pvp situations and when loading new areas of the map. The bugs are the same that have pledged Bethesda's last few titles some of these bugs even game breaking. Most of these bugs come from their nearly 7 year old engine called the creation engine that desperately needs to be updated becasue it's just barley better then it's forefather Gamebryo that was made in 1997. The dedicated servers for the multiplayer experience are horrendous they can barley keep up with 15 people on a server. Overall the game shouldn't have been released yet it's unfinished for sure. This is one of the worst AAA release this year for sure and it has failed all consumers and fans. Bethesda before you release any other games, please get your act together. Build a new engine before your next games, becasue if you leave such titles as Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 with these problems you will fail and the fans that have loved this franchise success's have and will turn on you.… Expand

    Ive been a Elder scrolls/Fallout player since Elder Scrolls 5 and have always looked forward too and been so overly indulged in these game am actually physically stunned at how spastic and autistic this game truly is, I honestly hope the company gets the huge lawsuit that they are so about to receive very very soon.

    Lastly a hope the community will unite and see how much we were all lied too by Bethesda, using the fallout title and skin and creating a new fallout game does not make a defining game to last the decades, also as a computing programmer myself i understand how difficult it is to create games such as these - its some serious space age faeces people, however this product was rushed for release to compete with the likes of RDR2, which failed worse than the Portuguese polices attempt to find maddy, shocking display Bethesda you should be Fkn ashamed, deserve all the hate that you have received and are still about to receive.    … Expand

    I've been playing Fallout since the very first one and have played every other that followed. Fallout 76 kinda makes me feel like the franchise is dead and it may not be coming back. Bethesda and the powers that be, have basically ruined everything that makes the world of fallout great. This game in my opinion, is simply unacceptable. RIP Fallout.

MP for the sake of MP is absurd. “Misery loves company” is not a valid game experience platform. From the very start, it seems to be a beta posing as a final release. The producers are more or less demanding 100% dollars for 25% game.

    As a manager of software development teams I can assure you that multiple trains went off of numerous rails during the FO76 SDLC. I would surely love to see the integration test construct that was utilized (or wasn’t as the case may be). Does anybody at Bethesda understand UX? Clearly bad decisions were made from one end of the spectrum to the other. Most often, abysmal failures can turn into great opportunities. There is no story, no end game and not a lot to do other than very repetitive "go here & find this" missions but often the glitches in the game meant having to repeat the mission as you didn't get the reward.     Following a server crash in early December I have now been unable to connect to the servers for 2 months & Bethesda support has been useless & often going in little circles. Every update I am sent back to square one with the customer support or told to ask the retailer for a new game code as Bethesda are not responsible for issues with codes purchased through a third party.
    The Game is awful & should be pulled, the customer service is worse. In order to get a refund I am now seeking legal advice as the game is not fit for purpose, is not as originally advertised & does not meet the promises made by Bethesda over graphics quality. The gaming engine is the same as fallout 3 & is very outdated, Bethesda are trying to milk a cow that died years ago.

    My once beloved company Bethesda finally broke down and released this Micro-transaction cash-grab of a "service". The amount of issues regarding the Power Armor Edition, the thousands of bugs, the old and broken Creation Engine, Oh my god.

    Bethesda used Fallout 76 to get their producers to pay for more studios it seems.

    90% of the game is inhabited by these fake ghouls called 'scorched', no enemy variety at all.

    Ridiculous micro-transactions that manage to be even worse than the creation club ($3 for a virtual door for your house, $5 for some stupid hat).

    It's still on the creation engine. Which means all the bugs that existed in Fallout 4 and even as far back as MORROWIND still persist.

    You can speedhack the game just by editing a .ini file.

    There's no data encryption. Hope you're not trying to hide your IP address from some stalker.

    I've not been a fan of the fallout games for very long, my passion for these great games and their interesting setting started in 2013, when I discovered Fallout 3, within moments of playing , I was in love with the series, and played New Vegas and 3 to death, even played 2 for a while. When I heard 4 was coming, I exploded with excitement, I was so happy the day I had Fallout 4 in myI've not been a fan of the fallout games for very long, my passion for these great games and their interesting setting started in 2013, when I discovered Fallout 3, within moments of playing , I was in love with the series, and played New Vegas and 3 to death, even played 2 for a while. When I heard 4 was coming, I exploded with excitement, I was so happy the day I had Fallout 4 in my hands I could have died. Fallout 4 was a good game in my opinion, I was only slightly disappointed about minor changes. It was my least favourite I had played so far, but I still loved it.

    But anyway, this year, when the 76 trailer dropped, I again, was ecstatic, I stayed up until 3 in the morning (Despite the fact I had exams next day) waiting for any news on 76, and I was really disappointed, but optimistic. I got the power armour edition this Monday, I had played some BETA, and the helmet etc was amazing, but, when holding the little steel book which the game was held in, I wasn't excited. Here's the pros and cons.

    (This is what ive gathered from my 8 hours BETA playtime, and my 5 hours full game time)

    Pros:
    Finally, a wasteland I can explore with my friends! (if my friends bought this game and weren't warning me about how crap the game was going to be)

    New lore! New places!

    Meet new fellow Fallout fans! (Or a bunch of 10 year olds with all the spare time in the world to get power armour, new powerful guns etc, and trample over you when you say ''Hello!'')

    (thats about all I can think of for pros)

    Negatives:

    Fallout is a Role playing game, you cannot have this without exchange of dialogue. You cannot communicate with anything in game (Grafton Mayor for example) Though Fallout 4's 'Sarcastic' or 'No' dialogue options were lackluster, lazy and bad? Well, Now you cannot speak to anything in game, unless its another player, and theres a 99% they have no microphone, so you have to communicate with emotes. Weak.

    Alone. You NEED a friend with a microphone to enjoy this game, otherwise its so lonely and deprived of any substance.

    You need so many Caps its unholy. Whats that? You want to fast travel? 16 caps please. Whats that? you want this workshop? 60 caps please. You got killed? bye bye caps! In previous Fallouts, there were caps everywhere, and everything was free. Now I feel like Ebeneezer Scrooge, 'Do I pay 36 caps to teleport there, or do I walk?'

    Brain dead story. With no Npcs to play with, your rely on the odd robot or holotape to tell you where to go, or to get an item. Boring fetch quests. Really Bethesda?

    Welcome to Little Lamplight! Kids galore. Kids with no mics, roaming around in gangs, killing as they please because they have a **** ton of spare time to level up, get op guns armour etc. Anyone under 14, please go back to Fortnite. This game is suffering enough without sweaty children roaming the map.

    Bugs are a huge problem, whether its textures loading painfully slowly (Fallout 3 looks like a work of art in comparison) or the servers lagging, or just some visual bug (A texture not loading for example) Bugfest 76 is full of glitches.

    So much more. Vats, settlements, perk cards etc. I could go on for ages.

    To summarise, what made Fallout great was its setting, and its genre. RPG. This Fallout is a shadow of its former self, if anything, this makes me want to just go play Fallout 4 again, to be reminded of what fallout is. This may be a good, fun MMO game, but its not a good Fallout Game.
    I look forward to Fallout 5, four years away, with a mix of fear, and hope.

    Seriously, just buy Fallout 3, 4 and New vegas and all the DLC's sor a fraction of the price, you will have a much better Fallout experience, wait until this thing is in the bargain bin, then you might consider buying it.

This game is like a post-apocalyptic dust bowl of GTA Online, but at least they even had a campaign lol. For Fallout this honestly doesn’t make any sense. It’s an empty sandbox. Can we at least get our own Dogmeats? Moreover, my heart aches without Curie to walk around with.

    Mind you, it took a lot for me to initially dislike game—I am STILL trying to get into it as we speak—I spent months anticipating this new chapter, but now just want it to close. I want the $80 wasted back into my pocket. I still respect Bethesda for prior releases, but this game is an utter disappointment and more or less highway robbery.

    I'd cut some slack if this wasn't a series that has worked wonders with creating a survival realm. How do you spend years designing beautiful games, developing a worthwhile franchise to release a flop? No dialogue to choose from!!! Come on. Not even random raider d-bags shouting at you.

    What would a DLC even look like at this point? Far Harbor was one of my absolute favorite expansions, but without NPCs, no dialogue, no definitive campaign, no companions, no settlements, nothing that has enveloped Fallout in the past, I don't plan on spending money any further. The entire thing feels unpolished and feels like it needs at least another year of work on it to make it at least somewhat enjoyable.     The bugs and glitches are becoming increasingly frustrating. I am continually getting stuck in or around objects, enemies continually spawn or show up out of nowhere, textures pop in and out, constant frame rate problems and or frequent crashes. Graphics/visual presentation- this game looks okay at certain shots and angels, but most of the time the game is either going to look from bad to okay. Please Bethesda update this **** 19 year old engine. The games lighting even though can make things look pretty most of the time ruins Emerson especially when their are god rays coming through rocks and **** so over all the game's looks are below average so a 4.

    Audio- if Bethesda is going to nail one thing its going to be the sound track, However i cant give them that much credit considering almost all the radio tracks are licensed but the original scores are actually pretty good, with a lot of the tracks being legato slow symphony. Now the sound effects on the other hand, are okay nothing much to say their so over all a 7

    Performance- This game runs like total dog **** on xbox x with a 50 mb speed, the game has tons of bugs and ****ty problems with how teaming up works. running at sometimes 15-25 frames per second. This is disappointment because without these issues this game would probably have a 5 or 4 average. (performance doesnt really matter to me though) im mixed between a 2 and a 1 on this one so a 1.5
    Story- there is none so 0
    multiplayer- in general i dont want people in my games especially a Bethesda one. 3 out of ten

    Bethesda has taken a great series of games and ruined it with this latest release of FallOut. I have played them all since the release of the first FallOut, always trying to finish the game to 100%. Now they add this horrible version known as FallOut 76. It is indeed, the worst in the series I have played. This has ruined the FallOut saga for me.

    My major problem with 76 is the server issues. And by "issues" I mean I can't even log in to the game most of the time. I work for a living and have extremely limited amounts of time to give to anything at all, including movies, TV shows & games. I do not have time to sit and try for a half hour, which has happened often, just to get into any server at all. Regularly I have to back out to the Home screen on my X, start up a different game, cancel out of that, and then I can get into 76. All of this is after the recent 50 GB day one patch & the next 50 GB update which was supposed to fix these issues.

    I simply do not have the time for this nonsense. I sold the game last night and will take that money and put it towards getting an older Back Compat game, or Red Dead 2. I do not tolerate anything wasting my time, and that's exactly what 76 did. And I paid $60 for Bethesda to waste my time, which is infuriating.

    Never again will I give Bethesda leeway for this stuff. And now they've also made me question what games are actually worth dropping $60 again at launch.

Graphics really show their age against other games this year like RDR2. Creation engine is as outdated as Gamesbryo was for New Vegas (They still made it work better than this however). As an MMO it has very limited pvp options and safe guards anyone from losing anything of value. As a survival game it’s hit and miss, they put the need to eat and drink however items are rarely ever scarce and there’s no real repercussion when you die. Big map that can have immersive Fallout times when your exploring the landscape alone or with a friend. Random people ruin immersion and fun with their wacky pink hair and colorful power armour cussing profanity over the mic. This is a medicorce apocalyptic half MMO, half Free Roam Shootem Up survival type game.     Technology-wise, it is Bethesda at its *finest*. Bugs-galore. Performance is right out. I have an Xbox One X and when I say the game chugs along at 15-ish fps in public events I'm being generous. Couple that with the game not reacting under those conditions and you got a recipe for disaster. Forget firing your gun at mobs, or even moving, if it's not the terrain bogging you down it's the melee attacks of the mobs, which under 10-15fps you simply cannot outrun or move away from. Forget about getting a stimpack going and surviving, that's right out.

    If this game ran at 60fps or had better graphics on my Xbox One X I could see it as a technology demo but right now it is far from a demo of anything but mediocrity.

    This is not "Fallout with multiplayer", this is a multiplayer walking simulator with guns, in a Fallout world, nothing more.

    Give this one a pass. They can patch out all the bugs, even improve the performance, but I highly doubt they can ever make this game fun.    … Expand

    You get games like Horizon: ZD, RDR 2, WITCHER 3, MARVEL´s SPIDER MAN and then THIS **** **** which looks like some early PS3/X360 game and moreover even runs so **** bad. It happens most often when fast traveling or leveling up but can really happen at any time. I rarely play more than 20 minutes without the system shutting off and I've never played over an hour at a time.

    Mechanically this game follows the trend of fallout staying behind its times: frequent stutter, glitches, horrible indoor lightning, the worst shooter mechanics out there.
    The franchise used to be redeemed by the storytelling, but now there's almost no story.     What a shame!I was a huge fan from the license and from Bethesda and I am playing video games for 40 years.
    They already ruined Elder Scrolls and now they do the same with Fallout, for sure I will never buy one of their games again.
    Despite the day 1 patch, this game on xbox one x is full of bugs, full of lags like it is constantly freezing, graphics are awfull, totally boring playing    What a shame!I was a huge fan from the license and from Bethesda and I am playing video games for 40 years.

    Bugs galore (what do you expect, its a Bethesda game) FPS is locked, engine is outdated and it shows. The game has an identity crisis, and it struggles to do any one thing right. The PvP is lackluster, and it seems like it is discouraged you have nothing to gain and quite a bit to lose. The building is just as bad as you remember from Fallout 4. The game feels empty and soulless, TheBugs galore (what do you expect, its a Bethesda game) FPS is locked, engine is outdated and it shows. The perk card system is a poor replacement on the previous perk system. The gun modification system has been greatly dumbed-down and is more irrelevant. The CAMP feature is not fun, uncreative, and rage inducing. TheWhether you're playing this with friends or alone it defiently is a miss.     Engine from 2002. Reused assets from fallout 4 (2015).

    Youd think with reall old tech + 3 years development the game would at least be refined.

    But its not. It is a Broken, unstable, empty cash grab.

    Just look at all the B.S merch they are selling with this, at best, early access game.

    Fallout 4 was bad enough. This? This is heresy.

    I paid $60 for this game on console and put it down forever after a few hours because I can't stand how there is visible lag when you run around, look around, or get into combat. It also appears to be stuck in 30 fps mode.

    What's the point of buying a game on a console if it isn't optimized to run perfectly for that console?

    I dont usually write bad reviews, however I had to make an exception for this trash heap. Fallout 76 might just be the worst AAA game of 2018. Buggy, dated, and boring with next to no enjoyment to be found. It is sad when a fan mod does better then a AAA release, will not be preordering from Bethesda again.

    If you enjoyed anything about the fallout series previously then you will most likely find nothing to enjoy here. Makes farm simulator 19 feel action packed. Don't really know how to review the story as one doesn't really exist.

    Too many bugs, extremely painful to play in multiplayer because i used to play all versions alone. Now things have changed for bad, it is not a RPG anymore its a multiplayer shooter. So whats is the point to play fallout 76, better find another shooter game with no bugs.

    But it’s hard to feel as if you’re truly affecting the world when there are no NPCs to express satisfaction or disdain, or to be directly influenced by your actions. Even killing feels hollow. Some of my best battles in Fallout 4 came when I stumbled across an outpost and found there a raider in there; he’d yell and scream at me as we were facing off. The Scorched, while armed, feel like nothing more than zombies.

    The addition of multiplayer feels as though it comes at the expense of Fallout’s memorable story-driven moments. What good is a vast map full of players if they're given little to no purpose? When no other players are around, the game’s world feels almost empty. The attention-grabbing locales and landmarks add to Appalachia's charm, but it's difficult to not wish for living, breathing characters to inhabit it. Post-apocalyptic West Virginia is described as a wasteland, and this term paints an inadvertent but accurate picture of what Fallout 76 is right now.

    If you enjoy multiplayer games of this type and are willing to overlook the engine anomalies, you may find yourself rapidly addicted to the game's exploration density and loot systems. If you're easily frustrated by bugs and issues, you may want to sit tight a bit to see what Bethesda does to polish things up, cus oh boy, it could use a bit right now. If you're a fan of the single player, branching narrative the series is known for, you'll want to wait for Fallout 5.
