Absolutely terrible Bethesda need to either invest in a new game engine or move over to Unreal Engine because the one they use is garbage

Rolled 100 3 star legendarys to not get a single legendary worth using. i get that might just be bad luck but oh well. The game is fun with other people and the questing is okay when it doesnt involve robots, if youre going to play solo however just play one of the other fallout games. The game has many bugs and issues and should be labeled as early access title. But exploring the huge world, collecting loot and finding new weapons and lore items is still very fun. If they fix the issues it could be a great game. The cosmetic microtransactions are very expensive (12-18 € for a skin).

It kinda feels like a lite/worse version of Fallout 4. The new missions with npcs made the game better, but the stories are still not really interesting and way to short. A change a while ago completly ruined the game for me tho. Enemies now scale with your level so there is not really any player progression. A low level will deal as much damage to an enemy as somebody with a higher level since the enemies scale to each player. When you get stronger over time the enemies in the same area get stronger aswell so there is not point for me to upgrade my character. The System before was way better, where enemies would have a certain fixed level in a specific area. I also prefered the perk system in Fallout 4 where you could unlock every single perk. It is a grind to unlock every perk, but this was another reason that kept me playing. Why couldnt they just make a Fallout with coop combatibility instead of an online Fallout. Im just gonna stick to the other Fallout entries for now. Expand

Maps terrible and doesn't feel like a fallout map, pretty bland and the map looks misleading if im honest. Boring story and i can't really think of any memorable characters unlike previous fallout titles, the game might be fun with friends though?

Another **** cash grab by Bethesda. The only reason to play this game over fallout 4 is because of the multiplayer. I would pick fallout 4 any day over this as it doesn't suck me into quests. Fallout 4 also has good factions rather than you being solo other than the online.

Bethesda has been abusing their fans for so long this is just their current offense. Pay to win. Pay to play. Just pay to pay at this point. If u love Fallout, avoid this. There's nothing here of value for anyone with any sense of rationale

This is a game completely removed of what made Fallout such a great experience to begin with. I can't find much to like about it, everything about it back then and now is still pertinent. Simply put, Fallout 76 stinks - and has left a mark on Bethesda's reputation for how they handled everything surrounding the game afterwards.

Simply put, Fallout 76 stinks - and has left a mark on Bethesda's reputation for how they handled everything surrounding the game afterwards.
After seeing how much of a train wreck this game was on release and beyond, I made a huge promise to never buy this game if I valued myself as a fan of the Fallout games. A few years later and I would find this game in a bargain bin for the low price of £2, so I decided to get it and see the complaints. Below are some articulated points I have for this game:
Although I do see the appeal for online games, I rarely play them. This is mostly because I hate paying for subscriptions to use a service I'm already paying for. So this problem may be commonplace in online games and I'm just not aware of it, but the AI in this game is horrendous. The main enemies in this game are these weird ghoul creatures that technically aren't ghouls, and they have some unconventional movement patterns and behaviors that I'm not used to seeing as a predominantly single-player sort of person. Might just be a nitpick, but I personally found it annoying to see enemies constantly sidestep and jerk around irregularly.
They initially released the game with no NPCs, the entirety of the game's story was told with audio logs. After some vocal complaints, Bethesda quietly began adding NPCs for the player to interact with - and yet I still don't know what they were going for in terms of story. If it's a prequel all the games preceding it, then why are there Super Mutants in the wasteland? The NCR didn't form until after the original Fallout, yet you can still obtain their gear somehow. And the overall game has this bizarre late 60s vibe as opposed to the previous games' post-World War II Americana. Basic plot points in that have been illustrated since the beginning have been disregarded for what I would love to describe as poorly-written fan fiction at this rate.
I would think to myself how Fallout could have worked as an online experience, but this is not how to do it. What upsets me the most is that the previous Fallout games by Bethesda had something going for them, there was something about Fallout 3 and 4 that thematically felt like Fallout - but were otherwise completely different tonally. I find it difficult to give this game a recommendation: Play any other Fallout game other than this.

Almost all the quests are fetch quests unfortunately. I played at launch and during the wastelanders update. They added more things to do and npcs but it still didnt seem like much of a fallout game. But this game is nothing but a horrible money grab wanting subscriptions and people to buy skins. I just watched Tod Howard interview saying they know its bad and they want to make it better. Bu this is NOT what the fans want. I'm so scared that there will never be a good fallout ever again because they will be based on micro transition and you spending more money on stupid stuff instead of giving a high quality game like fallout NV and fallout 4. It makes me angry and sad what the company is becoming. I just want to play a single player RPG that is fallout and not asking me to pay more money to enjoy it better. I'm ok with paying for FINISHED DLCs for single player games. Hell I liked the concept of creation club because I thought we would see some DLC size mods but that was a lie to. I want fallout back. I want single player games back. I want to not walk back to a area I was just at and have creatures spawn back because someone I don't care about is in the same area and needs to fight the. I feel like they truly do not care about the reviews or thoughts of their fans and truly says in meeting **** them" because that's how it feels. It feels like we are getting ****ed and just like elder scrolls they will basically forces you to use the game because they wont create a new game that is not trying to take your money and is truly a single player game. This is the longest Beta release in Bethesda history...wait, not that is Skyrim but that is another story. Between the game breaking bugs, the griefers, and the out of control monetization for things that should simply be included indicate that their only goal for this "game" is to milk as much money out of people without actually providing what they sold. I've played a few hours and i'm yet to encounter another player. Therefore, I'm successfully playing the game solo. That does not mean i avoid the disadvantages of a multiplayer game. Server crashes, lag, and annoying delays in interacting with anything, add to the game's frustration.

I really don't know why this got released. Its not a fallout game and its not good enough at being something different to warrant the risky new direction. Who is this for? Don't get me wrong i'm enjoying exploring more of the fallout universe, but as game, its really, really bad. I don't typically write a review before completing a game, but i'm not sure i can finish it. There is literally nothing, beyond a new world, that is keeping me playing. Its actually so bad, it makes me want to go outside; like, in the real world (*gasp*).

The endgame is not very satisfying, as there is only one hard enemy that usually bugs out and disappears before you actually manage to gather anything. Otherwise you find yourself grinding for no reason. The DLC is free but bad, compared to the paid DLC for Fallout 4 which actually added fun things into the game such as Nuka World and Far Harbor. I never saw what was coming, I never thought they would stoop so low. They sold out one of the most beloved game franchises in history!!! After all that BS about #SavePlayerOne they take a game that has always been a single player RPG and turn it into a micro-transaction filled, monetized to hell, MMO. Then they do not even do that right.

Call me biased, call me a hater. I do not care this game is garbage. No NPCs, horrible game play and full of bugs and glitches. Bethesda and ZeniMax sold out and wanted to jump on the Fortnite, Battle Royal, MMO money train...but they had no idea what the hell they were doing. If they would have just stuck to what they where good at maybe things could have been different but they got greedy. Now The Outer World's is making Todd Howard, Pete Hines and the rest of the gang there in Maryland look like a bunch of douche bags.

Even that they some how f*cked. I really don't have hope they will introduce NPC's because they already are delaying it more and f*cking more.

The whole MMO idea was great, but by removing EVERY human NPC (unless it's a dead body) was a really really bad idea, as reflected in the quest line, which is absolutely terrible.

The level of initial bugs was embarrassing, and this reflected in the game play. It was incredibly hard to play at times, with bugs like invisible enemies, environments not rendering, and quest lines not triggering correctly to name a few.

The map is fantastic, like awesome. It's huge, you'll never run out of places to find, it's really nicely designed, and just a very interesting place to explore. With a huge variety of environments and terrains, it's a really nicely done aspect of the game. It's just a huge shame the rest of the game lets the experience down.

I personally found that leveling up takes an absolute age... especially with boring repetitive quests, that don't really feel like they have any depth or interest at all. (Such as, find these objects, bring them here, or escort this robot to this location sort of quest) Like i've sunk 3 days of solid gameplay into it now somehow, and i'm not even level 50 yet. The special / perk system is also absolutely terrible. Fallout 3 had it perfect, Fallout NV improved on it, Fallout 76 took everything good about it and emptied it into a bin. It's a clunky confusing mess that really hinders your characters progression.

Item condition is back, which means your guns are now essentially made of paper apparently, with them breaking constantly. On the flip side, quite cool how condition has been applied to cooked food items / organic foods, as they can go off and spoil if not eaten in time.

The soundtrack (as in the atmospheric exploring music) is also great. Visuals are great, from landscapes to guns.

Overall, this game could've been absolutely amazing. It's just a shame it was botched so badly, meaning we got a really unsatisfying entry to what is a fantastic franchise. Can be fun if played with a few friends, but it gets tiring pretty quickly.

Let me say that the first problem is the location. West Virginia simply is not the best place for a fallout game. They really made a mistake by pretty much making all of the WV map available, now future above ground maps can't be added.

Most importantly the glitches and bugs. It could never be more clear that the devs were not capable of making the game. They fix one glitch only for a dozen more to show up. The game has been out for how long and still it's difficult to play because of these bugs?

Survival mode? Why? What is the point? Survival mode would mean something if once you entered a character in that mode and that was the only mode you could play. No, you can swap between normal and survival mode taking the teeth out of pvp. I remember back in the days of WoW you leveled on a pvp server and you lived under the constant threat of being ganked. Here, you go in, ???? log out and accomplish no meaningful pvp content.

If Devs really want to fix survival mode they need to make it stick to the character.

The Graphics are ok, some of the dynamic weather is beautiful especially the rain.

I truly enjoy the survival aspect especially the requirement for food water and weapon maintenance make it a more dynamic experience.

I'll end this review wit ha suggestion to improve Survival mode:

    1) Make it stick to a character, if you are in survival mode you stay in (Unless you use atoms to xfer, think of how much you could make)

    2) drop the top 3.

    3) Add twice as many players to the server

In fact, most players want to team up or trade. I've even been revived by other players who just happened to be in the area. The map is gigantic and was exciting to explore at first, but the game quickly becomes a boring, repetitive slog with minimal challenge. I give Bethesda credit for trying this experiment, but Fallout76 fails as a RPG and as a FPS. They might have been hoping that players would team up and battle other teams- and perhaps that happens, but I haven't experienced that. Scrounging is an essential component for Fallout- and there's plenty of it, but it really sucks when you're exploring a new area and you realize that another player had been there recently and already took everything and killed everything. There are a number of public events that you can join, but after I did an event once, I found little motivation to do it again. There are also Daily, Weekly, and Character Challenges that reward Atom Points which can be spent in the Atomic Shop. While it's easy to rack up Atom points, everything in the store is purely cosmetic. You can also purchase Atom points, but who would spend more money on Atom points when there's nothing but costumes, Photomode Poses, profile icons, emoticons, and a variety of superficial junk you can use in your CAMP? It's logical to deduce that Bethesda intended to offer player "advantages" in this shop (i.e. weapons, armor, Perks) but I guess it would've been too obvious that Fallout76 was never really meant to be a challenging, fun multiplayer experience; sadly in the end, it was just a cash grab. Following a server crash in early December I have now been unable to connect to the servers for 2 months & Bethesda support has been useless & often going in little circles. Every update I am sent back to square one with the customer support or told to ask the retailer for a new game code as Bethesda are not responsible for issues with codes purchased through a third party.
The Game is awful & should be pulled, the customer service is worse. In order to get a refund I am now seeking legal advice as the game is not fit for purpose, is not as originally advertised & does not meet the promises made by Bethesda over graphics quality. The gaming engine is the same as fallout 3 & is very outdated, Bethesda are trying to milk a cow that died years ago.
Avoid the game unless you like wasting money.

Graphically I think it looks good in 4k. Obviously some of the texture detail up close looks like crap but overall its an upgrade imo. Multiple "stability" patches later and the game can barely handle a party of 4. Mostly a mix of new players and day one vets (most of whom grief the newbies out of boredom. GG Bethesda). PvP is set up in a way that actually encourages griefing and regularly happens between a lvl 100+ and a lvl 20 (and damaged is NOT normalized). Its mind blowing how naive Bethesda is about how people play online games.

Fallout 76 is Bethesda's equivalent to that. First off, anyone giving this game more than a 5 is **** braindead. Some backstory, though before we dive in.. I've been a Bethesda fan boy since Morrowind. MORROWIND. I always had the greatest respects for Bethesda for creating massive worlds with easily 100's of hours of stuff to do and accomplish. Fallout 3 will forever remain my favorite Bethesda title for bringing a post-apocalyptic setting to life so well. However, Fallout 76 is where Bethesda ends for me. It feels like I got slapped across the face by Todd Howard's flaccid dick based on how big of a disappointment this game is.

    PROS:
There are a few new weapon/enemy variations that spices the game up from the typical Fallout formula. That's it for pros.

    CONS:
This game feels like a horribly ported mod for Fallout 4. It LITERALLY feels like an online mod for Fallout 4. There is absolutely nothing new besides the above listed. I can't describe how disappointing this experience was. I grinded nonstop hoping at some point that the game would get better. Hell, I hit LEVEL 110 AND IT WAS STILL GARBAGE.

The online doesn't work art all. Seeing Zenimax (the guys who did ESO: Online) it's shocking that they could make a much bigger game like ESO work but not Fallout. Granted, there are at least 10 studios that worked on this game which may be the main reason why it ended up as such a disaster. The graphics are exactly the same as Fallout 4. God rays come out of the f'ing ground (good job Todd). It still has the same old signature Bethesda textures where everything looks like ass up close. It also has BUGS FROM FALLOUT 4. Modders in Fallout 4 LITERALLY MADE A PATCH TO STOP BUGS IN FALLOUT 4. YET THOSE SAME BUGS GOT PORTED TO FALLOUT 76 UNPATCHED. At this point, I feel the modding community should own the rights to Fallout being that they do a better job than Bethesda's devs.

Now let's talk story. There is none. Okay, there is. But it sucks. You just go around the map, pick up holotapes. Done. That's it. There are ZERO human NPC's. This is Fallout 76's biggest downfall because NPC's are what bring the world to life. But because of Todd's terrible misdirection to make YOU, the player the NPC (no one acts like that).. we end up with this shallow, empty, soulless, obvious cash grab by Bethesda.

I loved Bethesda ever since I discovered Morrowind. I considered Fallout 4 a low point in their work because the story fell short for me but mod support reassured me that it was a good game because mods fixed a lot of what was broken in Fallout 4. However, Fallout 76, I hope remains on a **** list forever as an example as to what not to do when you decide to become a game dev. I don't know what to say, Bethesda. You **** it up.

I wouldn't even recommend this game if it was $20. The price has already dropped to $35-$40 and I feel cheated because I paid a full AAA $60. Thanks, dark souls.

Why would i want to pay full price for a game that has decade old graphics and the same boring gameplay? Fallout4 barely held my interest due to the terrible graphics, this game several years later looking like a DLC for fallout4, no. This is garbage, my score is zero, i would give negative if i could for how broken and unfinished it is

Well i have been renting games for 3 days before buying them lately. Tired of paying upwards of 70 bucks for a dog. Thank GOODNESS I rented this game first cause WOOOOOOOOF!

This is NOT Fallout as we know it. This game is BOOOORING and tedious. The lack of NPC's leaves the game feeling hollow and you feel shortchanged as a player. I am a huge Bethesda fan but whoever decided to take the franchise in this direction should be fired. It is really that bad. This is not a game worth buying.

    Wow...just, wow.

What a phenomenal game. Bethesda has seriously outdone themselves this time. I've heard great things from this game before, but I never imagined that it would be good enough to top Ocarina of Time(which isn't overrated) as the most critically acclaimed game on Metacritic with an outstanding 100! So, as always, I downloaded it on my Xbox One for a very low $60, booted

So, as always, I downloaded it on my Xbox One for a very low $60, booted it up...and my life was changed.

First of all, the graphics and performance have to be the best I have and ever will see. The game looks so, so, SO amazingly perfect, that when I started to play games like Red Dead 2, Spider-Man PS4, and even Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, they all made my eyes hurt due to how unbelievably good Fallout 76 looks. Plus, even with it's holy grail graphics, Bethesda somehow made this game run at a locked 60 FPS with 0 glitches. Woah.

The story is absolutely amazing(I'm not the spoiler type), the gameplay is addicting and nearly flawless, and the open world...OH BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fallout 76's world has by far the best use of space ever conceived in a video game. The sheer amount of stuff to do is insane. And to the people whining about the lack of human NPCs, let me just say: human NPCs were TRASH in the previous games, ESPECIALLY in New Vegas, AKA the worst Fallout game.

All in all, I'd give this game a 76 out of 10. By far the best use of code since the glorious Cory in the House on DS.

But seriously though this game is trash

It would be much better to have it be a solo game with an option for online multiplayer and online co-op with 1-3 friends. Either that or have a pure solo version and online co-op version as secondary options while keeping online multiplayer as the default, but just add in solo and co-op options. The public workshops are ridiculous as claiming and building them is not worth the hard earned caps. I went from playing it 9 hours a day 5 days a week to 1 hour a week.Forget Fallout 76 and just keep your hype for Elder Scrolls 6, hopefully that game will be 50x better than this. Expand

Bethesda banned people for using graphic improvement mods and ask them to write essays about why it's so bad. A company. From which you PURCHASED a product. Ban you from using a product you paid for. A product you DID NOT misused. And ask you to write a **** schoolyard essay about why you are a bad person in their eyes.

Well that's a big no from me, guys.

Xbox live membership required and not ON case.

I love their games in the past but this one has really ticked me off. I had to spend 40 mins getting in contact with xbox support to find this game will only run with xbox live.

    It's not clearly readable.

    I am returning the game!

But it’s hard to feel as if you’re truly affecting the world when there are no NPCs to express satisfaction or disdain, or to be directly influenced by your actions. Even killing feels hollow. Some of my best battles in Fallout 4 came when I stumbled across an outpost and found there a raider in there; he’d yell and scream at me as we were facing off. The Scorched, while armed, feel like nothing more than zombies.

The addition of multiplayer feels as though it comes at the expense of Fallout’s memorable story-driven moments. What good is a vast map full of players if they're given little to no purpose? When no other players are around, the game’s world feels almost empty. The attention-grabbing locales and landmarks add to Appalachia's charm, but it's difficult to not wish for living, breathing characters to inhabit it. Post-apocalyptic West Virginia is described as a wasteland, and this term paints an inadvertent but accurate picture of what Fallout 76 is right now.

If you enjoy multiplayer games of this type and are willing to overlook the engine anomalies, you may find yourself rapidly addicted to the game's exploration density and loot systems. If you're easily frustrated by bugs and issues, you may want to sit tight a bit to see what Bethesda does to polish things up, cus oh boy, it could use a bit right now. If you're a fan of the single player, branching narrative the series is known for, you'll want to wait for Fallout 5.
