An absolute triumph. I've come across some very slight graphical glitches here and there but nothing that gets in the way of what a great game this is.

Of course, it's not reinventing the wheel. If you've played Fallout 3 then you'll be instantly at home with this, but everything feels more polished in it's execution. Bravo Bethesda, once again. Oh and ignore the 0's being given to

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We loved the game... It is for adults because of language... The occasional F bomb is something that parents and guardians should be aware of... This game is more like Mass Effect 2 to Mass Effect... It has the first person shooters in mind more than the earlier games... That being said, it's only there if you want to go after... I liked the new system... But you need to know a lot about the game to go on a good first run play through or like I do, I have three characters and play them different... In this there is fun for me... For those that think there is no story... If you have kids... It's can be a real challenge... Anyway, I had a great time... Expand

Outside of VATS the gun play has been significantly refined making gun fights much more stimulating and tactical. The classic sense if exploration is still there but the overall story, scenery, and journey you take this time seems more epic. Diversity has been added making it so exploring the metro tunnels is not so repetitive, same with vault exploration. The player character now talks and the lines are well acted giving a deeper sense of interaction with the npc's. The color palette is much brighter but the graphics, while the best in the series, are not as refined as I had thought they would be on the current generation hardware. All in all Fallout 4 is a masterpiece that is a must play for RPG fans everywhere. Expand

some people complain about lack of choice in factions but I assume they have not played the game... Like at all. You'd have to be an idiot or have not played the game to see all the different factions and your opportunity to join and work with each or none etc.

if you like fallout 3 you'll love this, despite what people say bethesda have improved and added new features, updated gunplay/graphics. story is better, but comparing it to witcher 3 is unfair as that game was linear but set in an open world.
sure its not perfect, but sayings its a broken mess or rubbish game is wrong.

Forget about quests and a hardcore mode, the best part is simply exploring, and it is tough enough as is. Looking for that next cache of ammo or stimpack that'll keep you alive for the next trek to an abandoned factory is absolutely enthralling. Searching for a spare lamp or circuit board left behind during the apocalypse just so you can add an attachment to your rifle? Engrossing. At anytime you might happen upon something that will end you- so save often. I really haven't seen any bugs yet 15 hours in (though I keep hearing about them?), but there is bound to be a couple. I missed the skill percentages for all about 5 minutes until my first couple level-ups and then realized how infinite the possibilities are for customization. Some things to add/change? A few perks should be tweaked to more usability (why get radiation resistance when ghoulish will make radiation heal you?) and the constantly running out of inventory room should be looked at. I believe fallout 3 or skyrim had some similar problems until they knocked the weight of some common items down. Nuka Colas? Shouldn't be 1 pound each. Etc. Otherwise, get this game before the hype is gone and experience it with the rest of us! Expand

I don't understand the hate on the graphics, I think they look great for an open world shooter. The frame rate is mostly stable, and there is pretty good draw distance. The day/night cycle looks great and random weather like rain and radiation storms add to the variety. The music is great and adds to the atmosphere.

The gameplay is much smoother than previous Fallouts and VATS is implemented better than before. You get to create your own character and upgrade him/her the way you want. The modding for the guns and armor is awesome and will have you combing the environment for materials . I've also spent a fair amount of time building my own house from the ground up and customizing my own settlement, which is a bit tricky to figure out but very rewarding.

If you are looking for a great open world game, a great RPG, or even a just a great shooter, Fallout 4 is your game. It is a mashup of all video game genres and it is fantastic. I don't know where all the hate is coming from, but if you just play it for yourself I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Everything about Fallout 4 seems carefully and quite elegantly done, the map is gorgeous, the characters are well crafted and the enemies are plentiful. I only ever give such a remarkable score to games I believe are the best there is, and Fallout 4 is just that. It leaves the prior trilogy in its wake as it leads the world in how RPG's should be made.
Even for those unaware of the fallout series, I would strongly reccomend buying. Actually, for any gaming enthusiast, this is a must. 10/10

I am loving the game so far and am confused at the low scores honestly. A lot of reviews seem to be saying it's the same as Fallout 3, but I find enough differences to keep my interest and find the changes fun which is the main thing.

The graphics are improved over Skyrim, and may not be quite on par with some other current gen games, but I really do not care it works and is a massive RPG game(graphics beat Dragon Age Inquisition by far at least). The combat is fun as well, though I am annoyed at how hard it is to aim down the sites and will dock a half point for this annoyance that I have ran into so far. I am also pretty disappointed about the removal of the item degradation, and knock the other point off for that bringing my rating to a 8.5/10. Overall the positive changes outweigh the two negatives I listed, so I will round up to a solid 9/10 and will continue to enjoy this great addition to the Fallout serious!

In terms of pure gameplay, this is by far the best fallout in the series. I know New Vegas gets a lot of the attention, and justifiably. It's a great RPG. But Fallout 4 is a better *game*. I mean it's post apocalyptic the sims, people try to say as a criticism. What about that doesn't sound fun!?! I have probably a thousand hours of just building stuff in this game.

I've been playing fallout since the first one launched, 4 is my favorite in the series. Sure, the dialog got a bit gimped. Sure, the writing is kinda weak at times. But it's got the best npcs (Nick and Hancock being standout characters, and Nick being the first companion in fallout history to get his own dlc) and when it's good it's incredible.

Don't listen to the people telling you "if this is your first fallout, play 1. 1 aged terribly, and fallout fans are famous for absolutely hating the most recent game. It happened to 2, it was too casual and silly. It happened to 3, it was 3d. It happened to new vegas, it was a broken mess at launch. It happened to 4, "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle. Not a real ar pee gee!" It's happening right now to 76 because 76 actually is a dog turd wrapped in 50s americana. And like the criticism of 2, 3, and new vegas, the backlash about 4 was totally overblown.

    The good...

1.Excellent post apocalyptic setting. The whole futuristic 50's vibe is refreshing in the RPG genre.
    2. Radio adds so much to the atmosphere there's classic/oldies/quest stations . It just need more songs.
    3. Flexible playstyle. Sniper 1 shot kills. Melee build. Stealth are all viable. Go high tech or medieval.
    4. True open world sandbox. There's a main story, but you do what you want, when you want.
    5. 6 different levels from very easy to survival.
    6. No level caps. So you can keep leveling even after story. 278 levels for all perks and stat boost
    7. Combo Skyrim/old school Elder Scrolls stats/ plus xp system. For varied development.
    8. Building system. It's totally optional, but you have at least 10 bases to build the way you like.
    9. The monetary system. Bottle caps are money.Everything breaks down for crafting. So even junk is good.
    10. The game feels post apocalyptic. Sparse animals. Ammo is kind of scarce. So resources seem valuable
    11. Mods for Guns, Rifles, melee weapons. Mods for all armor types. Again optional but vast.
    12. I've played 72 hours and I'm only level 34/278 (that mean something). Lots to do and replay value. Even if you finish main story arch or level cap you can continue to play.
    13. Some NPC's have similar quest type that is repeatable. So you always have quests.
    14. Bethsaida games always have DLC that add meaningful content if wanted.

    The bad...

    1. Bethsaida bugs. Some crashes. Like all of their games save often.
    2. Last gen graphics. Though they are stylized so you won't really notice.

This is an 8/10 for the genre. But 10/10 compared to what new gen consoles have released so far. Easily the best RPG game I own for XB1. And I own all of the RPG for this console.

In terms of the game, some choices were made that made it better, some choices may not be too great, but as a game? It's incredible for what sixty dollars can buy you. People are satisfied spending sixty bucks EVERY year for Call of Duty or sports games which is the SAME. EXACT. THING. EVERY. TIME. but when it comes to this, "Oh it's the same game, nothing too new" like really? Does that make any sense? Did Halo 5 falling short upset people that now they have to knock down a titan to make it seem balanced? Users shouldn't be allowed to review a game. How is this game a 0? 0 is non-functional. I'm pretty damn sure this game is functional.

In short: The game is certainly worth the money and your time. It's going to have things that will upset some or make other extremely happy but in general? It's still the fallout you know and love and for people who believe that this game is a 5.4? or a 4.3? Go **** yourself.

The plot is surprisingly deep. There is a definite sense of loneliness in the wasteland. And it really doesn't look like Fallout 3. This is more of suburbia turned wasteland. Fallout 3 was just pure open-space wasteland, like 'The Road'. You explore empty houses and gas stations.

One negative I have with the game is that there doesn't seem to be a way to be evil. In other words, you have to be a good guy or gal. I usually don't play that way anyways, but I've always liked how in Fallout games you can decide what kind of person you want to be.

Top notch crafting, the best I have seen in a RPG game to date.
I constantly saw myself looking for the plentiful collectibles in this game, simply to see every little detail.
There is also a lot more then simply combat, the settlement idea is a grand idea, and I hope to see it in the elder scrolls 6 instead of the on-rail hearth fire house building.
The quests are dynamic and interesting.

    Here are my only problems
Speech is a bit pointless,as no matter the choice you make in the speech, other then intimidating/bribing/persuading.
And the perk/skills system, which isn't a massive deal,I just wish they went more with skyrim or the past games instead.

Overall it is a outstanding game, and I believe the problems aforementioned will be fixed with mods.

    Best. Game. Ever.

No joke. Fallout 4 is the best game ever made. Sure, it might have a few glitches, but that is only to be expected from a gigantic open world game like this. The gunplay is perfect, the graphics are good, the story is great, the mechanics are great, the game is just great in EVERY way.

This game is great!!!. So much depth. There is a classical music radio station that plays EXCELLENT music while you wander around. There is also John Cleese as Cogsworth! So far all the reviews seem a bit picky. This is better than Witcher 3, less glitchey and buggy, although centering on and selecting items is a bit wonky.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is definitely going to be game of the year with a large open world, a large variety of perks, weapons, armor, and so much more.

A Dead Land: The game excels when it comes to its open world. Lots of enemies, new ways explore the world, and it's been reported that Fallout 4's map size is 11 minutes long vertically. And trust me it's large. The game looks gorgeous with a new creation engine. Some people say it isn't graphically up to date but you have to admit, it is a giant leap from Fallout New Vegas (2010). Plus with lots of new radio stations and lots of side quests in which other companions could possibly react towards the actions of these side missions and some may interest you. You can also create your own settlement that you have to keep resourced, defended, and a simple place to let settlers rest and go on with their business.

200-Life Crysis: The game takes place a few minutes or hours "depending how long you create your character" before the bombs have dropped. So you soon enter Vault 111 where a freak experiment goes horribly wrong. Since your 200 year cryogenic stasis, takes you deep into the future in where you have to find your son Shaun who has been kidnapped by the institute a isis like group who kidnaps survivors of the commonwealth. So it is your job to take him back.

Guns n' more bullets: Shooting is more playable. V.A.T.S. is still a thing in this Fallout installment but shooting a gun feels more shooty than your average Fallout game. Your guns no longer break so you can shoot with letting it break but it looses a more survival focused aspect but I didn't like survival focused aspects anyway. You can also customize your amazing little guy into a F***ing beast, with re-naming it, adding new weapon mods that are available to all weapons. Legendary enemies drop legendary loot and it is either amazing or surprising. You can also choose when you want to get a critical strike on an enemy or not. It you get enough hits on enemies, you will build up a bar that will fill up and create an execution command and vats no longer pause the game it will slow it down the game leaving vulnerable to an easy but cheap death, so act fast.

The Uglies returned: Enemies look more disgusting and more terrifying than ever before. With new ones such as bloodbugs and synths. Oh and if you hate deathclaws they're back and deadlier than ever. Enemies with a star next to them represent Legendary enemies. Enemies featured with a skull next to them, f***ing run. You can guess who is the first is to encounter.

Packin' a punch: The amount of base perks built in to the game are over 70 but go a little deeper and you will find over 200 perks. How, they are counted a mini perks to a perk. Let that sync in to your head before moving on. Bobbleheads make a return but a little more impactful than Fallout 3. A little hint the perception bobblehead is the first to be found usually.

The game runs at 1080p, 30fps or so I've heard. Smooth for the most part but sometimes dips but no where below 20fps. Lowest: 24fps that I have seen. Also mods are on Xbox One now. WOOHOO!

For reviews on Need For Speed (10) and Need For Speed Rivals (9), check my other reviews. See ya.

I think most of the people are upset because the game is too complex for them. Todd Howard was right when he said "We are probably doing too much with this game."
The leveling system makes perfect sense, I actually enjoy it more then the previous system. You really have to think about where to put your points and it takes a long time to level up as well.
    The atmosphere is unlike anything

The atmosphere is unlike anything else, great graphics, awesome missions, so much fun to explore.
If everyone wants to make comparisons I'll leave some as well.

Fallout 4 is much more atmospheric then the Witcher 3. Yes the Witcher did contain more dialogue but literally the rewards were terribly weak. I played the witcher, discovered every location...none as interesting as anything in Fallout 4.
Every building design and mission structure set up in Fallout is multi tiered in a much better way then the witcher. The rewards feel great also, the combat in witcher sucked, all you had was a couple decent spells and the same 2 swords to swing over and over again.
Fallouts combat takes thought and skill, you always risk running out of ammo and action points, there are a variety of several ways to attack and sneak through buildings. You can hack turrets, control robots, rig up booby traps, go stealth, beat someone to death with a rolling pin, you have lazer pistols that set people on fire, even baseball grenandes.....you can even sneak up on someone and put a live grenade in their back pocket.
Talk about stale NPC's did anybody else get tired if seeing the same cut and paste villagers and salesmen at every town in the Witcher. Seriously the bowl cut NPC was everywhere as was the herbalist.

Same **** with Metal Gear, great game but repetitive and boring.

No idea how fallout has so much hate, people really need to play the game, it is absolutely phenomenal.

The dialogue is great and so is the voice acting its not just plain boring robotic acting, the combat is exactly what you expect from a Bethesda game which is nothing to flash but its enjoyable as anything.

The Perk tree is really quite amazing just looking at it you know leveling up is going to be real satisfying working towards getting your characters build the way you want it.

Oh and it has its own radio stations of classical music, which I love games that do that similar to bioshock with its classical songs. Really adds to the atmosphere of the game.

This is just from me playing it for 3 hours so to all those 0's out there, get a life and go back to your Black Ops 3.

Fallout 4 is the latest RPG game by Bethesda Softworks and it has everything to succeed.

When compared to its predecessors (FO3 and NV), Fallout 4 proves to make everything better:
    - Shooting is so much better now. Without being close to a true FPS, it will still satisfy people who likes shooting without the V.A.T.S. system;
    - About the V.A.T.S. system, it was also improved to make it more action oriented. Now the time slows without stopping, helping players without taking out the sense of urgency in battle;
    - Graphics are way better than any other Bethesda game ever made. Compared to other FO and TES games, Fallout 4 is colorful and offers a large array of environments that the player can live in;
    - The new dialogue system (à la Mass Effect) was said to be a downgrade to previous games. It is however very good, thanks to the above average acting by both male and female voice actors. Having a voice also gives an opportunity for Fallout 4 to have more "cinematic" moments and more emotions throughout the game;
    - The story is one of the most detailed ever made by Bethesda;
    - The crafting system and the progression system (SPECIAL) are better than ever with new ways for player to build what they truly want to become;
    - Settlements and Power Armors (as they are now) are pretty good additions too.

The only lacks in the game are probably some minor bugs (that are actually more funny than gamebreaking) and the companion AI (that I feel is not up to what can be done). Fallout 4 is the new definition of RPG in 2015 and is really the peak of the serie. It is the Skyrim of Fallout 3.

    Beginning thoughts:
I've spent the past two days alone in my room with my controller in hand playing the crap out of this game, and I'm still only in the beginning of the story! There is so much to look at, to discover, to explore, in this beautiful open world experience. There is a new event around every corner that will distract you from the mission you're trying to accomplish. For example, in one mission, I have to clear our a military base of ghouls. When I enter the building, I find this brotherhood of steel chick, dead in the corner with a holo tape recording of her mission. A new quest pops up: investigate her objective. Now I have to decide to carry out my mission or give in to curiosity.
This 'choice' is what really makes this game work for me. I hate when games are linear, I like thinking for myself. Fallout has always been great at giving us free will instead of a 'kill everything you see and follow the objective.' If you like intellectual game play rather than robotic, you will love this game.

    Overview
    Game play:
Deep. Immersive. Shooting is finally enjoyable in fallout. Almost every aspect of the game-play is great.
    Story:
Slow start, but it picks up after a while. It's a really deep and emotional experience.
    Graphics:
If you don't like F4's graphics, you need glasses. They look great, a 400% improvement from previous fallout games. I call it 'Cartoon Realism,' and it's a great style for the fallout mood. I really appreciate that they showed the real game in the trailers instead of an HD parody. I love the graphics, and I prefer them to many of the super graphics that other games are advertising.
    Score:
*Clap clap clap* The memories. Great soundtrack.
    Voice acting:
Great acting, but the voice doesn't always match up with the video. For the voice acted protagonist, I absolutely adore having a voice for one. It makes me feel like a part of the world rather than a perception of it.
    Bugs:
There are bugs, but it's much more polished than fallout 3. Of course such an open game, with limitless freedom, is going to have bugs.
    Overview:
The best game out there as of right now. If you don't have this game, pick it up, whether you're a fallout fan or not. It's worth every penny.

    Addressing the negative reviews:
I don't know why the reviews for this game are so harsh. My prediction is that people are just so brainwashed with linear story and superb graphics, and when they play fallout, the freedom and the change in what they're seeing scares them. It could also be that people are so used to being let down by AAA game companies, that they've been conditioned to look for the negative on everything, especially something innovative that isn't the 'Good old days.' It could also be that people are being childish, and simply hating on the game. That would explain all the 0s.
Whatever the reason may be, these reviews should be disregarded. We should save negativity for what is actually bad, not for what's great and innovative. If the majority give all games, even good ones, bad reviews, than game companies won't take our input seriously. This could also frighten them from change, and for the case of half life three, could cause games to not be made at all.
In my opinion, this is the best game of the year. Keep it up, Bethesda.

I am also a HUGE Bethesda fan, playing the Elder Scrolls series since Morrowind. Morrowind and Oblivion are some of my favorite RPGs of all time. With all that said Fallout 4 has been an incredible game with many interesting and fun elements. For all of you who don't like to read I'm going to do you a favor and break it down into four points: 1. Gameplay 2. Sound 3. New Features 4. Problems I have with it

    1. The gun gameplay is superb with so many guns and customizations to choose from no two guns feel the same. Sure the controls aren't as snappy or controllable as Battlefied or COD but that's hardly to be expected from an RPG... VATS is as helpful as always providing a helpful slow down to the madness during combat but now it keeps time going which adds an element of risk to your selection. Will they move in time to avoid your shot or dodge behind a piece of cover? Lastly because of the viewing distances sniping and long range combat is better than ever before. I personally like to run a ranged character specializing in sneak, perception, and agility. To conclude, the gameplay is classic Fallout at its best, refined and tuned to keep up with modern gaming but not too different to loose that frantic Fallout feel.

    2. So many of you have complained about the voice acting for the main characters and that it is a travesty equal to treason and punishable by death. Why?? When did having a voiced character become a bad thing? I must have been out of town and missed the memo. Just as many great games (Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect, BioShock just to name a few) have done in the past Fallout has given a voice to our character. Maybe some of you don't like it because it takes away from your connection to the character? What ever it is if it really bothers you that much GET OVER IT. It is not a big deal its just a voice and doesn't take away from the gameplay and if it really bothers you that much you have my permission to plug your ears and hum a tune every time your character talks. Moving on, the music score is classic drawing much of the music that made FO3 great and adding some new classics.

    3. Customization out the wazzoo, Settlements, Facial sculpting, power armor customization, customization of weapons, customization, customization oh yeah and customization. There are so many things in this game that you can change and make your own! This leads to many different possibilities for dramatically different play throughs. Something to me that makes Bethesda RPGs so great are the many different customizations of character, weapons, skills, armor, and even story and FO4 delivers this over and over. Another new feature to add to this list are good graphics. I know that some of you will think "Wahh good graphics aren't a new feature wahhh" and I will respond by saying um yes they are. Maybe many of you forgot or just have issues with memory but FO3's graphics SUCK!! Seriously go back and try playing now you will be amazed at how poorly the graphics look. Want to know why? Because it is a massive game! you cant expect a game that huge to have photorealistic graphics (at least not yet). Here is a revelation that will amazing you... FO4 does have good graphics! Sure its not going to win any awards for its graphics but its on par with every other massive game Bethesda has come out with. So until all you people who whine about graphics get a masters degree in game/graphic design, can it.

    4. Lastly here are my problems: it wen the route of Skyrim. Bethesda has done this thing recently where it is trying to appeal to you silly casual gamers (what ever that is) and has dumbed down their game. Personally I thought Skyrim was only decent and lacked a TON of cool, albeit, more complicated features oblivion did (off the top of my head spell creation). Bethesda has done it again with FO4 where they have taken out some of the features that will in the long run make each of the characters you create more unique and lost some of its depth in gameplay. An example of this is the fact that now all you have for skills is the S.P.E.C.I.A.L system instead of each skill being leveled up with use. This makes it so that you don't have to learn to use skills before you put points into them and makes your character feel over powered right off the start. Secondly I wish they hadn't made power armor so abundant and so accessible right away... Power armor should be something you work to and establishes you as a king/queen of the wasteland later in the game.

To recap this lengthy review (thanks to those who actually read this even though I doubt it was many). FO4 is an INCREDIBLE game that is only going to improve over time with updates and DLC. Give it a chance, stop being a cry baby, and actually try playing it through and you might realize that you have a piece of gaming history.

After waiting 5 years since New Vegas came out, I thought that my very high expectations that I'd set were about to be destroyed based on the initial user reviews. Wrong. This game is incredible and is exactly what you'd expect from Bethesda. I would imagine that the people giving this game terrible reviews are either trolling, have never played a Fallout/Bethesda game before, didn't settle into the game, or just have poor taste in video games.

While there are some major differences from previous releases, as far as the spoken dialogue and the much overhauled shooter mechanics, these elements only add to the betterment of the game, not subtract from it. I get that some people like to be in control of everything so the simplified SPECIAL system, where you can no longer put individual points in Lockpicking, Explosives, etc. might take away from their experience, however as gamers we're forced to evolve our play style just as the games evolve. There's no need to be afraid of change. It's going to be okay.

    Here are the pros:

    - The story is amazing. I found myself getting so wrapped up in the main story line that I'm pushing hard to complete it so I can start on some side quests. But as a father in real life, I can't imagine putting the main objective on hold to go help out some wanker kid who needs his water source cleaned up.
    - Shooter mechanics have been greatly improved. It doesn't rival a traditional FPS and is nowhere near Destiny good, but considering how bad it's traditionally been, I was ecstatic that I could aim down sights and actually hit something.
    - The graphics are good (not great), but they dynamic colors of everything are what really make a difference. I didn't care for the green tint in FO3 or the Orangish tint in NV. This makes the world vibrant and a little less daunting.
    - The ghouls are creepy as hell. Bethesda really did a great job with this.
    - Crafting system is great, and I love the weapon mods.
    - There are so many more little things that make this game great, but the main takeaway is if you're looking for an immersive world to spend a couple hundred hours in, then FO4 is for you.

    The Bad:
    - There have been a few glitches that I've encountered, and only one that had any real impact on my game. Luckily, I'm a pretty avid saver and it only put me back a few minutes.
    - You'll probably feel pretty lost for the first few hours, however once you get going with the quests they begin rolling in pretty regularly.

    Unsure
    - The settlement feature. I haven't played around with this enough to have an opinion either way. I think I would like it more if I was one of these super-creative people. But I struggled for an hour putting up a fence. Probably one aspect that I won't spend a lot of time with in the future.

I've spent around 80 hours with Fallout 4, and in those 80 hours I've discovered two things: there is allot of good, and a little bit of bad. Fallout 4 is a huge, dense, ambitious, open-world shooter RPG. To put it shortly: buy it. It's great. It's well worth the money. You will not be disappointed. For a more detailed explanation, read on.
    Pros:
Fallout 4 does many, many things right.

Fallout 4 is a huge, dense, ambitious, open-world shooter RPG. To put it shortly: buy it. It's great. It's well worth the money. You will not be disappointed. For a more detailed explanation, read on.
    Pros:
Fallout 4 does many, many things right. From the very moment I started playing I found myself hooked.
-The graphics are quite good, despite what all of the other reviews may say. Granted, the textures are not the best they could be, and the facial animation certainly isn't close to life-like, but overall, the graphics and animations are solid. The moment I first stepped out of the vault and into the wasteland I found myself just looking into the trees, with rays of sunshine peering through them in a manner I haven't seen before. The game features volumetric lighting, which is a fancy term for describing that light will interact with dust/fog/water differently than a clear atmosphere. There are times where the sun shines in combination with the fog, the trees and/or buildings, and it creates a vibe I've never felt in games. Even the overall draw distance is quite good, but it does lack in some places. Overall, for being a big open world game with so many complicated mechanics, the graphics are great.

-The gameplay is soooo much better than the previous Fallouts. Well, I suppose that that is a matter of opinion, but if you're playing Fallout for a nice open-world shooter experience, then they absolutely nailed it. The gun play and mechanics are at least 5 times better than in previous Fallout games, where the shooting felt clunky, and more of a secondary feature. Guns feel like guns should feel in a shooter. The world itself is incredibly dense and filled with meaningful places. No two places look alike, and there is a certain excitement you feel when you find some place new. Some reviewers are complaining that Fallout 4 doesn't feature as many RPG mechanics as previous Fallout games, and I'll have to disagree. While dialogue options have been simplified, the world is still just as robust and dynamic as it was in previous Fallout games, with several options applying to most situations. You can side with multiple different factions, which in turn affect the way the game ends. The game features a rather large weapon and armor modification crafting system, which uses materials gathered from junk scattered throughout the world. This means, as Todd Howard said at E3, that all things have a purpose. In previous Fallout games, there were lots of items in the world, but many (I mean most of them) didn't have a purpose at all. There are many, many quests in Fallout 4, but many of them are the infinitely repeatable quests that you can play for as long as you can stomach them. The quests in the game are flawed in one sense: there isn't as many unique quests in Fallout 4 compared to previous installments in the series. This, however, doesn't effect the overall experience with the game. It still has lots of things to do, people to meet, places to discover, and adventures to be had.
    Cons:
Fallout 4 is an incredibly good game that I look forward to playing for at least the next year or two, but it does have some flaws. None of the items I'm about to point out damage the game in a sense that it isn't worth buying, as many reviewers have implied.
-Glitches. Yes, there is glitches. If you intend on buying a Bethesda game and don't expect a glitch or two, then why don't you go to the strip club and not expect to see boobs while you're at it. Glitches are a fact of life in the modern world of gaming. Some games, at release, are so buggy that they aren't even playable. Fallout 4 is not one of those games. While I did encounter several glitches in my first play through, I did not encounter any that would be considered game-breaking, and some were just downright silly or entertaining. One of the more common ones everyone is finding is a glitch after killing an enemy in V.A.T.S. in which the enemy flies an incredibly unrealistic/awesome distance after killing them.

-Some gameplay mechanics can be much better. Yes, despite this game consuming my life for the past 3 weeks, there are some things they could do better. Many of which will (hopefully) be fixed with a patch in the coming months. The companion system, for example, is not very good. Not in the sense of talking to them, but pretty much everything else. In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, your companions felt very valuable. They kicked ass. Often you could just let them do all the light work for you. But in Fallout 4, your companions feel pretty much worthless in combat. Other than Dogmeat. Dogmeat is pretty cool.
-Base Building could be much better. It is still quite extensive, but at times it feels clunky, and seems like it takes much more time to build something simple than it should.
Overall, Fallout 4 is an amazing game. :)

Fallout 4 totally changed the series into a new and fresh game filled with amazing graphics and fun game play. Bethesda put a lot of effort into this game and the result is outstanding. The RPG aspect fits wonderfully in the world you survive in and the FPS aspect mixes with the RPG aspect to create a masterpiece. A game that is totally worth buying.

One of my favorite RPGs of all time and maybe my favorite Fallout game. While I wish they hadn’t changed the dialogue and options like they did they made up for it with world building and combat. Great, great game. FO5 can’t get here soon enough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a part 2 from my first review of Fallout 4.
Still on THE GOOD: The power armor in the game is the best of the other Fall outs. Its a robotic suit instead of just armor you put on.
The combat is awesome, it's a lot smoother and more fun.
The locations are awesome like the glowing sea, where the nuclear bomb stuck the commonwealth. It is a great location because it feels like your actually there in the sea (not really a sea). Its cool that you need radiation gear to survive. Other locations look cool like the super mutant bases.
The side quests are really good also, you never know what you'll encounter. I don't dislike a single quest in the game.
The new level system is really awesome since you can level up indefinitely. There ain't no skills but I am satisfied by all the perks. I'm a level 70 and there are still plenty of skills to get.
The graphics look awesome to me.

THE BAD: The only thing I wish was better about Fallout 4 is that I wish they added more side quests. There are plenty of quests to do but I felt like there should've being more.
BUGS: This game has froze more than any other game I played on Xbox 1. Though that ain't that many. I have run into my pip boy getting stuck(happened once). I have got stuck a few times, though that's easy to fix because you can just fast travel to get out.

Over all Fall out 4 has kept me very interested for 200+ hours. It is my most favorite game. I gave it a 10 because everything they did with it was really good.

THE BEST: Amazing characters including your protagonist, main quests are good and keep you interested, extremely fun to build and explore.

A wonderful addition to the Fallout universe, and it is only going to get better. Every negative review i read it seems the persons complaints always boiled down to the fact that they are no good at bethesda style game, If you love Bethesda you will love Fallout 4!

This is an easy one for me: This is the best game ever! I was already a big fan out Fallout 3, besides the huge amount of bugs, Fallout 4 does a step up. What a great game, what a possibilities! Endless game time. I finished the storylines (yes there are more!), and still the game is far but finished.
The game is a must have. If you rate this badly, then I wouldn't know what you like

    I’m Falling for this game.
Fallout 4, before I played this game I thought it was the most stupid game ever because it was confusing. But I played it now, I’ve watched people play it. Fallout 4, before I played this game I thought it was the most stupid game ever because it was confusing. But I played it now, I’ve watched people play it. The premise of the game is a nuke goes off and before it goes off you are invited to join a vault, just for precautions. The nuke goes off and you, your wife, and your son get frozen in a cryogen container and fall asleep. 200 years later you wake up and see your wife get killed and your son gets kidnapped by the people who created the vault, then you fall asleep again. When you wake up the land is destroyed and animals and people are infected. It’s the apocalypse. You have to get food and water, build resources and buildings. You’re the main character and you do missions and try to find your son that was kidnapped.
This game is super fun, I love how you can modify your weapons and make them to your needs, not the needs of the game. You can put different sights on your gun. Also, you can make it better, so it has better damage, ammo clips, grip, etc. You can make it so it has a different paint job. Or make it shoot a different way. Modifying your gun the right way will make playing the game a lot easier.
You can create your character, and you can control how big or small he or she is. You can pretty much make him or her however you want, it’s pretty fun. You can make him or her whatever race you want, you can make him or her have whatever scars or color hair or eyes. It took me an hour to create mine. You can also pick your name. Creating your character is a really good part about the game. Also, at the beginning of the game you get aspect points. Beginners, experts, anyone, at any level can control their strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility, and luck for the game.
Another fun aspect of this game is having a dog, especially because it can’t die. The worst it gets is that it won’t be able to attack enemies. Also you can give him armor. You can also get different species of dog, like a german shepard or a bull dog. Some breeds are better than others. Some breeds do more damage, some smell better, or can sniff out better items.
The graphics in this game are amazing. The picture on the right is exactly what the game’s graphics look like. The reaction time is also amazing. If you made this game’s graphics any better than it would look just like real life compared to older games.
This game has more advanced technology and weapons in the game compared to real life. You use things like laser rifles and battle armor very advanced stuff. In the battle armor you are way more protected than just out in the open. You can drop from a building and barely lose any health.
This game is rated M. Only because of language and it’s pretty scary, considering all of zombies popping up. It’s mostly dark so that adds to the zombies being scary. It cost somewhere between $50-$60. You can play on Xbox One and PS4. I really recommend this game, it is really worth the money.

There is a reason the gaming industry is suffering...and that reason is all the idiots at the other end of this scale giving this game a zero rating. Are we playing the same game?
OK, to be fair, I read many of those reviews, so here is a rebuttal to some of them:
-graphics: if you only play games for snazzy graphics at the expense of everything else then you probably loved the dumb

OK, to be fair, I read many of those reviews, so here is a rebuttal to some of them:
-graphics: if you only play games for snazzy graphics at the expense of everything else then you probably loved the dumb later FF series where you push a button or two to watch a bunch of cutscenes.
-gameplay: the game is huge. Huge. Folks who played for "seven hours" are truly not giving the game a chance, as 7 hours means you didn't manage to open ANY of the interesting quests and storylines.
-dying too much: learn to play an RPG n00b.

This game is a mashup of a town-building minecrafty game with an RPG/shooter, set in as open a world as they could make it but still ensure there is a story line. In order to get anywhere, you need to go slow, finding stuff you can use to get better armor weapons etc., all the while levelling up your character.
I am over 75 hours in, and have barely touched the main story, being busy building up an infrastructure of settlements, where you take control and build everything, from walls/turrets/defenses, to houses (complete with furnishings decorations etc), from the floor up. I loved the idea of these two disparate game styles coming together so well, and Bethesda did a great job on it.

I have nearly clocked twenty-four hours and my XBOX tells me I am only ten percent into the game. The story is very good so far but if I had to pick one thing to give credit to Bethesda for in the story it would be the pacing. In some giant R.P.G's. with very long stories the pacing can be a bit slow at times but the pacing in Fallout 4 is spot on, has you interested and having fun the whole way through. Although the graphics are not the best and there is the occasional frame-rate drop, it do not take away from the experience that is, Fallout 4. Expand

While this game can be played as a first person shooter, it finds its fullest expression when the character uses the tools provides to rebuild civilization, sim city style. If you think that scavving a radioactive wasteland for materials to rebuild villages, forts and outposts and then defending them against hordes of ghouls, super mutants, robot raiding parties and other nasties sounds like your idea of fun then this might be the game for you. The game also rewards characters for changing apparel and interacting with npc's so the net effect is that of a super hero with an alter ego persona. My relatively low-level character is by day a burgeoning industrialist raking in thousands of caps every day. By night she is a fully mechanized-suit wearing superhero. F.O 4 has an average play time of over 100+ hours and counting which ranks up there with Skyrim, so the people who "get" how it is meant to be played really love it. Expand

And am over level 60 already. Any kind of game that allows this kind of investment in time, and enjoyment, gets the thumbs up in my book.

Sorry just one more thing. As to the glitches, they are not game breaking, but are built in to the game mechanics. Perhaps with the exception of if you kill a vendor, everyone will attack you. But the idea that you can buy materials, and build with them, and then scrap and rebuild. As well as build water purifiers and pumps, for free resources, which replenish at periodic intervals, is really a great formula, which is hard to beat.

Sometimes beautiful, a bit broken, and really quite brilliant in many places, forgiving fans will adore Fallout 4. [Christmas 2015, p.60]
  3. More Fallout 3.9 than 4, but still absolutely essential. Skyrim 2 has a hard act to follow. [Jan 2016, p.67]
