Fade to Silence‘s strengths definitely outweigh its weaknesses, though. Its unique setting makes you want to go out and discover its secrets. Its camp building elements reward you for seeking out other survivors and building bonds with them. And the survival aspects give the game depth and added challenge. It isn’t just a bog-standard adventure game with a frosty backdrop; in Fade to Silence, the weather is your biggest foe.

A game with interesting ideas but a bad realization that makes this game fun for a while, but boring in the long run. Also it's ugly and unpolished.

If you’re after a game that looks fantastic Fade to Silence will certainly prove perfect for some wintry screenshots. However should you be on the lookout for something that provides a fair yet challenging survival experience within a post-apocalyptic setting, then it may not prove quite the fluid and enjoyable experience you’d hoped for.

Fade to Silence offers quite an accessible survival adventure that knows exactly when to push your buttons. The game’s seemingly interesting world is full of possibilities and dangers of equal measure, ensuring that there’s always some event to take on throughout. The drawback, however, is that of its lack of polish and mechanical depth, together with its awkward combat. Shame really, with more time in the oven, this could have been a big hit.

Fade to Silence tries to mix many different elements like survival, management and souls-like combat, but it fails in doing it in a cohesive and satisfying way, resulting in a frustratingly difficult and often boring gameplay, with several technical problems too.

Immersive, sometimes beautiful and pleasant in co-op, Fade to Silence is a game that unfortunately fails to bring a polished combat system, a good narrative experience, or even a correct technical side (bugs, crash, AI issues).

Fade to Silence's survival mechanics are mostly a success and, combined with its truly punishing blizzard system, creates moments of gleeful suspense. If the game had eliminated the monster threat and the dull combat mechanics, instead focusing on shoring up the survival elements, it would perhaps be one of the best survival titles of the year. As it is now, it's still a worthwhile experience with an absorbing premise and fun moments sprinkled throughout, but it's far too plodding in so many areas to be considered something truly great.
