For a Ratalaika port, Even the Ocean on the Xbox One is a true hidden gem. Part platforming and part deep, engrossing story, it's a real surprise. Aliph is thrown into the deep end in her new job and surrounding her is a supporting cast that is extremely well-written.

Even the Ocean is a narrative action plat-former about balancing the Light and Dark energies that hold the world together. Interestingly, ifEven the Ocean is a narrative action plat-former about balancing the Light and Dark energies that hold the world together. Interestingly, if you're not too bothered about the action or puzzling, you'll be able to do a "story-only" run-through of Even the Ocean. The inverse is a 'gameplay'-only run is also possible, as is the more traditional both-at-once approach. As much as I enjoy the story, it’s important to focus on the gameplay, because Even the Ocean isn’t a visual novel in the end. It’s very much a puzzle based plat-former. There's Even The Ocean is what it is and that's not necessarily a bad thing.. I've been keen to watch the story play out once I've finished the game. Full Review »
