I can't believe some are giving this a bad score, the game play is improved, the areas are HUGE....Seriously, I haven't felt this since skyrim. The only problems I've encountered are small non game breaking bugs which will likely be patched, even with them my score stays a 10. All in all, BUY DA:I, IT IS WORTH IT...unless you know, you haven't played origins, if not maybe buy that andI can't believe some are giving this a bad score, the game play is improved, the areas are HUGE....Seriously, I haven't felt this since skyrim. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've only been able to play 6 hours since release, but I can already tell this will take up a lot of my future time. The story is a little slow to start, but I haven't really cared since I've been too busy exploring. The starting location (Hinterlands) feels enormous, and you can pretty much set off in any direction and find something to do and explore.

One of my favorite parts so far *Minor Spoiler* was wandering through a Templar Camp which ended with an enormous waterfall. I used the search button while mining for ore and discovered some super-rare crafting materials, and a rare sword. While not as "open world" as say Skyrim, I'm really, really enjoying it.

    * Amazing atmosphere, I haven't felt this giddy walking around and exploring since Skyrim... it's more polished though, with only the odd graphical oddity.
    * Origins level, if not better, writing.
    * Controller+PC = The most fun way to play. The UI for KB+M is lovely, but the movement is much, much better on controller..... they very much tailored EVERYTHING to work better on the gamepad

    * Use Mantle if you are AMD GPU - I got a based god 10fps bump and everything just seems to look and run better when using the Mantle API.
    * Install on a SSD for sure, load times are next to none.. just long enough to read 1-2 of the cards then you're into the game.
    * Cut-scenes were a bit stuttery as well, until I used Mantle.. AMD cards and DX11 in this game don't like each other as much.
    * The best music I have ever heard in a game, and I'm only 10 hours in.. it's just...... spectacular.
    * The Storytelling, so far, is amazing... only bested by the superb atmosphere and character interactions.
    * GOTY shoe in from what I've played.. it's the Dragon Age game you have been waiting for since finishing Origins, believe the hype.

I am a huge Dragon age fan and have been for years. I've been counting down the days till the game came out for months. Now that I have it I'm so disappointed that I made an account here just so I could review what is one of the most unoriginal games it has ever been my displeasure to play.

First off, this game is a blatant rip off of the Witcher 2. The inventory, scenery, map, gameplay, body language, movement, even the FONT is straight out of the Witcher. I cannot fathom why someone would want to copy something to such an extent, but they did, and they should be ashamed. Now don't get me wrong, the Witcher is an excellent game, and when something is done well, there's nothing wrong with incorporating features of that success in your own game, but that doesn't mean you should make the exact game with different characters. Don't we see enough of that television? Taco Bell is successful, but I don't see Burger King abandoning their menu and copying Taco Bell's exactly. Because that would be stupid and pointless. Like this game
Furthermore, the writing and storyline are more bland and flavorless than uncooked white rice. I understand that it takes time and money to make deep and involving dialogue, but my god, this is their job. The characters are as flat as Queen Amidala in the Phantom Menace I am not exaggerating. There is not of the thought or planning in combat that made Dragon age Origins and II good. The AI does everything. Reviving characters is as simple as walking over and hitting A. The mechanics of the game are awkward and random. The map is bizarre and unclear. The characters have maintained none of their past vigor or humor. They are so bland, I hesitate to call them characters at all. They're more like potatoes that walk. Walking Potato Inquisition.

    It's pretty though.

Most of the game is simply repetitive collecting, yet I continued to almost the last Rift. I think this is because I was looking for something in the game that it promised, but never materialized. The customization of weapons and armors is surprisingly limited considering it has a crafting system which seems to offer infinite possibilities ( you basically get a choice of four/five options and control over colour to some degree). Unique weapons aren't unique in many cases. Runes are not remotely necessary because the game is easy enough without them. Combat is either hold one button or micro-managing - either way its pretty monochrome regardless of the enemy - even the end boss who offers the exact same challenge as two or three other breeds of enemy. The command you have over the world is piecemeal, the choices you make a fake. For example, inquisition members are prescribed; either you have them or you don't - your not choosing between things that make a real difference to your experience or strategic options you simply choose if a character is present or not. It's not an exchange, there are no real consequences - its a hollow choice. This extends to all the 'major' decisions you make. My second (half) play through with opposite approaches proved this.

The story is really short but solid enough. If you pay close attention to the lore its actually quite dramatic. But, the auxiliary missions that would make this a decent RPG are driven by really trivial, even absent story's. Thus, they add almost nothing and the game itself becomes very small despite its very pretty and sizable world.

Ultimately I think I just felt as though i was searching for something new, anticipating something significant, or waiting for a decision to come back and haunt or help me - none of this ever happened. Its an elaborate arcade game posing as a deep RPG.

However, I do not think that it is excellent either; it is, simply, OK. I must confess that I have not finished the game, but here are my impressions from about 50 hours in: I feel like a lot of my disappointment regarding Inquisition is a result of the expectations that the men and woman at BioWare have created for themselves. Compared to their best games, such as Mass Effect 2 or Baldur's Gate 2, the narrative, characters and game play of Inquisition fall flat (in my opinion, of course).

The narrative consists of a slew of tired fantasy tropes: your character comes out of nowhere because he/she has been granted power from forces beyond his/her control. The antagonist is an ancient evil hell-bent on conquering all the land (to what end, I ask?!?). You must unite various factions against said evil in order to save the generic fantasy realm. Even the actual story arc is all too familiar (I will avoid going into it in detail to avoid spoilers). However, all that being said, it is extremely difficult to come up with a truly original narrative and BioWare still does a good job of providing the player with choice. Indeed, during my time in Inquisition I was forced to make difficult choices that impacted the world and characters around me. It is just unfortunate that the story can't seem to offer anything remotely original.

The characters in Inquisition are hit and miss for me. While conversations with The Iron Bull, Dorian, and Varric were entertaining, my encounters with Blackwall, Cassandra, and Lilliana left me either bored or cringing. Many of the other inhabitants of Inquisition's world simply did not leave much of an impression on me. Again, the characters in Inquisition aren't that bad, but they're disappointing relative to BioWare's other efforts. However, this may simply be my personal taste.

The game play of Inquisition, like the characters, is a mixed bag. Combat is fun: I have enjoyed my time slipping in and out of shadows as my assassin and leaping into the air, descending upon my opponents with two deadly daggers. However, I found that the combat system became a bit repetitive after awhile and that the tactical camera was difficult to use and, for the most part, useless anyway. However, it may be of more use on the PC version of the game. I found many of the side quests rather annoying; they felt like they belonged in an MMO. However, despite the "open-world" claims made by BioWare, the game does not have the scope of an MMO (or something like Skyrim for that matter) to go with the fetch and kill quests. Part of what makes an MMO fun, for me, is the promise of a new area and the sheer vastness of the world. This, along with the constant level indicator and experience bar, makes the repetitive side quests worthwhile. While Inquisition's areas are certainly not small, the world lacks the size and open-ended exploration encouraged by an MMO while retaining the MMO style of side quests; the end result is an odd mix-match of single player RPG and MMO that, frankly, did not engage me as well as either. Furthermore, I did not enjoy the war table missions. It is definitely an interesting idea, but I did not like that I had to wait for a few hours for a mission to be complete. After awhile, assigning my advisors to various tasks felt like a chore. It kind of reminded me of the mineral scanning in Mass Effect 2, though admittedly not as tedious.

It is also worth pointing out that the world looks great. Inquisition is definitely a next-gen game. Yet I found the character models and textures to be, once again, a mixed bag. Some of the animations seemed a bit clunky, while the lip syncing and facial animations often did not look natural. At a distance they looked great though.

While this review of Inquisition may seem overly critical, I have, overall, enjoyed my return to Thedas. Despite its flaws, Dragon Age: Inquisition provides an enjoyable, albeit unoriginal, experience and gives the player choice, along with customization options not present in its predecessor, Dragon Age 2 (thank you for letting me be an elf again, BioWare!). Yet I cannot help but feel disappointed by the game's shortcomings, especially when compared to BioWare's best efforts.

PLEASE NOTE: I have not tried the game's multiplayer. This is a review of the single player mode only!

Well.... It's a good but very tedious game. I wish I had played this on PC to get better visuals but the Xbox version was ok. The pace is extremely slow and the crafting is terrible. The story does pick up in hour 35 but it was to little to late. But overall well worth $60.

Of the german voice acting, only the main characters were well done, the rest of it was not so good.
The graphics are very pretty, however, the desert areas did not feel authentic to me.
Some pieces of lore you find are quite good. Others were quite bland and trivial and did not add much to the lore. I thought Dragon age 1 had overall better richer writing in its codex pieces as I remember.

Exploration is very enjoyable, the areas feel rich and it was a joy to wander through them and explore sites, although the questing was a bit dull.

Overall would have wished for a game with tighter, more dramatic story with nice cutscenes and better characters

It has just enough of the great things that made BioWare among the best to keep you going. But when you stop and really think about what you're playing, you realize the problems, and you see the trends of darkness coming for your soul:

    - Fetch quests: So many, many fetch quests. 4/5 of the gameplay of DA:I can fall into this category.

    - Side quests: Do you like side quests with real character development and interesting plots? This isn't the game for you.

    - The grind: There's nothing so enjoyable as feeling like you're in the South Park episode milling monsters in a forest until blood starts coming out of your eyes.

    - Characters: There's just enough of these characters to make you care, sort of. But it's barely there, and all it does is make you mourn for how much you cared about every single person in the ME series.

    - Plot: I wrote the entire plot of this game on a metaphorical cocktail napkin after I played the first hour, about how I thought it would play out. Turns out I was right. Nobody who's played the game will be shocked by this. It's just as bland as ME:A.

This was the last gasp, then it was all over, goodbye BioWare, EA ate your soul. So I somewhat enjoyed the ride of DA:I, I guess?

After a while, the slog of the game got to me, and I'm like, "Man, I just want to replay ME, again."

In all honesty, what we got was a hot mess. Most of the time your attacks are as simple as just holding down one trigger, with the occasional button tap, making most battles stale and uninteresting. The level progression is pretty terrible too; I'm all for games encouraging playing sidequests in order to advance in the main story, but in this game only sidequests that give you power will help with that. Effectively this means that more than half the sidequests are not helpful to your story (or in most cases, even level) progression at all. And don't get me started on how you cannot have a healer in your party, and have to use limited resources to restore HP. That got dreadful after awhile. In the roleplaying side, while the choices were definitely improved, the romance option was reduced to dreadful status. If you are a straight male, you have 2 romance options in the game, and that's it (you get 2 more if you're bi/gay). On the other hand if you're a straight female, you get 4 dating options (with another 2 if you're bi/gay). With this in mind I see now why most of the praise from this game comes from women, as it is without question catering to the girl and LGBT players. As a straight male, this made this element of the game highly unenjoyable, as the romance choices I got very much felt like leftovers.

Now this game definitely has redeeming qualities, or else I would not have seen it through to the end. The areas are gorgeous and very fun to go exploring around in, making each new area you unlock exciting even if you get your butt kicked and have to leave for awhile. It's fun to customize your base of operations and go exploring doing random daily tasks, and listen to what the characters are saying. And the best part of this game, where it really shines, your Inner Circle. You have a very large party each with their own unique stories, and it's fun to do side quests with them to learn more about who they are and help them through their problems. I had much more fun helping Cole deal with his identity, Cassandra come to terms with the Chantry, and pulling pranks with Sera than I did any of the main story quests. If it wasn't for these great characters, the whole game would've been a bust.

This game was definitely an improvement over Origins, but still missed several marks that made it fall short of being great. I'm not sure how this game ever won Game of the Year. It wasn't terrible, but definitely nothing I'm going to play again.

I've since logged over 100 hours into the game.

After being jammed into one city for all of 2, the vast open areas of inquisition was a much needed change of pace. I spent hours wandering around doing side quest, looking for resources, or getting into little skirmishes just for the fun of it. You really feel like you are in a different world than in the other 2 games, and the graphics, though not as good as some next gen games i've played, are still gorgeous and really add to the expanse of the game.

The combat improved off of DA2. It flowed well freely, allowing the hack and slashers to just run through the hordes, while the paused overhead viewed gave the more tactical minds the ability to pick apart their enemies. Personally, I did a bit of both. The games difficulty curve had more ups and downs than the stock market, but that made it a bit more engaging for me. It forced you to stop and observe the forces before making your move, and it wasn't until the end of the game (i'll be getting to that later as well) that i ever felt overpowered.

The newish crafting system was more of an after thought for me. I never used the potion making, and only crafted weapons and amor after i realized the odds of finding a good weapon in loot was extraordinarily rare unlikely. It probably made for a good distraction for some.

The party characters were also pretty vanilla, with only a couple actually standing out [Iron Bull, Varric, Cassandra (really, only because i romanced her)]. I honestly found many of the side characters to be more entertaining. The voice acting was top notch, as always, however, it was constantly undermined by stiff animations and graphic glitches (one of which happened during the middle of the lover scene of the Cassandra romance. My character started to spaz out on her like a demon possessed).

The only downfall of the graphics were the constant glitches, many of which happened when characters affected by choices in the previous games (Hawke and Loghain especially) were in conversations. There were normally long pauses that took a couple of minutes to load through.

The soundtrack was astounding, but it has become expected from a Bioware game. A real stand out point was the bard in Skyhold's tavern. I don't know who they got to do the singing, but i would constantly stop and listen every time i went into talk to Iron Bull.

Now to the AI. It was inconsistent at best. One moment my team would be clicking on all cylinders, the warriors drawing them in, the mage dropping barriers and hitting the enemy with various spells, and me running around the back and picking people off, the next moment, the mage would run into the middle of all the warriors, my warriors would go chasing after an archer not even engaged in the battle, and i was left on the outside doing what i could to try and keep the mage alive (tactical camera was very useful for that). There were a few times my people, or even the enemy, would just stop fighting, and let the other side do massive damage, often times killing them. It did provide a couple of humorous moments of giants just standing and accepting their fate.
The targeting system was just annoying. It would constantly change between opponents with no rhyme or reason, even when "locked on." Put me in some bad situations on more than one occasion.

I was ok with all of this. A lot of the glitches made me laugh, and the dialogue between characters really came to life at times. The poor AI added some extra difficulty that made it more rewarding to win, and just exploring was enough to keep me enthralled.

That is until i got to Bioware's Achilles' heel, the ending. I'm not going to go in much detail here for spoiler reasons, but the ending was just flat. The boss battle was boring. So much so that i thought it was just another false ending, but no, you got your goodbye to you gang celebration, and then the end.

But it wasn't the end, and this was the stab to the heart. One final scene that had a head spinning twist only served as a promotion for DLC to come. The actually main storyline was about the length of a halo game, extended by forcing a player to do side quests, most of which had more depth, for "power" to open up the next part of the story.

All of the sudden, everything came into perspective. The dialogue was boring, the story line short and unfulfilling, glitches a plenty, and a grind it out pace akin to Destiny was all acceptable to me. Having a final scene saying wait till the DLC for the real ending is unacceptable, especially with the 2 prequels having longer main storylines with standalone DLC storylines.

I spent over a 100hrs on the game, and it took the last 20 to ruin it.

    negative:
    - character graphics and animations are buggy and sub par.
    - open world quests are mmo style.
    - companion characters do feel obsolete and missing deep.
    - inventory and weapon upgrade system is a nightmare!
    - combat system is the worst of all 3 games.

The game starts very imemrsive and with good storytelling and character/companion integration.
The more the game goes on the less connect with characters and the game you get.
This is mainly because the "open world" quests feel stubborn and less of an exploration. It is more like mmo leveling quests. The big puzzles and dungeon parts of da:origins and also the second da game are missing.
There are some storyline quests like the mage questline but it lacks puzzles and character integration.
The game tries to many and all of that in an mediocre style.

Da. Inquisition is an ok game but does in no case reach it's ancestors. Ther eis not much exploration more a kind of "grind"

Lets start with the good, because they have done some things well. It seems very much to me like they tried to move the DA franchise towards more of a Mass Effect style game and even included the ME conversation wheel method - which I do enjoy. The graphics are very nice and the locations are sprawling and detailed (almost like they're trying to rival Skyrim for open-world scope... which they can't, by the way). There is a lot more room to run around in, which is something I always wished for in the DA games, so this was a welcome change. The voice acting is also very good, if you can excuse the odd terrible one here and there (Sera - I'm looking at you!).

    Now the bad:

    * Like I say, they've tried to make DA more like Mass Effect and the result is that they've dummed down the game horribly. You now have what feels like very little control over anything compared to how it used to be. Maybe this was done to appeal to children who can't be bothered to work out what different stats do?
    * They messed up the strategic combat system. There is very little strategy to be had now. It has become more of a simple arcade hack 'n' slash, presumably to appeal more to children. Deeply disappointed with this.
    * No more tactical slots for your companions. Unless you choose to micro-manage their every move in battle by spamming the pause feature, you'll find they're largely a will unto themselves now and they will do the daftest things. For instance, your tank will break off from whatever they're tanking and come over to attack what you're attacking, even if you're just trying to pick off the smaller mobs. Ridiculous! I've found the only way around this is to play the tank yourself.
    * There is no healing magic anymore. Healing has become an exercise in constant potion spamming. Just horrible. The developers say this is to make fights more strategic but anyone who knows anything about RPGs knows that it has quite the opposite effect and also causes you to have to return to camp constantly to restock. I mean, is this even an RPG anymore?!
    * Far fewer talents and spells to choose from and you won't want to use most of them anyway.
    * Only 2 armour slots now (head and body) and most armours look identical.
    * You barely notice levelling up now because all you get each time is 1 skill point to assign. Thats it - no attribute points or anything. And you can only use 8 skills at a time, so you'll fill that requirement in no time.
    * You no longer have any control over the stats of any of your characters. Its all default now, so another RPG element lost.
    * Equipment is now totally class-specific.
    * Everyone in the game seems to be sex-obsessed, like the game was written by a horny 14-year-old.
    * The menu system is the most irritating I've ever seen in a game and gives you no useful information.
    * Crafting is a waste of time and very convoluted.

Basically they must have decided somewhere along the line that people don't like making decisions for themselves and would much rather the game made all those decisions for them. Then they thought as long as they made the game pretty no-one would care that its become tedious to play. Its like they took the game away from the people who knew what they were doing and gave it to the Mass Effect team who have no idea how to craft a deep RPG.

I will start out by saying the game is gorgeous. It has vibrant greens, and lots of it too. It really is appealing to the eyes. The soundtrack is also really good, better than Origins in my opinion. The framerate is steady, and I never experienced even a minor dip in frames in my 100 hours (I played on Xbox One). It also doesn't feel like an Action game that calls itself an RPG, where there's just RPG elements, but instead actually felt like an RPG with crafting, and customization. I picked the second hardest difficulty because I wanted the achievement, and I didn't want to suffer through Nightmare. This is the part where I destroy the game (I will be making comparisons to both Dragon Age games). Combat, to be completely honest, is a joke. DA:O was a slow, but challening with its combat where you feel like you were actually an outnumbered force of regular guys against a whole army even on normal difficulty. DA2 was fast, but was unchallenging even in the slightest. DAI is the worst of both combat systems: its slow and unchallenging. Its painfully slow. I like slow combat at times, but this is just ridiculous. I felt like I was playing an extremely grindy Korean MMO instead of an ARPG where the enemy health is just unbelievably high that it can take forever just kill a single enemy. The challenge is completely gone. I only had difficulty with one part in the entire 100 hour grindfest, and that was because it was just completely unfair where you were pitted against waves of enemies, and you're only allowed to carry 8 health potions at a time (and mages can't heal anymore), so you were kinda **** In Origins, you felt like every fight might've been your last because you never knew what could've happened. A dumb teammate could've stepped in a trap, and killed themselves instantly, a mage could've casted a fireball, and killed the whole party instantly, you never knew. But you always needed to be ready to adapt to have the tactical edge. Here you just charge in, and kill everybody REALLY SLOWLY. Its incredibly bland. The story isn't great either. At the beginning of the game, you're already made out to be the savior of mankind (which just throws out dramatic structure completely), the villain just comes out, and practically says "I'm the villain" and leaves to never be seen for another half of the game (which just throws out dramatic structure completely). There's also cameos from characters from previous games, and majority of the time, it feels really **** lazy. Allistair shows up after the end of a quest to say "So you're the Inquisitor, huh?" then leaves. Hawke shows up to help you on a quest, then leaves. Morrigan shows up in the last 40th of the game, then leaves. It legitimately felt like they were only there to remind you of how cool past games were, where they would flail their arms around and ask if you remember them. The open world is probably my biggest problem with this game. The areas are massive, and like I said before, pretty. But they feel empty. They literally feel like they're crafted just to hold X number of rifts, X number of gems, and a dragon. It would've been nice just to have NPCs around the map that you can actually interact with, but a majority of the time its just bad guys, rifts, gems, and a dragon. Dragon fights are cool though, for the first time anyway. Then they quickly become copy/paste of that first time in different environments with different elements, and they, like a majority of the game, become jokes. Side-quests...oh, side-quests. Question: Do you like fetch quests? How about fetch quests that are literally there with almost no context, or interaction? Sound like fun? No? Then you won't like side-quests in this game. The cast of characters in your Inquisition aren't even as good as Origins or 2's cast of characters. Yet people praise this game as the best Dragon Age yet. I don't see it. Not even a little bit. And the sad thing is that while there are some people who share my opinion, a large majority of players praise this game for all of my personal gripes with it which means I may never see a Dragon Age similar to Origins. The reason its not a 10 for is because the character models are not as good as they look on trailers which leads me to believe they used pc version... The graphics are also dumbed down quite allot! not what you would expect from the trailer. The combat mechanic is not that fun quite boring in my opinion. Overall its an OK rpg, nothing on the level of skyrim or fallout.

I've played around 40 hours of DA: Inquisition and I'm really enjoying the game. The plot is interesting, exploring is fun, and the combat can be challenging. I view this game as blending the best of Skyrim with the best of Dragon Age: Origins. You have large, open zones to wander through and explore which is a huge improvement over Dragon Age 2. At the same time, you have a group of interesting companions that banter back and forth while you're exploring. I never cared for my companion in Skyrim and I feel like BioWare was able to capture the adventure of a large, unexplored world while adding in companions that are interesting and I care about.

My only complaint is that they've mixed junk items in with useful items on the Valuables tab. This makes it difficult to tell which items you can safely sell as vendor trash and which items could be used for requisitions later.

They played through most of the game before writing their review, as opposed to the average fan who likely played for a few hours then decided to write their review. Understand most of the negative reviews are political. They sound like they are complaining about lack of story. But if you read it closely they are complaining about lack of LBGT relationships in the game. Which shows they didn't play the game, as you find a woman being attacked by some Templars in the first non tutorial zone. If you talk to her you find out her and her female lover were found and attacked by the Templars. Very early on you run into the anti established religion, pro pagan Bioware soap box. Rest assured Bioware's shameless reach for awards and it's "story" shoving LBGT lifestyles down your throat are still in tact and oddly more "out" then ever. I guess this is what happens when you review a game based on rumors before you have actually played it.

Many are probably disappointed from the serious learning curve. Like Skyrim it's first hour is basically a tutorial. Then to feel even more disorienting the second hour is essentially a base tutorial. If you ignore these "tutorials" you will miss important new aspects of the game and may feel the game has no real direction. It's only when you take the time at base to learn how to use these new systems and talk with companions that you will start feeling like your playing a DA game again. The basic controls for inventory, "political" powers and the map take a couple of hours before they feel natural.

You may also feel early the Mage is not what they used to be, as they replaced the healing system with a barrier system. Which will cut most DA fans to the core. Rest assured, It's still healing, but it gives everyone in it's radius an "extra" health bar for a limited amount of time. It seems weak at first, but can become extremely powerful when used properly. With Life Steal rings, potions (another new system to learn) and barriers you have healing more than covered.

Some complained about strategic game play not being there. But if you just hit the "start" button, it stops all action and you can chose what everyone in your group does. The barriers also need to be used correctly to be most effective. CC has limitations and one needs to know their strengths and weaknesses. I.E. Mages are usually immune to ice CC, but you can beat on those not immune, while they are frozen. The fire CC fears people but breaks if the target is hit. And if you use stop feature, the game won't feel like a barroom blitz.

Early on this game has been played non stop at my house. There are 4 of us taking turns playing our characters. All enjoy watching the other progress, as we learn new things watching others play. In the early stages, the game feels confused. But so did Skyrim when we first started. I suspect just like DAO, until you get your specializations you won't really get to love the game or it's characters. After wards this will be a cherished game you play over and over again. And the more I play the game, the more it seems actually limited by EA sticking too closely to the older limiting factors of DAO. Like it's zones and rails. But if the choices and story pan out, this should be another classic. But until I reach cap and replay it man times, I give it a 7.

One of my favorite things about this game has to be the world development. As you complete different quests, both primary and side-quests, you will see the world begin to change as a reflection of your choices. Running into new characters and choosing the correct dialogue options will grant your Inquisition with new agents. AI characters react to you based on decisions made previously.

The depth of the skill-tree isn't as robust as, say, Skyrim, however it is balanced perfectly so as to not feel overwhelming.

I originally purchased this game to tide me over until the release of Witcher 3 in February, however now I'm not so sure that I'll have gotten my fill of all that DA:I has to offer by then. This game is a must-buy for anyone who wants to get their money's worth of gameplay and enjoys exploring a grand world.

This game is more or less a shell of an MMO.

Things Bioware could do not make there rubbish MMO better:

    1. Allow players to place their strikes in strategic points of vulnerability. Ex. Head shots, leg shots, etc.
    2. Bring the camera closer to the character. I want to feel like I'm in the battle, not watching it from cliff side.
    3. Campaign co op. Why not? Your current multiplayer sucks.
    4. Make side quests more purposeful. Longer is you will. Not "go talk to this person for a potion then bring it back to me." How about " Go talk to that person. They dont have the crap to make it. So they send you into some deep cave to get the crap. QUALITY OF QUANTITY!

I could go on, and on about how to make this MMO style crap fest better, but i have other things to be doing.

They'll probably do like all the game manufacturers do today...pay the critics to rate their game high and release an unfinished product while patching it leaving the player that buys it first out in the cold by the time the patches complete the game. Another thing, why in the hell is sex SUCH a huge part of this game? I'm not talking about the sex scenes (which in fact were so glitched I didn't even get to see them) but the conversations with the NPCs...it's all about sex. What the F, have the devs never gotten laid or grow up for that matter? And the execs for okaying it are just as bad...a glitched, half baked graphical porn...congrats, guys. Anyway, back to the horrific game...the fight scenes are so mired in flashing lights and effects get ready to lose sight of your player throughout the game.

In short...was it lengthy, yes...I played over 140+ hours...out of those hours I would say a good 30-40% were just powering through the glitches. The main line story is okay (this is my first DA game) but for the person that never touched a DA, I was left confused....so much so, like many players have stated, I just powered through and stopped ready the story, any story line that didn't involve the main one (i.e. close the rift and kill the bad guy).

I suggest you either wait another couple months or don't play it religiously until they patch this crap fest (if they patch it AT ALL!)...and forget about the Multiplayer portion. It literally is based on Freemium...you cannot get gear or lvl fast enough without dropping your money (AGAIN) to purchase weapons and gear that will allow you to proceed further.

So if you like frustration, preaching sexual identity crap and glitches, this game is for you! If not, stay very clear of this game. Because in short, this game is not innovated but just Assassins Creed with a different skin on it.

I'm not sure what people are complaining about. Fantastic game.

it´s not a perfect game and im pretty sure it´s a desapointing game for many people, the thruth is, that Bioware sold their soul the the devil (EA) and their only goal it´s to sell, not create a revolutionary videogames but to sell more copies....
In their trailers they make me belive this game was going to be a true defining point for next-gen games and it´s not.
There´s no point on giving a lot of empty-worth for nothing-space on a game, it is an open world but, the world itself, doesn´t feels alive as it should be, enemies respawn minutes after you killed them, wich makes walking trough the area not as fun as it should be, the storyline it´s not that great, i tought that becoming the inquisitor meant something more than just taking desicions like *he should live-he should die* where´s all the power that represents becoming the inquisitor?, there are no jaw dropping moments like in dragon age: origins, where evrething could happen, the lack of cutomization in character creation is so awful, so....simple, the unfair customization of the skyhold, where the options are many but yet, it makes no difference at all!!!, the mounts sistem is so dull, why would you not put a fighting option on the mount!? Skyrim did it, The witcher 3 will, why not in Dragon age? there are several tipes of mount where probably the collest ones will be for DLC.
But not everithing is bad, there´s also a lot of good things.
1.-The companions are unique and interesting, the relationship you take with each one is very special, their side quests are very interesting, some are fun and others very simple, but fun.
2.-The graphics are outstanding, some places are beatiful just to see, like the Winter Palace in Orlais, or the Fade! that gives you the felling of and unknown world and mysteries whithin.
3.-The battles agains the dragons are bad-ass!
4.-The whole fighting sistem is actually good, not revolutionary but neither bad.
5.-i said before that the story leaves much to be desired, but at least allows you to replay the game several times so you can do all the things you didn´t do before.

Conclusión: it´s a must play game and it deserves to be recognized as a good game, a game we have been waiting for, and now, it´s here.Let´s hope that in the future game developers starts realising that they are not just selling "games", they are creating worlds, and this worlds have a need to feel alive, they are giving life to caracters that we learn to love and cherish and when a company relise that, they will create the ultimate RPG gaming expirience for sure.

I got to say, I've been yearning for a Skyrim on my Xbox One since it launched. The scope, scale, and depth of that game was amazing on the 360. It took a year, but I finally found what I was sorely missing.

This game is amazing. I loved Origins on the 360, and this game is what should have been the sequel to Origins. The world is vivid, full of lore, and is really fun to explore.

This game is amazing. I loved Origins on the 360, and this game is what should have been the sequel to Origins. The world is vivid, full of lore, and is really fun to explore. I am still amazed that even during the cut scenes, my character shows full customization. The skin color, face shape, eye color, tattoos, everything is there.

The first area that you can roam in is massive. I've been playing this since last Friday through EA Access and I still haven't done everything you can do. Glitches are minimum. I had it drop back to the dashboard just one time and I haven't experienced any other type of weirdness.

    The pros:

    Massive regions
Deep and rich lore, and books are not nearly as repetitive like was found in skyrim. I have yet to find the same book.
    Lots of stuff to do
Crafting, you can craft, and mine for resources. Almost to much.
NPC's are interesting, and I'm actually starting to care about what they think.

    Cons:

It's not totally glitch free. Sometimes you can back yourself so far away that ranged combat doesn't render well.
Speaking of combat, the freeze combat is nice to add in, but it's overly complicated.
I love being able to pickup all sorts of items, but the crafting system is way out of whack. I'm constantly pulling elf root just to make sure I always have enough. You can never get enough elf root.
The voice acting is bland, but still better then Peter Dinklage in Destiny.
It's way to easy to get distracted, but that is an issue most games like this suffer from.

In all, it's a great game. If you loved Origins, than this is a must buy. If you loved Skyrim, than this is also a must buy for the One. I have played this game for over 6 hours, and barely scratched the surface. It has yet to feel boring. Combat could use some fine tuning, and there are some minor issues in combat animations that need fixed. This is one of the few games that I feel like I'm not a beta tester. Bioware did an excellent job and I really look forward to loosing all my free time to it.

The game is good, and certainly some of the best that XOne and RPG's of Next Gen have to offer.
The Story is nice and the constantly changing world is amazing!

So watch out for all those haters and fanboys and their reviews specially those who start lik2 "I'm a big DA fan....", i've seen some of them do the same post in every single console review... Also, the game just got out, how can you make a full and truly review about the game, i've only played it for 5 hours... so this review its not completely valid! As in know my experience is amazing and i got what i was expecting for. So don't play 30 hours of the game and give it a 0, surely you had some fun.

For me the downside is the amount of space... too much. Anyway I loved and i was looking forward for this game since it was announced and i was certainly looking for this DA experience, all the lore, the world everything.

The Inquisition the perfect game for me. Flawless in every way. I had so much fun that after about an hour of game play, I stopped and started over again just to experience it again!!

The graphics and voice acting are mind blowing!! After working about 2 hours to get the PERFECT look for my character, it was so cool to see him come to life with expressions and a VOICE!!! It makes me feel much more invested in my character.

I LOVE the outfits & gear!! If my STARTING gear looks this good, I can only imagine what the other gear will look like.

The LORE... OMG.. the Tapestry is friggen genius! While a bit of a pain to figure out (I'm not the smartest guy on the block) it was well worth the effort to get it up and going. The experience of picking up and reading lore, or to hear characters mention some of the details that I just completed in DAO and DA2 is sooooooo awesome!

My inquisition is like sipping a glass of Carménère... I take my time, savor each experience... read the lore along the way, check in with my friends on the Dragon Age Fb Page, read and verify interesting facts via the DA Wiki, etc.... all of this to expand my understanding of the lore. This allows me to leveraging my knowledge to create solid well planned choices along my journey.

I am totally immersed in the story. Everything has a purpose. I don't feel like I'm doing mindless "Hunt and Fetch" quests.

The took the BEST from each of the preceding games and expansions and infused it into a beautiful tapestry of fun and imagination.

I'm 20 hours into the game and it's fantastic. Everything you would want in an RPG is here. It's also all very solid, well done, and fully realized. It really seems as if Bioware was determined not to make any part of it half-assed at all. Also, to allow the player to do everything how he or she wants to.

Don't mind the people giving this game a 0. SOME might have actually played some of it but, they are probably shallow, simple-minded gamers who just can't handle a game of complexity. They probably can't handle very much reading either. I guess if instead it was a children's pop-up book or something they would enjoy it.

Superb writing with a story that is engrossing graphics are what next gen promised. Love the open world feel, not sure why there is so much hate. This is exactly what the player base was asking for. I for one applaud Bioware for an excellent well thought out epic adventure that will continue to play for months to come.

I'm as enthralled as I was the first two days in Skyrim. The big test will come in how long I play this and how many times I restart a new game. It will be very hard to beat Skyrim but Bioware may have just given me the game to do so.
Will update rating and review months later when the 'newness' wares off and the true value of the game emerges.
UPDATE: Still a good game, however ... I can honestly say that DA:I is definitely NOT as good overall as Skyrim. I think Bioware wasted dev time trying to get the player to "feel" for their character/team mates but the emotion/relationship piece is really just an annoyance. After a month+, I'm actually dropping my score by two points and firing up Skyrim again instead.

Some small bugs here and there, but nothing close to game breaking. The atmosphere in this game is amazing and I found myself completely immersed after a few hours of playing. I haven't felt as immersed in a game since Dark Souls. Everyone who enjoys a good RPG should **** get this game.

I liked my character, a big hulking male Qunari with a two handed axe. But the stock characters where pretty dull. Sera was one of the most interesting, just due to the mad things she would say for no reason. But the rest, talking to them was more like pulling teeth than progressing the story along (which is weak to say the least). The war room, was next to pointless. You didn't actually formulate any sort of strategy, just certain missions became unlocked as you progressed as well as overall skill boosts. The Inquistors throne, for making those life and death decisions, was a good feature but totally under utilised.

Some of the main missions were more of a bind than enjoyable, with one having a sort of time limited investigation sequence that was just out of character with the rest of the game. Most are pretty much the same, standard RPG type quests. Get this, find that, kill that, lots of side missions that ultimately seem to end up making no overall difference. Just there to fill in some time between the main story.

Combat was alright, but just senseless MMO type button mash. Perhaps some people will delve into the tactical side of things in more depth. But I just pressed buttons in a type of sequence and waited for skills to cool down. Combat is a bit hit .... and a lot of... miss. If an enemy is under the effect of something else, damage seems to be almost queued. Meaning the fight can end and the bad guy it still waiting to die after been swamped with damage. Other times your actions seem to have no effect, apart from hitting thin air. Some fights with dragons were annoying more than invigorating. Battle a dragon for a considerable time, only for it to be on it's last legs and call reinforcements. AI was capable but limited, squad had an aversion to healing and being healed. Didn't help team mates. Things like a healing mist which could heal your whole party, you would find one of your party decides to move out of the area of effect. For no reason, just wanders off at the crucial moment. AI Healer in the party was next to useless. Which sort of screwed up the party dynamic.

Didn't play on-line, not something that interests me in this type of game unless the game is a fully fledged MMO.

The ending was an anti-climax. Which let down the game as a whole. It needed a twist, something epic to happen at the end and it didn't. There was an event within my timeline at the end, but I just wasn't bothered at this point.

I have heard a lot of mention of this game and Skyrim in the same breath. The only similarity I found was they were the same type of genre. That was where the similarities end. Skyrim is an immersive game that pulls you in different directions, absorbs you into a game world. This game is a lot of bits of game world bolted together, to show how the developers can do different types of terrain. With no real world connection going on. Almost episodic in nature.

As a person that likes the story and exploration, more than combat and skills trees etc. I just found it weak on both fronts. The odd time it was engaging, but quickly brought you back to earth with slow load screens and a multitude of bugs. There were no game breaking bugs that I came across but the overall quality was poor, as if it had either not been tested or they just ignored the bugs. Seems to be a pattern with games released by EA, quality has just gone out of the window.

I didn't feel any love in this game at all. It comes across as a chore. The character actors did their part mostly to a good standard. The story was quite lame and generic in the sense of good guy/bad guy scenario. Didn't feel any decision mattered to the overall scheme of things. And what you have is a patchwork of game worlds stitched together to make it seem like a big game to rival the likes of Skyrim. When in fact all it does is make you yearn for another game like Skyrim to come along.

I would play this game because it's not the worse. But I don't seen any replay value and unless you want to do every side quest, the game is quite short. The side quests are not varied enough to make things interesting. In essence it actually feels cluttered, with a lot of stuff added because they felt it should be added as a standard but made little sense. Like crafting, spend time making something like a weapon with attachments only to find store bought had better stats. None of which seemed to have much impact.

Overall a disappointing game to end a disappointing year in gaming.

The game immediately puts you in the action with a great story and from the word go. I was also impressed with the fact that you can pretty much travel where you like straight away, and believe me the map is absolutely HUGE! the game still be brilliant with just the main story but its worth noting that the amount of side quests that you can get involved with gives this game ENDLESS longitivity. You really can get lost in this game.

The DAI world itself is truly stunning. I regularly found myself stopping half way through a journey across the world just to stop what I was doing and look around at this impressive environment. It really is that visually impressive.

The only negative that I can really see, (if im being picky) Is that there are a few flaws in the combat system that ultimately can take a little away from your experience. The tactical mode to be specific doesn't allow for the camera to move very far away meaning you still need to be quite close to enemies to pause time and plan tactical attacks. That being said, Combat is still generally very satisfying and as you progress through the game and unlock more skills and power, it gets better and better.

Summary: This game pushes RPG games back to the top of the industry where they belong. With scope for 200+ hours of gameplay and a stunning and truly immersive world that can suck you into it, Dragon Age Inquisition would be my personal choice for Game of the Year 2014.
    Go and buy it!

The game is both easy to learn and somewhat difficult to master (a key component to a classic title) and doesn't force you to exclusively stick to the character you create to play through the game's reasonably-lengthy story. Like Skyrim, you could probably push through the core story items within a few days of play. But doing so will only make your late-game efforts more difficult and void of the depth Inquisition has to offer. An easy recommendation for anyone that enjoys RPGs and has been yearning for something to fill that Elder Scrolls-shaped hole in the heart. Expand

On the other hand, there are issues. When a new area loads that is filled with people, after you have loaded in NPCs will randomly fall from the sky and pop in, as if the game didn't finish loading. Also, at times enemies will randomly jump and fall down from the sky as well; I was facing a giant, or at least attempted to, and the enemy literally jumped and disappeared. I also attacked another and after hitting it, it flew away and got stuck in a tree. The bugs are kinda crazy, albeit funny at times. Also, voice animations sometimes cease completely. Many times, I was in the middle of a conversation and out of nowhere, my character's voice stops and mouths move, relying upon captions to fill me in. Bioware needs to address these bugs in an update, and once accomplished I believe the game can be a solid 8. No perfect 10, but a good solid 8. DA Inquisition will certainly hold me over into 2015.

EDIT: Also the game randomly quits itself. Before I gave this game a 7 but because of this MAJOR BUG and the bugs I mentioned earlier I have to give it a 5 until they are fixed.

For those who had loved Origins, and as i had, been deeply disappointed by DA2 to the point of dropping the title, Inquisition for me was something i was iffy about at first, but after playing it, Inquisition is truly one of Biowares masterpieces.

    Story:
The primary reason i'd assume you'd have bought the game- and to some it may have been slow or others have said boring, but it goes to who you are as a gamer. DAI excels into creating a immersive and well articulated and detailed world. It highlights and contrasts the cultures of the people across the world know as Thedas. The main story isnt perfect though, as the idea they adversized was closing the hole in the sky that was spewing demons. Despite that, it fell short in owning up to that, where you simply complete a portion of the story and anticlimactically finish it. Despite that, the aftermath and the second arc are fantastic into bringing you into the ranks of the army you command and getting to know your comrades and your army. The story features both dark and humorous undertones, which is icing on top of the strong foundation.
    8/10

    Sound:
The sound of the game also flies beyond what you'd expect- the french accented orleisians to the more flat dialect of the fereldans. Every map has its unique ambiance, from frozen tundras to barren deserts. Voice acting is lively and each perfectly fits each character.
    9/10

    Graphics/world:
Of the most obvious things in the game is the emphasis upon the aesthetics, the painstaking detail put into designing the world you see- going from every extreme of winter tundras, grasslands, emerald green forests, putrid battle fields, and ornate cities. The level of work put into it is incredible and in itself a piece of artwork. It in no way is meant to compensate for lacking parts of the game as others titles have done, and instead, like sound, helps to immerse you into the world created. Despite that, there are a few flaws, such as the enemies contorting in weird ways upon death, or the Skyhaven objects flickering when entering the room. Not flawless, but still the cutting edge in the game industry.
    9/10

    Mechanics:
The games gear box basically- everything the game does, it does it without flaws and with a streamlined finesse. There is no problem with the control or system. It allows you design a pallet of abilities that you can put into that characters strategy. It has no issues, but it does lack some of the deeper elements that where well regarded in Origins such as the tactics and situational planning you could program into your characters, which inquisitions doesnt have. I had found that strategy was in a sense, numbed in terms of playability due to the lack of specific situational programming i had mentioned. So without any flaws but not excelling over what the series had done in the past it warrants an 8.

    8/10

    Overall:

    9/10

Definitely something to buy if you have the time in invest into a quality playthrough. Everything about the game welcomes you to become a part of it and you will know that for the price, you got well above the bang for your buck.

The only complaint I have is the usual sandbox game; too much go and play fetch. It could have been replaced with more random caves/dungeons/etc... that would have made this game perfect. But we'll see how all the free DLC adds to the game.

Bioware has shifted its typical point, press, watch combat system to a hybrid version that feels more responsive, but still retains a system that players are used to. Instead of pressing a button and watching a combo, now the trigger button is held and it feels like the player is doing more. If ever in a tight situation, combat can be quickly ended and allow the player to gain better position to drink a potion. I felt there is more control in Inquisition than any other version.

Combat: This game feels more like an Action RPG than a RPG. In terms of action rpg, the player still does not have to aim, can't block or dodge manually, or press buttons in a certain combination for things to happen. However, spells can be casted very fluidly and creating unique combos mid combo is fulfilling and fun. The spell system at first is very easy to use when there are only 3 spells to choose from. Once you have more than 3, you must push a button to bring up the second set of mappings which is a bit clunky and defeats the purpose of quick combat. A more effective way for spells would be similar to Mass Effects system of bringing up the menu as the world around you moves very slow or doesn't move at all. This would allow the player to feel more free to have multiple spells. I found the best way to play was build out 3 and use those effectively. However that is the only gripe I have. The knockback, fancy animations, and sound effects make for a very pleasing experience as an archer, mage, or tank. Just hold down the trigger and wreak havoc.

Strategy: If you level up enough, you can breeze through the game with just your might and not a whole lot of thinking. That's until you reach a few of the boss battles. I'm not sure if the bosses are programmed to have a higher level than the player, but each boss had a higher level than me. For these skirmishes or battles, strategy is required. I remember one very fulfilling experience where I died about four times to a boss and could not figure out what to do. I then started running around my environment where I found an open gate, a choke point. After I picked off a few enemies early in the battle (as an archer) I ran away from the battle and commanded my party to follow. I then positioned them just beyond the open gate. As soon as the enemies (along with the boss) arrived at the gates, I commanded the party to unleash hell. It was still a hard fought battle and I barely won, which made it feel necessary to do that. It's rare to play a game where real life tactics work. I learned this tactic from the movie 300.

Inventory: Like most Bioware games, there are tons of items to pickup. The descriptions are not overly complicated and the inventory system is simple to understand which is good for a game that has tons of inventory options. As the game goes on items acquired increase in power at a good pace. I had a good grasp on a good and bad defense level, and when I picked up or crafted an item that jumped at an irregular level, I felt I got lucky or was cheating the game. This is by design though, and it felt great to craft items that seemed to outpace the equipment my enemies had. There are color coded items that signify if they are rare, ultra rare, etc. that make you feel special for crafting or acquiring these off of difficult enemies.

    Leadership

As the inquisitor, you are called to lead. Most games put the player in the position to overtake the ruler, but then that's it. I've never played a game that allowed me to have this much influence as a leader before and it felt great. There are choices made that directly effect the world. You can choose who and what to attack, who to send on recon missions, and can build the empire however you please. Along with character progression, you also have the progression of the fortress. There are side quests that can be done that will directly effect how well your defenses are and how powerful your units will be. I don't want to spoil any choices made...so I'm going to leave it at that.

    Conclusion

A must buy. You can easily put 100 hours into this game. I put 60 myself, and that is very long for me. If it weren't for other games coming out, I'd still be playing it. I just have a poor attention span. Combining the new combat system, strong inventory/item system, and the ability to shape the world with leadership, there isn't a game like this I've ever played. The cinematics and deep dialogue can occupy anyone for hours and immerse you into the world. When you get that involved in a virtual place, and have such an ability to shape it, there is something experienced in a fake place you just can't get in the real world.

It's graphically quite beautiful, and the exploration plus both forms of combat really open the game up. I like using both combat systems, and while the level designs were lacking on DA:2, I was one of the people that loved that game (so you know where I'm coming from), mostly because the combat for playing a rogue was much improved upon Origins' terrible AI movement.

I was actually surprised by how quickly the story and motivations pulled me into this game. I shouldn't have been; BioWare is fantastic when it comes to characterization and story. Regardless, this game achieves one of those very hard things to do that so many other games I play fail at: it makes me forget I'm playing a game. I'm so absorbed in every aspect of it. It's completely engrossing, and transports me into the world of Thedas. This is, quite frankly, an RPG after my own heart. It's easily the best installment in the Dragon Age franchise, and one I'm far more likely to replay for that very same reason.

If you are an RPG fan, you owe it to yourself to give this game a real shot. I honestly can't believe why there are so many negative user reviews. People are too angry and bitter and their venom shows. 0/10? Really? That is not an honest assessment.

Inquisition easily makes it into my top three RPG video games of all time, and for that reason I'm confident to give it 10/10. Not to 'balance the negative reviews', and not to say that any game is ever truly perfect (there's always room for improvement), but because it delivers in spades everything I love about RPG games and rich storytelling.

Negate the hate! Do what you love.

You will find you are mid fight when all of the sudden wolves just happen to wonder in and of course only attack your people. Kill the wolves and suddenly 3 more walk in. When you are fighting the mobs have a warp skill which makes it impossible to get to them as they warp up cliff walls which you cannot scale. Want to fight one mob at a time or scout a cave don't expect your people to hold position because they autowarp on top of you if you go too far, if was real world I would say 100ft.

For some reason everywhere you walk there is a mountain on each side of you and always blocking the way you want to go. There will be mountains you can sorta climb but you have to use a cheap way to do it, you climb up as high as you can go and your followers will warp on top of you so you switch to one of them and your main will warp up. It's a good throwback to the days of KotOR. So far, all these negative reviews are just stupid nitpicks or completely misunderstanding of the genre and legacy of the Dragon Age world.

I gotta say that im at awe about some, if not, most of the reviews about this game. People are saying that the graphics are garbage, the voice acting is aweful, and the story is not the compelling. They must be blind and deaf to say such things.

Now i will say that the story, compared to Origins, isnt the best, but it is way better than DA2s story. It might be because of the writing, but it felt that this story didnt have that much of a dangerous road, just seal the rift and you're done. The world didnt feel like it was danger but you could say the same thing about Dragon age origins.

My father got the xbox 360 version of the game while i got the xbox 1 version, and comparing the two, you can see the huge lack of details that had to be cut to make the 360 version compatable. So for those complaining about the graphics, you must be refering to the 360 version, but the 360 version is not that bad graphic rise. The new gene and pc ports however look very stunning, and im quite impressed with everything they put into it.

The voice acting is quite good. I mean for those complaining must be listening to a different game all together. I mean the original voice actors for Alistair, Leliana, Varric, Cassandra, and Morrigan make there return and if people didnt complain about them then, why now? They sound the same. And the voice actor for james vega is in it as well and most people liked his voice acting so why hate now? And they even went out of their way to supply you with two voice actors for the inquisitor, odds are you will like one of them.

Now i will say this, the sidequests do feel very bland. I mean in the other Dragon age games, you had these side quests that had a somewhat compelling story. In this game however, it didnt feel that way. It was, you find a ring for a woman and return it, or you open a chest. Even then you couldnt make the choice to sell the ring or keep it for yourself. The other games did allow you to make some sort of choice witht these side quests that could add to your character, but it was lacking in this game.

However, the choices in this game, i mean main decisions btw, it did feel like you were changing the fate of thedas. From who rules orlais, to who you get it on with, it felt like you were making a difference. And yes for those wondering, the keep does work and your decisions do carry over. Both of my love interests in the other games were mentioned in some way and my warden was continuing her story as well, which proves that she was still alive.

Dont worry about the ending. It is not a complete and utter disappointment like it was for ME3. you get a solid ending that does and doesnt feel like a sequel bait. If i had to guess, it will continue as some sort of DLC in the future.

Combat wise, it felt descent enough i suppose. It wasnt a button mash like in DA2, but instead more of a "hold a button to win" . The tactical game wasnt all that helpful for me so i didnt really use it all that much, it may be better on the PC but i wouldnt know. But the combat did do its part and it didt really feel all that boring to me.

On launch day, it did have many glitches from sound technical difficulties to clipping issues, but it has had some patches over the days which has fixed alot of these problems.

So all in all, if you are a RPG fan then i highly recommend you to get this game. So thats it for this review and i will catch you fine people later.

A HUGE improvement on dragon age 2. To the people giving it 0 reviews and saying the combat is hack n slash style, try increasing the difficulty. At higher difficulties the tactical view becomes far more important and useful. At lower difficulties you only need to use the tactical view for harder boss type fights.

The game does a great job of presenting a massive amount of content

The game does a great job of presenting a massive amount of content without overwhelming the player and allows you to progress the main story and alter the main world while doing different side quests or zones.

I would have rated this a 9 except I sometimes hit a bug where the conversations wheel appears but I cannot select anything and it won't go away until I run far enough away from the NPC. Happens often enough to be irritating. Other than that I have had no other technical issues though and it isn't really game impacting.

Graphics are incredibly outdated. Story line lacks appeal. Feels like a step back for Bioware. It lacks the smoothness of other Dragon Age adventures and I was not drawn into the game like before.

I bought it, played it for an hour, sold it back. The combat system is awful, like overly complicated and not fun. and the cut scenes are unrealistic. Characters look like mannequins talking. Controlling a party of random characters instead of just the character you created feels... impersonal.
Don't buy this if you think it will be like a next gen Skyrim. It isn't.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the Dragon Age sequel that fans of the franchise have been waiting on. It is Bioware's declaration that they are back and better than ever. If there was one word to describe this game, it would be MASSIVE. There is so much content packed into this title that I doubt the completionist in me will ever find peace.

The environments are all beautifully rendered with 10 different enormous sandboxes to explore, each very different from one another. They all seem like their own worlds instead of parts of a larger one. Fast travel is thankfully included, but often I would walk or ride just to enjoy the journey and go exploring. The score is beautifully done and helps set the mood for each of the game's epic moments. One song in particular, The Dawn will come, will stay with you for a very long time.

The party members in Inquisition are all well voiced and have their own unique charm. There may be too many of them tho as party selection was always difficult for me. The way they play off on one another is always entertaining and it seems they have their own lives and friendships going on when I'm not around.

The gameplay is standard rpg fare and the return of the tactical camera is a welcome addition when playing on the harder difficulties. You will never lack for a challenge in this game, especially against the 10 optional dragon bosses.

DA: Inquisition is a must play for all rpg fans and will have you entertained for a long long time.

Well I just want people to know that they should not rate a game until they finish it. Or at the very least play a significant portion of the game. These days on metacritic I just use critic reviews not player now. Also the site should now use a median not average to rate the player reviews. Expand

I'm a huge fan of the dragon age series and Inquisition doesn't disappoint. I'm not sure why there is so much negativity given to this game. It brings back some elements similar (but not exactly) to Origins, so it's not so hack n slash like in DA2. The Maps are enormous, and there is so much to do (120 hours in and im estimating about another 25-30 to go). n a word; AWESOME. If you are 1 of the 117 people on this site that rated this game negatively (NEGATIVELY??!!), I am not sure what your real issue is, but suffice to say, you are an idiot. Reasonable people can debate if this game is merely a very good RPG or one of the best all time, but in no sane judgement is this game anything but very good.

Other than the ME series and RDR there

Other than the ME series and RDR there no other games that are materially better. Truth be told, in many respects this game is better than them from a scope standpoint, but full immersion, for me, was impossible because of the not so subtle gay politics that Bioware champions. It literally permeates the game and makes the social aspect a joke (more than 1/2 the characters are gay and none of the women, romanceable or otherwise, are attractive), Look we get it, some people really high up at Bioware are gay....so what? Don't push your politics on the other 99%. Your ME series walked the line between your message and the rest of the world rather well.

Now, as to the game....WOW.....the world is huge...larger than Skyrim and much more diverse from environment to enemies; although the towns are far less dynamic than Skyrim. Overall I spent about 50% more time in DA:I (150 hours) than in Skyrim....and all within 1 story, whereas in Skyrim, that was 5 or 6 different stories. This should be the model for open=world going forward....or at least a step in the right direction.

GOTY hands-down. I still have FC4 up next, but this was the best game I have played in over 2 years. Bioware, if you get some of your internal issues dealt with, you might actually contend with Bethesda as the best in the business.

Dragon Age: Inquisition represents a glorious return to form for the series, with its huge world to explore, great cast of characters, and immensely satisfying combat and character progression. Despite its flaws, this is easily a contender for RPG of the year, and a must-have for most any gamer.

With Dragon Age Inquisition, BioWare returns in a great shape with a game that goes on for dozens and dozens of hours.
