Devious Dungeon is a medieval focused action platformer with RPG style upgrades. The levels are called portals. Each level is randomly generated and is pretty easy to navigate through. Hidden rooms are not hard to find but will give you extra XP. After three levels, you'll run into a checkpoint to buy upgrades or heal up. As you progress, you'll run into stronger creatures that hit harder. Some of them are just re-skins of previous monsters so just treat them as roid versions of the previous monsters. After unlocking four portals, unlock the boss stage. Each boss has their own unique mechanic that is easy to figure out.

Overall: My only complaint is that the maps feel like the same thing but using different textures. Either than that, I have zero complaints. I enjoy that I can use a controller instead of a keyboard. I grew up playing platformers on the console so I felt more at home with that option. It's a fun and simple platformer and a great time killer. The graphics are simple and pleasing to the eye. You don't really need a whole lot to make a fun game.

If you’re looking to pick up a small indie game that you can sink five or six hours in to without a great deal of difficulty, then this is the game for you. If you’re expecting more, you may be left disappointed.

If you’re on the market for a simple rogue-lite that doesn’t demand too much focus and perseverance, Devious Dungeon will serve you well. If, on the other hand, you enjoy the intricacies that this type of game is usually known to adopt, you’re likely going to feel somewhat disappointed. Devious Dungeon is a passable game at best, but one that’s admittedly fun nonetheless.
