Since 6.5 is not an option, I’m going to give Cyberpunk 2077 a gracious 7. This rating is me completely ignoring all the bugs and flat out game crashing I’m enduring. I pre ordered the game thinking that this game was going to be a “10/10” I’m extremely disappointed, I find myself getting bored after two hours of gameplay. I haven’t been this excited for a game, ever. And I think Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a decent grading from me because I don’t have any other games to finish at the moment.

Even if the game were to hypothetically “fix” itself with patches, the storyline and character build is not enticing enough to revisit a second time. Though I wish CDPR all the success. I don’t want to hop on a cancel culture train, but this game is simply not all it was made to be.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. well, lvl 44 now so played a fair bit. It is engaging, the main storyline is pretty cool. The interplay with Johnny is cool. Night City is pretty extensive and you can spend a lot of time cruising around. There are some obviously flaws - random crashes, don't go into the settings menu (you can't get out!), I'm not sure if it's cos i'm late in the game but i can't find any crafting recipes any more to craft top tier gear. I do have legendary's etc but they are getting old.
Once you get a decent suite of quickhacks - combat is pretty easy - you can snipe bads from a long distance and they never touch you. Took me a while to find out that melee weapons were pretty good though (pretty powerful too). Levelling up is a slow process so each level is pretty powerful - the skill trees are well designed and make you think hard about where to spend your points.
I've done a couple endings now and there isn't really anything else left to do in the game - other than random side street encounters which aren't very interesting. I do like how some of the side quest chains continue at random times (not sure what the trigger is here) which keeps some side threads going nicely though i think I've run out of those too.
Over all its an ambitious outing and i hope they can tidy it up and add some more longevity to it.
Well worth a look if you like the genre.
(pity you can't get yourself an AV!?)
Playing on an Xbox One X - which runs fine for the most part.

game is phenomenal but boy oh boy does it not run. seriously it runs at like 720-480p at 20 fps. Ive seen mobile games with higher resolution than this. aside from that its a easy 10/10 which is shame since the game dosen't work. still not as bad as fallout 4 and 76 tho lmao.

There is soooooooo much to do in this game and the story is really good and the graphics are fantastic but those points are only a minor part of the story. From the moment I boot up the game I get bombarded with minor irritating glitches all the way up to game breaking crashes. In my around ten hours of playtime I have experienced these issues, among others! Falling through the ground under the map, rubberbanding, rendering not able to keep up with itself while driving. Everytime I move from one room to another I have 5-10 people popping up from delayed rendering. I also have buttons not recognizing they were pushed, sound skipping and repeating, and multiple full game crashes! With this huge list of problems with the game I still give it a 7 because everything else besides those issues is a flawless game that tries a lot of new things I just really wish even half the glitches weren't there because the game itself has me hooked!!

Assassin's Creed Unity would like its glitches and bugs back. Honestly I adore CDPR but this is a disappointment my friends. Note that I am only about 5 hours in. There is room to improve the state of this game but it should not have released as it is by any measure.

Remember when everyone was comparing Fallout 4 at release to the Witcher 3 after nearly a year of updates? It has come full circle. It plays like a generic Ubisoft open world game and without a third-person option/toggle it's hard to get a sense of who you are in the world. I rarely felt like I was in a role-playing game, just a shooter with extra steps. The character creator was (not that it mattered) easy to make a mistake in and there is no way to correct it. It was also a far cry from what was shown in the trailer. The story was...okay, usualy only offering you two options and only rarely multiple dynamic pathways. If you like romance stories, CDPR really over sold those. The combat is often fun for a first-person shooter but nothing that stands out from what else everyone is already playing. Maybe if they fix enough of the bugs the game will be alright. Expand

The game is quite buggy *(Updates seem to be making improvements), however the core game is really good. Were it not for the bugs I would rate it 8.5-9.5 (I have other qualms but that is true of any game). However, you cannot deny the bugs are there and annoying. That said, I still enjoy the game, so slightly above neutral seems appropriate.

Where No Man's Sky failed to deliver

Where No Man's Sky failed to deliver fundamental aspects of their game as promised, and Andromeda was buggy with content that was not very compelling or deep. This is more akin to Fallout 3 or 4, where there are many bugs, but the game is engaging, immersive, and has fantastic depth of story, characters, and universe (probably more than Fallout 4). Do I think this is an acceptable state for a game to be released in? No. But I am also not going to say we should abandon hope for it yet.

I recommend you buy this game on PC. However, if you want to buy the game on a console (or already own it) you could wait for the next generation release, or the game to have its bug fixed.

That said, if the game is still of interest and if you can be patient and navigate the bugs, Right now the game is largely playable (on Xbox One S or X), and some of the bugs will give you a laugh.

The gameplay systems are very deep and diverse, the story is great and Night City is extremely dense. Cyberpunk 2077 is very ambitious and achieves a lot of what CDPR wanted for this game. However, that doesn't mean the game is without its shortcomings.

Firstly, the performance on base Xbox One (and One X to a degree) is just not acceptable at all. I understand developing for multiple platforms is extremely difficult & trying to finish a game during a global pandemic would hinder production, but if the game was not ready on consoles it never should have been sold for those platforms. You should always want to do right by your customers.

Secondly, this game isn't as "RPG" as I had hoped. The game opens up with an extremely deep character customization screen allowing you to handcraft your own "V". However, the amount of control you have over your V from a narrative level is extremely slim. As you progress further into the game you soon realize your "V" is not actually yours but rather a "V" that just so happens to look like you. This is a huge missed opportunity similar to the way the game handles its extremely disappointing Life Path mechanic. Gameplay-wise this is as RPG as it gets but you begin to wonder if it should truly qualify as an RPG narratively.

Finally, there is a severe lack of polish that just takes away from the experience. I am usually very liberal on bugs, but I encountered numerous issues from constantly clipping into walls, T posing NPCs, NPC's teleporting into the road & getting in trouble for hitting them, quests not registering, enemy ai randomly dying as they charge towards me, and extremely poor AI programming across the board. However, what ruins immersion the most is the fact that the NCPD teleport into a crime scene and start blasting anything on sight.

There is A LOT to like about Cyberpunk 2077, but I can't help but feel like the game is just unfinished. I feel like this game needed at least another year in the oven before being out for people to spend their hard-earned money on it. In its current state, I give Cyberpunk a decent 7. A great effort from CDPR. Ps DO NOT BUY ON BASE XBOX ONE OR PS4

I look forward to the patches to fix the minor blemishes that I've experienced, but I certainly don't regret the purchase. It's a game with flaws that was severely overhyped and like others, I fell for it. But looking at what it is and not what it was supposed to be, it's a good game. I want to report I've only played this on the 2 xbox systems as mentioned. So far I've has zero crashes and few to no bugs. I will however note that HDR is terrible on this game and absolutely broken. The colors are all but drained from the game and it looks totally washed out on my 4k display. I don't have junk tv either im playing on Sony x930c and a Panasonic Zt60 plasma. So that my main configuration is on a series X on a 1080p display.

I have to first start out by mentioning that this is absolutely the most beautiful open world game i've played. The lighting in the game and reflections are night are stunning. The 60fps under performance mode on the Series X is the absolute best way to play on console bar none. I've had little to no frame rate drops or hitches in performance. The texture work is crystal clear too. In most games NPC look a whole tear down in quality vs the main characters but, this isnt the case here. The graphics really do show an evolutional step to a new generation. This however is at the expense that base console probably shouldn't have even been released.

The music is totally rad. I'm loving all of it and the only complaint I have is that its not on enough in missions.

The skill tree and leveling system is good but it is in no way unique or special. In fact this game is such a rip off of Deus EX I cant believe no one is pointing it out. If you liked Deus HR or MD you'll like this too even if its not nearly as good and is a blatant rip off.

Cyberpunk isnt this massive revolutionary game it was toted up to be and will probably let people down based on hype and expectations alone. However there is a solid open world game here. The missions while not flushed out and as polished as they should be can be fun. The real experience here is just how exceptional the main story mission is. Everything revolving around the scripted story is aces where as everything else feels like slapped together content. Over all I think its really fun game and experience that you should get around too albeit maybe a little later once its patched more and cheaper.

Unfortunately the immersion is broken by police that spawn out of nowhere and NPC's which ignore you walking around with your dong out.

The story though is engaging and enjoyable, with varied missions that aren't too laborious. Characters are likeable though there are maybe a few too many. Sometimes your phone rings non stop and different characters introduce themselves and it can feel a little overwhelming.

I trust CDProjektred and I think they will eventually deliver on this game. If any game has identified the broken vision of the harmony that Microsoft have tried to deliver across multiple generations of consoles, it's this one.

Disclaimer: I have been playing this game on Xbox Series S with backwards compatibility mode. As a result, I haven't had any performance issues during my gameplay. Hence, consider this while reading this review.

Time: Currently played 25 hours with lots of side quests and a bit of story.

Graphics and Performance: To start with, graphics are terribly rendered. Compared to PC version, loads are slow, and colors are over-saturated making the game feel as if it is made by an indie studio over a limited budget. Hence, the highly saturated colors makes it feel like it is trying to hide the badly rendered textures. Human models (apart from main characters) feel like they are drawn using pastel pen and put into game without adding any shaders. Moreover, some UI choices are questionable. The start menu map is very hard to use because of its color choice. Icons are bundled into places where it makes hard to understand where they are exactly and how to go there. It would have been way better if they just used a typical 2d map. Moreover, the inventory/journal system is almost directly copied from Witcher 3 which I have found clunky.

Bugs: When it comes to the bugs, I haven't encountered any game breaking ones. This doesn't mean they aren't annoying or require you to go out of your way to finish tasks. There are numerous bugs such as NPCs walking through hard objects; random NPCs and vehicles spawning right in front of you or ON you, causing you to take damage. I have also encountered cases where the task relevant enemy NPCs teleporting in and out of the playable area very rapidly, making it a pain to finish the tasks. Moreover, I have encountered bugs where mission relevant NPCs or items not spawning at all, requiring you to leave the area and restart the game for it to be fixed. I will update my part about bugs when I play more.

Open-world gameplay: Level design is probably the best part of this game. There are so many details embedded into the world. There are vibrant side-quest stories, meaningful background chatter, lots of books/articles/magazines that you can collect which gives tons of information about the world of Cyberpunk. You can spent dozens of hours just hunting such information learning about the lore of the game. There are many elements to discover such as different clothing shops which sell different clothes; numerous cars that you can hunt by following side quests to unlock, bars/food places; weapons shops. If you are type of person that hunts lore, this game gives you plenty content.

On the other hand, the open-world random encounter (like the ones in RDR2) feel forced and boring. Unlike RDR2's random encounters, there are way too many street events that are way to similar. Such events feel like they have been just replicated across the maps so you get more opportunities to grind for level. I understand this is typical in many RPGs. However, unlike other RPGs such Cyberpunk random events feel bland by not providing enough incentive to enjoy such events like rare drops chances etc. (Even if there is such chance of drop, I am yet to encounter it.) They are just soulless grind options for you to get skill points.

One last note is the path-finding used for navigation. It seems to me that the base code for the functionality is taken from Witcher: a game whose map is mosstly flat. Unlike Witcher 3, cyberpunk has multiple floors in each building and several layers of the city. As a result, the navigation suggestions are very confusing on the map, jumping between points you have already been. Minimap line drawing are lifesavers on the other hand. If you get stuck, just followed the line on the mini-map.

Story: I haven't finished the story yet so I will include my view on it when I am done.

Side-quests: These missions are mostly fun and interesting. They all have small story lines which some of them are more interesting than the main story missions in my opinion. Game provides a ton of side quests from the beginning (starting from 5-6 hours into the story). You can just walk up to certain NPCs on the street and pick up such quests. Later, you can collect contextual information about the story line of side-quests from the environment like described above which is a nice touch.

Level progression: I have found the level and skill progression very nice. Both main quest line and side quests encourage you to level up before fully going into a single story line. Along with main quest line, side quests improve in its requirements for you to have certain skills improved for you to be able to have the mission relatively easy.

Overall: I haven't found main story characters interesting but side quests appealing. Combining this with the bugs and graphics of the game I can only give a 5/10. As I have said I will update my score after finishing the game.

I understand other people's anger about this premiere and I hope CD Project RED will patch this game as soon as it is possible. Not only because I want to play without bugs, but simply the situation this game (and company) is going through right now is delaying "next-gen patch" which will make this game a good title for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. At least this is what I am hoping about. Expand

When you go to one of these missions the fixer will text you some small context for a job that usually involve driving to a gang's turf and murdering everyone. Everything to see is marked by an exclamation point. There is no "living, breathing world", no dynamic city, and only barebones crafting, skill progression, and cybermodding. The only thing that stands out to me personally is the main story, which I've been enjoying so far after 30+ hours, but it's extremely linear. The dialogue you choose effects almost nothing. Expand

You can see that there was a lot that went into the creation and development of this game, but I have never had any console game hard crash as much as this one. Ever. I have had consoles since the PS1/PS2 era. Maybe I was fortunate in the past, but it makes it very difficult to give this game anything but a mediocre score if it's unplayable as it was intended to be experience. All of that said this game has the most vibrant, lived in setting I have ever seen. The voice acting alone has me coming back after every frustrating game crash because it is easily some of the best I've experienced. My biggest issue with this game, outside of the technical ones, is I don't really have a sense of what I'm supposed to be doing. Most of the time that's okay because there's so much to take in, but the tutorial level was frankly garbage. I'm so tired of VR tutorials. It's what a hack developer would do for their game (pun intended). I'm also in a little bit of shock at the core game loop and the action elements of this game. They feel old and dated. That's compounded because the controls are stiff and gun play at first is very loose as you need to progress and make your recoil and aim better and tighter. As far as the game play is concerned I'm not sure if the mission based "go here and do this" main quests/side quest really does anything but bring the game down because the behind the wheel driving physics are definitely lacking and getting anywhere in the car sucks me right out of the game. The hacking mechanic is fine, but ultimately confusing at first because there is SOOO much to keep an eye on for leveling your character and how your "RAM," or the cost of hacking, is utilized and necessary to execute any hack. The hacking mini game however still makes no sense to me and I will have to look up what it is they want me to do when that is happening.

I'm having fun in the game in spite of the above issues. I like the characters. I love the world and it's potential and I know in time this game will get patched. I know in time there will more content. However, this is the game that was released and the best I see this deserves is a somewhere in the land of mediocre.

Gun combat is fun but mostly pointless as once once you have worked out how to equip that sword you found it's game over for enemies in your way. So many bugs in this game, some game breaking like not being able to draw a weapon, some random deaths, I got on a bike it did nothing, I got on the bike next to it , rode for about 50 meters before it blew up and I flew to the outer edges of the badlands in what must have been a nuke exploding. Not being able to select different dialogue options and having to go with the first one, the bugs are endless much like the area of Night city, there are many things you can do but probably wont, like scanning and hacking, yeah you can do it but why when you can just run in slash evertyone with a sword and be out again in 2 minutes with another bag of cash, you might want to go the non lethal route but with a sword you say, there is an eye implant that turns all your weapons to non lethal ,not sure what magic they use here but it works, sword no longer dices enemies into pieces. lots of missions are thrown at you and trying to workout what they all are is pretty hard to the point I just used my map and went to the closist one which is not very RPG, Characters in main story are well created although Keanu Reeves still cant act, if you're the type of player that likes to grind for an item then this game will get it's hooks into you as there are hundreds of things to upgrade or buy. Graphics are not Red Dead standard or even GTA V and while its big I'm not sure it's much bigger than watchdogs legion ( I could be wrong ) but that has far more impressive graphics, sometimes it actually looks like it has last last generation roots. Frame rate drops are very rare (at least to the point it is noticeable), it happened to me only once. The biggest hindrance I have experienced is when an event occurs while driving (for exemple, you get attacked while being driven around NC). When this happens, the game will freeze for 10 to 20 second, where I'm convinced the game crashed, but textures keep loading oddly and then the game picks back up and continues. I believe the biggest criticism is around the marketing. They have been presenting a vibrant NC, when in truth it is rather barren. But to be honest, I am not really disappointed. I'm used to the incredible "in game video" used for marketing that look incredible, when in truth it is fairly ordinary. As such, my expectation for CP were similar and I expected a very tone down city and graphics. The story is incredible and very engaging. I have never been so invested in the events of a game. The shooting is ok and sufficient for an RPG. I would recommend this game on Xbox one to anyone who asked, assuming they can distinct marketing from reality. It is a far from a flawless game and anyone giving a 10/10 is a ignoring its unpolished state, but nevertheless it remains a very entertaining experience. Expand

I was expecting more interaction with NPCs... the majority of them are just sitting around like cardboard cut outs with no meaningful dialogue to offer. In a scene of 20 NPCs, there might be two who are actually walking. The rest are just sat there like dummies. W3 wasn’t the best when it came to combat, crafting, etc. BUT... I dearly loved the W3 because it was immersive... it sucked you in where you became lost in it’s world. CP2077 doesn’t have that, at least for me. I felt that combat was adaquate, I didn’t really have issue with it. Character creation was really nothing special, not being able to change body type seemed a bit weird to me. Dialogue felt forced... I thought it was a little jarring how quickly V buddied up with Jackie. Overall, this game is average at best. I played it on the One X and it ran much worse than expected, the frame rate dropped a good amount depending on the area and a lot of textures were blurry or muddled. A big disappointment all around. But the game isn't as exciting as we are lead to believe. NPC are non-interacting for most of the time. The AI is awful and the spawning police is a little game breaking.
From the people that brought is the Witcher 3 I was expecting so much more, but it turns out CP77 is just a generic open world game with poor AI, poor driving mechanics and full of bugs.

They should have delayed it again and removed the PS4 and Xbox One from the compatible systems

Game is fairly easy even on "Very Hard" which i play. AI is pretty ez to fight - run around columns, etc.

There is a bug? with certain tech talent and vending machines which gives infinite money

Some parts of he game are very "on rails" and should have option to skip the second play-through.

Some builds are insanely overpowered (mantis blades)!!!

    The Pros:
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most immersive games I have ever played. Night City is brimming with such detail that it's just pure joy to be in this world. From the towering skyscrapers and roadways that encase the streets of the city, the mountains of trash just outside the city limits, the shady alleys ways that feel like they could lead anywhere, and the diversity of each of Night City’s districts, cyberpunk’s detailed world is by far the best part of the game. This is coupled with great character interactions in the story. While the story itself is solid but didn't blow me away, the character interactions do. The characters are so interesting and show a wide range of emotions. The performances are truly great with of course the notable Keanu Reeves as Johnny SIlverhand. Even the main character V, while not the most unique protagonist, has enough emotion and character to be notable even in this RPG. Speaking of RPGs, another great thing about this game is its character progression. From the copious amounts of skills, weapons, clothes, and of course cyberware to choose from, the amount of builds for V are truly varied. And the mission design helps to make your build standout, although running and gunning may be the more basic option (more on that in con’s) it all still feels satisfying in the moment to moment gameplay.
The Cons: While cyberpunk is one of the most immersive games I have played, immersion is nothing without engamment. Because while immersion can bring you into a world, engagement is what makes that world feel alive, and this is where cyberpunk really slips up in my opinion. While missions themselves can be quite engaging, the open world itself is anything but. The main issue is NPC’s. The NPC’s in this game feel completely lifeless, reacting in the most artificial and bizarre ways. For example, in one part of the game I snuck up and killed an enemy stelathly. For some reason, everyone in the building I was in began crouching and huddling, even though they were nowhere near where I made the kill. It's things like this that make the world feel less like a city and more like an amusement park. Beyond the citizens of the cities, the gangs also feel artificial as well. You see, in the game you're a mercenary that takes jobs around the city. A lot of these jobs require you to interact with the different gangs. The issue is that no matter what you do, gangs don't respond to your actions. You can massacre an entire gang in the game and they wont do a thing. I really think this game needed a faction system or something, because without it the games world has no dynamic impact at all, making the open world of this game feel pointless. And to further this is the comically bad cops system. While in other open world games like Grand Theft Auto cops would give chase and hunt you down, in this game they don't. They just spawn out of thin air wherever you are, making the whole system disappointing. All these issues I have said take what is an detail and immersive world into a static theme park that barely reacts to the player and serves no use. Another issue is the level design. The thing is, the level design is really good, but if you go in guns blazing you completely miss out on this level design. It really only works from a stealth standpoint, making my katana wielding character get quite reptious after a while, where a stealthy character feels way more satisfying. Another issue is, of course, bugs and performance. I was playing this game on my Xbox One S, and while the game was playable for me even with frame rate drops and the bugs, I can not excuse other players' experience with this game on the base xbox one. For some people this game is unplayable at launch, and that simply can't be excused.
Conclusion: Cyberpunk 2077 is one part of the most immersive games I have ever played, with a detailed world and characters. And the other part is one of the most buggy and shallow open world games I have played. In my opinion this game should have either spent more time making the world interactive and giving it a reason to exist or ditched the open world design in favor of more intractable hub levels similar to Deus Ex, because honestly the best parts of this game where interacting with characters in these amazing levels and building my character. Everything else, the open world and NPC’s just felt lifeless and useless. In my personal experience, I would give this game a 7/10, with the possibility of an 8/10 if itn the future the developers can add to and fix this game. But also considering the near unplayable nature for some people on xbox one, I have to give this game a 6/10. This game needed way more time to be refined. I do hope though this isn't the end for cyberpunk, because the world that's here I think deserves to be expanded upon and explored more. I hope in the future with expansions and fixes this game can be refined, because the good stuff in this truly deserves to be seen.

Cyberpunk is a mixture of massive open world possibilities and fabulous storyline/voice acting and linear gameplay and missed opportunities. There are secrets all around to explore from the different ways you can approach and play the game to the hidden objectives within the quests. You could get lost in its rich and crafted depth and yet the developers decided to opt for a skimming off the top of all this and leave you bereft of meaningful objectives.

The gameplay and graphics are excellent, and I thought I’d dip my toe in the game and do a few missions before I upgrade to the series x next year and the “Full Game” was released. The next thing I know, I’m about 5 short acts into the game and I’m prompted to save my game. I’m thinking at this point that I’ve hit the start of some main plot twist and then... “the end”...

I finished it. I thought I’d only just got started. I’d only done about 1 mission in the badlands FFS! Seriously, this has got to be the worlds shortest RPG...

It’s an RPG with the campaign length of a first person shooter. Really this product was not ready, and I’m not just talking the bugs. I would say it needed another year in development focusing just on the high end hardware. They really needed to flesh the storyline out across the whole map and get you immersed in the cyberpunk world. It’s a great game. Well worth the money, but it’s just such a missed opportunity that it’s a real shame.

Couple of other things that bothered me were driving... only used a motorcycle, sneaking/stealth, hacking, i still don't get how that worked but i was still pretty good at it. The leveling system didn't really contribute to making the experience any better and street cred leveled way to quickly, and crafting, wow what a disappointment... this game was less RPG more grand theft auto with some RPG elements added. I feel after 8 years of development we should have gotten master piece like the Witcher 3 but ended up with something that tried hard but was unfulfilling to play. I feel bad for the devs because of the hate they are getting right now but CDPR leadership should have delayed until April 2021, but even then I'm not sure i would score any differently Expand

Was the story better than Witcher? Maybe, definitely more immersive thanks to first person camera and oh lord genius lighting in interiors. Is the game when everything's counted better than Witcher 3? Not even close. There is no excuse for it being released in the condition it is. It actually doesn't even make sense the studio with so much experience release something like this. Tons of missing basic content (customizations of avatar, cars, weapons, houses, nonstop repeating music - like seriously, there are like 4 songs playing on every radio station in a loop).

And the worst part? They knew they were about to release broken, far from finished game. They literally admitted they were lying about the technical state of the game. The last delay to December? That was literally made just so they wouldn't be on VGA, because they knew they'd fail miserably - as they claimed it was to optimize last-gen versions even more than it already is.

For me, the score for this game must be separated into many categories -
Storyline and story side quests: 9/10
    Atmosphere: 9/10
Technical aspects (including AI, customization etc): 3/10
    Sound: 5/10
Game content outside of story: 5/10

Summarized: 6/10. Unfinished game in every possible imaginable aspect there is, and the only thing why it's worth playing is for it's story and how well it's presented. Your choices in the world have little to no effect at the endings, which eventually makes the whole journey pointless. But really great story to play through during the pandemic nevertheless. It'd just make much better mini-series.

    the pros:
    - the city and the atmosphere: really amazed by how living the city is. The city lights are amazing, feels like to be in Blade Runner. Loved also the different neighborhoods, and the badlands.
    - main story and character writing: the main story is short but very immersive. the side quests related to story characters are well-written and you bond with each of the protagonists. the cons:
    - exploration: the city is amazing to look at but feels shallow. you are free to explore very few buildings and apart from side quests/vendors, you won't find many NPCs willing to talk
    - nearly invincible police is very annoying
    - driving and not being able to customize/pimp cars
    - crafting and engineering: the former is very confusing and lacks explanation, the latter feels redundant

    the mehs:
    - items: there are many consumables but I only used max docs. do not feel like there is a great variety of armory and clothing. - romance: just one option per sexual orientation feels boring. They also could have made all characters bisexual as other games did. - side quests and contracts: side quests found in the world sometimes are fun and cheeky (my favorites), sometimes are too short or lack scope. contracts are just okay.

Hello! I played my version of Cyberpunk 2077 on an Xbox One X console, digitally bought.

    About the Bugs...
I can see the outrage with the bugs and other reviewers are extremely mad about it and to be honest... I understand why. When I knew there were going to be bugs I shrugged my shoulders and accepted that I would be receiving a bugged out game, but... was quite shocked to see the actual amount of bugs that plagued this game, which I myself started to question as too why there were so many. The bugs are there... freezes, crashes, missing art on guns, T posing NPC's the whole lot of them but with the quick save features, whenever I did crash or had to leave the game, it put me relatively super close to the area I crashed at so I was able to continue to play my game onward without any hiccups... until I found the next crash that is... Is it playable...? Yes.. it very much is, and you can get through the storyline and complete the game but it will feel like you're trudging through mud while doing it.

    Story:
I was a bit disappointed at first with the story... I was confused during the beginning of the game as to what was the point of pushing through the story if it was kind of... typical, and then.. it hit me. The story got good and real fun. There's a lot in this game.. A LOT of MEAT to tear and chew through but when you get to the good story plots... you've put your seat belt on and are fully on for the ride! The story is worth it in the end, its a slow burner until it "hits the fan" per say and when you get there... it will absolutely be worth it.

    Sound:
With the heavy amount of guns and cars throughout the game... I thought that some of the sounds might have gotten overlooked but to tell you the truth... It didn't. Different guns... from the same TYPE have different gun shots to them. When you shoot someone with a pistol that is supposed to be stronger.. you do feel the power and feel like you're holding something lethal in your hand when fighting different enemies. Enemies that look scary, feel heavy, and different cars that range from expensive to cheap all have their heavy engine sounds to them which I was pleasantly surprised to find.

    Gameplay:
Here's where we finally get to the good stuff. The game is fun. Not going to lie to you. I played as Male V wielding a Katana and Sub machine gun while hacking my way through enemies. You would think... wielding a katana sounds weird right? Well... I wanted to try it and built my way towards a melee build and it was absolutely viable. Normally, when you do any kind of melee build in an RPG game that was marketed for gun play one would assume I would be struggling quite alot with a bunch of game over screens but that was not the case here. Investing points into the right perks made me feel like a bad*** samurai slashing my way through enemies and feeling awesome while doing it. It felt fluid and smooth when I ran... crouch slid into cover then jumped out of cover as an enemy came at me and pulled my katana out for a righteous bloody kill. Its awesome and I recommend everyone to at least try it. The AI... its not that bad, they play fairly smart. Its not as bad as people says it is... really... you will have fun no doubt... especially if you've got a bloody katana in your hand slashing through enemies like Raiden from Metal Gear Rising.

    MISC:
The inventory and amount of items in the game are just overwhelming.. At the start of the game you will be selling or dismantling alot of your gear with a bunch of stats you won't really understand until you reach a certain point in the game. The amount of food and stat buffs there are to me personally bulks the game down.. its just baffling to me why there's so much food in the game you won't really have the chance to even eat. The standard "Med Hypo" thats like any red potion in an rpg was good enough for me..

    Overall Final Thoughts:
This game should be a 9... BUT. A HUGEEE BUT. There are technical bugs that just hurt the entire experience for me. There are minor gripes that I have with the menu and inventory system and the game crashing every so often makes me... *sigh* with sadness, but what kept me going was the amount of fun I was having killing guys with my katana and enjoying the storyline. If the bugs get fixed and the graphics can be played at the resolution it was suppose to be played at, this would be an EASY 9.5/10 for me. But as the game is right now... My final score is a 7.75/10. I didn't go lower for one reason. CDPR WILL patch these nuisances up... It WILL be fixed... Do NOT Fret my boys, and when that glorious day happens, I will be the first to change my score from a 7 to a higher score. All we need is patience and in my humble opinion, we should all just be happy we are even allowed to play the game... even in the state its in... instead of seeing another scary "Delay Email" again. Peace, love you guys.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall, i’ve had a good experience with this game. I’l break it down into performance and gameplay, and then my feelings on the story.

Performance/ Gameplay: On Xbox one, semi decent, far from perfect. Far far better than it was on launch, a lot of annoying freezing issues fixed as well as graphic issues, but a fair few still remain (Answering text while driving causes you to carry on with zero control, etc) I’ll be replaying it on the Xbox Series X once i’ve got one, as i feel it’s hindered the game a fair bit playing it on a 6 year old xbox. Shootings decent, as well as combat, very detailed environment with plenty to do, i quite like the almost jokey feel to a variety of the descriptions of items and job’s too. Drivings a bit flakey, but i’ve played racing games all of my life, so i’m probably a bit more judgmental on that aspect. Love the aesthetics of the game, really blade runneresque. Cars are super cool too, with a really cool design take to them. Techno radio station is cool too, if that’s your bag.

    Story:
(Spoilers) Really enjoyed the overall story of the game, very well developed and written, characters are very detailed and interesting also. Good length to the main story too, i’ve finished it in about 25 hours. (I’ve done next to no side missions bar Panam’s quest line) However, my main issue with the story is the ending, and Panam’s quest line.

Once you come to the end game, it will jump back to your save previous to the end game section. I’ve never been a fan of this in most games, as it sorta feels like i’ve not finished it, and my actions in the end game section don’t really have any bearing as they essentially never happened. Panams story line is absolutely wicked. So it’s a real shame that a character with so much depth and a huge cool story line attached that could be so much bigger is literally just cast off once you complete it, (until end game) you literally go from being really interested in it and wanting more to almost feeling like your favourite TV series has finished forever and thats that. Pretty annoying tbh, but this and the ending are my main issues with it. Overall, glad i bought it. Very unique game, with an interesting story and plot, very enjoyable and i’ll be playing more of it. I’d recommend waiting it out a little so a few issues are fixed if you’re on PS4/Xbox One.

Ai could be improved a bit , more activities could be added to the city .. cops seem dumb , ai is just random filler to make the city feel alive but in the end only makes you feel more alone .. stores and other things are practically useless when you can create nearly everything you need or find them ... overall the gameplay I enjoy it the weapons are cool the amount of skills that you can put on your character is cool but the game is lacking in content like bad .. after the story you are left with nothing to do besides kill random enemies in the street .. you can not preview clothing which acts like armor before you buy it , again ai is pretty dumb in this game often stoping in middle of the road for no reason thinking that you are parked in front of them . You leave your car in the middle of the road the ai will not drive around it but stay in the same spot ..

Again the game is fun , the story is great the voice acting is amazing but the game needs more ! I would give this game a 7 because of the story and the story choices, and freedom of choice in some story options .. don’t go in here expecting a grand rpg game , or a ground breaking fps it’s none of those .

This is no elder scrolls, this is no fallout .. this is no final fantasy . Nor is it halo or a doom ... it tries to be a rpg but fails at it

Story I would give it a 8/9 , gameplay like guns shooting fighting I would say may be 7-8 .. graphics on the Xbox series x 4 may be until they give the next gen update .. everything else a 2 may be a 3

I played it on Xbox One X and graphics where nice, I didnt have much crashes. I had a lot of bugs but none was game breaking.
But the game was not as fun, mechanics were not deep, skills were not notorious. The game was mediocre before its launch, it was mediocre since the idea. That is a shame.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Side quests without resolution. Missing features they used to promote the game. Extremely underwhelming main story. You're dying without cure the entire game like the last act of RDR2. If you have played RDR2 it feels so familiar and stolen. Its from basically the beginning of the game and it ruined it for me. Especially cuz its b.s. you can go free roam in the open world for as long as you like and nothing will happen except a cough and a brief blurry screen every now and then. Which is essentially straight out of RDR2. Except in this game you never actually die unless of course you choose to kill yourself and get the bad ending. The whole game you're told "you are dying and nothing will save you" and thats how the game ends, you get Johnny out of your head but you're still dying and cant stop it. Or you let your body die and you become a computer program like Johnny, which sounds like digital purgatory, no thanks Id rather just die. Cant skip or hang up phonecalls and you get hundreds of them. Makes a second playthrough very frustrating. Same with dialogue in cars, they let you skip any dialogue in the game, even during important main quests but not phone calls or car dialogue. Braindances are extremely tedious, on second playthrough they are just annoying as hell. The cops spawn in feet behind you milliseconds after you commit a crime. There is literally no traffic ai. Driving is terrible. Some of the lore is interesting but some of the sidequests that explore it(specifically Sinnerman and River Ward's questline) are insanely boring and unfulfilling. The weapons and cyberware are the best part of the game by far. Smart and tech weapons are very fun. Katanas, double jump, projectile launcher, mantis blades, giant **** are all very fun to destroy people with and I like the quickhacking as well. It makes for some fun combat but the combat loop in this game becomes extremely repetitive especially if you go around doing all the open world gigs. Also there are only 4 joytoys in the entire city. You know its unfinished when there are only 4 hookers in a CDPR game. Expand

This game’s hype was legendary. Sadly, it will go down as one the biggest failures of all time, gaming or otherwise. The bugs were annoying and completely unforgivable. It was so bad that now my strategy for all future releases of CD Project Red will be to wait at least 6 months before playing any of their games, if I don’t wait long enough to buy it at a 50% discount.

Bugs aside, I came into this experience expecting something comparable to the Witcher 3. It was not. The main character was not someone I cared about; his companions I had little empathy for. The story and side quests were not captivating. The game itself was interesting enough to keep me moderately entertained for about 10 hours. The final 20 hours were a chore, and I stopped playing for a few months after the 20 hour mark. The only thing I liked about this game were the romance options. The relationship-building via quest chain was more fleshed out than other titles.

The game doesn't feel repetitive and has one of the best storytelling I've ever played. However, the bugs and glitches in this game makes it almost unplayable and will frustrate the hell out of you. I can deal with the flickering of NPC's or having them walk through walls etc., but having your best mods (i.e. special abilities) not working most of the time is ridiculous. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After multiple patches and 18 months later, the game still randomly crashes my xbox one x (5+ times and counting).

I agree that the game looks good, but the atmosphere is bland. Everything is like window dressing, a background of non interactive buildings and people with nothing to say. Furthermore, the game is bloated, like Ubisoft proportions bloated. You've got 28/29 main missions, 67 side missions, 17 cyberpsycho's, 70 gigs (merc missions) and at least 80 hustles (minor skirmishes). I know people want value for money, but quantity is not the same as quality. Especially the hustles are little more than fighting criminals over and over again.

Story wise, the game doesn't go any further than: freedom is good, corporations are bad. SPOILER: Johnny Silverhand is just a gimmick, a memory on a faulty brain chip that is slowly killing you in order to take over, so Act 2 and 3 you are just looking for ways not to die. Even your best friend got killed in the first Act, like they showed in trailers before the game even released, and he was the only really likeable character. Neither Judy, nor Pan Am, nor River, Kenny or Takemura were even a bit likeable to me. You are basically just "working" for them to get either a romance option and/or some backstory. Long things short: they killed Jackie, so they could implement Keanu Reeves. I think they had to get back the money they spent on signing him and rewrote the hole "climb the merc ladder" to "destroy Adam Smasher, the guy who killed Silverhand".

Concluding, the game is perfectly mediocre, apart from the great graphics. The soundtrack fits the game, but is an acquired taste. The gameplay is okay, the inventory management is okay, the UI is okay and the map is okay. Nothing really stands out, positive or negative. In numbers it would be:

    Story: 4
    Graphics: 8
    Game play: 5
    Sound: 6

Considering the game is supposedly an RPG, Story and Gameplay are most important, hence the 5.

Apart from the obvious bugs the story is not that engaging. The side missions more or less are same go to a certain location kill few people, grab some stuff, rescue someone whether it is from fixer or NCPD it is all the same. There are no other activities I have found that I can do apart from a roller coaster with that too you get bored after doing it once.

I’ve never been this negatively affected by the performance of a game before. I know my expectations were high.. but I genuinely do not want to play the game until it’s fixed - or I upgrade my hardware. That being said, I’m playing on a Xbox One X with a 4k QLED T.V.. it shouldn’t be THIS unplayable. The game crashes every 3-4 missions. Lag, pop-in, and glitches are atrocious. I’m playing on the most recent patch (12/14/20) and have spent hours tinkering with the settings. Even @ 1440p with HDR off I feel forced to fast-travel. Load screens and vape breaks are better at holding my immersion. In terms of story and gameplay, Cyberpunk has met most my expectations. I was hoping for some kind of reinvention of the wheel.. but it would’ve been nice to see some kind of innovation when it comes to the RPG elements. There is the typical amount of life-draining trash accumulation (loot) and scrapping for parts. Nothing new. When the world isn’t buffering it looks amazing. Audio on all levels is top-shelf. Starting missions is always exciting and feels novel. And even when it isn’t, the gunplay holds up well enough to fill in the gaps. I expected more options when it comes to your living space(s), and was pretty let down by the vehicles. Luckily, everything is so well modeled and designed that the lack of customization doesn’t feel like a total compromise, maybe just a personal preference. I’m not sure why they put so much “detail” into the character creator.. when none of the choices you made are relevant, and none of them can be changed. Hope you don’t get to level 15 and find out you chose the wrong nose.. They can give you missile arms in 2077, but not a haircut. Compared to other games and my expectations: 85/100. Based on the performance of the game (which has been in development since 1973.. supposedly FOR my console.. does no one that remember Keanu was on the Xbox stage?): 65/100. I preordered the game based off the devs track record of not being EA (if you’re reading this and you buy HUT packs I hope you don’t see 2021). I’m not looking for a refund. I know they will fix the game and add amazing DLC and fee content. I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. I came to the realization that CDPR is my favorite of the big game developers.. but that’s just like saying they’re the most polished turd Expand

I think it’s because you have to do quests in a specific order even though you have the options to do them in any order. It definitely needed another few months maybe even a year. If you’re one of the people who say “Maybe you should get a next gen console or PC cyberpunk was supposed to be a next gen game” 1st of all its not the game was in development about 8 years ago it was planned to be in a last gen console and they were always ambitious with it. long story short this game on the base xbox loses 4 entire points for the sheer fact the game is broken, the graphics and textures actully make you feel ill with this weird blue effect, and the constant crashes if you drive faster then 120, and sadly there are big glitches that keep one from progressing in the story (which is why i had to stop playing)

Overall, I think there’s a lot to like when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077, which has been unfortunately marred by poor performance issues on a number of platforms, and some poor communication (along with some overpromising) on the part of the publisher. It’s clear that a lot of work went into putting this game together, and it’s unfortunate that it had to release in a state that feels a little unfinished. It’s still a game you can very much derive enjoyment from, even in its current state but your ability to overlook open-world bugs and performance issues is certainly going to factor in quite a bit.

Cyberpunk 2077 didn't meet my expectations, but also didn't disappoint me. It delivered an RPG experience like no other, delving deep into themes like control, awareness and addiction. The combat is great and the graphics are amazing, but the bugs and some under-cooked systems make it seem like the devs got lazy, and that's always a bad sign. (Played on Xbox Series X)
