   Great survival game!
   
   I played this some months ago on PC, glad it finally came to PS4. Nice expansions of the game with the new areas, andGreat survival game!

I was a bit annoyed that there was a shortage of public servers, but I joined a private one which turned out to pretty cool with some real PvP action.… Expand

While a number of the issues have been improved or even outright fixed, the game is still far from perfect. The visuals have been greatly improved with far more details and textures being used, although the graphics still have a great deal of bugs associated with them. Certain enemies or objects will regularly tear and pop through other environments, and items will display the incorrect texture all together - this happens quite often with the large scorpions I found a few hours into my time with the full release. While some look simply outstanding, you'll notice that upon death some will take on the textures from other creatures. This becomes more of an issue when there are more enemies on the screen, with some of the largest enemies often disappearing in the middle of a battle, or sometimes knocking the player through the ground into a never-ending fall. At their best, the creatures and enemies do appear to be on par with those featured in Skyrim, but at their worst they kind of look similar to those in Morrowind running on a barebones PC.
   
   As I stated earlier, there isn't much of a narrative to the game outside of some minor tasks given at the opening such as eat, drink, and essentially survive as long as possible within the game world. I chose to start a new character and just work my way north looking for something of interest. While you will occasionally come across a friendly NPC, they rarely have anything noteworthy to say or do aside from offer a minor XP bump for killing them. Some would say trying to survive is enough gameplay for them, but I prefer a bit more of a story from a game, even if it's a minimal one.
   
   In the pre-release, I found the survival mechanics to be a bit brutal, which is still the case when playing by default settings. Now when playing solo or in co-op, you can set up your game to suit your skill or lack thereof, which works when playing PvE, but on the PvP end of the spectrum it makes an unforgiving game even more difficult. After jumping into games to only be killed repeatedly after spawning I opted to play solo. This made the experience more enjoyable, but also took much of the challenge away. Sadly, once you've started, you cannot tweak these settings, which would have made finding a proper middle ground more attainable.
   
   The game world is huge and ripe for exploring, with new locals being added to your map as you come across them, giving the player the option to highlight specific areas on the map using icons or names of their choosing. Sadly, there is no quick travel or option to make the markers appear on the in-game HUD, making navigation tricky and cumbersome. Adding insult to injury, your only option for respawning at death is the starting point of the game, unless you are lucky enough to setup a bed to rest in or found a structure at some point in your journey. The game fails to tell you this in any meaningful way, which means your first death will likely be a devastating one.
   
   Logic says that just building stuff more frequently would help this, right? Well, this mechanic is a chore, as building is far from intuitive. You'll be given an idea of the size of the piece you’ll be working with similar to Fallout 4; however, nine times out of ten, you won't be able to place anything for some unexplained reason. Most of the other mechanics featured in the game are just as cumbersome, if not worse. Combat is a crapshoot if your attacks will even land, with many creatures or enemies being invincible while others die by you simply looking at them. The same can be said for crafting, as the game seems to ignore your full inventory of items needed and requires you to exit and re-enter the menu repeatedly to get the option of creating the item. Naturally, this is all done while being open to attack from lingering enemies. Since weapons and items can rarely be looted or found, crafting is a huge part of the game and will be required to keep up on your armor and weapons.
   
   With so many great RPGs on the market that offer a wealth of content and level of polish Conan Exiles will likely never achieve, it is hard to recommend this title. With its presentation and poor mechanics hidden behind some slick trailers, this is nothing more than a free-to-play game hiding behind a retail price point.… Expand

   Game is good! But why we need use this stupid radial menu if PC version owners have standard hotbar like in ARK or Atlas?

   Il y a je crois plus d’un an, j’avais essayé une démo de ce Conan et j’en étais ressorti assez intrigué : le concept et les principesIl y a je crois plus d’un an, j’avais essayé une démo de ce Conan et j’en étais ressorti assez intrigué : le concept et les principes semblaient intéressants voire prometteurs mais à 35 balles, ça me semblait risqué d’autant que le jeu était encore en « game preview », c’est-à-dire clairement pas fini…
   
   Puis fin 2017, une promotion à -50% m’a décidé et Funcom venait d’annoncer que la version finale sortait en juin 2018. Alors j’ai téléchargé le machin, l’ai rangé dans un coin du disque dur et patienté sagement 6 mois, car il n’est certainement pas dans mes habitudes de jouer à des jeux pas finis…
   
   Assez curieusement, les patches ont été très rares durant ces derniers 6 mois de la game preview, puis le jour dit, le jeu a grossi, passant de 30 à 47 Go… Du classique en fin de compte pour un jeu qui passe en version défiinitive, terminée. Et là, depuis juin, les patches déboulent assez régulièrement entre 7 et 9 Go à chaque fois : une paille… mais soit !
   
   Je lis régulièrement dans le fil d’actu que le jeu a de graves problèmes de stabilité et de connexion, car il est avant tout axé sur le multi. Personnellement, je n’y ai joué qu’en solo -non connecté- et dans ces conditions -à part peut-être un plantage- le jeu est d’une stabilité exemplaire.
   
   En tant que jeu de survie et d’artisanat -à l’instar des daubes comme Ark ou No Man’s Sky- Conan possède les mêmes défauts inhérents à ce nouveau genre : il faut farmer les ressources comme un crevard et tout fabriquer de A à Z, y compris sa maison et tutti quanti… Amusant au début, ça devient évidemment vite répétitif. Et presque pénible, car l’interface est très perfectible… bien que nettement supérieure à celle d’Ark, soit dit en passant !
   
   Le monde est vaste et joli mais assez vide, le combat est dans l’ensemble étonnamment… foireux. En 1440p sur la One X, Conan utilise l’Unreal 4 pas trop mal mais le jeu est victime d’à-coups de temps à autre malgré le vide qui y règne. A part boire, manger, farmer et fabriquer des trucs, buter quelques sauvages et bestioles, le jeu ne propose rien si ce n’est de l’exploration basique : pas de quêtes, ni de scénario, ni d’objectifs… rien.
   
   L’intérêt cela dit est la nudité totale, ce qui explique l’engouement sur moult serveurs où tout le monde se met sur la gueule à poil ! fille ou garçon, pas de jaloux, vous avez le choix. Il ne manquerait plus que quelques mods pornos, ma foi. Mais ça n’arrivera pas sur Xbox, on s’en doute bien.
   
   Puis début août, un DLC cosmétique sort (des armures et des conneries…), un DLC payant et donc un patch déboule comme souvent pour « préparer » l’arrivée du DLC. Aucun autre correctif dans ce patch, juste un patch préparatoire… et là boum, c’est 49 Go dans ta face ! le développeur explique qu’avec leur système de textures, il faut recompiler à la moindre modification et que c’est à cause de la certification Microsoft et blablabla… prends-nous pour des cons, on te dira rien, développeur de mes deux !
   
   Je trouvais déjà le jeu très médiocre et j’ai une connexion très rapide mais c’est pas une raison pour gâcher autant de bande passante !… alors je l’ai zappé directum le Conan, je l’ai exilé dans les oubliettes de la désinstallation : le donjon des jeux triple C+ invités à dîner pour l’éternité dont il n’est pas près de ressortir.
   
   Quel dommage, car il y avait du potentiel sur le papier… mais avec des branques pareils, ça ne donnera jamais rien. (Critique écrite en 2018).… Expand

I've been playing this game for about three/four months, I've experienced my corpse disappearing, very heavy lag got me killed, NPCs running through the walls of my base nearly killing me. I think the developers are not prioritizing right, since they're working on crossbows and other content that they really can't afford since they're a small team. The game ESPECIALLY on Xbox needs optimization. Also on Xbox I need to play singleplayer for two minutes before joining any server, otherwise the game WILL crash...… Expand
