    Good game. You definitely see Gears of War-esque in this game give that it is made by Epic. Especially in main character Grayson Hunt (Marcus Fenix type guy and very similar voice), and main protagonist General Victor Sarrano (who resembles Colonel Victor Hoffman in some ways). I did like the point kill system and that awesome grappling gun/hook.

Игра вышла уже 9 лет назад и как по мне за все эти годы ни капли не постарела и по-прежнему может зажечь. Да, пожалуй, графика уже не выглядит настолько впечатляющей как это было при старте игры, однако небогатый но весьма продуманный арсенал оружия с двумя режимами боя, возможности нашегоНестареющая классика и просто образец отличного линейного адреналинового шутера от первого лица. Игра вышла уже 9 лет назад и как по мне за все эти годы ни капли не постарела и по-прежнему может зажечь. Да, пожалуй, графика уже не выглядит настолько впечатляющей как это было при старте игры, однако небогатый но весьма продуманный арсенал оружия с двумя режимами боя, возможности нашего героя по выведению из равновесия оппонентов за счёт подкатов, пинков и хлыста, система скиллшотов, заставляющая максимально творчески подходить к уничтожению врагов, да и просто действие игры, которое неведомой силой вдавливает тебя в мягкий диван и заставляет сердце быстро биться однозначно не оставляет равнодушным. Пожалуй, только DOOMу и Серьезному Сэму Bulletstorm уступает в интенсивности происходящего. Не всё конечно гладко в игре, несколько сбивает с толку в такой активной и агрессивной среде отсутствие возможности прыгать у нашего подопечного, да и в принципе управление сделано кривовато, пришлось очень долго привыкать. Сюжет в игре не насыщен драматическими событиями, но для этого жанра вполне себе сносный. Bulletstorm своей концовкой намекала нам недвусмысленно на продолжение, но почему-то так до сих пор не обзавелся сиквелом, хотя игра получила весьма лестные отзывы. Остаётся лишь ждать и надеяться на вторую часть в новой современной оболочке с сохранением чумового драйва и творческого нестандартного подхода к разрушению.… Expand

    Bulletstorm’s core gameplay loop is to “Kill with Skill” in the form of “Skillshots”. Since most of the enemies can be pretty bullet-spongey, Skillshots represent the most efficient way of killing enemies. Bulletstorm has a database of 131 different Skillshots for the player to try and pull off throughout the course of the single player Campaign and various other game modes. SkillshotsBulletstorm’s core gameplay loop is to “Kill with Skill” in the form of “Skillshots”. Since most of the enemies can be pretty bullet-spongey, Skillshots represent the most efficient way of killing enemies. Bulletstorm has a database of 131 different Skillshots for the player to try and pull off throughout the course of the single player Campaign and various other game modes. Skillshots reward you with points for killing enemies in the most hilarious and creative ways possible: shooting an enemy is the ass rewards you with a “Rear Entry” skillshot, putting a kill shot into an enemies neck rewards you with the “Gag Reflex” skillshot as he gargles and chokes on his own blood and going full-on “THIS. IS. SPARTA!” and kicking an enemy off of high places rewards you with a “Vertigo” skillshot, among many others. Some are tougher to pull off than others; I ultimately settled into a routine of using a half dozen or so Skillshots that I could reliably pull off. Some are locked behind certain combat encounters and some are locked behind a weapon’s alt-fire mode. On top of being fun to execute, the points you acquire from Skillshots serve as the in-game currency which you can spend on weapon upgrades and ammo by linking up with a “Dropkit” (which will also give you access to your Skillshot checklist and gameplay stats) via your “Energy Leash”. While you can acquire small amounts of points from simply shooting enemies, you get far more points by executing Skillshots. The game also utilizes the tried and true “bullet time” mechanic, where kicking or pulling an enemy towards you with the “energy leash” triggers a bullet time sequence where you can better place your shots or quickly survey your surroundings and pull off a Skillshot using environmental hazards like a giant cactus or live electrical cables.

    In terms of weapons, Bulletstorm offers up a pretty decent arsenal for you to leverage. There’s your standard assault rifle (Peacemaker Carbine) and pistol (The Screamer) but there’s also a quad barrel shotgun (the Boneduster) which became my go-to weapon in most combat arenas, the “Flailgun” which fires a length of chain with two mines attached to both ends which can wrap around enemies and restrict their movements or the “Penetrator” which fires a giant drill head that can pierce through multiple targets and embed them into walls or ceilings. Each weapon has an alt-fire mode known as “Charges” that need to be unlocked.

    The game’s single player campaign has seven acts and lasts about 5-6 hours, providing a fast paced, fun and easy to pick up experience. I’ve done three play throughs of the campaign because I really enjoyed my time with it and wanted to see how many different Skillshots I could unlock. The campaign has two collectible strands in the form of “Newsbots” and “Electroflies”. The enemy variety adds to the challenge of the game and forces you to adjust your play style on the fly. Some enemies will dodge your kick unless your force them into a pain state, some are too quick to be leashed and some can only by killed by hitting glowing weak spots. Some enemies will charge at you with melee weapons, some shoot at you from a distance and some are deadly in close combat so target prioritization in combat arenas is advantageous.

    Aside from the campaign, there’s Anarchy mode, which is a 1 to 4 player horde mode. It’s perfectly serviceable, if unspectacular. Odds are you’ve played this sort of mode a bunch of times before. The other game mode I checked out was Echoes mode which serves as an arcade style, score challenge mode that drops you into short sections of the single player campaign and tracks your score based on kills, skill shots, time completion etc. and then assigns you a rating from 0 to 3 stars. There are local and global leaderboards that host your score and I found this mode to be quite enjoyable, playing through all 30 Echoes.

    On a technical level, Bulletstorm does have some issues. I did experience some frame rate drops in a few of combat arenas, some stuttering and 2 crashes to dashboard in the later stages of the game. Graphically, the game looks great, as a remastering probably should and the load times aren’t overly long. The levels are very linear and don’t offer much in the way of exploration.

    My only major gripe with Bulletstorm is it’s price point. $40 CAD for a remastered game that was only 6 years old, is kind of a joke.

    Overall, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is fun, mindlessly fun shooter that’s easy to pick up and provides some decent replay value via it’s Skillshots database and various game modes besides the main campaign. If you missed out on playing the original, I definitely recommend picking this up    … Expand

    What happens when you try to make an FPS Gears Of War copy, but without ANY of the charm and quality?
    Well, the result was probably the worst game I've played in 2020, so far.
    I'll say this, though, the shooting mechanics are FUN! They were the only thing that kept me going through this 7/8 hour campaign.     I'll say this, though, the shooting mechanics are FUN!
    They were the only thing that kept me going through this 7/8 hour campaign. Controls are tight, pacing's frenetic, weapon variety is good, the HUD is kinda nice, the sniper feels WONDERFUL to use and that, honestly, is enough to earn a replay, if you're aiming for a game that you COMPLETELY do not need to do any type of thinking.
    One other thing, I know there's a cool multiplayer mode, but Bulletstorm would be MUCH better with a co-op/splitscreen for the story mode.

    Aside from the shooting, everything else sucks, in my opinion. I could list everything that destroyed Bulletstorm for me, but it would tire me AND you.
    Here are a few stinky things in it: Shirtless bullet sponge enemies, while your health is made of paper. The writing and voice acting are ATROCIOUS. Level design is dull and the environments are generic as hell. The leash is cool and all, but it gets old REALLY fast. This game would benefit a lot from a jump button, but I would suffice for an action command that ACTUALLY works properly. No grenades. Hideous AI. Taking cover is pointless. Some enemies are very poorly designed, like the Burnouts, for example. Occasional stiff movement moments. Cringe-worthy jokes.
    Also, there is a very bland story going on, but... Wait... Was there a story at all?

    Bulletstorm is like... Being forced to watch a kid play with his toys and actually try to pay attention in what he's doing. The kid makes the story and dialogue as he goes and things sort of just happen.
    Will it put a smile in your face? Sure! Once or twice... For a tiny while, I guess.
    Is it any good? Hell no! You'd definitely rather do ANYTHING else!    … Expand

    It's ok to build a game around a gameplay loop, as long as this loop has depth. Unfortunately, Bulletstorm's "lash, kick, shoot" is too simplistic to keep your interest for long. Swearing tries to keep the stupid story interesting, but it cannot cut it in 2018, where even Gears of War has a decent story. Dated animation makes the cutscenes feel even more painful than usually.

    The game would have been redeemable if you could play the campaign in coop, to revel in its bro puns and to grant each other openings for impressive kills - there is even a second character with you. But for some mysterious reason this option doesn't exist.
    No wonder this game's price fell by 80% in a few months. It's still not worth it, particularly on Xbox One where you have SO many better shooters (some available in the Game Pass).    … Expand

    For players who were around during the FPS boom in the 90’s, Duke Nukem was a staple and ranks with Doom as one of the greats that kick started the genre’s success. With the most recent entry Duke Nukem Forever being a critical and commercial bomb, his future was a bit up in the air. That is until he was added as a playable option to the Bulletstorm remaster.

With the most recent entry Duke Nukem Forever being a critical and commercial bomb, his future was a bit up in the air. That is until he was added as a playable option to the Bulletstorm remaster.

    For those who never had the joy of playing the over the top shooter when it was originally released in 2011, the game focuses on Grayson Hunt and his team known as Dead Echo. After being screwed over by his commanding officer, he sets off on a journey seeking revenge with the sole survivor from his team. While the story is nothing we haven’t seen before, the amazingly juvenile yet hilarious writing means the story mode isn’t to be missed.

    The story shines even more in a comedic way when adding Duke to the mix. Since the remaster did not involve rerecording lines, everyone still refers to him as Grey, which often confuses or infuriates Duke. Featuring the original Duke, Jon Saint John, it often felt like I was playing a new Duke game opposed to Bulletstorm.

    The tools at your disposal are varied and each features an alternate fire option, as well as the option to use what is referred to as a leash that allows you to pull enemies towards you, or environmental hazards, or “thump” the enemies into the air. In addition to the arsenal, you can kick or slide into enemies, sending them airborne in slow motion, allowing you time to line up the perfect kill. You’ll use these tools to kill enemies in the most horrendous or hilarious ways possible, earning points in the story to apply to upgrading the ammo capacity or adding the secondary fire option to each of the weapons.

    The game’s visuals still hold up, and the extra details featured in the remaster show that the remaster was a labor of love opposed to senseless cash in, like most that have flooded the market. With only the occasional bug being present, the story is really a highlight of the package, especially when playing as Duke. The only issue I encountered was it being difficult to vault over certain objects, requiring you to stop and find the sweet spot to proceed. The quick time events were also a challenge at times, as some of them are less responsive than others. Since these are limited and typically only result in a few additional points, not a game over screen, they don’t cause much distress.

    In addition to the 5-8 hour campaign, which features a number of difficulties for those who really wish to test their skills, there are a few Echo modes. These are primarily ripped from the story and put the player right into the action, allowing them to compete for stars, which unlock more Echos, as well as competing on the global leader board. While it may be repetitious for some players, I found it enjoyable to revisit earlier levels after getting into the groove of racking up as many points as possible. A new feature added to the game is the Ultimate Echos, which provide certain stipulations on each original Echo. These will require you to complete certain skill shots, meet a time, or even not use any skill shots at all.

    Rounding out the package is the multiplayer mode, which is a hoard based mode which allows you to tackle waves of enemies with friends. While the online community is not currently booming, I was fortunate enough to have a friend whom was playing and was able to complete a few waves. There aren’t any new maps, but this package does include all of the DLC content offered in the original game. There are a number of new traps as well as skill shots that can only be completed with another player, such as using your combined leashes to rip enemies in two.

    I can wholeheartedly recommend this release for any FPS fan, especially those who are new to the franchise; even more so if you can find it on sale like I did.    … Expand

    Bulletstorm was one of the funnest games of 2011, alongside Gears 3. And it's great that the magic of the original game was translated over to this remaster. And the lighting and visuals has been buffed heavily, making this feel quite different to it's 2011 predecessor. However, there is not quite enough new content to warrant returning players to but this at full price. For veterans, 25$Bulletstorm was one of the funnest games of 2011, alongside Gears 3. And it's great that the magic of the original game was translated over to this remaster. And the lighting and visuals has been buffed heavily, making this feel quite different to it's 2011 predecessor. However, there is not quite enough new content to warrant returning players to but this at full price. For veterans, 25$ would be the max price. But for newbies, full price is very fair.… Expand

    I was one of those people and I’m so happy I finally had a chance to play…
    Bulletstorms 6 hour campaign is one of the best paced first person shooter campaigns I’ve ever played through…
    Here you play as Grayson Hunt who goes rogue after learning he’s been killing innocent people…
    And throughout the journey you’re accompanied by different characters, but primarily your accompanied by Ishi, who is now half ai half human which leads to interesting scenarios in the story…
    You’re only mission is to get off of the planet.. And doing so the only way you know how...
    With guns…
    This campaign is a blast and the dialog and storytelling is lighthearted comedic relief in the style of borderlands…
    you have a leash that you can use to pull enemies into you or into spikes in the environment, you can kick them away and shoot them as they go slow mo in the air…
    And killing enemies in all of these different ways gives you more skill points which are spent on both upgrading your weapons you unlock throughout the campaign as well as for buying ammo itself…
    Enemies do drop ammo and there are occasional ammo crates.. but you’ll most likely be refilling your gun with bought ammo…
    And you do run out fairly fast, thankfully you are able to carry 3 weapons at once and the game is very generous with its skill points, so you never feel desperate…
    Each weapon also has a charged attack just in case you do run out of ammo and don’t want to switch to a new weapon right away or of course use them on the mini boss enemies you run into…
    But the delivery of this campaign is brilliant…
    Its fast paced, varied, and never overwhelms you...
    it isn’t just enemies around every corner...
    it gives you downtime of crawling through tights spaces or climbing across gaps…
    of listening to the banter between you and the characters you meet..
    This spacing allows enemy encounters to be fun instead of a nuisance…
    My only complaint with this game at all is the fact that your squad is practically useless..
    There’s an annoying enemy for example that you can only do damage by shooting its back… and he of course has a magnet in him that follows you, never pays attention to your squad members… and they’ll just stare at him instead of shoot his back..
    It’s frustrating and does hurt the flow of the gameplay a bit…
    And enemies feel a little too bullet spongy...
    I hated using the assault rifle here even though in shooters that’s my favorite weapon type…
    Enemies take like 2 full clips to kill.. which had me ignoring that weapon for most of the game and just sticking to heavy damage weapons like the shotgun…
    And the final annoyance.. The sniper rifle... you have to steer the bullet in air... no thanks.
    After you complete the campaign you can play again with all guns unlocked and equipped from the start so you aren’t stuck with just 3, and there’s also an echo mode where you can chase high scores and a multiplayer mode…
    Which is dead… during launch week.. So yeah… good luck.
    This is basically a survive as long as you can with a group of up to 4 players. Killing waves of enemies as they come at you...
    And when I say the mode is dead... I literally couldn’t find anyone… so I played by myself…
    Thankfully Bulleststorm is worth picking up on its own for its campaign...
    On sale though…

    Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition is a frenetic, addictive and very funny first person shooter. It encourages us to use creativity so we carry out all kinds of combinations to kill our foes. Make incomparable combos to earn more progress points.

    If you missed playing Bulletstorm when it was originally released the Full Clip Edition is the definitive way to play one of the Xbox 360's more under appreciated titles. Not to mention it's stupid, stupid fun!
