Battlefield 1 is one of the best modern multiplayer FPS games, that is still strong to this day. Besides, the single player campaign is one of the best, the Battlefield franchise can offer. A must play!

My personal favorite title in the Battlefield franchise, with lots of action, an intriguing story mode, and fantastic multiplayer. Its just that the playerbase is practically non-existant.

This game is a call back to the simplicity that made the original Battlefield 1942 game so good. It takes away the dependence on gun attachments and scopes, and really makes you have to master the weapons and their iron sights. Which makes some of the chaos of the battles feel more engaging that many of the more recent Battlefields which feel like are loaded with gameplay assists via gun attachments. The core gameplay is the same old Battlefield, but the new WWI setting really makes the chaos of the series shine. Some maps are just brutal tug of war battles that feel like the endless and hopeless WWI battles, while others are wide open terrains that require a methodical team-based strategic approach. Every classic element of Battlefield is exceptionally executed, which includes all of the original gameplay modes.

What really makes this game stand out from the pack is the operations mode. Adding historical context to each battle really makes you feel the sense of pressure and urgency with each push. Plus it’s really fun seeing how all of the maps tie together in the grand scheme of the war, as opposed to every other videogame where each map is just random killing until you complete your objective. I absolutely loved the historical context to this mode, it does not get old, and it really increases the pressure of the battles. This was replicated in Battlefield V, but unfortunately the execution wasn’t there in the sequel.

I played this when it first launched in 2016 and loved it. I am now revisiting it in 2022 and loving it all over again. Surprisingly it held up extremely well, and does not look or feel dated. They really put a lot into getting this game right, so everything holds up. The sound design is another great feature of this game, as it adds to the immersion - for example the whistle blowing as you push into a new sector, just that one tiny touch adds so much to the experience.

This is my favorite Battlefield experience, but I know it can push the modern warfare player base away. I think this is what Battlefield needed, especially in hindsight knowing that Battlefield 4 was pretty weak, and how bad Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042 were. Absolutely wonderful game, even 6 years later, and the weapon balance really stands out in contrast to other Battlefield games.

Sometimes it feels like it takes years to go from spawn to the battle, or it takes centuries to find someone and get a kill, but I guess that fits some people's preferences. It is a good game, and if you find it for $15, $20, I would say it is worth it.

I just wish I could fight bots, or have split-screen with friends because the multiplayer is unplayable without Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate.

To get it out of the way I will start with the BAD. Well to start it's an EA game so they will try you to spend as much money on Progression, DLC, EA access, Different bundle's, Special edition Etc. Honestly I wish the different weapon variants actually made a much bigger difference. Like yeah there are a **** ton of variants but really the difference is so minimal it's frustrating. The matching making is pretty **** but it's pretty late after it released so it's kind of natural. Now on to the good, well the map design is great and there are a ton of unique and well detailed maps. Next the gun play, all of the guns have a great beefy feel, they literally collect mud when you lay in the mud. Now that's some real detail! Next is the Game modes, well there are so many amazing modes Conquest, Domination, Rush, Team deathmatch, war pigeons, and finally OPERTAIONS. Well with Operations it's quite simple it feels like all out war! The speeches before give a good perspective of the soldiers fighting. The Music and sound design is great, the songs get you super pumped up for the fight ahead. I think I'm done but honestly I did not do this game enough justice with this review because this is not everything. Expand

"Battlefield 1" is very good, but it's not the best game in the series. In fact, many fans may feel disappointed due to some frustrating aspects. In fact, many fans may feel disappointed due to some frustrating aspects. For example, the weapon handling feels strangely "off". It takes awhile to get use to aiming which shouldn't be the case for any shooter. Another major issue is that enemy players can easily blend into the environment. This can lead to a lot of cheap deaths since you can hardly see them.

Additionally, there are times when BF 1 can turn into a running simulator due to the lack of vehicles. There's nothing more frustrating than running half way through a map only to be shot dead by a sniper. Speaking of snipers, they're easily the worst thing in this game since their bullets can seemingly travel the world and back. When you discover that you've been taken out by a sniper, they're usually half way across the the map. It's ridiculous.

Bullet damage can also be wildly inconsistent. There are times when I've shot a charging player with a powerful rifle at close range and they end up stabbing me to death. WTF. Of course, I have to mention that loading times between online matches are horribly long. Despite these issues, the core gameplay is pretty good. Series veterans should enjoy mastering the new weapons, maps and vehicles. In addition to multiplayer, there's also a single player campaign that is the best story mode in the series. However, many of the missions require a stealth approach that can be hard to maintain.

Visually, "Battlefield 1" is a graphical powerhouse. It looks great on Xbox One and the dynamic audio is what you'd expect from a DICE shooter. Despite its many shortcomings, the game is very good. Overall, I'd rate it with an 8.8 out 10.

My score is mainly for the multiplayer, which is fantastic. The campaign -- though it is surprisingly good considering that it is Battlefield we're talking about -- is not the main point of the game. The main point is that the multiplayer, Battlefields "badge of honour", is a remarkably fun and competitive experience set over countless beautiful and exciting maps which take place in different theatres of "the great war". I'm not a big fan of multiplayer generally, but Battlefield 1 was an exception for me. Of course, this game isn't a documentary and it's all about the fun but I have a great consideration about fun in this game. Although, I would recommend for anyone with the good internet and access to the smooth multiplayer.
Single player: As a history book that I've mentioned earlier you are thrown into a trash bin. Most of my experience with the game is my rage about the offline part. All of the stories are short, with lacking gameplay, and pretty much uninteresting. They aren't connected with each other in any way. Most of the "war stories" are concentrated on the general events but the writing is making a huge turn over to people and their own "feelings" which isn't making any sense because the most of the attention goes to the event that is happening. Visually: this game looks gorgeous and quite the adventure for your eyes is guaranteed. But the gameplay is lacking and it feels like a tutorial for the multiplayer with nice cutscenes. I personally would cut the "stories" part from the Battlefield franchise and replace it with the more ways to play the best part of the game offline or in co-op. That's why actually Battlefield games up to Bad Company never died out. Bad Company and Bad Company 2 have, on the other hand, great storyline.
Multiplayer: The "Gem". The buyout. The best part of this game.
Great visuals, gameplay, variety. Everything that you've ever wanted is here. It needs to be experienced. However, the gameplay was built more callofdutyish than ever before. "the one man army" syndrome is here. Stupidly fast-paced gameplay for the battlefield, spray and pray without thinking. Someday, this too big franchises will collapse and would be played the same way. Of course, EA wouldn't be itself if the loot boxes weren't included and a Premium pass that includes 4 DLC that was cut from the game. "Everything for the player"
    My score:
    +Good sound, +Great visuals, +Multiplayer gem, +Variety, +Fun and chaos, +Details,+DLC content isn't lacking for its prices
-Loot boxes and a stupid "business" economy. " We make money, not games" EA
    -Lack of the Offline content
-Servers aren't populated, DLC hosting servers are empty,

Battlefield 1 is a beautiful game graphically which is nicely juxtaposed by the chaos that ensues around your character as you play multiplayer and even the campaign. It's crazy to think the craters around you from artillery, the debris from buildings crashing down, and much more are from other human players and not just the game trying to make it seem chaotic. The game play itself is well balanced with each class having a specific role to play in the battle to come. This allows the player to find the class that best suits their playstyle to not only enjoy the game more, but to also help their team and the objectives they are trying to capture or defend. Additionally, several weapons in the game must be unlocked by leveling up or using specific weapons. Some may find this annoying or tedious; however, the satisfaction of unlocking a new weapon after performing certain tasks related to the class you're playing as is more than worth it. Compared to Call of Duty this is actually better suited for you as a gamer as in Call of Duty you may unlock a gun from leveling up that you don't really want to use or could care less about. In Battlefield 1 though, the requirements to unlock a specific weapon or variant are laid out clearly and you can focus on the gun(s) you want to unlock rather than ones you don't really want. While on the comparison between the two games, you can actually unlock several weapons before leveling up rather than just one per level giving the progression of multiplayer in Battlefield 1 a quicker sense of pace. The vehicles are fun to use whether or not your the pilot/tanker or just a passenger and in the confines of WWI seem truly powerful in the right hands. At the same time, it's a fun game of cat and mouse trying to destroy these awesome machines which adds not just fun, but satisfaction when you finally pull off the killing blow.

In some of the game modes, the losing team will get a Behemoth or other advantage to help turn the game in their favor. Occasionally, this works for the team, but more often than not it is too late for it to be of any real help. It is a nice event that occurs though as it gives players who may be pessimistic about the game a ray of hope that reinvigorates them.

The campaign is very fun and the stories it tells are captivating. Each one has specific challenges to complete as well which adds another layer to these stories and increases replayability. The one downside to the campaign are the few levels where you play essentially a stealth game, which seems out of place in an FPS focused around so much mass destruction and chaos. These levels normally slow down the stories you're playing through taking away the excitement and replacing it with stress as you attempt to maneuver around enemies and take them out without being seen or else you'll have to survive a gunfight where the numbers are not in your favor.

In the game, you can unlock codex entries from either completing challenges in the campaign or by completing certain objectives which again (and I know I've said this many times) is satisfying upon getting them unlocked. These codex entries allow the player to learn more about WW1 and are quite interesting to read. I wish more games would do a similar thing.

The reason this game gets a 9 out of 10, and not a perfect 10 are for two reasons though. One I've already addressed, although is not as big of a deal, and that would be the stealth missions in some of the campaign levels. The second has to do with multiplayer and I was saving this for the end:
the balancing of multiplayer games is downright pitiful. Most games I've played with the exception of some Operations game modes, are one time steamrolling over the other.

But what about the online? GREAT QUESTION: just tried that - there's one server with 64 people, and the rest have between 2-5 people in them. super fun for an FPS that is supposed to have dedicated servers and 32 vs 32 matches. Awesome.

Most frustrating is that this steaming pile came out in 2016, has a 32GB UPDATE, and still is glitchy. Nvm the typical EA lootbox crap. I am never buying an EA game again - one star for highlighting the toughest men ever.

I'll be the first to admit that I hadn't played a "Battlefield" game prior to this one. Sure, some of them looked cool, but for the most part, I never had a huge amount of interest in the series. Recently, however, after hearing way too many positive things about "Battlefield 1," morbid curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to give it a shot. As it turned out, I ended up really enjoying myself!
Taking things to World War 1 was a welcome reprieve from all the "futuristic" shooters in 2016, and fortunately, "Battlefield 1" sticks the landing! It's a surprisingly cinematic shooter: the game's single-player "War Stories" campaign will have you doing a good amount of watching alongside your playing, but admittedly, I did find the game's characters to be rather compelling and interesting, and the stories to be rather emotional. The fast-paced gunplay is also amazing, the visuals are top-notch, and I find the return to World War 1 compelling in the aspect that it takes things back a technological notch: no longer are you spoiled with the greatest weapons of all time with crazy attachments, instead you have to work within the constraints of what was available at the time. It's an interesting idea that's executed very well, and it adds a layer of realism to the game.
It's not quite a "perfect" game for me: I wish that the single-player campaign (or "War Stories," if you will) was just a little bit longer (especially in regards to gameplay, since I mentioned that you do quite a bit of watching), and I do think some of the vehicle sections feel a little bit uninspired, but otherwise, "Battlefield 1" is a successful World War 1 shooters, and it gets me pretty excited to see what EA will offer when "Battlefield V" releases later this year.

Let me just start by saying that I love the battlefield series. over the years, DICE has taken fans through WWII, Vietnam, Iraq/Iran, fictional conflicts between the USA, Russia, and China, and now back at the earliest time period ever used by the series: World War 1 (1914-1918 for those who are curious). At the time of writing, I have played over 500 hours in-game on the PC version. I can say without a doubt that it is an instant classic in the Battlefield series. it is just as good and maybe better than its earlier counterparts, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline. While I can't say that Battlefield 1 brings me back to my childhood playing Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield 2, the game certainly lives up to being a good addition in the series. Now allow me to examine some specifics:
    Graphics: 8.5/10
definitely a step up (or six steps up) over BF4's Frostbite Game Engine iteration. even at lowest settings, the game still looks amazing. I still think it can be better and i'm sure it will get there, but very nice overall!
    Gameplay -Maps: 9/10
excellent gameplay on most gamemodes. Air Assault needs work at time of writing, but otherwise, awesome!
    Gameplay -Weapons & Vehicles: 8/10:
While the game goes for a visually stunning and immersive experience, it isn't hard to notice the issues with weapons and vehicles in the game. With many a patch and rebalancing, the gameplay is much better now than at first, but I still feel like certain things are slightly over/under powered.
    Bugs: 7/10
Yes, there are still some bugs in the game. a few are extremely annoying, but overall, not bad. at least they (mostly) fixed the kill-cam.
    Player-Base (PC): 6/10:
admittedly, the game has lost some player base since launch and it can be difficult to find active games for certain gamemodes. West Coast US servers are few and far between for anything but Conquest and 2-3 TDM games. East Coast is a better bet for those living in the States. Console also seems to be doing better in that respect.
    Overall Experience: 7.5/10
I love this series and am always excited to see the next game come out. Battlefield 1 has been a truly unique experience and I think it deserves a place in the BF community for a long time to come. The game does suffer from low player base in certain areas and the system requirements to run the game are somewhat high, making smooth gameplay for many people very difficult. from experience, I can say that you will want an intel or AMD processor in the 3.4-3.5GHZ+ range. a video card like the GTX 1050ti would do well in this title at 1080P 60FPS for low to medium settings or better. If you like battlefield and are interested, I definitely have to recommend this game! Keep up the good work DICE!

There are many things in Battlefield 1 that give the players a huge amount of options on how, who and what they want to play with or what they want to play full stop. The game modes available are: conquest, rush, war pigeons, team death match, domination, operations and campaign of course. Conquest is a large team battle over huge maps of which vary widely with the terrains. In this game the teams will fight to gain control of the flags whilst killing each other and gaining points from killing the other team and then depending on how many flags your team has your score will slowly go up or quickly go up due to the ownership of the flags. The campaign of the game is an excellent re-enactment of the great war, yes it is a little over exaggerated with all of the shooting and drama but people who play first person shooters don’t normally want to be jut educated, they want to be thrilled with what they’re playing and maybe have a little bit of learning on the way. Battlefield 1 gives the perfect mix between shooting and the experience itself, as soon as you start the story of the game you’ll want to go into the next stories and I’m very sure of that, they are exhilarating and very dramatic making you infused into the game making your own decisions over the large map of which you play in.
The content of the multiplayer is absolutely amazing, there are tons of different weapons to unlock and tons of weapons to play around with and loads of different pieces of gear to create your very own class from, you can switch to planes and to tanks and to trains and boats and even a zeppelin, there are mounted turrets in places on the maps leaving hidden but powerful siege areas, the teams are well balanced and the mix of different classes between the huge teams makes the game even harder but at the same time so much better as it’s not too challenging but it’s definitely not too easy.
The price of the game is now around 30-25 pounds which isn’t bad at all, its starting price was around 55-60 which for the game itself and new was still a very reasonable price. It has a range of everything and it is all built to perfection and that’s one of the only problems with the game, on Xbox 1 it runs great with a good or great Wi-Fi but if yours isn’t great or good then its likely to lag or glitch a little when in game, when on PC there’s a large problem if you don’t have a very good PC because the game has pretty much no chance of running… at all. I suggest that if you would like this game you either need an Xbox 1 or a very good PC.
The graphics of the game are insanely good and the huge maps look stunning with all of the visual effects, the sounds are amazing and set with obvious perfection into all of the correct guns and gear and the correct places, it could be real if it wasn’t inside a screen, the game itself is visually stunning and that’s an understatement!
In conclusion I would highly recommend that you get this game if you like first person shooters because it’s a whole new experience for any player!

My one and only complaint is the multiplayer load times. It takes FOREVER to load. You could cook some goulash, take a bath using your favorite bath bomb, read a Harry Potter book, play with yourself and still have time to run a 5k before the map loads or game starts or matchmaking is done.

First thing the graphics are amazing for the game and the way that tanks, aircrafts, blimps and even just the way simple guns work makes the game feel so immersive and you feel like your actually in that war online. The main reason i got the game was for the single player and ill say that it was amazing and fun to play the best one being the Gallipoli campaign. The only cons to the story was that it was to short and we didn't get to stay with the different characters for that long to connect with them when the emotional moments happened that were suppose to make you sad didn't really affect me much as like i said i didn't spend as much time with the characters as i would of liked.
Anyway overall good game with a 9/10
Thanks for reading, check out my other game reviews and movie reviews Thanks BBYYEE

Pros Great Graphics, sound is superb, Maps are smaller to what battlefield is accustomed to having which makes the gameplay a lot faster than previous battlefields. Gave it an 8 however due to the weapons I understand it is WW1 but if they would have came up with more attachment's or different ways to customize your guns and loadouts the game would have been even better.

If you're expecting improvement on BF4, don't get your hopes up. BF1 is so unimaginative and boring - I was really looking forward to this game, I thought it would be a fresh chapter for Battlefield and a game I could enjoy for the next year or so. When I first started playing, I was really impressed, it's a stunning, cinematic game with really quite immersive sound effects. But after the first 10 hours or so of Multiplayer battles I got bored.

For me there's 2 really big problems I have with the game causing it to get boring.
1- There's a real lack of maps and the ones that are available are not designed for all game modes. If you play domination on one map in particular, whoever spawns on the correct side will be pretty much guaranteed a win because of the advantage you get in position. The maps have got boring very quickly and most of them are catered for sniping with too many large open areas.

2- For me BF1 has the worst progression/unlock system of any battlefield I've played. It's so easy to unlock nearly all of the guns, and then there's a huge gap in level before you can unlock the Level 10 guns, which are basically the best guns in the game. I understand it's world war 1 and there wasn't quite the arsenal available that we have now, but the way they've done it is really poor.

The shooting mechanics are pretty good and in general the game plays well with not many bugs/glitches. It's just the longevity that this game lacks and it really disappointed me. The Premium subscription is also a real let down. Gamers' don't want to pay £50 for half a game on release and then be asked for another £40 to get the rest of it. I really hope there is an end to paid DLC in the next battlefield, it splits the community and eventually you'll end up with less players because of it.

a shooter that's not crazy rage inducing or boost jumping everywhere this game is a fun more addictive than candy crush story might be too short but it didn't mean I did have a blast in it the most saddest Wonder was a runner and made me cry for a whole day overall Battlefield is a really good game

Trust me i don't write reviews unless i absolutely feel the need to and this is one of them times!

I've had this game for a while and I loved the single player campaign, I went online after having the game for months just sitting there. Now I know why I haven't played that mode much...its extremely frustrating! if you are not into sniping don't play this game! you will not get as many

Now I know why I haven't played that mode much...its extremely frustrating! if you are not into sniping don't play this game! you will not get as many kills as these vets on here, and I don't care how long you try and play to get better you will continue to feel frustrated....
for 1.. I do love the map sizes and everything but they made it so you cant see an enemy standing right in front of you; basically bcus the enemy matches the landscape and everybody and their mother wants to snipe...me being an avid COD player I'm kinda use to run and gun w/ a lil sniping from time 2 time .. this game forces you to duck and hide especially if your a noob

2.. being that everyone is sniping from FARRRRR distances youre going to die countless times from ppl that you never seen, thats not really fun, and then sometimes it feels like I'm shooting and shooting and shooting getting hits only for the person be able to turn right around and kill me with one or two shots! VERY FRUSTRATING!

One time i was tracking this guy with my COD skills got him in a corner, ran up on him and knifed him BUT bcus he was ducking in the corner I missed him and he shot me and I died! smh I found that disgustingly bad! I don't care how much of a noob I am, THAT WAS A KILL! I mean I do play fps games

Its just too many times where I felt over matched or as if I couldn't hit the side of a barnyard with any gun I had for the match.. Run right up on a dude thats not looking I still have to stop and aim bcus I cant get a clear shot, and in those valuable seconds doing that I usually get sniped by someone that seen me from wayyyyyyyyy across the map... I'm trying to like this game but multiplayer is making it hard 2 enjoy some kills, its forcing me to go back and play COD (AW) while I love the realism of this game, and thats what keeps me coming back... I hate jetpacks and stuff so thats what drew me back to this game after playing the campaign, but I think I'm ready to go back to my jetpacks now

    -Gorgeous graphics
-The new behemoths are a nice addition to the game.
-Skilled players can rape the noobs so you don't need to worry about COD migrators like in other BF games.
    -Dynamic weather makes it realistic.
-No more knife-countering like in BF4
    Cons
-Too much clown fiesta in smaller maps (Argonne Forest and Amiens specifically)
    -Short campaign.
-Not too much variety in weapons, about 3 variants per weapon.
    -Glitches
    -Shotguns being OP.
    -Grenade spam ****
-If you were a fan of TDM and Rush in previous games then **** you I guess, all the player base are basically playing Operations and Conquest.
-Auto-resupplying grenades and gadgets (magnet for casual COD toddlers)

There is much more into the game but you have to figure that out for yourself, buy the game, build a squad with some friends at you will have great times.

Battlefield, we meet again. Dice have returned to the fold and produced a game that is more fitting for the Battlefield franchise. The two previous games (Hardline and Battlefront) left a lot to be desired but thankfully Dice have sorted most of the mistakes made in those games.

First impression, it’s a really good looking game and plays quite smoothly. They have focused on the single player to give a good story with a couple of unique(ish) concepts. Online is awesome as usual.

    Pros:
Campaign is one of the better one that they have produced.
First level of campaign is different than usual (just play it)
World War 1 setting is a nice change of environment and weapons.
Lots of weapons to choose from.
Weapons are fairly balanced for the most part situational).
Most the online maps are pretty good, offering different styles of play.
Vehicles are not op unless used wisely

    Cons:
Limited customisation (due to the time period).
Some campaign levels are a bit slow and generic.
Unable to edit loadouts unless in-game or on the app.
Battlepacks seems a bit pointless, especially for micro-transactions.
Can sometimes be spawn trapped by good teams.
Behemoth’s are a bit useless, especially if the driver isn’t good.
Some online maps get bogged down with sniper glints.
Quitting online games can be different.
Load time when first entering an online game.

Just like the other battlefields. Great way they created WW1 into a MMOG. They did sacrifice some realism for "better multiplayer" but overall its a great cinematic and overwhelming fight between two massive armies. And the DLC looks promising... unlike battlefront.

What can I say? I have been suckered into the past 3 battlfields even though I vowed I wouldn't after bf3. Have played battlefield since the beginning, Even shelled out 80 bucks for the "deluxe" edition or whatever which really just DICE's fancy way of polishing a turd. So let's get this over with shall we?
    Pros-
Excellent graphics -Sound Effects -Good albeit short single player

    Excellent graphics
    -Sound Effects
    -Good albeit short single player
    Cons-
    -Historical inaccuracies(look at the weaponry)
-Social Justice Warror BS gaming (I am not racist but Black guys on every squad? you have to play the muslim Ottomans? you coudln't have thrown france in there or Austria?)
-SLOW and I mean SLOW XP GAIN-let me get on that. It's like Ubi Soft's Rainbow six siege. The idea is to give you the smallest amount of XP possible per match. Why you might ask? So you spend real money(awful micro transactions on XP boosts and other items. I find it appalling that as I looked in the upper right hand corner I see time to next level-2 hours when the matches are at least 25 minutes a piece.
-Battle packs-Play over 4 hours of matches to get maybe one battle pack-which you don't even really need anyway..you can scrap the battle packs for in game currency (most of the time it is only worth 30) to buy other items. Or if you have money and want to spend it you can buy the battle packs..hell they even have the short cut packs now which they started in BF3. Now a days EA has the model when 60 bucks doesn't get you the game anymore they want you to spend 150..I got the deluxe edition which gave me two skins a skin for a titan fall and some weapons that i coulda bought in game for 200 currency in game..Ridiculous..EA sucks.Ea Destroys everything it touches look at Bioware!
They won't be getting anymore of my money

EA and DICE have done an amazing job bringing something fresh to the table in picking WW1 as the game's theme. Multiplayer is probably the best thing aspect of the game, and the well-built maps and cool game modes will keep me coming back to Battlefield 1 for the coming months.

There is no game that is able to deliver such an immersive war atmosphere and a multiplayer experience on such a massive scale like Battlefield 1.

With many games feeling hampered by a desire to try and blend authenticity with sensationalism, Battlefield 1 is a hell of a lot of fun – a visual powerhouse and a fine return to form for DICE that’s sadly hampered by stretches of extreme frustration caused by the studio’s desire to take one step too many into the past.
