    A Matter of Family is an admirable attempt to bring a playable version of Batgirl into the Arkham fold but noticeable technical issues, severe narrative inconsistencies, and a main story that literally goes nowhere drag it down from the lofty heights of greatness.

    While A Matter of Family may be worth it for hardcore Batgirl fans, WB will have to do a lot better than this to justify the cost of the pass.

    Batgirl: A Matter of Family has a decent story, an impressive setting, and some respectable brawls and Predator fights, but it’s all so disappointingly brief and self-contained.

    What had the potential to be a great piece of DLC, is instead an all-too brief episode of missed opportunities and squandered potential starring a great heroine who deserves far better.

    Batgirl is a great character against a great villain: Joker. But this DLC is disappointing: Short experience, no replay value and a lack of relevant new mechanics and additions.

    A Matter of Family had a lot of potential, but a short runtime and rather routine gameplay keep it from standing above Batman: Arkham Knight's other short and middling DLC episodes.

    At roughly 90 minutes long I was hoping it would be a little longer since its going to be one of the few story DLC in the season pass. HoweverAt roughly 90 minutes long I was hoping it would be a little longer since its going to be one of the few story DLC in the season pass. However I did enjoy those 90 minutes. I have always wanted to play as Batgirl in the Arkham games and she is suitably badass. The environments were well made and the combat is of course up fantastic and satisfying.… Full Review »

    Not more than a month after the release of anticipated but otherwise moderately received, Batman: Arkham Knight, Warner Brothers did notNot more than a month after the release of anticipated but otherwise moderately received, Batman: Arkham Knight, Warner Brothers did not spare, the opportunity to pump out Arkham Knights first DLC expansion as fast as they could entitled, "A matter of family" The DLC could more easily relate to the title of "A matter of kicking the dead horse". Presented as a prequel to the events of Arkham Asylum, a matter of family suits you into the cape and cowl of Batgirl......for at-least hour and a half give or take. As you glide around a confined area with little to no replay-ability, in a less than satisfactory plot, rescuing hostages and of course taking down the Joker in one of the most anti-climatic endings ever with a nod as to what is latter on to happen. What drags the game down is not only its lack of length but sub par voice acting particularly with the DLC's main protagonist, Batgirl voiced by Ashley Greene who had come to replace Kimberly Brooks from former games lacking the tone, wit and independence Brooks brought to the role changing the character, entirely lacking personality in a worn performance, the characters are now best to be left forgotten, not even Hamill could save this train wreck with the very few joker lines he had been presented with. Game-play wise the DLC plays straightforward lacking customization and different ways to handle situations playing more like a handheld tutorial for most of the game, treating you as though you were too stupid to learn the basics of combat from the base game or earlier titles,However this could all be related to getting the player to use the new hacking feature in which you can now use situational hazards to stun enemies, however the concept falls shorts as most encounters when you will need to use hacking are scripted and would be more efficient in those that are not if you made use of your already acquired skills from the base game.Overall the DLC like the game is visually impressive and combat still flows well but you cant help but feel as though you have been cheated yet again.… Full Review »
