    This game is a 10 for me, put the past week straight into this and just can't put it down. The atmosphere, the writing, the lead characters, even the people you do missions for all have some significance and their own charm. Even the more threatening Templar characters have likable qualities.The gameplay is spot on, best of any AC title to date. Best of all, it's all optional. Stealth killing is better suited to Evie while heavy combat is Jacob's forte. I love every moment I've spent and look forward to 100% completing this awesome, awesome game. 10/10 from me - a HUGE Witcher 3, MGSV and soon to be Fallout 4 fan.… Expand

    Assassin's Creed Syndicate is quite likely my favorite Assassin's Creed title to date. Gone is the terrible mess that was Unity, for Syndicate truly learned from its mistakes. The climbing can still be somewhat unresponsive, and the grand open world suffers from a small amount of visual hiccups, but overall, Syndicate improves upon the rest.

    The Frye twins are by far the most    Assassin's Creed Syndicate is quite likely my favorite Assassin's Creed title to date. The climbing can still be somewhat unresponsive, and the grand open world suffers from a small amount of visual hiccups, but overall, Syndicate improves upon the rest.

    The Frye twins are by far the most interesting and lovable characters of the bunch, but the side characters are incredibly likable none the less. Along with more fleshed out motives and a largely amusing story, Syndicate gives its side objectives a lot of depth, allowing you to tackle them in different ways.

    From rescuing child laborers to hunting down a Templar leader, London is filled with tons of activities and collectibles, making traversing the city more fun than it ever was. The addition of carriages and the line launcher further improve upon the traversal aspect of the series, yet these do take some getting used to when you're used to the previous installments.

    In terms of performance, Syndicate is also a leap above Unity. The gameplay no longer stutters, even when you enter more crowded area's like train stations and markets, and the amount of glitches has also been greatly reduces. Some other users complained about truly game-breaking errors, yet I have not encountered any in my ten hours with the game thus far.

    Despite taking place during the Industrial Revolution, Syndicate never feels as if the elements were just tossed in for the sake of having them. Trains and boats allow you to traverse the city more quickly, for example, whereas concealed weapons, improved disguises and a whole bunch of other features make Syndicate's discreet take on the series a new standard.

    Is it flawless? No, there are still some issues that remain present, but look past these minor flaws, and you will get to discover London like no previous game let you discover any city. It's big, beautiful and brutal, but most importantly, it's the most fun you can have on a next-gen system.    … Expand

    This is quite simply the best Assassin's Creed game since 4 and I can say that without a doubt this is the best open world of the series. Victorian era London is perfectly portrayed and the team worked really hard on this open world, maybe a little too hard (they could have focused more on improving the main story).     Good,fun and hardly any bugs. Overall a good entry to the series. however the massive city does sometimes feel a little to big. Although unlike unity there is something to do in all parts.

    People bashing this game need to give their heads a shake. This version of AC is brilliant, yes not perfect, I have seen a couple of glitches but nothing to halt my enjoyment of the game.

    To be honest I don't leave too many reviews on here but I feel I need to in this instance to counteract the absurd people giving it ZERO!! ZERO????? WTF!!! This game has been in production for over 3    People bashing this game need to give their heads a shake. This version of AC is brilliant, yes not perfect, I have seen a couple of glitches but nothing to halt my enjoyment of the game.

    Massive, Massive improvement over that crapfest that was Unity. The characters are well written, familiar gameplay mechanics such as the whistling and being able to pick up bodies is back, the story has clever links to the story of the other AC games, the modern day is better and actually goes somewhere (albeit the ending is absolute wank) and the side missions are implemented well intoMassive, Massive improvement over that crapfest that was Unity.     This is 1st class entertainment! I waited 1 week before writing this review to give this game to give it deeper thought. AC: Syndicate is a awesome game and it was a real pleasure to play it. Art direction, level design, character development, voice actors - they all come together created perfect Assassin's Creed adventure.     Now, the story is engaging but not too serious or deep as in previous titles but it fits perfectly in the AC canon.
    Mechanics are much improved, movement is on the spot most of time - no complaints there. Side missions are now interesting (not all of them but majority). Addition of zip line makes this game much more dynamic and easy to travel between roofs. The carriages are awesome, missions gives you feeling of accomplishment if you achieve optional objectives.
    Fights on moving ships are existing and finally this game wants you to move on, go back and play it.

    There is nothing to dislike about this game - this is as perfect as AC game can be and I still hold sentiments towards AC: Black Flag but this is different beast all together. Highly recommended!    … Expand

    I am by no means an Assassin’s Creed veteran, having played only Black Flag and Unity before Syndicate. But even having previously played only those two, I can’t help but believe that Ubisoft knocked it out of the park with this title! Of the three, this is by far my favorite! There are so many new and really cool aspects of Syndicate that they can’t all be described in a single review,I am by no means an Assassin’s Creed veteran, having played only Black Flag and Unity before Syndicate. But even having previously played only those two, I can’t help but believe that Ubisoft knocked it out of the park with this title! Of the three, this is by far my favorite! There are so many new and really cool aspects of Syndicate that they can’t all be described in a single review, but here are some of the highlights:

    As with Unity, the open world in Syndicate is impressively expansive, probably more so than in Unity. To overcome the sheer fatigue that would have come with having to run everywhere in such a massive space (which was one of the many reasons I wasn’t crazy about Unity), Syndicate introduces the ability to commandeer horse-drawn carriages. This makes getting around MUCH easier and faster, and even makes for some interesting missions and activities. And to make it even more user-friendly, anytime you take control of a carriage with either a mission objective or a location on the map selected, a white line on the road itself and on the mini-map directs you where to go, making navigation a delightful breeze!

    Another of my favorite features of the game is the new rope launcher. This handy device allows you to stand next to a building, launch the rope to the top of the building with a single button, and get quickly jettisoned to the top. If you felt like you spent half the game in previous versions endlessly climbing buildings, you will love this! In addition, once you are on an elevated surface, you can use the rope launcher to zip line from one rooftop location to another. The aiming for the rope launcher tends to be a bit wonky at times, but I think the game designers did the best they could without making it overly complicated to use. All in all, it is a fabulously cool little device and a great addition to the game!

    Combat is noticeably different in Syndicate. You frequently have more than one adversary to fight at a time, and the game now allows (requires, really) you to use different techniques to alternate between fighting multiple foes at a time. This takes a little getting used to, and it does make combat a tad more difficult than it was previously. But once you get the hang of it, it is an exciting part of gameplay. There are combination moves available while fighting, but I’ve found them to be rather cumbersome and unreliable (especially when fighting multiple enemies, which happens quite often). The few times I’ve seen them in action is when I’ve performed them unintentionally, and I’ve unsuccessfully tried to use them on several occasions.

    As with other titles, Syndicate offers “side missions” (objectives outside the main memory sequences) which allow you to gain territory, loot, money, and reputation rewards. I never really got into them much in the past, but you pretty much have to in this version in order to take advantage of all of the available game content. The upside is that they seem more fun to play this time around and more integrated with the game as a whole. Missions involving assassinations, kidnappings, rescuing children, and defeating bosses grant territory, while others such as hijacking cargo, robbing trains, participating in fight clubs, and racing grant crafting resources and money. There are also two extended memory sequence series, one led by Charles Darwin and the other by Charles Dickens, that grant money and unlock gear.

    The game is played through the eyes of either Jacob Frye, or his twin sister, Evie Frye. You can easily switch between the two while in the open world and not currently engaged in an activity. Some of the main memory sequences require you to be one or the other and will automatically switch you when you start the sequence, if necessary. Jacob and Evie share the same pool of money and crafting resources, so when you spend money or resources as Jacob, the remaining amount also goes down for Evie. Most weapons and gear can be used “simultaneously” by either Jacob or Evie (meaning that if you equip a certain weapon/piece of gear with Jacob, you can also equip it with Evie when you switch to her).

    They way that new skills are acquired has been completely revamped. You are now rewarded skill points for completing activities and performing various maneuvers. Skill points are used to acquire new skills in three skill “trees,” where fundamental skills are pre-requisites for more advanced skills. Each of the three skill trees has a main focus: one for combat, one for stealth, and one for ecosystem (which refers to skills not aligned with either combat or stealth, like carriage handling, etc.). As you acquire skill points, you decide which skills—and which skill trees—you want to acquire. This means that your character can have more of a combat, stealth, or ecosystem focus, or any combination thereof. Jacob and Evie each have their own separate skill tree, so each character can have different skills. There are three skills (1 combat, 2 ecosystem) that only Jacob can obtain, and three (all in stealth) that only Evie can obtain. As you obtain skills, your character’s level increases (to a maximum of 10 when all skills have been obtained). The game does a really great job of making sure that both Jacob and Evie accrue skill points at the same rate, regardless of which one you happen to be playing. This prevents you from playing one character enough to level it up and then having to go back to the other character and start all over at a low level.

    There are quite a few “THANK GOD” changes that are apparent in Syndicate: Gone are the often buggy and mostly useless online multi-player sequences that were present in Unity. Lock picking is now much easier and much less annoying, and locked chests aren’t as prevalent. Public places and streets aren’t nearly as absurdly congested with pedestrians as they were in Unity, making getting around much less aggravating. And, everyone speaks English!

    No game is perfect, however, and I do have a very small number of very minor complaints. The first is, and always has been, helix rifts. Why? Yes, I know you can purchase things with them in the e-store, but the number of helix rifts required to purchase even the cheapest item with rifts is nowhere near the time and aggravation it takes to accumulate them. Many rifts now require use of the rope launcher to capture, and way too many are impossibly difficult to obtain. The map is a little easier to read, but for some reason the icons for shops and chests are infinitesimally small and hard to discern. The load time after requesting a quick travel seems to be longer than ever. And finally, too many of the optional objectives that are available for extra loot and experience points while playing memory sequences are entirely too difficult, or it’s completely unclear how to accomplish them.

    All in all, though, Ubisoft did a fantastic job with this release! It’s graphically impressive, gameplay is immersive and fun, it’s stable, and it’s intuitive (for the most part). I’m coming up on the end of the game, and as with the other AC titles I’ve played, I wish that it would just keep going and going. Given that each AC title tends to follow its predecessor chronologically based on real-world history, I can’t wait to see when, where, and under what circumstances the next release will take place…    … Expand

    There are two main characters are are awesome in this game: Evie Frye and the city of London. A good and interesting new episode on AC series. Haters are gonna hate, and AC fans are gonna love. Xbox version is beautiful.

    Assassin's Creed Syndicate features a solid campaign, elevated by challenging assassination missions and a spellbinding setting. Syndicate delivers all of the innovations I had hoped to see from Unity, which was the franchise's first new-generation console entry, as the adjustments to combat, stealth, and travel breathe new air into the series.

    This game is the best action-adventure open world and is one of the best from its franchise and great improvement from its previous titles in game-play style. The revolutionary city and historical characters introduced in this game is absolutely stunning and expect Ubisoft to continue developing such great titles.

    The game is great, don't listen to the hate.

    The Good:
    - The new grappling hook makes traversing the map much quicker.
    - The fight club is an absolute blast
    - Having two protagonists is a nice touch
    - Good variety of side missions/minigames

    The Bad:
    - Only 3 weapon types
    - The tranny feels forced and unnecessary
    - Character customisation isn't as good as Unity

    I am the biggest assassins creed fan and I know this is an amazing game. I have all the main games not including cool side games like liberation but I've got to say this was incredible even unity in my opinion was great

    My favorite Assassin's Creed by far. It is beautiful, the combat is good, the parkour works very well, and it has an amazing plot. The characters are not the most interesting, but they are still good and don't ruin the game at all. The rope launcher is fun to use and explore London with. The open world is super fun to roam and is well made. I highly recommend this game.

    I have played Syndicate for only a few hours on Xbox One. I can tell already the engine runs a lot smoother than Unity. Great graphics, fun gameplay. This is the best Creed since Black Flag. Anyone who is a fan of Assassin's Creed will enjoy this game.

    You can freely switch back and forth between the 2 to complete tasks around the city and to free roam, but each is unique in their ability and have their own specific story missions to give you a feel for both.
    There is a very simple skill tree and leveling system here, but Jacob and Evie only have a few unique skills, such as Evie having the ability to go invisible while in sneak mode, which I found no use for at all in the main campaign considering the majority of the story’s quests belongs to Jacob.
    Jacob specializes in combat compared to evies stealth.
    He wants to rile up a gang and take control of London.
    Gaining control is really where the different character styles can come into play,
    I found myself looking to Evie to free the children in factories., for everything else I just stuck to Jacob.
    There are technically a variety of tasks here such as bounty hunts where you kidnap a target or kill them and take them in for a reward, Templar hunts where you’re tasked with killing a or 2 Templar enemies, and strongholds where you just clear them out.
    I appreciate the child liberation missions because they give a sense of time beyond the themes and skins, but for the most part there’s nothing special about these side activities. It’s the same thing we’ve got year after year since Brotherhood but with new names.
    After you’ve done all activities in a section of the map a gang leader challenges you and then you take on a rival gang to finally claim the section for your own.
    As you progress through the story you’ll also be able to do train robberies and steal cargo, these tasks are important because Syndicate also feature an annoying quote un quote crafting system.
    Its fairly easy to get money in syndicate from main missions and your vault, but its super annoying to have so much and not be able to spend it because you don’t have the needed materials, so your only choice is go do a boring mission or purchase a material pack with real life money.
    You can’t buy weapons or items from a store, you can only craft them.
    This obviously was put into the game to take advantage of people only interested in the fun aspects of assassin’s creed. And escorting cart after cart isn’t it.
    Speaking of carts, there are now horse drawn carriages you can hijack and ride around the city, very fun to play around with and makes traversing the city much faster I only used fast travel 2 or 3 times in my entire time playing, that’s how much I loved riding through London smashing things.
    If you want to stick to feet, there’s another tool introduced, the grappling hook.
    It’s been apparent that assassins creed has been chasing batman with the past 2 entries, no spoilers, but there was clear penguin influence in last year’s game with one villain, and there’s clear joker influence in this year’s game with another,, and here we are with the ability to grapple our way out of a stick situation, or zip line from building to building and create our own air assassination opportunities, however the grappling hook doesn’t work quite as good as one would hope.
    Maybe I’m spoiled by batman, but I’m not a fan of searching for a prompt before I can use my hook, I want to be able to just press the button and go... sometimes this does work that way, but a lot of the time you’re awkwardly waiting for you to zip out of there and nothing happens.
    Sometimes you’ll look up at edges and a prompt just won’t show up... I was skeptical of this tool at first, but came to love and appreciate it... it does need some work though,
    Speaking of needing work the campaign.
    The story in syndicate is decent, but the delivery of this story, not so much…

    Every main Assassin’s Creed Game has a special moment, a special introduction to a character and their development as an assassin.
    Assassins Creed Syndicate dives right in, it treats Jacob and Evie Frye like we’ve gotten other games with them, as if they are developed and well known character, but they aren’t, we know nothing other than they are twins, you get a sense of their sibling rivalry throughout the game, but a prologue into the characters would’ve made me care for these characters.
    Any sort of character development at all to be honest would be greatly appreciated,
    New characters can’t just be automatically established, it would be like starting the ezio trilogy with brotherhood
    It’s like meeting a friend of your friend at a party and told to hang out with them for 20 hours.
    They cry about their problems without giving you a reason to care.
    I didn’t at all.
    Not for a second did I care about these characters, or about London…
    I felt no urgency to do anything.
    This is the first time I’ve ever played an assassins creed game and not care of its outcome.
    However it was nice to see Assassins creed slightly inch its way back to what made it great and such a guilty pleasure to begin with.
    The team at ubisoft seem to actually be listening to fans, modern day is more prevalent this time and they even brought Desmond back! As a dog. But seriously, the modern day story is the best it’s been since Assassins Creed IV, still, nowhere near as good as it was in that game or the 5 games before it.
    There is a really neat section in this game that gives you more context to the modern day stuff but you aren’t even told about, you kind of have to find it for yourself…
    It’s almost like they are embarrassed of their modern day story ties… its like modern day is their girlfriend and they wont accept her relationship request on facebook.
    But news flash ubisoft, the modern day is what gets people talking, it’s what brings us to your forums, it what gets people itching for more.
    If you want preorders, you need to up your game in this department or you risk losing your diehard fans to casuals that may or may not buy because cool 1868 brand theft auto.
    Campaign missions have greatly improved though.
    In terms of variety, this is the best we’ve gotten since assassins creed 3.
    No 2 missions felts the same, but all were lacking power. There were no epic moments in this game... not. Even. 1. Mission variety is important, but even Assassins Creed IVs tail mission after tail mission campaign was more enjoyable due to the pure epic moments that game delivered,
    the camping felt stale…
    Optional objectives are still here, and are getting better and better... but they need to be ditched.
    Someone needs to tell the people at ubisoft that optional objectives aren’t fun.. Oh wait... everyone does... every year... and they don’t listen.
    Why such an emphasis on stealth for a brute?
    For a game about assassinating, there are way too many don’t kill anyone objectives, sure that’s fine since we can knock enemies out, but let the player choose to handle the situation this way if they choose.
    Optional objectives are no better than annoying grading systems.
    I love that if you mess up enemies now run rather than you getting desynced, but seeing a red box flash across your screen nullifies this illusion of freedom.
    If micro transaction filled leveling systems can make sense in this universe, so can a lack of optional objectives. I’m even fine with desyncs for being detected every once in a while and stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent may be an awesome quote, but it doesn’t make for awesome gameplay. I was given awesome tools to stealthfuly take out enemies, and then I’m told not to use them. All in all, Assassins Creed Syndicate is an enjoyable time, but nothing special. Assassins Creed Unity had me excited for the future, but syndicate seemed to take a few steps back. For what it is Action Adventure Stealth 8/10 overall 8.5/10    … Expand

    Most of the handful of glitches where patched up this morning, Buyer Beware of all the Troll reviews trying to bring down a Great Game. A zero should only be given to games that are practically unplayable because of glitches, very poor controls, etc, but these Trolls give it because its a Series they don't like. WTH???

    The general gameplay has been a real plus for me. The climbing still isn't perfect but 9 times out of 10    This is the Assassins Creed game made for the fan of early titles. It is much closer in feel to Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Revelations than it is to anything since AC3. So far I have experienced no glitches and the frame rate has remained steady for the time I have been playing.

    The general gameplay has been a real plus for me. The climbing still isn't perfect but 9 times out of 10 I do what I want to do which is a much better percentage than any of the previous game. The combat is more of the same- just looks smoother so is still fun. However it is the things like the grappling hook which make it for me. One thing I have found AC has missed since Revelations was fun gameplay mechanics like the parachute or hook blade and the grappling hook adds that dimension of simply fun gameplay which I feel the series has been sorely needing.

    The story is good- not ground breaking amazing but it is good. I especially like the use of two protagonists. Jacob Frye on his own definitely has the potential to piss you off with his cocky antics (the way I found often found Edward insufferable) but he is balanced out nicely by Evie who is much more humble- Ezios personality in Brotherhood probably describes her best.

    The atmosphere is well created. It feels like industrial revolution London should- bustling streets that are a mix of old and new architectural styles combined with the mandatory steam powered machinery of the age. I thought things like horse/cart's in the streets, steam engines and boats on the Thames would draw away from what Assassins Creed has always been but they have implemented it very well.

    The graphics are nice. Honestly not an area I care too much about (I still find the original Assassins Creed looks gorgeous)- give me a steady frame rate and I am happy but it does look very nice.

    Basically good job Ubisoft. You mucked up Unity but you have brung it back with a very solid entry worthy of the Assassins Creed name.    … Expand

    I love all the people still on the "Let's hate assassin's creed bandwagon" This game is amazing. It rivials the likes of AC2. We have good protaganists, two good stories and a giant beautiful world to explore. Everyone is complaining about things that aren't there. The game isn't as buggy as Unity so stop saying that it is, and actually play it before you give it a 0

It reminds me of AC 2 and Brotherhood but with many improvements. There are a lot of fun side quests to do, and the story is great so far.     In all honesty I never thought Unity was too bad in terms of content. It was however a technical nightmare. Thankfully Syndicate has fixed this and is finally in the era I've always wanted the franchise to go to and it certainly delivers ! Everything is a step up and London is portrayed really well. Don't miss Syndicate !

    Not a perfect game by any means but a solid entry after the misstep of Assassin's Creed Unity. Assassin's Jacob and Evie Frye are the most likeable heroes we've gotten since the legendary Ezio. There are some small glitches here and there but nothing to ruin the fun that this game brings

In that time, I'm sure that some of the more major bugs were fixed, so I'm not going to comment on the state of the game on release day. Instead, I think that this game was an amazing improvement from the failure that was Unity. In two and a half consecutive hours of play, I have seen not only a lack of bugs, but also improved characters, interesting landscapes, and the beginnings of a fascinating story-line, both inside and outside of the memories.

    I feel like most of the hate that people are placing on this game is very unwarranted. It seems that a lot of that hate is coming from people who either could not get past AC III or could not let go of their grudge towards Ubisoft after the last botched game. I urge people to give this game a chance. Feel free to rent it first, although I'll bet that most who rent it will eventually buy the game for themselves. I highly recommend this game to anybody who has previously enjoyed the Assassin's Creed franchise at any point, regardless of their feelings towards Unity.     The fresh open world is incredible in both detail and scale, however some hours into gameplay and the streets began to appear largely identical. Being able to play as and level up the two protagonists to acquire a variety of new gear heavily compelled me to progress through the story, as opposed to just free roaming. The graphics are the best yet.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The control mechanics were at first overwhelming for me. However, the on screen prompts had me parkour'ing all over the city within ten minutes. This was my second attempt at playing an AC game - the first being AC II. I played AC II and hung it up in under an hour - controls were too frustrating and targeting was sloppy. THIS AC had me playing it thru to the end and spending the extra twenty hours to collect a whole butt-ton of the collectibles in the city. Simply parkour'ing around the city was a blast. I love how you're able to play a female character in this one - it was so badass to see Evie wailing on bad guys, leaping from building to building, and blowing up contraband! I also liked seeing the inclusion of a transgender character in the form of Ned Wynert. His story was handled very well and very respectfully. The voice acting, the character model, and his wardrobe and personality were great - certainly not a simple caricature of a trans man. If Ubisoft includes the ability to play a female character in the next entry, I will certainly be continuing on in this series.

    I'm giving it a nine rather than a ten because, like most Ubisoft games, the story is incredibly weak. The voice acting was nicely done! But the dialogue was atrocious. Just a string of cliches - and what's up with the twin's "splitting up" near the end? Was that a bid to create tension? Cuz I could have cared less. Maybe if it wasn't so heavy handed and the friction arriving at the eleventh hour, I would have been more invested in the twins disagreement. The entire "current time" story with the goddess in the machine was out of left field for me - perhaps because I wasn't familiar with the story up to this point? However, I loved the idea presented in that portion of the story(original race creating humans, transferring consciousness to synthetic hardware, alien relics, etc, etc).

    I'd love to see the weak story and dialogue corrected for the next AC. Even if not, I will be playing thru it if I can play as a lady assassin!    … Expand

    I'm going to be honest. I have not played every Assassin's Creed game and I am no expert. However, based off of playing through Black Flag, Unity, and now Syndicate, this game rises above the rest. It has the beauty of Unity while still keeping great game mechanics and fun of Black Flag. This game takes what Unity could have been and does it right, making it easier to control, addingI'm going to be honest. I have not played every Assassin's Creed game and I am no expert. However, based off of playing through Black Flag, Unity, and now Syndicate, this game rises above the rest. It has the beauty of Unity while still keeping great game mechanics and fun of Black Flag. This game takes what Unity could have been and does it right, making it easier to control, adding vehicles like carriages and a great progression system, where you can upgrade yourself (which is really two different people, with different skills and styles), your allies, aka the rooks which this game really optimized and made it easier to use your them and have them help you, instead of just getting lucky and finding some like in Unity.
    Another great pro is the side missions. In Unity, these would just give you a little bit of cash and were not fun and had no feeling or meaning, when in Syndicate you can help famous legends from this time like Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, and Alexander G. Bell. This isn't Unity where you randomly meet Napoleon and do 1 story mission and never see him again. Sometimes they are side missions, sometimes story missions and sometimes are to take control of the different parts of London, which I now realize has greatly improved from previous games.

    I'm reaching the end of my review, so stay in there. In Syndicate, you get to take control of different sectors of London in different parts. You get to move around this beautiful map with your rooks by foot, carriage or even train, which if I haven't mentioned yet, but once you conquer the fist sector, you get a freaking train that moves across London to different train stations from where you can manage all of your upgrades, cosmetics, and restock on ammo and supplies. It is always much more efficient just to fast travel to your destination, but sometimes I take the train because I feel more immersed when I do.
    If you were waiting for me to say something bad, there really isn't much to say. I still find the story telling a little hard to follow and am confused by basically what Assassins Creed is as a whole, as I just view it as an adventure in history, when some people see it as a fight against the Templars to save Humanity, which I don't really understand, which may sound bad but it is much less confusing the Unity were you randomly are transferred to 1940's Paris and climb up the Eiffel tower and shoot down German planes, which was very random and felt out of place.

    In summation this is a great game that is very pretty with pretty good story telling and excellent characters with a lot of fun.    … Expand

Арсенал протагониста также изменился - теперь главные орудия боя это кукри, трость и кастет, исходя из чего и боёвочка выглядит по-новому, хотя как по мне, фехтовальные поединки раньше были эффектнее. Прокачка всего боевого добра и способностей стандартная и не далеко ушла от той же Unity. Да, у нас теперь появляются на улицах приспешники и вместе с этим новая система улучшения скилов своей банды, но если честно лучше вкладываться в своего персонажа, при хорошей реакции и сопоставимом уровне соперника можно их укладывать десятками, а наши Грачи скорее нужны дабы отвлечь внимание в определенных миссиях. У аркхемского Бэтмена позаимствован тросомет, благодаря которому стало веселее перемещаться между домами. Гонки на каретах занятие тоже весьма забавное. Сюжет в меру интересный, но без особого восторга. Игрового процесса вместе с допами много, так что внезапно всё не оборвется, успеете всем насладиться, если конечно пойдет.     O jogo não é o melhor da saga, mas supera facilmente o Unity em desempenho, historia, os gráficos então um pouco inferiores para poder rodar mais liso nos consoles, espero mesmo que porte do pc venha ser bom, pois as especificações do ano passado foi muito pesada pra um pc mediano rodar. No fim Syndicate é bom jogo que vale a pena gastar um tempo principalmente para os fãs da franquia.

To me AC's story has always been about Abstergo, this is what AC is behind all of that history content and in the past 3 entries almost nothing happened. Ubisoft has to do something about it! The present story has always been so cool and wanting the player to play more and more to get further into the story but in the past three games its been a disappointment. I also dont like that Ubisoft gave up on crowd, chatacter type choice and come combat skills. But besides that it's a solid game worth buying    … Expand

    This Game has a good story, the side quests are good implemented in the game accept the bounty hunting how is really buggy. But the game it salve is good but it has no replay ability but this is ok because the game is good it is not bug free but better then Unity so I think Syndicate is the first step in the right direction.

In all the past games every enemy AIAfter the massive disappointment that was Assassin's Creed Unity, Ubisoft made massive improvements and what we got was the best Assassin's Creed since Black Flag. While the series does still suffer from its repetitive game play and the glitch every now and then Ubisoft has made many improvements that make you look past this for an enjoyable experience. In all the past games every enemy AI could be easily killed depending on your attack approach, this year Ubisoft added an RPG element where every boss and henchmen is harder to kill depending on their level. The game's protagonist Jacob and Evie Frye are the most interesting characters in the series since Ezio. London is such an amazing setting so rich in history during the industrial revolution just exploring will leave you with hours of enjoyment, my only criticism is they start of this game with this amazing mission that takes place on a train and that is literally 1 of only 2 moving train missions just so much wasted potential. The gang territories and gang battles are some of the best additions to the series, it gives a "Gangs of New York" feel to the game while also showing a side to human history most games don't cover. All in all Assassin's Creed Syndicate is a solid entry into the series this year, but there is still a lot of work to do to keep interest and Syndicate is a step in the right direction. 8/10.… Expand

    Had tons of fun with this game maybe a bit repetitive and the story could been much better and deeper sometimes I have no clue why I help some dudes. Actions starts directly without clearly explain why you need to do the stuff that you do. But I really enjoyed it.

The missions were a little repetitive but the likable main characters of Evie and Jacob pulled me through this. The gang system felt really good as a mechanic in the game as I enjoyed building up the gang territory and feeling as though I too was a Rook.

    I've been a fan of the Assassin's Creed games since the beginning. They won me over with their charm and engrossing gameplay, consistently improving and providing enough bang for the buck. However, the series seemed to peak with Brotherhood and has only gone downhill since. Even the much praised Black Flag, while a great game in its own right, wasn't really an AC game in my eyes. Unity was terrible. We all know what it did wrong and personally I told myself that I was done with the series completely after that waste of time. But, the allure of a new game set in Victorian London combined with the sale price over the holidays convinced me to give the folks at Ubisoft one more chance (any addict knows this feeling, just one more fix please!). So, does Syndicate live up to the glory days of the AC series? Yes and no, but it is the first legitimate entry in the series since AC3.

    Let's begin with the story, because it is surprisingly one of the biggest reasons to get the game. The main characters, the Frye twins, are both very like-able right from the start. They aren't incredibly deep, but neither was Ezio. They serve their purpose but also provide the game with something that's been lacking in recent AC games: charm. These are characters you can root for, they have great personality and fit into the spirit of how the assassins are supposed to be. The plot, while pretty basic AC fare, also doesn't get in the way or get bogged down in irrelevancy. The story of AC Syndicate does it's job then gets out of the way so you can play!

    Now for the gameplay, which is also vastly improved over Unity. Syndicate keeps the open world formula, dumping you in London with a bunch of icons scattered across the map for you to sort out. The warring factions in this game are gangs, so you have to take over the different sections of London for your gang as you progress through the story. Fair enough, we remember this from Brotherhood. The combat is also much improved, being more fast paced like the Batman games but still retaining a lot of the old elements. It feels right, is all I can say really. Another aspect they seem to have ripped from the Batman games is the grappling gun, which is incredibly hard to use correctly. It's a welcome addition and makes traversal a lot easier, but sometimes you'll have an easier time just climbing to where you need to go. It's not a catch all/use this mechanic all the time kind of thing like it is in the Batman games. The free-running system from Unity is back, which still frustrates me as I thought the mechanic was a lot easier in Brotherhood but it works well enough. A big problem with the gameplay is that it feels unfinished, the game should've been in development a little longer but this is what we've got.

    That last paragraph sounded very negative, but this is still a great game. One of the best additions is the carriage driving. When I heard about it I wasn't sure what point there would be to riding a horse driven carriage around London, but it's a lot of fun and reminds me of riding a horse around Italy in the good old days. It's also incredibly forgiving, I drive through the streets like a maniac crashing into other carriages and lampposts with no worries at all. The horses must be made of steel, because they don't seem to mind being mistreated and abused. Also praiseworthy is the stealth system, which is easy to use even if you are terrible at stealth. Throwing knives and poison darts are awesome to use and it's as much fun to find new ways to kill everyone around as it ever was in Assassin's Creed. The stealth ring borrowed from Metal Gear Solid 4 is a godsend and means you don't need to rely on eagle vision as much, though you can also tag enemies so they show up in red even when you leave eagle vision. Also, trains are awesome and in general the ways they use the "new" technology are very creative and fun.

    If you were burned by Unity like the rest of us and are on the fence about getting this thing, rest easy they've worked out most of the kinks and this is a very fun, genuine Assassin's Creed game. If you're new to the series then you're in the right place, this is a fine place to start. But, Assassin's Creed 2 is backwards compatible and it holds up very well for its age and is well worth going back to if you like what you see. Overall, I'd recommend getting Syndicate as it's a fun and engaging game. If you haven't played Unity: don't.

When I received the game, I was greeted with good introductory missionsAfter hearing the horror stories as well as witnessing the horrors of Unity, I wasn't expecting much at first. The brass knuckles, the grappling hook, the darts, the Rooks- all of it seemed revolutionary to me at the time. When I received the game, I was greeted with good introductory missions for the twins that made their roles very clear in the storyline. Later on, most missions were coherent to the story, the characters were likable and not very annoying, and the out-of-game storyline was in the storyline, but not heavily focused upon.
    However, a few things irked me. There were a few glitches here and there, yeah, but every game has its flaws. The glitches were far from the issue; what I disliked was the leveling system and the skill points. In my opinion, the leveling doesn't really fit at all. It seems forced and it later becomes a giant cash cow for Ubisoft. However, I've played other AC games prior to this one (Black Flag and Rogue), so that's my bias for it.
    The skill points really piss me off. The way you earn them is fair (1,000 XP = 1 skill point). That might seem like a lot, but remember- there are so many missions for you to do that a) have a decent XP payout and b) require you to kill rival gang members, who give you XP when you kill them. What's infuriating about the points is that they unlock 'skills'. Now, granted, there are 6 skills that (to my knowledge) were not in the game prior to this installment. Normally, though, these skills are obtained through a) normal gameplay and b) REGULAR IN-GAME MONEY prior to Syndicate. Typically, you had to work for these instead of having them practically being handed to you. These skills also make the skill points into Ubi's new cash crop.In the menu, you have the option of purchasing XP boosts so you can earn more XP to get the skills. XP gradually gets harder to find, so it's a smart marketing strategy as well as a stupid money-grab one. And how might you purchase these boosts? Through these things called Helix Points, which you find in-game in the form of glitches that are hard to locate. You can also buy Helix Points with actual, real-live money.
    The final thing that I don't really enjoy about Syndicate is the whole 'Season Pass' mentality. Compared to Black Flag, which has a whopping 80 hours of content, and Brotherhood, which has 24 hours of content, Syndicate has a mere 15 hours of content. For most games, that's a hell of a lot of play time, but for Assassin's Creed? That's disappointing. Where did the rest of the story go? Why, it went into the money machine in the form of Season Passes and DLCs, when it would ordinarily be a part of the main story.
    Just nostalgia that's killing me, that's all. And my old gam experiences.    … Expand

The map is beautiful, the feelings between the characters(Jacob and Evie) too, the missions are exciting and the history is good but not at all as other AC games, but something I didn't like at all were the antagonists, the reason is that they didn't really were organized, even if they took the most powerful city of the world of that time, I think they should put them a character a little bit like someone of the Borgia or the pazzi, but this game is amazing, the missions are full of challenges, you have to help to your people(the rooks and the citizens), but as said before the story is predictable, and the characters don't make you feel like as your were inside the game, but all the others things are amazing, or well, better than AC Unity.… Expand

    When the game starts at first it has the usual assassins creed tutorial mission and feels very linear like usual then once you finish the tutorial the whole city of London is then open to you to explore however you can't just go willy nilly around the city immediately as each different borough has different    WHATS UP YOU AMAZING PEOPLE!     I have never been a fan of the Assassin's Creed series but Syndicate won me over with two core areas, The amazing setting of Victorian era London and the awesome duo of Evie and Jacob Frye. The twins alone were enough to get me to stumble through learning the system and get rolling. The story left a little to be desired but the setting made up for it in my opinion. A decent amount of DLCI have never been a fan of the Assassin's Creed series but Syndicate won me over with two core areas, The amazing setting of Victorian era London and the awesome duo of Evie and Jacob Frye. The twins alone were enough to get me to stumble through learning the system and get rolling. The story left a little to be desired but the setting made up for it in my opinion. There is something about 1800's London that made the game so much fun, plus having missions based around Charles Dickens was great because he is my all time favorite author.     Those who love Assassin's Creed will find plenty to enjoy in this game. Fun characters, excellent combat, and 2 characters to offer more options for a gameplay style. This world feels alive in a way many previous games haven't had. Traversing the environment with the grappling hook is especially fun.

It was a really fresh experience for me, being able to tackle each challenge freely the way that i wanted and after playing more games of its kind it remains one of the better ones. The story was good although the ending was kind of a let off.     Pros:
    Both main characters are endearing on the whole. Evie was the first time, when given the option, I chose to play a female character....stealth all the way.

    Story, while draggy at times and not always on-point, is decent.

    Rope ladder/ dart can be a lot of fun.....standalone (see below)

    Side activities are the most varied and interesting they have ever been in an AC game....for me, this was the best part of the game.

    Cons:
    Really not a fan of playing 2 main characters....def an immersion fail....just bad.

    The addition of the rope dart/ladder, while fun on its own swinging around the city like spiderman, really takes from the game and is not why I play AC. To boot, the city was designed for this tool. Gone are the days when we would run rooftops.....on the whole, big fail for me.

    Possibly because of the rope ladder, the jumps in this game were really dumbed-down...I literally didn't miss 1 jump all game.....playing this was exactly like playing the last Tomb Raider (the current Tomb Raider is vastly superior).    … Expand

    Après le Paris révolutionnaire, voici le Londres industriel de 1868 et le changement est drastique en matière d'ambiance et d'atmosphère mais également en termes de nouveautés. Londres est une ville désespérément vilaine, surtout à cette époque, ce qui nous fait regretter le glamour et le charisme de la ville-lumière ; néanmoins, le jeu reste techniquement très bien fait et bien agréableAprès le Paris révolutionnaire, voici le Londres industriel de 1868 et le changement est drastique en matière d'ambiance et d'atmosphère mais également en termes de nouveautés. Londres est une ville désespérément vilaine, surtout à cette époque, ce qui nous fait regretter le glamour et le charisme de la ville-lumière ; néanmoins, le jeu reste techniquement très bien fait et bien agréable graphiquement.

    La Londres de cet AC est aussi une ville évidemment nettement moins peuplée et agitée avec beaucoup moins de pnj, de mouvements de foule et d'attroupements spectaculaires. Elle se rattrape par son trafic très important de carioles et autres voitures à canassons sans compter le flux maritime ininterrompu sur la Tamise : on peut traverser le fleuve rien qu'en sautant comme un cabri sur toutes les embarcations, barges, bateaux et navires d'un bout à l'autre !

    Si la maniabilité est extrêmement semblable à ACU, ACS propose un grappin bien pensé, rapidement indispensable pour crapahuter de toit en toit... On peut pester sur la caméra -terrible en milieux confinés- comme dans le précédent AC mais le parcours est globalement assez fluide. La jouabilité reste identique au précédent -avec le grappin en plus- et ne souffre certainement pas la critique en tout cas.

    De nouvelles activités très intéressantes ont fait leur apparition avec le détournements de chariots, les escortes de cargaison, les enlèvements de personnages, les libérations d'enfants et les guerres de gangs... On a également des courses de voitures mais l'IA triche beaucoup trop pour qu'on puisse en tirer quelque satisfaction. Des missions se déroulent aussi sur des tchoutchous mais ça reste anecdotique. On peut recruter au fur et à mesure de la libération de la ville jusqu'à 5 hommes de main, une aide assurément très utile mais pas autant que les assassins auxiliaires d'ACB puisqu'il faut d'abord à chaque fois leur faire signe.

    La campagne est partagée entre le frère et la soeur, le frère étant un bourrin, la soeur plus discrète via des compétences réservées ; en exploration libre, on choisit qui on veut et j'avoue que la petite Evy est l'un des avatars les plus réussis de la sempiternelle saga, mignonne mais indépendante. Le frérot est une tête à claques par contre.

    Le jeu est en français, pas en québécois comme l'AC parisien ! la musique est souvent inexistante mais cela vaut mieux, car elles s'avère vraiment ratée. La campagne ou plutôt l'espèce d'histoire qui la constitue est bateau et sans intérêt mais heureusement on peut zapper ces cinématiques ridicules. Elle reste cela dit bien fichue dans ses objectifs et sa variété. On regrettera une répétition certaine des activités et des repaires templiers pour libérer la ville, un défaut récurrent des Assassin's Creed...

    Et c'est sans compter le remplissage habituel de toutes les merdes à ramasser, coffres, lettres, bouquins, bugs hélix, affiches, boîtes à musique et j'en passe... (les putains de tours par exemple...). Du gros remplissage des familles donc et du farmage complétionniste très optionnel, car à part l'efficacité réduite de certains outils, rien ne nous empêche de buter ou d'assassiner des ennemis sensiblement supérieurs à notre niveau.

    Ce qui nous amène au combat, pas si mal implémenté ici mais qui repose beaucoup trop sur les combos à la con et la multitude de coups nécessaires, y compris dans les "coups de grâce" pour venir à bout des vilains. Alors, tout cela reste spectaculaire malgré des fenêtres de "contres" réduites, tout cela est fort rapide et furieux mais très en deçà du nouveau système de combat mis au point dans ACO.

    En résumé, Evy est sympathique et gracieuse mais l'histoire est lamentable et le combat toujours perfectible... ACS propose néanmoins une expérience de qualité et une ambiance étonnamment différente de son prédecesseur tout en préservant les acquis en matière de bonnes interface et maniabilité.    … Expand

    I thought this was a pretty fun game overall. Evie Frie is a great character, Jacob maybe a little less but is good enough. London is fun to explore. The gameplay is fun and graphics are good.

    First off I played this for the first time in 2023 on Xbox Series X.

    Here are the positives:
    - Best stealth in any AC game.
    - Graphics look great even in 2023.
    - The map! Industrial London in the fall is beautiful. The lighting is stellar and the city feels alive. Steam boats constantly move down the thames that you can run across, cranes move barrels and cargo, dozens of buggies and people darting everywhere constantly. It feels very lived in and well realized. Maybe the best world design of any AC game. Super immersive.
    - The capstone assassination mission design. The sequence ending assassination missions are all stellar (except the last which I am mixed on). They have multiple objectives many different routes and ways to unlock special cinematic assassinations through exploration. Easily the best set piece/level design in the series.
    - Jacob and Evie’s relationship is fun.
    - Descent humor.
    - A good amount of side content, not too much not too little.
    - Carriage driving and carriage chase sequences are sick!
    - I like the villain.

    Negatives:
    - Poor range of weapons and upgrades.
    - Lame perk tree.
    - the ending mission is way too linear and offers no freedom. The final boss has good mechanics and is very cinematic but aesthetically feels the same as unity’s final boss.
    - Repetitive side content.
    - Story progression locked behind side content.
    -Jacob and Evie while entertaining leads are deep as a puddle. There is something’s interesting their with their parents but it never goes further than “you sound like father!” Or “Father would have done it that way.” The relationship dynamic and history is NEVER unpacked. They are entertaining leads but not interesting leads.
    - Story feels disjointed.
    - Modern narrative is completely pointless and boring (worse than usual).
    - the gang mechanics are rarely useful and often the mission sub objectives deter you from wanting to use gang members.
    - A crappy romance.


    The game is good, and has some content that is the best the series has had, but the story and shallow characters bring it down for me.    … Expand

Both characters are fun to play, and it is nice having two characters to customize with one having a stealth build and the other a melee build.
    My second favorite part of the game was the option to drive carriages. This is a fun dynamic and it keeps me from fast traveling everywhere. Why fast travel when I can send the citizenry of London screaming for their lives as I inevitably drive on the wrong side of the road?
    The bad parts of this game can be summed up with one word, repetition repetition repetition repetition repetition repetition. The scenery, while nice for a couple of hours, seems as though it was copied and pasted from one area to the next, and I could never tell you where I was among all of the identical looking buildings and people and trees and carriages without looking at my map. The Thames is nice, but again only for a few minutes because one section of the Thames is exactly like every other inch of the Thames.
    Maybe London was actually built this way, and maybe it really did have no variety compared to Paris or the Caribbean or a fledgling US, but as a game it was horribly annoying that everything looks the same. If this was trying to be historically accurate then they should have moved more things indoors or had locations out on the English countryside. There is a lot to go through in this game, but when every mission and every building and every person is the same it just gets really, really old.
    I know that AC games have traditionally used few character models over and over again, but in this one it really stood out. Looking into a group of 20 enemies and seeing 4 faces really takes you out of the game. Could they not have even changed up their clothing or given them different hats to make it a bit more subtle? Even end bosses and assassination targets are pulled from the same half dozen character models, so that when you "identify" your target instead of having interesting information you just say "yeah yeah yeah, him again."
    Another problem with the "liberation" missions, which make up the vast majority of side missions, is that while different on their face, when it comes down to it they are all exactly the same. First, kill everyone, second, complete whatever the goal of your mission is. After everyone is dead you may have to walk around and click B by a group of kids to set them free, or maybe after everyone is dead you press B by your "target" to kidnap him and walk painstakingly slowly with him to a carriage before driving to your destination, or maybe you kill all but one person, find the "Blighter Plans" and press B to burn them before killing the final person. By the end of the game I was just killing my kidnapping targets to get it over with, with 100% synchronization not being a goal for the first time in my long Assassins Creed history. Aside from the Liberation missions, every other mission ends up being pretty much exactly the same as the Liberation missions, with the added bonus of "protect your idiot target".
    Maybe, just maybe, if the stealth road were not so easy, the game would be more interesting, but the AI is so insanely stupid that the game is pitifully easy as a result. Kill thug A and thug B with a knife, thug C and D and E walk over to look at the dead bodies, kill thug C and D and E with a knife, your kidnap victim walks over, looks at the bodies, and apparently says to himself "Hmmmm, everyone seems to be dying of these odd throwing knives in their skulls, I will think this over a while while I pace my usual rounds." Often the side quest for completion is "Do not sound the alarm bell", which is a staple of AC games, but in this one you can have a pile of bodies around the alarm bell, another person will walk up, inspect the bodies, and then go about their business instead of ringing the freaking bell. How about a game where the enemies freak out when one of their number turns up dead beside them? That would have gone a long way to fixing what is wrong with this game.
    All in all I could not bring myself to give the game less than 6, though I keep finding myself playing Fallout 4, which I beat a long time ago, for the 4th or 5th playthrough to break up the monotony of AC Syndicate. The free running is beautiful, but has been made so easy that there is no challenge. The scenery is great for individual screenshots, but gets old fast. The characters are fun and interesting, but are stuck in a story that is not. All in all if I had never played this game I would not have missed much.    … Expand

    Solid meh, the game is ok but piss easy with the combat and stealth and the story felt boring. The grapple did feel great to use but the game is too big and you have to rely on the thing way too much game does look pretty tho.

    Once again the future setting is getting pushed to one side and the game devs continue to listen to the casual gamer who demand "instant action" rather than the real fan base who fell in love with the games lore and want to have both an interesting "present day" reason to be invested in the story which gives a foundation as to why the player keeps needing to go back in to the animus.

    London setting is beautiful and has a very unique look and feel but I cant help but think that if only the game had more time then it would elevate the setting from looking nice to actually being incredible.

    As usual as this is a triple A game and more importantly this is a Ubisoft game, there is the usual season pass and mission add on's which all feel cut out of the main game and sold back to you.
    Whats worse is that if you purchase the season pass you characters get an XP boost that someone who doesn't buy the season pass doesn't get and so will face a much harder grind for money and materials which feels really unfair.

    Now that AC is being given a year off and will unlikely be a yearly release, this may reinvigorate the franchise and get things back on track that had sadly gone of the rails since the ending of AC3.    … Expand

The grappling hook is a great addition to the arsenal but it was kinda needed for all the traveling you had to do in London, just freeruning would get boring and monotonous. Comparing it to unity It's defiantly better, but its not the best it could be. All in all I'd say save your money, its not worth the full price the story isn't ground breaking and it wont leave you wanting more.… Expand

My problem is with the gameplay and depth to their games. They need to focus on the details, adding a cover system (like tom clancy games), adding a 3 position system (prone, crouch, and standing), adding a quality stealth system which this franchise desperately needs, adding a more detailed and unique fighting system. People were so critical of Black Flag but at least they went outside the box for once, they can't keep doing this same pathetic 1 dimensional gameplay. Of course the movement (up and down buildings) and traversing the map in general is great as usual. If they concentrate on the gameplay they can really impress gamers but until then they will just release the same video games every year. I don't care if you have to take a few years to make the game, but this annual release of AC games shows they are just profit hungry. You want to know why Tom Clancy games and Rockstar games are exceptional, they take their time.… Expand

    Today I played it again and had the same feeling as an Odyssey.
    The game is just extremely monotonous and boring. At that time there were no fresh ideas to turn things around. That the botch ends up in XBox Gold. The icing on the cake is the controls that are more suitable for a tank.

From my personal experience this game exhibits little gameplay difference compared to Assassin's Creed Unity. As many other reviewers have remarked, the glitches are just as apparent and unacceptable as they were in Unity. I am unsure as to what is going on in the present gaming world, but why does it seem that so many PS3/Xbox 360 games are/were performing better/more efficiently than the games being released on these supposedly "markedly improved next generation" systems (I have both systems so I compare them regularly)? The glitches and attention to detail on these games are lacking immensely. To many I am sure my complaints will seem petty but I am sure that others will agree that these issues detract from the fun and realistic nature of the game.

    For my starting point, I cannot stand in this game that your character seems to almost constantly meld with/pass through their enemies with whom they are engaged in combat. Often fatal strikes that would have been landed are lost to the software universe and no damage is inflicted on your assailant. Depending on the game this can sometimes mean the difference between success and having to restart a campaign or mission. I have also encountered on numerous occasions what can only be described as "falling into a black-hole or out of the world with no chance of escape" other than by dying or restarting the game.

    Another component I take issue with is the lack of effect your character seems to have on the environment. By this I mean that it appears your character is almost weightless and can navigate an environment as if they were a ghost. How is it that when one is free running across chains or beams suspended by only one rope, the chains don't even bend a little or the balance of the beam isn't affected at all? I mean even in AC4 Black Flag on PS3 the ropes that the lead character would cross on ships would at least bow in relation to his weight and position in space. A random point I might add is are you really going to punch a train car handle three times to activate the release? Is it really that hard to just program the character to look as if they are struggling to raise a lever? Also there is little to no interaction from civilians/observers. These elements are trivial to many and may require far more data to actually incorporate into a game but important to me because it shows the developers actually took time to focus on the little details to really make a game stand out (for example games like Heavy Rain incorporating facial hair growth on lead male characters and baggy/blood shot eyes to display weariness/fatigue/heightened stress; Until Dawn displaying foot print paths in the snow showing exactly where your character has been; State of Decay incorporating fatigue when fighting/fleeing, scavenging for survival and being susceptible to disease/pestilence; Hitman series where if civilians observe you with a weapon they run to notify authorities). Small details but they truly add to the experience of making it real to life, more challenging, and they dramatically increase its repeat play-value in many consumers minds.

    AC4 did provide many of these details and on a "less developed gaming system" at that! Not to mention AC4 took the best parts of AC2 and AC3 and combined them into one great game (the hunting, ship sailing, village construction and trade, alternate story lines/missions, side quests, etc.). AC Syndicate fails as miserably at these concepts as AC Unity did. Yes in AC Syndicate they add the element of fighting on moving trains and carriages but in all actuality who really cares if that and a few added combo moves are all the new features the developers really incorporated? Those attributes are more like new DLC to be purchased and added to an existing game. It is not worth charging full price and claiming it to be an entirely new experience in of itself. As one user remarked, I expect this game will be in the "marked down/discount bins" soon enough. If you absolutely must test it out I encourage you to do so but I would be patient and wait until it gets to that discounted price. I am sad to see the gaming industry heading this way and even more disheartened that we can't even count on honest professional reviews any longer as almost everything in present society has moved to money changing hands in exchange for praise and positive press. Of course maybe I am naive and it has always been like this in some form or another but I can say that I am glad that there are many reviews that can be counted on in my experience. Those reviews are the eloquent, intelligent, and sensible reviews of the real gamers and consumers.    … Expand

    The combination of an interesting and diverse cast of characters and the entertaining and compelling story sit perfectly in the beautifully recreated 1860’s London. It doesn’t do everything to solve all the series’ problems, missions can feel repetitive and there are some minor AI bugs that will shatter the sense of immersion occasionally, but by taking a step backwards and removing much of the excess baggage that the series has accumulated over the years of annual releases, Syndicate has become the best Assassin's Creed since Brotherhood.

    Syndicate is a solid sequel that will delight fans of the series, but most likely will not draw new people to the brand. If only devs pay more attention to an optimization and get rid of repeatable tasks, the result could be significantly better. [Issue#258]

    It isn't a terrible game by any means, and I'd rank it much higher on the totem pole than the previous installment, Assassin's Creed Unity. But that doesn't change the fact that Ubisoft's latest assassin-centered story is only a few shades above mediocre.
