Legacy of the First Blade: Hunted is a brief but welcome new slice of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that sets the stage for the more traditional Assassins-versus-Templars-style micro-drama that was mostly missing from the base game. Though it's isolated to a single region and only gives you a handful of targets, an intriguing villain and the backstory of new characters sets a good foundation for more Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – which is always a good thing.

With a scenario designed for an episodic release and a bit of fan service, this first DLC is a good way to continue the adventure of Odyssey, even if the region of Macedonia is already known to us.

Even though it's not the most thrilling side of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Hunted accomplishes what it sets out to do. It's an introductory chapter, one that establishes a new conflict at the origins of the Assassin's Creed lore. Although reserved, Hunted manages to be plenty entertaining. More importantly, it constructs a compelling foundation for the rest of Legacy of the First Blade. If the latter two-thirds can build on the first chapter, we're in for one hell of a story.

If you are a fan of the lore of the series, particularly if you've been playing since AC2, then this DLC is a must. It's incredibly underratedIf you are a fan of the lore of the series, particularly if you've been playing since AC2, then this DLC is a must. It's incredibly underrated because a lot of the people giving bad reviews are people wanting a full RPG style game but of course that doesn't work within the AC lore and universe.

The first episode starts off a bit slow, but becomes incredible, especially if you are a fan of the series and its lore. I don't want to spoil it but I have a word of advice for anyone about to play:

    - Download all the DLC with Odyssey, and play all the quests in each area as you get them. Don't wait for the main game to be complete before starting the DLC. Let it flow and just do whatever is near you at the time. Just don't dive too deep into the Fate of Atlantis until you've completed this DLC and the main game.
    - If you haven't played AC2 and aren't familiar with it, either watch a YT let's play, or take the time to read up on some locations and characters on the Wiki. I recommend the former.
    - If you haven't played Origins through, play it now.

Now, onto gameplay... It's a bit lackluster on episode 1, but it wound up being a great setup for the rest of the DLC and also had a rather funny moment I won't spoil.

This DLC is fine. Nothing extraordinary, but the story is nice to play through.

Let me be brief; as the DLC was. Why?

Ubisoft released its latest content drop for its Season Pass holders and has the internet buzzing with interest. However, let me calm those uneasy thoughts. After completing the DLC my only thought are why? Why even release this content. Most of you who are reading are more than likely are wondering "Well is this worth my money, time, and my diehard interest in the franchise?" my answer is no. Watch it on Youtube, or read a random comment on this review site for someone to spoil it for you. Ubisoft once AGAIN creates content without having in mind the franchise as a whole - which, in all, is a series about "a group of assassins, who happen to have a creed". Bloody hell, is your own formula that hard to follow?
