The story has a great deal of depth within it and this depth meant that I very rarely got bored with the story during my time with the game. I found the world in which the game took place in to be very unique and the enemies you have to face during your journey are also unique as well. Flying and traversing was very fluid and satisfying and the controls worked really well remaining tight and responsive at all times. When played with friends the gameplay truly shines and defeating the very balanced AI in a group always gives you a great sense of achievement. Technically the game still suffers with a few hiccups on occasion and these can be a little annoying from time to time. In terms of content I would definitely like to see more because I can see it getting a little repetitive after a short while. At E3 there were a number of game’s that really caught my interest along with many others and Anthem was at the top of most of our lists. So, I was eager to get time with this game, and while it isn’t the perfect experience, and in some ways I did want a little more. Anthem provides gameplay that’s not only thrilling but also fun as well. I’m pleased to say that both the visuals and sound design are fantastic delivering immersive action in all areas, despite reminding me a great deal of Destiny and the grind associated with it. The presentation side of the game also makes the story stand out considerably and this meant that I very rarely lost interest in the story. In terms of the gameplay the flying and combat elements feel very fluid and satisfying and the world in which you can use these different elements in is very unique. You will however have to deal with a few technical issues along the way though and some of these issues were irritating. I was also a little disappointed with the amount of content available but thankfully I was able to overlook that thanks to the glorious and fulfilled action when playing with friends. Even though it has a few imperfections I still think Anthem is going to be a game that continues to grow as we see patches and future content (DLC), because the core idea is very good and with a few improvements it will be a much better game overall. Let me start by saying I didn’t want to buy Anthem before I played EA Access trail for 5-6 hours and boy it was fun. Xbox X Visuals and effects are glorious as well as sound. I am glad they added nice story and mission interaction so it doesn’t feel soulless like Destiny one was. Now Day One patch broke HDR (they r working on the fix) and loading times are really start to piss me off. I also experience hard locks when talkin to one preticular character and few connections drops but nothing game breaking. It is not 0-3 score for sure ignore the haters and trolls. Flying is mega fun, customizing your mech too, shooting and kicking your enemies is very satisfying. Auto matchmaking for all activities is the big plus for me too. All I can say is if you are mech fan you won’t be disappointed! And even if you are not it still tons of fun. And I don’t even like EA as company so that must tell you something. Okey back to Bastion to uncover the secrets of the relics and creators ;) To arms Freelancers!
    P.S.
It gets boring after while, not enough stuff to do and Strongholds are boredom. EA drops the ball once again. Score adjusted accordingly

That's what's holding Anthem back, it's a collection of very great ideas, some of which are executed fantastically.. but it feels hollow... somehow incomplete.

Anthem is a AAA game, from production to gameplay to writing to acting... But the experience doesn't feel right...

I love bioware i loved playing mass effect 1, 2 & 3 as well as dragon age origins and DA inquisition the story of these characters that you come to love, like or hate. One of many things that annoy me while playing is no matter how hard i try, i just don't care about the characters or the story no matter how cool i find the idea of the javelins, the anthem of creation etc but also most of the characters seem emotionless, one cutscene was the annoying as **** owen talking about his parents pretty much abandoning him as a child and his tone of voice has anger and sadness but his face just looks like he is talking about the weather or he will raise his eyebrow and look surprised.

As stated above i played on pc (solo) and kinda hated playing this game on my own i had friends on xbox one get the game so i got it as well thinking like with destiny 1 and 2 playing with friends make improve my expeirience. It didn't. The game is a buggy mess and the day 7 patch did not help with loading or the bugs i have encountered. I want to like this game but my god it is hard, i am a sucker for mechs and mech suits etc but anthem is just not a great game. Thankfully there is no season pass **** so maybe ill continue playing it next year if or when they drop some more content for it.

Completely forgettable except for the parts I'll remember for the rest of the weekend for all the wrong reasons. How EA has managed to take a once proud and reliable game developer and turn them into this machine that puts out unfinished, dull, technical messes is a sad commentary on the industry. Bioware truly sold their soul to the devil when they sold out to Electronic Arts.

An unfinished alpha build (and that's generous, it's probably more like a beta build) released too soon and sold as a a complete game for a full $60 price. No more. Game companies, get it together or look for other careers. Automatic score of 5 because it's unfinished, unpolished, broken in places, and just plain boring in others.

Y por ultimo, lo peor del juego es lo de tener que estar las 24 horas conectado a Internet. (En Xbox one X va a 4k, y se ve de lujo, pero ese merito es mas de la increíble potencia de la consola).

If you enjoyed Mass Effect's combat style then you will probably like Anthem's combat. The story, yes not compelling but it's not really supposed to be in this style of shared experience game. Don't expect a rich story or deep characters, expect fun content and good visuals. My rating of a six is based largely on the fact that I found this game to be next to unplayable on Xbox One. I upgraded to an Xbox One X and the experience is much better. I full expect there to be some future support for Anthem, the 'games as a service' model has worked very well for Ubi and I think we will see EA on that bandwagon as well with this title. Expand

But Anthem suffers from the same recent identity crisis that ME:A and DA2. In fact, the similarities are striking. Much like DA2, the story is on rails and lacks much of the emotional investment and expansive effects of you choices that players have come to expect from BioWare. Much like DA2, there are three major shifts in effect on your world to give the illusion that choice matters. Further, combat seems to be the major focus. But as you rise to Grandmaster leveled tasks, tedium takes over and mechanics dissolve as your enemies sponge your abilities. All this would make a title average and is mere commentary on the shift a once amazing studio. But what really kills Anthem is the lack of playability. Free play is hampered by your random placement in the world far from allies. The stat system is convoluted and adjustments to weapons seems to have minimal effects. Crafting is... why is there crafting? It’s useless as it is. And simply changing your load out to experiment to find the best combination of weapons and skills is an exercise in madness that takes an hour rather than a few minutes due to the need to leave the environment just to look at the drops you recieve. Thankfully, I didn’t see or experience the plethora of glitches day 1 players did. But 22 hours in, I’m honestly bored of doing the same “guard this” and “fetch that” actions over and over. In earnest, Anthem has the bones of a great BioWare game with the concept and design. But the desire to steal players away from games like Destiny and The Division forced BioWare away from where it shines. Gone are the characters we wish to spend more time with in dlc or over to hate for a grind that’s ultimately unfulfilling. Expand

I've enjoyed the game style. I feel that the story is lacking. Bioware has really declined in their writing. I feel like it's mostly because of EA forcing the rushed release. You can see by Bioware's development roadmap the game is probably only 1/4 of the way finished. Sad that publishers are ruining games. I'm giving it a 6/10 hoping that it gets better.

This game is only worthy of a 6/10 at the moment.

For most games that is okay and acceptable, but for a game that I had high anticipation for since its announcement last year, Anthem was disappointing due to terribly executed elements like lack of informational tooltips that explained some of the mechanics, such as retrieving your challenge rewards or how to perform combos, and a myriad of bugs that include incompletable missions, failed quick plays and very long loading screens. On top of this, EA's influence over this game is very obvious, with the nonchalant placements of purchasable, with real or in-game currency, cosmetic items, purchasable materials for craftables, and the in-game special item known as shards, which are normally obtained through special end-game missions and can be bought using real money.

In addition, sometimes the long-loading screen would not complete and stay on the loading screen.

This leads to a need to quit the game and restart the game. On top of these frustrations, successful quickplay missions since the update that rolled out recently (February 1 or 2), have introduced a new bug where it says that your internet connection has been interrupted or lost, resulting in an infinite "search for new host". This again, means that you have to close the game and start it again.

Moving into the game, the city Tarsis is gorgeous but left much more to be desired. It is free-roam but you are locked to the corridors and spaces that Anthem want you to be in. For example, navigating to your Anthem, you are locked to what could be an immensely immersive and astounding experience especially with the market stalls that are there. It's linear and after the first time going through, you'll quickly get tired of it, as your game will most likely have to restart and you'll load into the default location where you have to walk up a set of stairs and then down the linear path towards your Anthem. Although there are additional areas to explore, they are empty and lack any reason to be there at all.

I couldn't help but be nostalgic about Skyhold from Dragon Age: Inquisition. But through nostalgia, I realised that there is too much familiarity with past games within Anthem. Specifically, the special effects, the linearity and locked-to-a-certain-path environment, and some game play were heavily reminiscent of Inquisition. Especially with the Storm Javelin and its effects. There were times where the shooting felt like Mass Effect.

    They are recycled effects.

The in-game store is an ongoing problem as they will offer unique materials and animations which you can buy with coins. It appears that this changes the dynamic of the game and if you want a more unique Anthem, you are almost manipulated into buying packs or items that allow you to make it a little more unique. The loot is pretty locked and the weaponry is recycled items that just scale with your level and add a different special effect here and there.

    However.

You put all the bugs, all the disappointments, the annoying fact that you are left to figure things on your own, the lack of cosmetic upgrades and the annoying EA styled store, it is hard to absolutely hate the game, and you can't help but enjoy the game when it actually works.

The game play mechanics allow for a solid and exciting grounds for firefights, which happen every time there is an encounter on the hard difficulty. If you are to play this game, make sure you only play on Hard. Having to be wary of your health and shields while carefully strafing or flying away from the devastating burst of shots or hits on you during those firefights, adds an element that you won't get in the normal mode. However, I would recommend Normal mode when you're starting out and gearing up.

Flying around is one of the most fun I've had in a game. I think this mechanic is one of the few that Anthem got spot on. Being able to control the flight into a hover and being able to launch into flight at the top of a button is an amazing experience, one that I was looking for in a lot of the games that I've played that were a sci-fi style genre, such as Mass Effect.

Overall, the game has an abundance of issues, such as the obvious influence from EA over this game with the store, the somewhat poor likability of the NPC's due to dry conversations with little personality, and the lack of likability from the player character as well, and the almost-game-breaking bugs that have made me curse the companies involved with this game and that I can't believe I paid full price for this game. Put the negatives aside (again, a lot), when your game works as intended, you love every little bit of it as it gets almost every aspect right and you keep wanting to play and play...

Until the mission ends and a system message comes up that says your connection has been lost so it's helping you look for and migrate to a new host. And then you have to start everything again. And again.

    And again.

I have read articles that hypothesize that during Anthem's development, part of the game was scrapped and re-worked. I don't know how true that is but it sure does feel like it. Anthem doesn't know whether it want's to give you a compelling narrative or immersive gameplay, and it ends up doing neither particularly well. Maybe if Bioware's name wasn't on it, Anthem would have done a lot better but I gotta be honest I expected WAY better than this from BioWare even after the Andromeda debacle. Though Anthem may be worth picking up in a year or two I cant really recommend it at this point. Paid $7 for this on the Xbox store, and that feels about the right price. It's not exactly a Destiny clone, but it's pretty close. Either make an open-world MMO or don't, instanced CO-OP missions are just the worst elements of both 3PS and MMOs.

Too much is lost in the process of going from a single-player campaign like Titanfall 2 into something like Anthem. You lose all of the heart of a single-player game, and don't gain much in gameplay. Flying around is nifty for about two minutes, until you realize it's still just about ADS and circling enemies over and over.

Gameplay: Anthem is a very fun looter-shooter. Personally, my favorite javelin is the Colossal, but they are all awesome in their own ways. The gameplay is fun and flying is smooth. You can feel some intense moments when playing, especially when you're fighting Titans and some of the other bosses. The missions are fun though some can seem unnecessary at times.
NPCs: The NPCs they want you

NPCs: The NPCs they want you to feel for and have emotions towards aren't that interesting and I can't feel any attachment to them or really care what anybody has to say. after you're introduced to a few of them it just seems like a chore to talk to NPCs more than you have too. You'll find yourself only wanting to talk to quest givers within a few hours.
PS... While it is lacking some content like more in-depth customization, it is pretty fun. I'm looking forward to seeing what Bioware has to offer in the future.

This is 9/11/19- Yes the initial release was lacking. Bioware is slowly adding content to this game and making the forge accessible with the hold of a button was a time saver. Load times are considerably shorter as well! I always felt the controls and feel of the weapons and explosions felt great and were always great. Give Anthem another play through if you haven't touched it in awhile.

This game had potential. It was mismanaged and rushed and the lack of content and real focus shows. The gameplay itself is basically Mass Effect Andromeda.. with flying. Andromeda being the game that was sacrificed so that EA could have a looter-shooter.
There is no point going on much further with this review. The grind is slow and gives you minimal reason to keep going. There is nowhere

This game gets a mixed review for me, let me explain. Although this game was a bit of a flop, I kind of enjoyed it, the graphics are nice, the terrain is nice, and the stuff looks nice, however, the game is filled with bugs galore. I had some bugs when doing some missions, I attempted to finish a level but got hit with a invisible wall and had to restart the game. Honestly, they should've just delayed the game a few years, and did some testing before launching it. Expand

Çok iyi, özgün bir oyun olabilecekken başarısız bir oyuna dönüştürülmüş. Grafikler, oyun mekanikleri mükemmel ama hepsi bu kadar...

In comparison with even the base Destiny 2 – let alone that game expanded by all its excellent DLC – Anthem feels not so much unfinished as barely started. It contains some good ideas which it fails to develop, and some of its basic pillars, such as the insistence on fourplayer co-op, somehow convey the impression of being tacked on rather than fundamental. And even with the huge early patch, it’s still glitchy – we had to play three quarters of a 45-minute Stronghold without sound, for example, which was disconcerting.

As a multiplayer game, the combat here is fun, but heading back to Fort Tarsis to grab the next quest becomes a chore; I found myself fast-forwarding as much dialogue as possible so I could get back into battle. There are likable characters in Anthem if you pay attention, and Bioware’s depth of story does shine if you’re interested. You won’t always be interested, though.

A game with a lot of potential that was released before it was ready.
