i paid only $3.99 for this and i still feel ripped off. This game might have been great in 1999 when 3D was still in its infancy, but this is unacceptable in 2019 and later. I understand that the game is more indie, but still:

    - the driving is pretty unforgiving due to the "loose" steering - the aiming system is terrible, most of the time you miss your shots - AI only needs a couple
i paid only $3.99 for this and i still feel ripped off. This game might have been great in 1999 when 3D was still in its infancy, but this is unacceptable in 2019 and later. I understand that the game is more indie, but still:

    - the driving is pretty unforgiving due to the "loose" steering
    - the aiming system is terrible, most of the time you miss your shots
    - AI only needs a couple of bullets to kill you
    - Carrying a pistol alerts everyone
    - robbing houses is timed, no matter if you rob at night and nobody is home or around to witness the crime
    - challenges can get really challenging fast, due to loose driving and steering and poor pathfinding
    - story missions are boring and give hardly any rewards, 100-150 a piece for the first 10 or so, while challenges can pay out 750 in a minute

All in all a very frustrating experience that should have stayed in the past. GTA and GTA 2 were great because they gave us total freedom and that was something new in 1998. While GTA moved on to 3D and open worlds, a full fledged crime story and graphics and sound to match this game stays in the past.

This GTA-a-like will make you nostalgic, and grateful that AI is a lot better now. [Issue#179, p.86]

American Fugitive is fine if you can overlook its slew of flaws. From shaky AI to an overzealous crime detection system and spotty controls, there's enough here to make one quit the game rather quickly. It helps that the core aspect of the open-world gameplay and the small town setting are enough to keep some people interested. If you really want a throwback to the old GTA system, then this will do, but don't expect something as polished and varied as Retro City Rampage.

American Fugitive will probably strike a note with people wanting to play a solid old-old-school GTA impersonator with modern adornments, but those looking for a meaningful story and evolution in the gameplay won’t find much.
