    Whilst I take issue with the game’s pacing and its hit and miss AI, there’s little else to scoff at here. American Fugitive is a love letter to fans of classic Grand Theft Auto. The game’s stunning world is full of varied activities and events, with no shortage of choice to take to throughout each and every aspect within. This is all held together by remarkably fluid gameplay, putting forward a sandbox that’s deep, robust, and constantly action-packed.

    The team at Fallen Tree Games have created a brilliant playground for us to explore, destroy and burgle. It is a great love letter to the humble origins of the open-world game that we know and love now, but that does mean it comes with the restrictions associated with that; mainly, the overly long mission arcs that unfortunately become a bit of a grind, especially in the opening hours where the map is more restricted.

    American Fugitive provides a solid sized world and with the low price of admission it's quite a rewarding experience, because there alwaysAmerican Fugitive provides a solid sized world and with the low price of admission it's quite a rewarding experience, because there always seems to be something to occupy you while it remained fun and enjoyable. When I 1st played American Fugitive it became clear that it had took a lot of inspiration from the old-school Grand Theft Auto games and improved on that formula with a modern approach. American Fugitive May not be GTA but it is still an action-packed fun-filled adventure with plenty of cops looking to take you down for your spree of criminal activities. In order to get to this action-packed experience though you’ll have to grind quite a bit at the start but even though this part of the game is tedious I recommend that you stick with it because when the map starts to open up there always seems to be something new for you to enjoy. Stealth plays a big part in getting away from the cops and these elements have been implemented well because getting away from them always provided me with an exhilarating experience. While the driving isn’t perfect I still got a lot of joy from driving around as we all have in GTA. In terms of problems the game has a few but nothing game breaking, any concerns I had were washed away by the fun and value present in this title. If you look past the game’s little shortcomings then you’ll find American Fugitive to be a game that takes a proven formula and makes it work once again. Yes it’s not as good as the very best this genre has to offer, but it value priced and indeed a worthy addition to your Xbox One library of games.… Full Review »

    i paid only $3.99 for this and i still feel ripped off. This game might have been great in 1999 when 3D was still in its infancy, but this is unacceptable in 2019 and later. I understand that the game is more indie, but still:

    - the driving is pretty unforgiving due to the "loose" steering
    - the aiming system is terrible, most of the time you miss your shots
    - AI only needs a couple of bullets to kill you
    - Carrying a pistol alerts everyone
    - robbing houses is timed, no matter if you rob at night and nobody is home or around to witness the crime
    - challenges can get really challenging fast, due to loose driving and steering and poor pathfinding
    - story missions are boring and give hardly any rewards, 100-150 a piece for the first 10 or so, while challenges can pay out 750 in a minute

    All in all a very frustrating experience that should have stayed in the past. GTA and GTA 2 were great because they gave us total freedom and that was something new in 1998. While GTA moved on to 3D and open worlds, a full fledged crime story and graphics and sound to match this game stays in the past.    … Full Review »
