    Worms may lack all of the bells and whistles that purists have come to expect, but the core game (especially when played online) still holds up – and that counts for a lot.

    If you've played a Worms game before, you know what you're getting here. It's just too bad that the full weapon set wasn't included or a more robust map editor. The result is a game that is fun, but feels like you don't have the full package.

    Worms feels more dumbed down than watered down, and 800 points is a lot for the novelty of playing an old game in HD. Still, if you buy it, people will most certainly come out to play, and ultimately the gameplay transcends the rather sparse contents.

    There is nothing else like this on XBLA, and you really should put down Gears of War and give this a try. The core gameplay of Worms is time-tested, family appropriate, and a riot for all non-computer players involved.

    If you don't already own a version, or have done in the past but got rid if it, then Worms on XBLA is well worth a punt for the price. To get the most out of it though, Worms is best enjoyed with mates over Live.

    Ultimately, it’s Worms’ lack of features that is its downfall. There’s a semblance of a map editor, but there’s no real user control. Why can’t I place my own objects or shape my own terrain? Why do I have to let the computer do it? And why don’t I have access to weapons that past Worms installments have had?

    Despite being tremendously slim, Worms is still fun, looks glorious in high definition, and the controls translate very well to the Xbox 360 pad.

    But for a few missing weapons, then (sorry - a few dozen missing weapons), this is as close to the series' peak as we've been since the days when the novelty hadn't worn off on the PC, and given the right company you'll find it quite approachable, with simple controls and the usual potential for comedy failure.

    It is sad to see how far backwards this game has gone from the earlier versions (Armageddon, etc.). I purchased Worms from the Xbox LiveIt is sad to see how far backwards this game has gone from the earlier versions (Armageddon, etc.). I purchased Worms from the Xbox Live Arcade hoping for a new, innovative title from Team 17. However, what I got was a disappointing re-run of a game, that simply didn't seem finished. One of the primary features made the previous worms games so great was the customization, with changeable worm voices, victory fanfares, and more than 3 map styles. Perhaps Team 17 is running low-budget, because this seems like a quick cash-grab compared to the previous titles. Call me nostalgic for "The good ole days", but there was so much more they could have done with this.… Full Review »
