While there's definitely some fun to be had in the game, it's heavily tempered by frustration and boredom caused by the camera distance and the yawnfest that is the Voltron levels. Also, given how big a show Voltron was, twelve levels in three 'epsiodes' for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) seems a bit lacking.

Personally, I'd give this game a recommendation if it goes on a half-price sale, but 800ms points ($10) is just a bit too much for this budget-quality blast from the past that is way too short and way too repetitive to be taken seriously.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe lacks anything beyond the main campaign, save an arena mode DLC available for an additional 240 MSP that really should have been included in the main game. It is also too short.

The nostalgic scenes from the show are nice, but if the gameplay doesn't support it, only the most die-hard of fans will be able to come back for a second helping.

Pretty tie-in of the 80 japanese animated series. Varied gameplay and multiplayer up to 5 players. However the experience is very short and easy.

Ultimately, Voltron: Defender of the Universe is nothing but wasted potential.

Voltron's Survival Mode mechanic and shoot 'em up stages help try to keep the gameplay unique, but it is bogged down by uninspired base gameplay and a bizarre boss battle system. There are better dual stick shooters out there, but the amount of nostalgia they've packed into the game may make it a worthy purchase for Voltron fans.

Voltron is a too short experience, but fans of the anime will enjoy it nonetheless.

It seem as if the game tries to achieve the nostalgic effect in those players who remember animated series of the eighties and seventies, but it fails when trying to adapt it to current times. Although the graphics don't shine, the main problem is its repetitive gameplay, with uninspiring combat.

Where Voltron completely falls apart is in its ridiculously poor boss battles.
