The game is very fun at first. But a six, because of it having no storyline to follow, no good cutscenes, too few classes and too little variety. Still, a great Diablo-clone. The PC version deserves a seven or an eight, but the Xbox one has too many technical issues...

I've been playing Torchlight on Steam, and it's good, clean, old school gamer fun. Of course it feels like Diablo, it's meant to. Heck, half the Diablo people are in here in one way or another. Love it though and I'll be grabbing it for Xbox as well. I only wish we could do multi-player. Can we?

This game is OK, and good for an arcade game. It has a retro style, which i like, but i just cant see past the issues with the storyline and the gameplay, it just spoils the experience. All in all, i wouldnt spend the money on this, go for an actual game for better experiences.

I feel as if this game plays better on pc. It feels like a generic action game on the console. Just doesn't feel like anything new on the console. I think they should have added some co-op to the game. Torchlight is a decent game, I think 15 bucks for this is a little much, but it is what it is.

Strangely long loading times for a game with rather light-weight looking graphics. Nothing new or interesting added to the genre. Difficulty levels are too sporatic (Veteran feels more like a Normal, where as Elite feels like Diablo 3's Inferno). Melee feels maladjusted, with enemies evading attacks simply by walking and hit-box detection a bit smaller than expected. Boss fights aren't very unique or fun, most of them revolving around having swarms of minions getting in your way while they do AoE attacks.

It's okay, but just okay. Feels dated, and too little too late. Play it if you're pining for a less involved Diablo 2.

Amazing and funny. Easy to play, easy to enjoy. I loved it at PC, and it remains great at XBOX!
1200 MS Points for hours and hours of destruction...
A must have for clasic Diablo hack'n'slash games' lover.

Closest thing to PC's Diablo & Diablo II on any console to date which isn't a bad thing. It would be a 9, but no multiplayer is an unforgivable omission that kicks it down to 7. I had some fun with it, but if you can't show off/trade gear and travel with friends, it loses luster after a while. I would still be playing a bunch of this instead of none of this game if it just had multiplayer. It is colorful and stylish and the cartoony graphics work fine. Never seen greater variety in loot. Plenty of skills and ways to develop each class. Bottom line...you will spend a while having fun with a quality effort until you get tired of hearing your lonely self curse the lack of multiplayer support. Expand

Very fun dungeon crawler. Lots of enemies, loot, spells, character customization is all there and very well executed. But no co-op? Really? That blew me away as I thought that was mandatory by now for all dungeon crawling hack and slash types. Good game but if they would have added co-op it would have been great. I guess we will have to wait and see if Torchlight 2 can do it right.

Best game I've ever played. Also the most frustrating game I have ever played. I am a newbie to metacrtic. However I have played over 266 hours in Torchlight.
    The good bits.
Quick graphics. Will run on fairly old systems with half decent graphics card. Originally I had a Dual core with a nvidia 9500gt and it ran fine in medium settings. Gameplay is fantastic. Story a bit weak but you

Gameplay is fantastic. Story a bit weak but you really don't care it is just a lot of fun to play.
This coming from someone who has invested some serious time into Diablo 3.
    No grinding (D3).
    Also multiplayer was a joy.

    The bad bits
Guts and mods oh my word.
Word of the wise if you just want to play a game when you get home from work without any tinkering or messing about then do NOT buy Torchlight. I remember trying to connect to a friend at around 09:45pm come 12:30am we had still not connected and gave up playing.

A few people will disagree, however if you want to play multiplayer with one or more friends and you want to try out different mods. It is a joke. Restarting mods and restarting the game are a very common occurrence.
If you want to play single player with mods etc then fine 10/10.

However this game I think should have released the synergies mod as a dlc and not as a community workshop ongoing project.

    Summary
Torchlight 2 10/10 best game ever
Torchlight 2 synergies/guts bells whistles etc.

The best fantasy looter on 360 (Sacred II included), but the lack of multiplayer hurts the package. [June 2011, p.118]
