If you're on the lookout for a great flight game, look no further. H.A.W.X. 2 is the best game of its kind and will keep you wannabe pilots busy for weeks to come.
  2. HAWX 2 is a dogfight fans dream and an excellent place for newcomers to enter in this genre of arcade games.
  3. If you're a fan of the original, you'll be over the moon with the sequel which contains a sturdy gaming engine, albeit easy at times but overall, the story, action and sheer speed of you flying through the air will keep most gamers entertained.

Hawx 2 is a much more complete game than the previous one. It doesn't have the futuristic gameplay mechanics of the first one, but it has more variety with more classic gameplay, but at the same time it's much better for mission design, full of twists and new situations.
  5. Ultimately, H.A.W.X. 2 is a must for Tom Clancy and flight-sim fans.

More than strong enough to chill out with the likes of Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon without embarrassing itself. [Issue#63, p.82]
  7. H.A.W.X. 2 corrects most of the flaws from the first game. The strong variety in missions and challenging dogfights make it the best game the genre has to offer up to now, but there is still room for improvement. Especially the lack of competitive multiplayer modes and the cumbersome lobbysystem fall short in comparison to the rest it offers. It doesn't take away from the fact that others will have a hard time to take back the throne.

It's refreshing to see Ubisoft applying such creativity and depth to what other developers would typically fashion as a mindless shooter. [Issue#101, p.120]
  9. It remains a game worth checking out, but almost by default due to the small number of air combat games on the market.

The controls are a mixed bag.
  11. We really liked Ubisoft's first HAWX game very much. We also liked the truly pathetic story because of its compelling tension. We didn't like story of HAWX 2 and didn't watch the boring cutscenes as well. There are bigger gunfights up in the air and the missions got a bigger variety. The new features such as landing approaches, the refueling, the interception of enemy and so fit in very well, but have a similarly large claim as a browser game. Nothing new to expect. Fans will like it anyway.
  12. Hawx 2 is quite nice: an interesting multiplayer mode, and some variations in the progression of the campaign makes it an entertaining product. Too bad the flying model isn't perfect.
  13. This sequel won't disappoint anyone looking for a standard midair action game, but it's not going to change your perceptions of the genre.

Call of Duty with planes. How could that not be cool? Like most games, if you like the genre, you'll like the game. So. if you like flyingCall of Duty with planes. How could that not be cool? Like most games, if you like the genre, you'll like the game. So. if you like flying games, this one will be awesome. I DON'T count myself as a flying game fan, but with the aesthetics and the mix of missions I enjoyed this one, allot. Full Review »

We came to the conclusion that this was a massive improvement upon the original - which is no doubt a great step in the right direction should we see a third installment to the HAWX series. We also agreed that this game is not an Ace Combat 6 beater when it comes to the "awesome arcade fun!" category. But we also feel that an aircraft fan would not be disappointed by what he or she saw in this game. Full customisation and a VERY large hanger of planes make it actually a fine experience both online and offline. Our only criticism really was the annoying AI insists upon staying behind you spamming you with rockets and you find yourself unable to break away. If you try then you both just end up going around in circles all day along until you get bored and fly off....the process then starts again! Full Review »
