It's always good to see a puzzle game with a unique style and an original concept, and the game certainly earns props for turning to M.C. Escher for inspiration.

With an excellent soundtrack, and beautiful [if simple] art direction, The Bridge is a sensory treat. [Christmas 2013, p.103]

2D platformers are a dime a dozen, and 2D puzzlers aren’t far behind. But The Bridge takes a unique, focused approach and sees it through from every angle.

Overall, for the cheap digital price, you have a quaint little puzzler in The Bridge that will keep you entertained for a decent amount of time.

As long as you possess ample patience and an abiding affection for mental gymnastics, you’ll still emerge with a smile on your dial.

While a number of the mechanics will feel familiar, The Bridge still feels like a slick perception puzzler that fans of brain ticklers will no doubt warm to.

At only $10, it’s worth a plunge for genre fans, but only expect about three hours of gameplay with a startling difficulty spike.

In order to do this the player can rotate the screen a full 360 degrees. Further complications, such as keys that need to be collected or giant balls that can crush you, are added as you progress.

The game uses beautifully hand drawn black and white graphics ensuring its own unique look. The puzzles are well designed and (mostly) logical, although as with many games in the genre they do arguably become too complex towards the end. Some sort of hint system may have helped but as it is very few will be able to complete the game without some sort of help from online guides.

Available at a budget price fans of puzzle games should certainly give this a try.

The controls are simple and work well. Some puzzles will take you a minute while other, more mind-bending puzzles, can eat up a lot of your time while adding to your frustration. However, the satisfaction gained by completing the more difficult puzzles is what keeps you pushing forward. The style, unique level design, fun and challenging puzzles are what make The Bridge one of the most engaging games currently on the XboxLive Arcade. It is by no means one of the best games ever, but it is well worth your $10. Full Review »
