Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

What is great about the game and the story line especially is that there are awesome villains and none of them seem like a throw away add on to the game. The levels leading up to boss battles are well designed, giving Spider-Man the chance to use his unique abilities. Story line writer Dan Slott really brings a story that is perhaps one of the best in any Spider-Man game yet.

Even if you're not a huge comic book or Spider-Man fan, you could do a hell of a lot worse than to grab Shattered Dimensions and play through it before the "real" fall season of game releases starts.

After a long string of epic disappointments, it's nice to enjoy a Spider-Man game so much that I'm actually looking forward to replaying the missions with new abilities and new costumes. Even if you've been burned on lackluster Spider-Man titles before, don't miss this game – Shattered Dimensions simply isn't the one to skip.

If you are a fan of Deadpool... I mean Spiderman, then this game is a must have.

A wonderfully drafted love letter to fans in terms of design, story aside. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions was a risk. Beenox dropped the open-world environments for a linear experience, but it turned out for the best. Each universe feels almost completely different from the others in design and play.

The straight-to-the-point levels and the four different dimensions bring a whole new level of gameplay to the Spider-Man franchise that is a breath of fresh air that it needed.

If you just enjoy good adventure games with a heavy dose of action, then be sure to give Shattered Dimensions a look.

The lack of multiplayer will hurt it with some people, but the sheer number of upgrades and collectables should keep gamers coming back for awhile. Besides that, it's a whole lot of fun.

Never a game has been closer in capturing Spider-Man essence, and that is a remarkable feat.

Highly recommended for lovers of action and near essential for Spider-Man and comic book fans, Shattered Dimensions is amazing, spectacular and a damn good game.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions lands just shy of being the full package, but it delivers a non-stop action ride with something new around every corner. Though its story leaves something to be desired, it's one of the best Spider-Man titles in recent memory, if not the best Spider-Man title to date.

I really liked playing Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension because every level seemed to have something different to do, and failing that, at least it always looked radically different from level to level.

Being their "first true big project", Beenox successfully pulled off what seemed to be an impossible task for many of us within the game industry. With Shattered Dimensions, Beenox stays true to the colourful and adventuring character of Spider-Man and propels him back into the spotlight.

Filled with countless remember-when moments-as in "Remember when you outran that wave of sand?"-Shattered Dimensions is less literary and artful than Batman: Arkham Asylum, but it's far more fun.

Shattered Dimensions plays great homage to the Spidey of the future, past and present.

Drawing from such a huge universe of content, Shattered Dimensions does a great job at doing something new for the comic genre. While the normal fights are familiar, the tailored feel of each level to each boss is a nice touch.

It's a good few hours of decent, lighthearted action-adventuring, and some of the most brilliant Marvel fan-service you could hope for.

Your enjoyment of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions will depend on how much you agree with Bobby Kotick's assessment of the previous entries in the series. If you truly believe they sucked, skip Shattered Dimensions as it's more of the same (just without the open world New York). But if you enjoyed them, you'll want to give the game a shot as it's another entertaining Spider-Adventure that's more linear than recent games in the series, but still a lot of fun.

Shattered Dimensions is a good time from start to finish. Fans of Spiderman will not be disappointed with its four universes and great action and pace.

Even with the mildly troublesome camera issues, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is a smart-buy for comic book fans and action gamers. Its four scenarios will keep you busy for a while, and the swinging action shouldn't be missed. Take it for a swing.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is definitely a mixed bag. It's not a "bad" game per se despite having some poorly-executed parts to its gameplay, but it's also not as good as the franchise's best gaming entries either.

You get to control four kinds of Spider-man set in four different dimensions. Combat is in focus but there are also times you get to use his spider web and agility to sneak onto enemies. All parts of the game are fun, but there are a bit too many bugs and bad code to make it a must.

With a new linear focus and emphasis on large-scale boss battles, Shattered Dimensions represents a new direction for a series that has never quite lived up to its potential. However, despite some thrilling set-pieces, a lack of variety prevents this from becoming the definitive Spidey title.

Finally we got an entertaining Spider-Man game, although a few months extra polish probably would have given it higher grades. Shattered Dimensions is still good fun with a lot of variation for all ages.

The writing, acting, and graphics are stellar. If only the gameplay, camera, and lack of variety weren't so stifling.

A solid game that will appeal to fans of the Marvel superstar, although its level design lacks variety and depth.

Shattered Dimensions is without a doubt the best Spider-Man-game since Spider Man 2. The level design is varied, but the game is very linear and the lack of big differences between the dimensions keep this game from being truly great.

This isn't to Spider-Man what Arkham Asylum was to the Caped Crusader, but nonetheless it perseveres as a consistent, rugged and undeniably enjoyable romp through some bright colours, excellent set pieces and laugh out loud lines.

Filled with enough fan service to make it an undeniable treat for Spider-maniacs, Shattered Dimensions is a fine game that's a little too uneven and repetitive to be more that the sum of its parts.

These problems are emblematic of a "rushed" feeling that pervades the entire experience.

Do we finally have a great Spidey game? Well, no, but we do have a pretty good one. While the concept of playing as four different versions of Spider-Man is brilliant on paper, three of the four are a bit too similar when it comes to gameplay, and while Shattered Dimensions is fun (and it is!), it also lacks variety and ends up feeling a bit tedious. A game best enjoyed in short sessions, then.

In the end though, when I was done playing, I was satisfied overall with the experience.

Definitely one of the better Spider-Man games in some time.

Features like these mean Shattered Dimensions would actually work as a Spidey game even though it's not an open-world swingers' party. It's just a massive shame they're housed in such a linear and grindingly predictable format.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension lacks the variety to sustain its 10-or-so hours of length, and the imagination to truly make good on its multiple-worlds concept. The experience is serviceable enough, but it won't inspire you the way that the best superhero games can.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is a fun game all the way, through awesome acrobatics and fantastic boss fights. It's a shame the rest of the game is so focused on endlessly fighting the same enemies over and over again.

Despite its short duration and repetitiveness, Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions is one of the best games based on this Marvel superhero.

Creative set-pieces and an awesome concept can only hide a repetitious game structure for so long - and the stealth sections that mix it up are just frustrating.

There's so much amazing fan service here, that enthusiasts simply shouldn't miss it. Despite its extremely obvious and repetitive nature, it's also a decent amount of fun, provided you play it in small doses.

Unless you are a diehard Spider-Man fan I would say there are better games to sink your time into this fall.
