Fun game but don't expect a triple A game.

Good game that gets boring after a few hours. The set pieces are awesome and quite fun to execute, while the hand to hand fighting is probably one of the best seen on this generation. But the shooting, driving and general A.I. is abysmal. Which makes the game unplayable after time. Good, but six hours too long.

A solid 7. The slightly tedious armed combat is offset by the great set pieces, and varied take down animations. The shooting sections want for a targetted zoom, but it's good enough. It'll only take 6 hours start to finish, and it's an easy 1000 achievement points. A solid 7.

Given it's another game based on a film, I was expecting a 4/10 game. I was pleased to be proven otherwise. In terms of quality, this game is as you'd expect - mediocre. There are some glitches here and there, and checkpoints aren't always as well-placed as they could be (especially for Assassin difficulty). In terms of quality, this game is as you'd expect - mediocre. There are some glitches here and there, and checkpoints aren't always as well-placed as they could be (especially for Assassin difficulty). What annoys me is that when you've spent 5 minutes clearing out loads of enemies and get to a cutscene, you take your hands off the controller to itch and boom, you've failed because of a quick-time event. That said, the QTEs are actually a strength of this game. There are some cool features in the game, such as the adrenaline meter for cinematic takedowns (involving QTEs) and Bourne Instinct (as adopted by Arkham Asylum). These takedowns not only make you feel like you're watching Bourne in the film but also act as a vital combat tool which adds variety and resets the pace of a heated battle. In terms of game mechanics, the Bourne Conspiracy is surprising robust. The hand-to-hand combat can be described as a somewhat basic "Cinematic Tekken". There aren't many combinations so it does get repetitive, but despite this the boss fights are intense, satisfying and make you feel like you're controlling Bourne as he is in the movies, so it does the job. Shooting-wise, the game is solid too. One big gun, one side-arm, all real weapons and good cover system. The lower field of view when your weapon is drawn and the simple dot crosshair mean there's no aim assist, and the realistic ammo capacity emphasizes accuracy. Being accurate is as difficult as it needs to be. Enemies take a realistic number of shots to die, and the hit detection is good. The controls - as with everything else in the game - are simple, but feel like they were more designed for the PS3 controller than 360 one. The achievements are exhaustive of everything in the game, and are all offline. Graphics, being on Unreal Engine 3, are standard, and do a good enough job; especially when compared to other movie-games. Overall, the Bourne Conspiracy is definitely a game you should consider if you have any interest in the classic Bourne Identity film. Some of the classic scenes are remade with the game engine and you get to play some of the parts as they happen in the movie. There are also some levels which were not in the film but give more of a background to it. It's not a straight port of the film to the game, but there are some parts of the film, which is good because you can see how the story connects and even understand the film a bit better. By nature, the game is VERY scripted and you cannot deviate from the set pieces, but then again you don't need to, since this is more of a cinematic, interactive Bourne movie rather than a free-roam game. The bottom line is, if you wanted a game which can make you feel like Matt Damon in the Bourne Identity, this does an excellent job. The difficulty is just right so it's very satisfying at points. Melee combat feels brutal and satisfying, but the same cannot be said for the shooting mechanics. Shooting feels like you just shot a thick pillow in the shape of a human. A generic shooter made better by the melee combat, I guess give it a try if it is cheap. Very dated.

Okay, the game is not perfect, it suffers from awful pop in and dodgy shooting mechanics, and plot feels badly recycled, but let's get to the pros. The Bourne Conspiracy is a medicore movie tie-in.

The game's biggest strength easily lies on it's hand-to-hand combat.Thankfully, this makes up a considerable portion of the game. You can use the environment around you to kill enemies, which helps balance the odds,as you are often fighting 5 or 6 guys at a time. That being said, the gunplay is mediocre, and the game often follows the route of

The graphics are decent, and the game runs smoothly on the 360.

Sound design is decent, but the soundtrack leaves a lot to be desired.

Overall,The Bourne Conspiracy is a relatively ambitious movie tie-in that could have been great if it wasn't rushed out the door.

Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy is a classic action game of the 7th generation of consoles. Regular B-shooter for 1-2 in the evening. A re-telling of The Bourne Identity that perfectly captures the feel of the movie. Despite some clunky mechanics, it's a fast and fun mix of shooting, brawling and QTE moments. I would compare it to the James Bond video game "Bloodstone". The repetitive game design kept me from scoring it higher. I would rate this with a 7.5 out of 10.

so this story isnt canon? oh well. this was still a decent time. it was fairly short that probably explains my score for it. fun gun and hand to hand combat action pieces were not bad but could been a little better. storyline was short (depending on difficulty setting) and a blur to me, not very memorable. the game came out the same year as GTA IV...never the less its decent and worthso this story isnt canon? oh well. this was still a decent time. it was fairly short that probably explains my score for it. fun gun and hand to hand combat action pieces were not bad but could been a little better. storyline was short (depending on difficulty setting) and a blur to me, not very memorable. the game came out the same year as GTA IV...never the less its decent and worth whatever price it is now days. At around 10 to 15 hours, The Bourne Conspiracy isn't exactly a brief experience, but its addictive and gratifying combat can certainly make it feel so.
  2. It's not that often you encounter a game that mixes genres and still manages to be above-average in quality.
  3. The Bourne Conspiracy, despite its shortcomings, is an example of a very good movie-licensed game.
