Ultimately, Raven Squad has its share of problems, there is no denying that. On the same token, I can't say I didn't have a great time playing through it, even though it only took one sitting of about 5-6 hours.
-
As the E3 2009 RTS Award Winner from a couple of sites, you would have expected this game to rival what else was shown and there were some amazing games shown. Now we get to finally play the final game and it fails to even come close to greatness.

Xbox World 360 Magazine UKLacklustre gunplay is helped by an efficient, albeit simple, bird's-eye view. [Nov 2009, p.88]
-
Games Master UKUnrefined and full of flaws, but entertaining - in as may good ways as bad. [Nov 2009, p.86]
-
Raven Squad is not terrible but it ticks just about every box on the way to being decidedly average.
-
I recommend renting the game if you have even the slightest interest in either genre or if you find it at around the $30 mark then don't hesitate to indulge. However, don't expect it to change the way you play either type of game.

Raven Squad starts with a brilliant concept and doesn't bother to flesh it out into a fun or compelling game. It's practically a gift to competing developers. In that regard all it lacks is a note reading, "Here's a template for a hybrid FPS-RTS; do something useful with it, because we don't feel like it."
-
Raven Squad sounded great on paper, and in many regards you could have forgiven poor graphics and dodgy sound if there was some flair and fun to be had with the gameplay. Sadly there is not.
-
Raven Squad is a monotonous, short and somewhat ugly FPS that is hard to recommend to anyone that isn’t looking for the interactive equivalent of a Steven Seagal flick.
-
Raven Squad is bland, boring and definitely not fun. Avoid it at all cost.
-
Raven Squad is 90 percent first-person shooter, 10 percent strategy game, and 100 percent bad.
-
Just another ruined idea to throw on the ever-increasing pile. Not even the fact that one of the lines includes the term, "Satan's little piss-pot," could save this.
-
games(TM)A fumbled attempt at an interesting yet obviously tricky fusion of genres and no amount of laughs - intentional or otherwise - can save it. [Oct 2009, p.131]
-
You'd be a Raven lunatic to buy it. [Oct 2009, p.90]
-
Raven Squad is a good idea gone bad.
-
A graphical nightmare.
-
If you are looking for a tactical military shooter, I recommend picking up either of the Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter games, as they are legitimate products of this generation in video games. I think I'll go play them right now just to wash away the vile taste of Raven Squad.
-
Don’t play this game. The idea of blending a first-person shooter with a real-time strategy game isn’t a bad one, but the execution was a complete failure. I’ll look back fondly at my time reviewing Raven Squad -- all three hours of it -- but only because I couldn’t stop laughing at the fact that this game exists.
-
A total disaster that doesn't work neither as an action game or a strategy one. Avoid at all costs.
-
BoomtownPlagued by poor and outdated graphics, horrid voice acting and some of the dumbest AI of the year, the potential hit quickly turned into another bitter miss. Too bad.

kinwSep 7, 2009I think I could make a better game in my garage. The voice over work is the worst I have ever heard.
