    Easily the year's best game, and it might be my new favorite game of all time. The Kong sequences are riveting, the first person controls are amazing, and the graphics made my jaw drop. It's not just an action game, it's got some horror refferences as well. You have to stand clear in its sight for a little bit. If you run one second to early, your friends will be killed and you have no chance of escape. One second to late, and you see the inside view of a dinosaur's jaws. The dinosaurs are also very intelligent when you're in battle with them as Kong. When you're battling 2, they're going to take advantage of that. While you're trying to get one of them's jaws off your neck, the other is going to walk over to Ann, or attack you. While you're about to disconnect one of their jaws, the other will attack you to stop. It's challenging to the extreme and a classic for the ages.… Expand

    This is hands down, the best movie based game ever made. The controls and mechanics are easy to learn and to master, the graphics are top-notch and just look really good and the sound is amazing, the gameplay in both parts of the game are solid and fun. However the game itself is not very long and you play as Kong only a handful of times. But in short this is a great game that is reallyThis is hands down, the best movie based game ever made.     You have to raelize that the game eperience is hands down awsome. On the 360 the graphics, gamplay, and sound are amazing. Some people might think it wasn't worth the $60, but you get easy gamerpoints and one great adventure.

    King Kong is an excellent game that kept me on the edge of the seat all the wayt through, despite it's shortness. Graphics, while looking like an impressive Xbox game aren't quite Xbox360 level. The evitoment and character are still very vivd and varying and the voice action is some of the best i've heard. Defintley not worth buying due to the lack of replay value, but a King Kong is an excellent game that kept me on the edge of the seat all the wayt through, despite it's shortness. Graphics, while looking like an impressive Xbox game aren't quite Xbox360 level. The evitoment and character are still very vivd and varying and the voice action is some of the best i've heard. Defintley not worth buying due to the lack of replay value, but a MUST rental for that weekend you don't have anything to do.     Length of the game aside, King Kong is one of the most engaging games that I have ever played. If you want to feel desolate and scared, as if you actually are in the game, than play this game. I bought it about a month ago for about 10 bucks. The HUDless screen really adds to the atmosphere.     I had no intention of buying this game until I saw it in the shops one day for a fraction of the price of a normal 360 game. So was it worth buying ? If I had paid more I would have been disappointed. To me the real value of a game is either the replay value or the multiplayer. This game has neither. Once I had finished it I have not given it a minute of thought of playing it again. Playing the game for the first time is quite good, the graphics is good, the voice acting is excellent the gameplay is enjoyable and it does a good job of following the movie and making you feel part of it. The fact that you switch between playing as Jack and Kong is a nice touch even if Kong is a little difficult to control....oh...and if you like collecting achievement points, you can get the full 1000 for doing nothing more than playing the game from start to finish...easy. My advice...buy it cheap or rent it.… Expand

    Its a really great game that gives you a great experience the first time you play it. But once you beat it in 5 hours you gonna think it wasn't worth $60.

    Some great concepts trapped in a lackluster game. The occasional stand-out moments hardly make up for repetitive gameplay and a narrative that's quite literally on rails. I felt like I was being herded from point a to point b rather than moving through, and the Kong sequences are few and far between, lasting just long enough for me to get excited before it was back to playing Jack.     The gameplay and graphics are excellent. A must have game for Kong fans. As for a "reviewer" giving this game a score of "0", complete rubbish. You either don't even own an Xbox 360 and want one or you can't comprehend that these are first generation games using approx. 40% of the 360's capabilities.     Looks OK but not a scratch on the PC version. to be honest i was expecting the XBOX 360 to be the next gen in gameing but it still hasnt managed to beat my 2 year old PC in the graphics department, and where is the killer launch titles, there aint any. i shall be selling my 360 asap to some mug im sure there are a few out there, i was one for buying mine in the first place.

The control mechanics were too vague in use, too simple, too annoyingly strange especially when I can come up with better games of 2006 that had a better AI function (Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions which also I don't really like much).     This game is actually just bad. Played it in '08 and did not understand how it got an 80 metacritic, even for it's time. I bought it to get easy 1000/1000 but I simply couldn't. It was such a terrible experience I haven't put it in my 360 since.

Theirs nothing really to explain, other than the game hasn't aged well.     Fantasic game. Best game based on a movie I've played in years. Sorry though I can't reccoment that you buy this game. It's much too short. Rent it though you'll be glad you did.

Your screen flashes red when your health is in danger and your character cleverly calls out how much ammo he has left. This may be a multi-platform game but it is also the best looking Xbox 360 game.     I never have liked adeventure games much, but this reallly got my attention and i liked it a lot. The graphics are extremely impressive and the game-play is unlike anything i have ever seen. Very cool game. Very realistic...

    I've never seen such good graphics in my entire life. And the fact that you get to play as man or ape, the gameplay is awesome... it's really the best game of the year, no joke.

I picked it up at a garage sale for almost next to nothing and i was surprized to see the ratings were actually quite good and it still sells for a respectable price....so i thought id give it a try and i was shocked how bad it was. it made me laugh quite a bit. You can aim pretty much anywhere on screen, the audio cuts are terrible and there is no option for difficulty. The NPC voice prompt what to do is embarrassing to a gamer that has played a ton of games and the levels were quite linear and simplistic. The graphics are quite outdated. Im not sure why people regard this highly but then again ive played a lot of games so don't really have any special appeal to movies and comics ect. I have the same issue with spiderman games they are also meh. Anyway this game is not for hardcore gamers it is for lighthearted fans of the theme. I only lasted about 45 minutes and despite my score i would not say this game is brutal it just would not have universal appeal and that is the reason i think a buyer beware 5 score is what i gave it. Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie is a 5-6 hour campaign based off the movie but at the same time completely different from the movie story-wise. The graphics look good for being 7 years old but won't blow you away. You can also play the game with old visuals from that time period. The game play consists of playing as Jack or Kong and they are both great but Kong will seem more fun. The game even gets intense as you are playing as Jack and get rammed by a raptor from behind and frantically try to run to cover. The only problem with the game is the end sequence in New York is very short and pretty bland. Another thing is the campaign is short and is not worth the retail price of $60 but overtime it has gone down to around $10-$15 which i would say is worth it.… Expand

The lack of a HUD made it more tense as you carefully consider your supplies and ammo. The story follows much of the film, but it doesn't look as bad as other movie licensed games.     PROS>> Great story, levels are designed well, lots of in game variety with the creatures that are out to get you. Voices are great. A memorable unique adventure, good gaming experience. and has Jack Black in it, with his own voice. CONS>> Some things start getting repetitive, visuals aren't amazing.     I remember when I first played this game all the way back in 2005.I thought thought it was up there with one of my favorite games to play on my Gamecube. It was a fun game that was held back by it's short length. Having played it again on the Xbox 360, it's pretty much how I remembered it, but it definitely has aged with time.

    The game doesn't really follow the story of the movie it's based on, but it does share some important plot elements such as Ann Darrow being captured by the natives and King Kong climbing the Empire State Building. Throughout the game you'll be playing as either of these two characters :Jack Driscoll and King Kong himself. The game's levels follow a very linear structure where you have to get to the end of each level while fending off against the island creatures and solving puzzles along the way: It's all very straight forward. 90% of the game takes place on Skull Island, and while everything looks a bit lifeless with lots of gray and pale green coloring everywhere, most of the levels feel varied in it's environments and with very little backtracking. In each level you'll be playing as either of these two characters: Jack Driscoll and King Kong himself. The Jack segments play much like a first person survival horror game, where you'll have to fend off against dinosaurs and other creatures with limited limited weaponry you find on the island, from guns that found in supply drop boxes with limited ammo, or the plentiful spears that you'll find yourself using very often. Most of the games puzzles involves trying to find door handles to open doors and using spears to light bushes on fire to clear pathways or to throw spears tipped with bait to lure away predators. The game gives you a great feeling of vulnerability and urgency as you have to fend off against the likes of velociraptors and giant centipedes, all of which can easily kill you. You'll also have to face off against T-Rexes, which are impossible to kill, and all you can do is try to get away. These portions of the game are easily the most intense, and they'll make your heart race. As King Kong, you're able to kill all of the small enemies in one hit and you also face off against T-Rexes, often against multiple ones at a time. There's even a level where you play as Kong where he goes on a rampage in New York City after escaping captivity. While this level is fun to play, your destructive capabilities are only limited to destroying cars. You can't damage buildings or attack pedestrians like you'd expect, and the street feel like big hallways. The game can be beaten in less than 4 hours and the time you beat the game, you feel like there should be more to it. While you do get an interesting art gallery mode, there isn't much reason to replay the game, not even for Xbox Achievements as you can get all of them just by playing through the game.
    I'm glad I decided to play through this game again. It's still as fun to play now as it was to play back then. When it first came out, it was being sold at the retail price of $50, and let me say that while I like this game, it's not worth $50. Luckily you can just want a copy for just under $10, which is much more better deal, but I'd recommend renting it since it's so short. It's the perfect game to play though the weekend.    … Expand

    It's a great example of a movie tie-in that is easy to play, it's a successful combination of a first-person adventure and a third-person beat-'em-up, and at times it even feels like a dungeon crawler. But at its core, it's an extremely good (and extremely simple) survival horror game.
