Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode Two

The series premiere set the ball rolling nicely, but Episode Two picks up the uproarious humor and killer story and runs with it.

A solid continuation of an already excellent story. The same humour, graphics, gameplay and more as found in the first title, with another enthralling and amusing tale thrown in. Well worth it if you enjoyed Episode One!

Chiefly a 10-hour version of one of the comic strips, with all that implies.

Though the game takes probably around eight or so hours to beat like the first, less if you know what you’re doing, it feels longer than the first episode since there are more variety in the quests that you’re given throughout the game.

But with a few refinements and over seven hours of new gameplay (far more if you choose to tackle the game's unlockable and aptly named Insane Mode difficulty), its $5 price drop from the original won't leave you feeling like an orange on the business end of...well...an old friend.

A fairly short game / A welcome respite from Fall / Many games, no time.

If you bought and enjoyed the first Penny Arcade: On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 1 (what a name), Penny Arcade 2 will be worth every dollar or MS point you spend on the game. But if you did not buy the game, it is not worth starting with Episode 2 unless you have purchased and finished episode 1 and if the first game was not your cup of gaming tea, you should skip this one and play something else.

If you want something to pass six hours of your time and give you a few chuckles, then Penny Arcade: Yadda Yadda -- Episode Two is certainly worth 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

The type of game that makes you want to dust off that green felt cloak and curl up with a sack of dice.

On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode 2 is really just a continuation of the first game. While minor upgrades have been made, the core game remains pretty much the same, and it isn't likely to change the opinions of those who weren't fond of the first.

Fun, but not super fun. The second episode is an improvement, but the delightfully unconventional story still needs to be fleshed out better. The low production values show. [May 2009]

Episode Two is still thoroughly ridiculous and amusing, but compared to the first episode it pales, feeling much more like a stop-gap than a fully-fledged follow-up.

It seems content to merely bridge the gap between the quirky RPG charm of "Episode 1" and whatever's next without even getting out of the car to stretch a bit. [Dec 2008, p.72]

Penny Arcade Episode 2 has the same humor and frantic combat of the previous game, but its devotion to the absurd will alienate some people.
