Episode 2 is as filled with laugh-out-loud moments as its predecessor, assuming you enjoy Holkins's and Krahliuk's scream-in-your-face brand of comedy.
  2. While On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode Two makes for a better game in the technical sense, the somewhat ho-hum story drags it down.
  3. It's a funny game, it's a better game than its predecessor and there are certainly worse ways to spend four or five hours. Episode Two nudges the series up from Just Okay to Actually Pretty Good. Let's hope that the third instalment continues the trend.

Fans of the first will still enjoy it, but Holkins and Krahulik need to return to their roots.

You're going to have to go a long way to find an Xbox Live Arcade title as funny as this. [Issue#40, p.114]
  6. Coming in at 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness - Episode Two is a safe buy for fans of the crazy comic strip and the past game.

Better than Episode 1, but still not great. [Christmas 2008, p.98]

Smarter, cheaper, longer and funnier, but the combat's just as dull and there's just as much of it. [Jan 2009, p.104]

Just as fun as the first, if not more. Clever humor, of course... and the refinements to the combat system and the story are quite fun. I Just as fun as the first, if not more. I don't usually go for RPGs, but the Penny Arcade brand of adventure/RPG/whatever keeps me quite amused. Well worth it. Full Review »
