It's a decent game. The detail of the cars & tracks are great, but the A.I. sucks...not at all like real life.

First off, you have to be real precise when holding the ideal lane because the A.I. is super aggressive & they'll hit you out of the way if you're not in the ideal lane. Also, when you racing in a pack of cars, the slightest tap will send you spinning & cause a huge wreck. Yet, if you try to spin a car out, the A.I. will slide around, but quickly save it. The A.I. will also go 4 or 5 wide at Martinsville & New Hampshire (which is nothing like real life!), at those tracks in real life, the most you'll get is 2 wide.

What's also unrealistic is that some drivers aren't running where they do in real life. In this game, divers like; Kevin Harvick & Jimmie Johnson will be running 33rd & 36th while drivers like; Cole Whitt & Bobby Labonte will be running 4th & 5th! In real life, those roles would be reversed.

Overall, $20 is not a huge loss, and since Jeff Gordon is on the cover (he's my favourite driver), this game was still worth buying.

First Nascar game in years, I'll stick with NR2003.

This is my first Nascar game on console in years, was hoping it'd cure my bug till I could get a new PC and wheel for iracing. Unfortunately, this game is a huge let down. The only saving grace for this game is that the online isn't horrendous.

The offline game is pretty much unplayable. A 150 lapper at Bristol was my last straw for any hope of offline be playable. The AI pretends you aren't there. Whether that means slamming into you or making it 3-4 wide on tracks like Bristol or Martinsville. A track like Bristol they will pinball you off the wall and other cars till you either spin or are last, while they keep on going like nothing happened. 90% of yellows are caused by the player spinning, the rest are normally the player spinning out a AI car. But most of the time you could slam off a AI car to try and spin them and somehow normally they just keep on going like nothing happened. The game can be fun on tracks like Texas or Auto Club, that are wide enough to give the AI the room they need.

Online: The online can be fun, if you can find some good racers. The lobby does need some work though. When you go to the online lobby you see the track (80% are Talladega for some reason lol), number of racers (16 max), laps, flags and damage. However there is no way to know if a game is currently racing or waiting on players. Seems most players have no problem racing with 2-3 players, so you spend alot of time joinng a game just to find out that they just started lap 1 or whatever and then you have to back out and try again. Would really be nice if you could see if that room was currently racing and what lap they were on or if once the race started that room disappeared from the list and you were no longer able to join.

Overall the game is alright for $20 if you mainly plan to race online or you can handle the ridiculously stupid AI. However it is NOT a sim. And the fact that according to other reviews, most these issues have been here for years is a joke. Hopefully I can find a league to race in to hold me over till I have the funds for a new PC and wheel and can do iracing.

The only mode that isn't completely broken is the two player co-op in Daytona or Talladega. Expand

This game is unplayable. At first, it seems great. A few practice laps, qualify and win the pole, all set. Then, the race starts. Lap 1,This game is unplayable. At first, it seems great. A few practice laps, qualify and win the pole, all set. Then, the race starts. Lap 1, you might get about half way around the track if you are lucky.. then, you will be spun out wildly, cause a massive pile up, which red flags the race. If you have damage on realistic, you will probably have to retire from the race, otherwise, the race goes ahead 2 laps, and you'll restart in 43rd place, and remain there, for the rest of the race. Racing games are my favorite genre. I play them all. This one is terrible. I hope the next gen NASCAR game will be great. Expand
