    The right length for the casual gamer. Good selection in difficulty for all levels. Great blend of gameplay, graphics, and music. Online CO-OP iand online multiplayer action is great. The Theater allows for playback of recent games and clips to relive moments in the game as well as capture hi-res screenshots.

    Halo 3 is not only the best game in the trilogy,but it's also the best game on the Xbox 360 thus far. It's not 100x better than Call of Duty 4 and BioShock,but it's only an inch better than Call of Duty 4 and BioShock. Why? Halo 3 not only finished the fight with non-stop,summer blockbuster-esque action,but it continues giving what started giving back when Xbox Live Halo 3 is not only the best game in the trilogy,but it's also the best game on the Xbox 360 thus far.     This game finally balanced the issues of overpowered vehicles in H1 and overpowered rockets in H2. Like it or not you Have to buy it if you own an xbox.

    Good campaign, with metagame and 4-player online co-op giving it high longevity and replayability. Amazing mulitplayer with extras like the Forge map editor. Insane online stat-tracking. My only concern is the small number of multiplayer maps which will be remedied soon with the first of what will certainly be many map pack releases.

    Best campaign ever in a game (i could care less what others think) best ending ever in a game trilogy, even though its obviously not over and of course the worlds #1 MP. best game ever created.

    The gameplay is totally subperb, the enemy and ally AI is great,except for the driving of your squadmates. The storyline is good for the first half. The Multiplayer is great and playing in co-op campaign is so fun. The physics, the abilty to destroy phantoms,scarbs is good too. The ability of the flood to revive the dead is also a good new feature.     The online multi-player is highly addictive and is very fun, though the 4-player online co-op doesn't work as well as you may want it to. Forge is a neat idea, but won't hold your interest for very long, but the saved films feature is very good. But, the campaign mode is very disappointing, and leaves you hanging at the end.

    Really fun, I rarely enjoy console games. The multiplayer is about as much fun as I'm going to have with a gamepad/controller. Still, in terms of single player gameplay, it really isn't a glorious achievement in the FPS world. Solid, shiny, pretty, fun, but not really deserving of the massive hype machine that seems to have driven the series since the first title started to take off.

    Michael B. has everything right. The Needler and the pistol have become completly pointless. The Needler because of it is weak as hell now and the pistol... well... it was really only good in halo 1 and kinda fun to dual wield in halo 2 but it sucks in halo 3. What I like: melee has gotten stronger, you can just smack the Brutes up if you play on easy. The Gravity Hammer is a great Michael B. has everything right.     The last 2 levels were a joke and left a bad taste in my mouth. And what's with all of you fanboys creaming y'alls pants over the Legendary ending? If it weren't for the addicting and frenetic gameplay and the deep multiplayer, this would be just another shooter. Either way, this series is WAY overrated.

    Not surprised to see all the hate by users. Dissing backtracking? Try Metroid Prime 3! Mad at the short campaign mode? Multiplayer is the main draw here! This is a decent single-player console FPS and one of the best multiplayer experiences in gaming. The feature set in Halo 3 is incredible, the graphics are sublime, and the music is epic.

    This game has very good game play and thank god the creatures are not easy to kill, it makes the game so much better. this game i think in my opinion is the best one out of the 3 that is why im giving it an 8 What a GREAT game.

    Great game and I love how the story ends. The gameplay was so much better then the 2nd one, and I might be flammed for saying this but, I think this one is better then the first.

Halo 3 does exactly what you expect from a sequel, it improves upon the formula and adds new stuff. What makes Halo 3 so good is it's action. No other shooting game does it better in my opinion and I've been playing them for years. Bioshock, The Orange Box and COD4 are all Halo 3 is a sequel. What makes Halo 3 so good is it's action. No other shooting game does it better in my opinion and I've been playing them for years. Bioshock, The Orange Box and COD4 are all excellent games for different reasons but Halo 3 just nails the formula of guns, grenades and melee. The gameplay is action packed and the online play will get your adrenaline pumping like you wouldn't believe. There's nothing like scoring a triple kill and then getting all tense and excited as you desperately try to find that overkill in time, or making a comeback from 20 points behind to take the game by one point. The multiplayer is absolutely phenomenal, it is super exciting and at times even hilarious. However, It can be very frustrating and, at times, very unforgiving but that is no fault of the game, though it is easier to blame it. The campaign is Halo 3's weakest link, it is great and is fantastic in 4 player online co op (if you've got a good internet connection) but it is graphically disappointing. The cutscenes are quite ugly and the second to last level is just awful. The game keeps a solid framerate throughout though, so it is to be commended for that. The story is terrific and the game does a good job of finishing the trilogy, whilst leaving the door open for possible expansion. Also, the music and sound effects are outstanding, the attention to detail is astonishing. The two newest additions are the Forge and Theatre modes and I could go on for hours about how ridiculously awesome they are, they do an absolutely fantastic job of adding more value to this incredible package and make for a refreshing break from all the action. All in all, if you are looking for a social gaming experience, you cannot go wrong with Halo 3 as everything about it has more than one person in mind, if you are looking for an incredible, competetitive online mode then no other game does it better, but if you are looking for a deep and involving single player experience then you would be better off with something like BioShock.     This game is solid. Improved on all aspects that were not fully realized in Halo 2. Audio is the probably the best I've ever heard in a game though it takes a true 5.1 system to fully appreciate. The online multiplayer is just as addicting as Halo 2 without the abundance of hacking/cheating due to a more calm and calculated production schedule.     All you haters need to hush up. Halo 3 is an awesome game in all respects. Its graphics are stupendous and the gameplay feels much more balanced this time around. With the inclusion of equipment it feels like i have more options and i can play how i really wanted to all along. i love the levels because of the throwbacks. its awesome to see parts of halo 1 and 2 to remind us of how far All you haters need to hush up.     I managed to get a hold of an early copy via some friends and I've gotta say, Bungie lived up to the hype. I was dreading it, I figured they were building it up so much that it couldn't be as good as it looked. Fortunately, I was no disappointed, if you have a Xbox 360, buy this game.

    I didn't like Halo 1 or 2, but decided to give 3rd part a chance, and what a ride it was. Gameplay is pure genius, AI is awesome and levels are entertaining. Gfx isn't bioshock-like but it holds to it's own (HDR and water effects are really nice). I didn't try multiplayer yet, but this game is worth buying for single player mode alone.

    Gamer 2.0 makes the most rediculous statements ever. They gave audio an 8! That's insane, even the beta had amazing audio, some of the best I've ever heard. Not that I need to say this, but buy this game. Its not an 88 like these "respectable" sites such as gamer 2.0 and dailygame say. Honestly I've never even heard of them before this mockery.

    Not too much new here! Same game, same enemies. Some of the weapons have changed and the graphics are a little prettier-but not enough to warrant me spending 70$. I like it but don't love-it's not Bioshock!

    Honestly, I've only gone through the first couple boards but I have to say holy cow it's awesome. I expected better graphics but, man... it's just incredible. And the game play and creativity that I have experienced has met my expectations. Greatest. Game. Ever.

    It's a very solid game. There aren't many things to complain about. But It doesn't deserve a perfect score. Bioshock is still the best game on the 360. Halo 3 is number 2 in my book.

    Awesome game that pulls together all the elements that have made this a great series and perfects them. I wouldn't read too much into 1/10's from people who've probably never owned a 360 let alone played this. The console wars are alive and well sadly.

    The game is great as expected for its third run.The campaing is a bit short for my taste but the game really shines in its features and multi-player modes. The meta game is insane with 4 players coop,the forge and record mode are truly innovative and strangely fun.The game willreally live beyond the 360 life cycle.

    People are giving it a 10, well. i wouldn't give it anywhere near it, or a 0. Halo 3 is massive disappointment in both campaign and multiplayer. Sure forge is good as well as recording, but the game is in fact no different. The graphical improvements aren't even that amazing.

    I'd wait till its 20$ and then go pick it up.

    Absolutely perfect. Stunning. Flawless from beginning to middle to end. This game the entire reason that I bought an XBOX 360, and now having finished, I don't regret a single cent that I have spent.

    Great game! Multiplayer is simply amazing. You'll spend hours just going into replay movies to watch your best kills from every angle. It's here when you get to slow the game down that you really see how detailed and brilliant the graphics are.     This is the most complete game I've ever had the privilege of playing. Anyone who says it is just like Halo 2 deserves nothing less than a kick in the nuts. AMAZING beyond my wildest expectations! Graphics ( especially during the replays ) are honest to god, the best I've ever seen. Thank you Bungie for making the Greatest game of all time!

    I feel like this game could have had more polish in the graphics department but other than that, this game is sick!!!! It reminded me why i freakin love Halo in the first place. Singleplayer is short but insanely fun and multiplayer has more customization than ever and it helps the gameplay to be varied, chaotic, and insanely fun.

Hype should have nothing to do with the way you rate the game, but for some odd reason, how a game was hyped is now as important as how a game plays or what it looks like. I'm giving Halo 3 a 9, not because I'm an emo child who has beef with everything that's popular or because I think "Marketing is duh devil."     Halo isn't a perfect game and the whole game plays like the first Halo game, but that's the point. In a world where it seems there needs to be something jaw dropping and eye catching like 'perks', 'plasmids' or 'frame rate' Halo remembers what old fashioned video game fun is. Its not realistic, but when you win a duel with a well placed grenade on Live or beat a 10 foot ape alien to death with a pistol you feel good. that's a feeling that is hard to get with CoD4's easy camp levels, broken tru skill system and defective 'perks' (which are complained about by even the most hardened Call of Duty 4 fan. Note that I said Call of Duty 4, not Call of Duty, there is a significant difference between the two.) Now Halo does have issues but where as logically I would give CoD4 an 8 or 8.5 as a result of those issues Halo gets a 9 because its problems aren't nearly as game breaking. Halo's issues, with nearly worthless equipment and at times nerfed weapons and maps, are problems but you can still play the game without those things affecting your experience at all. You can get around those problems and still have a fun time unlike Call of Duty 4 where you can only tolerate its problems just so long before you want to throw the controller across the room.
    In short Halo brings the fun, and lets you have all kinds of it, something most other games are hard pressed to do.    … Expand

    Actually I would give it a 9.8(doesnt give me the choice, but anyway). Halo 3 is endless hours of entertainment. With may modes such as forge, x-box live and custom game ssuch as forge. This game in my opinion be Game of the Year. My only negative is the story, just like Halo 2. A slight cliffhanger. Otherwise it is well one of my favorite games of all time.

The levels are extremely varied but you will eventually getting tired of using the battle rifle(which is pretty much what your gonna be using the whole time) The enemies dont really vary to much which makes them kinda boring. The maps seem pretty fair in layout so you cant blame how much you suck on the unfair spawing points and weapon locations. Overall this is a fun game that you'll probally be popping in years from now. Its not without its flaws but im sure we can all overlook them and appreciate this game for its great points… Expand

    This game is good in all ways. The story is compelling, the multiplayer rocks, the graphics are excellent, and the gameplay is exquisite. This is one of those games that you can just go back and play any time you want, and it doesn't get tiring or boring. The only bad thing is that the campaign is a bit short.

    Bungie's formula for its Halo games provides the most fun you can have on the Xbox 360. The lighting is spectacular, the a.i. actually seems artificially intelligent, and the story is gripping. Very few games reach this level of excellence and make you wonder why other game studios even bother.

    One of my favorite games ever. It will never get old. The campaign is so-so and some things could be a little better. However, this is meant mostly as a multiplayer game and this is where it excels above all. The replay value is through the roof, and for those who love games that require skill to play and master, Halo 3 online play is just that. Amazing.

    Amazing replayability, playing with skulls is incredibly hard, and the multiplayer delivers and is as addicting as COD4. The storyline leaves me wanting more, but it sure does deliver and leaves me satisfied enough.

Anyway, the controls are easy, it's not that long but beating the whole thing on Legendary, well, it takes AGESSSSS! Best 360 game. Best Halo game. Buy. It. Now!

    It's not the best game in the halo trilogy, but it still get's 9/10. The campaign should have been a bit harder!(waaaay to easy, even on legendary difficult..). I love the multiplayer, becowse there's usually some crazy nut-head in each game that i allways laugh to, and i'm pretty good at it to(i don't mean being a crazy nut-head) so i don't die alot.

    This is one of the greatest games for the 360. The campaign is ok, but at least it has 4 PLAYER COOP cough cough (COD4). And the multiplayer is better than COD4 because it actually takes skill to level up. And to all those idiots who say COD4 is more realistic than Halo, NO SHIT Halo is a shooter that takes place in the future with a fucking super soldier no wonder it isn't realistic.

    As much as I loved Halo 2, I still love Halo 3. this may be the only first person shooter out there that I realy like. I can't stand Call of Duty, Battlefield's all right but Bungie keeps doing what they're doing and it's awesome. I love killing grunts, brutes and jackals.

Tbh, the game doesn't even deserve that much critical bashing from envious PS3 players who know that you can only play Halo games on the Xbox 360. But the fact is the story line is not clearly understandable, especially the ending that left a lot of detailed questions regarding the remaining Covenant's plans. The game play however, is diverse and consistent in weaponry, the ambiance in later levels when you begin to face Flood enemies was impressive, some of the USNC soldiers especially were quite convincing when they reacted to witnessing the Flood threat. However, what the game lacks is the sense of support by the human soldiers you get at occasional times, every time I lead a squad they either end up getting killed by their own grenades or they seem to not have the common sense in avoiding an enemy by taking cover which results in me being the only one as John-117 handling all the overloaded amount of enemies in one place, hence the AI of the game acting like a mechanical clown. There are too many enemies in the in the second-last and final campaign level, for me, they were as useless as statues while adventurously driving my Warthog with another alien just enjoying the well-fitted soundtrack (that was a good idea!).     Halo right now isn't the big monster that was eleven years ago, of course , generations pass fast and more games keeps changing the video game landscape. Halo 3 is a badass of a game and is a replay value game pumping up with the story that is great, the multiplayer is satisfying and the forge is cool.     Even though it was a couple of years ago, I just had to comment on this amazing franchise/trilogy. It made me appreciate video games now (I used to think games were just a waste of time, some of them are still). Visually updated and full of epic-grand situations (hahaha can't find the right words), I mean this game just blew my mind completely. Yes, it WAS overrated but looking back at itEven though it was a couple of years ago, I just had to comment on this amazing franchise/trilogy.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game was great and the campaign was a little rusty as u get farther into it but like always halo still came out with a great multiplayer like the new forge mode being able to create ur own battle field to just the way u will get an advantage just great but not the best just cause the game changed so much from halo 2 to 3 like how in 2 around the end u have grunts, elites, and hunters yet in 3 u have only elites… Expand

    Probably, One of the Best Games out of all the other halo games!
    The campaign is great especially on the legendary mode and the maps are way better than HALO REACH

    1st off I have to say I invested maybe 1,000 hours into this game online and I had the time of my life (on xbox). The Campaign was epic And good storytelling with a somber and rewarding ending. Due to the community being so big there are countless custom game types to play which adds to the fun.

    In my opinion, this a game with a great campaign, and fun multiplayer. Halo 3 was one of the first xbox 360 games i have ever got, and it is definitely a great buy. This game is a classic, and if you don't have it, you should seriously consider getting it.

    It is one of the best game I ever played. Epic campaign,perfect multiplayer. Someone give a 0 to this game. I can't understand why. The only bad thing of it is the graphic.If you didn't play this game, you can't say you're a gamer. Maybe it isn't the best Halo ever,maybe it isn't the best game ever, but surely it is a great game.     fantastic game play and multiplayer definitely make this a very good game and a must play the story was not as good as the first two and while it finished the story well it was very confusing for people who hadnt played the first one and even for people who did and really followed the story.

No duel wield, you can't switch weapons as fast which takes away the power to switch the sword at the last minute resulting in "cheap kills" The game feels more balanced on the multiplayer side compared to Halo 2 with less exploits all around.     Love it, hate it, don't give a **** about it, I don't care. It definitely is one of the best halo games second only to the second part of the halo series. Great story line, great game play, great graphics. The only thing that concerns me is the boss battle in the last mission is short and boring.     Very good FPS. The gameplay is great, much like previous Halo games. It is not perfect, but I still had a wonderful time playing it with my friends. Even if it has been a while since it has released, I still from time to time come back to play it

    It's the addition of the Forge level editor and the saved films that give the game an even longer set of legs, legs that will probably keep you running at full speed until Bungie figures out where, exactly, to go from here.

    Halo 3 is the best Xbox 360 game to date. The single-player campaign and storyline are both very strong, but it's Forge and the Saved Films features that will likely go down in history as Bungie's crowning achievements. They've basically taken everything great about the series and improved upon it in every way, then added some amazing new features that we'll be using for years to come.
