    The game play it's incredibly fun just the physics alone make the game unpredictable,exiting and crazy entertaining,the shooting feel realistic and satisfactory
    The story,the soundtrack,ambience,the city.it's all just so good,so well crafted that i have to believe liberty city really exists somewhere The multiplayer is just as fun    Probably the best game ever made,it has so much to offer

    Has to be one of the best games i have every played. I was so hooked on it for a good 4-6 years before it got boring, and i played it everyday for those years. It's a game you can put your mind to work on, no it isn't Grand Theft Auto V where you can customize your cars or fly jets, but that's what i like about it. You can really put your mind to work, because there is so much to do in this game.

    Actually, this GTA game one of the best in series. Wonderful and sad storyline, wonderful grapics for 2008, yeah and the Liberty City - my favorite city in GTA. Much better for GTA V with her worst storyline

    The GTA IV is the best game of the previous generation. For 2008 it still looks amazing, yes on Xbox 360 the game looks a lot worse than the 5 part. But yet in 2008 there was only the beginning of that generation. The plot certainly stands out vividly relative to the previous parts due to the change of reference towards a realistic narrative. I still liked the description of the RussianThe GTA IV is the best game of the previous generation. For 2008 it still looks amazing, yes on Xbox 360 the game looks a lot worse than the 5 part.     Astonishing game.Very Well Developed and a very gripping story line altogether.One of the best games I have ever played.Deserves all respect towards it.Characters development is brilliant.Rockstar did well with this one

    Com gráficos bonitos e um tom completamente caótico, seja bem vindo a selva de pedras de Liberty City. O jogo é ótimo e por isso é meu GTA favorito, sempre que lança um GTA nossa expectativa é máxima pois sabemos que temos um GOTY e por mais alta que seja nossa expectativa GTA sempre nos surpreenderá, com GTA IV não foi diferente, Simplesmente perfeito.

They need to get more creative, because what they list as reasons to underrate this game are pathetic and laughable. I understand that rocks will be thrown at the throne, but never forget, this game is #3 of all time on metacritic.     The most realistic GTA ever. The story is perfect, the characters are awesome and the graphics are very good. The combat and driving are also very good an a big upgrade from San Andreas.Niko is the best GTA protagonist.

I love the diverse New York City atmosphere as well as the VAST majority of the characters! The storyline is absolutely fantastic! It is a true classic which was ahead of its time when it came out in 2008. I would strongly recommend this masterpiece to a friend. In short, it isEasily the best GTA game as well as the best game made by Rockstar! It might be the best video game of all time!     Even well after a decade it's still the best GTA game with a brilliant protagonist, story, missions that are consistent, awesome side missions etc. It's not without its faults, but still a masterpiece nonetheless. San Andreas and GTA V have nothing on it.

    It's no secret that Rockstar are masters at their craft. It's no secret that Grand theft auto is one gaming's most iconic series. And in my personal opinion, it's no secret that Grand theft auto 4 is the best one in said series.

    Grand theft auto 4 completely changed open world games, with its level of perfection, and dedication to its craft. Whether you were flying down the highway in a    It's no secret that Rockstar are masters at their craft. It's no secret that Grand theft auto is one gaming's most iconic series. And in my personal opinion, it's no secret that Grand theft auto 4 is the best one in said series.

    Grand theft auto 4 completely changed open world games, with its level of perfection, and dedication to its craft. Whether you were flying down the highway in a high speed chase, soaring the skies in a helicopter, going to hangout at the local internet cafe to let nico browse the world wide web. Every thing you did in liberty city felt perfected. And as you play the story in grand theft auto 4, all of these tasks bare even more weight because of your connection to the world and its inhabitants; in grand theft auto rockstar have never created a main character as good as Niko. You become so attached to him and his journey that you truly care for him and his everyday life. He's just a man trying to find new life in America... and you never once doubt how much he cares.

    Rockstar continue time and time again to amaze us, dazzle us, and captivate us. Grand Theft Auto 4 was a huge risk by Rockstar. They completely changed the way they tell stories in GTA with 4. it paid off beautifully. But outside of the red dead series, i don't think they could ever top just how amazing the world of Grand theft auto 4 is.

    - full Euphoria feature set (as company was owned by RS, to greater extent att) - arguably best story, yes SA is great too. but most character depth. - open structure approach to mission objective - most 'alive' map, also best map. - with mods, unbelievable first person motorcycle. you really have to try it, although 2020 release needs    by far the best RS game. without question.

    Grand Theft Auto IV is a masterpiece. GTA4 is a open world game set in Liberty City a satire of New York. The main story is great and the side missions and activities are also great.

    This game is a on-going thrilling experience. I played this game on the Xbox One and when i first played it, I Immediately fell in love with everything that the game has. It is even better in GTA V with more details and features that you and me like about that GTA IV game (Better Physics, more Places to go, better Atmosphere, better Car Handling, and etc.).

The AI in this game is very Intelligent, as if you shoot at a mafia, they shoot or run away, and etc. The car physics in this game is exactly how it represents Real Life, but some features are gone. The atmosphere in the game is very dark and bright at the same time, which is a very good combination of the two words and their deep meanings for this GTA game. The car handling in this game is exactly like Real Life, because if you go at a higher speed, the energy and momentum to make a turn decreases and increases if you go slower.

    Car Review- Cars handle great, I don't see why the handling is hated. Car crash physics are incredible, and they are second to BeamNG.

    Physics- Car physics are great. None of that midair car turning. Ragdoll physics are hilarious, and NPC's accurately respond to shots, unlike V's "shoot them in one leg, and they act as if they're shot in the arm". In IV, they clutch their leg if shot in the leg. You can shoot cops' guns out of their hands. When you fly out of your car, Niko accurately responds, getting to a ball position to break the fall. If you fall from a height with, say, an SMG in your hand, you can shoot it with one hand as you're falling.
    Characters- Roman is the hilarious but anoying cousin who wants to go bowling. Brucie is the steroidal gut who worries about his ego too much. Little Jacob is your cool smoker who takes you on shootout missions and is like a brother to Niko.
    Map- Liberty is smaller than San Andreas or V, but there is so many things to do. Broker, the immigrant community. Bohan, the poorer and gangster part of the city. Algonquin, the glamorous and rich part of Liberty. Alderney, not being a part of Liberty City, is the wasteland type of city.
    Mechanics- Niko can use ATM's. Too many combat animations, which is nice, because I don't want a repetitive game. Parkour is the best in any game. If you're hanging off a ledge, you ca move side to side, or stay there forever. When falling from, say, the top of a shop, Niko will take damage and try to keep his balance, or if the roof is lower, he will curl up into ball, unharmed.
    This is a great game, and nothing can beat it. There are so many things upgraded from San Andreas, or done better than V did.    … Expand

    The only thing that still surprises me is that Iran is in my drawer. GTA SA and GTA V are much more popular than this game !!

    The story about the mafia, diamonds, drugs and how they pass from one hand to another creating mini-stories that create the main story is masterful, a masterpiece this game

    The online didn't have much content but it managed to be a lot of fun with just a few missions, races, deathmatches and a free world at the airport

    Details as incredible as that niko improves his English over time or if you fail the mission will have new dialogues, internet, physics, driving, the a.i. and many more details that to this day continue to surprise me.

    The b.s.o. It is good with its main theme and stations like the journey, the gunplay improved a lot compared to other gta as being able to aim manually or automatically depending on the pressure of the trigger or cover yourself even rolling to a cover

    Every time I play it again I discover or remember some detail that seems incredible to me that it was in 2.008

Aunque es un poco infravalorado si lo comparamos con el 5 o el san andreas vale la pena principalmente por su historia profunda y obscura y sus dlc el único juego de gta (hasta el momento) en tener dlc de modo historia además su jugabilidad es bastante cómoda y entretenida y no podemos olvidar los personajes como niko, Román, packie, brucy kibuts,¡¡El mejor de la saga en mi opinión!!     They are still the king's of open worlds. Attention to details and atmosphere level is over the top! :) GTA IV doesn't have good optimization on the start. And on PC version they have that annoying (Games for Windows Live). I think only one year ago they delete that Windows registration.But game is still fantastic game

Версии для ПC я могу поставить достойную десятку, как для игры с невероятно прорывной графикой для своего года, интересным геймплеем и его фишками, мрачной и серой атмосферой Нью Йорка, интересными персонажами (как это обычно бывает уЯ приблизительно осознаю, почему у четвёртой части всё так плохо с пользовательскими оценками на ПК, но не понимаю, почему всё так плохо на ПС и Хбоксе. Версии для ПC я могу поставить достойную десятку, как для игры с невероятно прорывной графикой для своего года, интересным геймплеем и его фишками, мрачной и серой атмосферой Нью Йорка, интересными персонажами (как это обычно бывает у Рокстар, только ключевыми) и невероятно классной проработкой и техническим составляющем, которая по сей день может достойно конкурировать с современными играми, а если брать в пример игры EA и Юбисофт - вообще быть на верху спустя 10 лет.

    El cénit de la franquicia GTA, he completado la mayoria de los titulos que constituyen esta sublime saga, pero GTA 4 ha sido para mi un deleite en todo sentido, ha sido el mas divertido y entretenido de todos, muy superior al quinto juego principal y solamente tiene parangón con vice city y san andreas.

    Better written storyline, better written characters, more detailed, responsive and satisfying gunplay and driving physics, better and more varied AI (No cops killing everyone at first sight, no NPCs going defensive over you standing around, way more pedestrian activities), far more dense and better designed city with tons of interiors and NPC variety, better side activities focused mostly on crime stuff (Vigilante, Most Wanted, Assassinations, Jacob's Drug Deliveries, Brucie's and Stevie's car thefts, etc), rather than just casual themed bullsh*t (Tennis, Golf and Yoga), more balanced wanted system and enemy AI (No enemies with pin-point aka Terminator accuracy, no unrealistic speed-busts while on chases, no 2-3 minutes to lose a wanted level), less restrictive mission design, single player DLCs (TLAD and TBoGT alone are far more worth it than ALL of the updates in GTA Online), no microtransactions, etc. etc

    Yet casuals act like GTA V is better because "mOaR cOnTent" (More than a half of it that they probably don't even touch more than once).    … Expand

    2022, still a very interesting game, big and dynamic open world map to explore, with an average IA, but that havent aged well in gameplay mechanics, plus car crash and collisions are very frustratings, no so much weapons, tons of bugs, even ur car can dissapear! but overall a good game

With its gritty, dark, story and massive New York City-inspired map, Liberty City. A Yugoslavian War Veteran whose past consisted of selling, beating, and killing people and children arrives to Liberty City for a fresh new start, But after his cousin is beat-up by Loan-Sharks, his life changes forever as he has to repay the debt of his cousin by turning to the criminal underworld. In GTA IV, you will experience betrayal by the people you think are your closest friends, you will betray people yourself who are your "close friends" and you will have an arsenal of weapons and cars to mess around with in an Ugly, dark, city like Liberty City with the Euphoria Engine Physics. It's a castle for the rich, and a wooden shack for the poor which your character will go through these changes. Have fun in this game, but remember.     This game is still number one today to play now that people are pretty much tired of GTA V this one has more stuff that GTA V is missing in the physics are funny even though the driving controls is trash but the game looks and feels more realistic than GTA V and of course the online servers for GTA IV is going strong nowadays even at 3am they’re still up

    This game is the best GTA to date. It's so much fun that I can't wait to play it when I get home from work! The missions are fun and easy and I hope they stay that way.Good job Rockstar!

    Comparable to GTA III the first time you played it. Superb storyline. Been a while since I've played a game this fun. Loses a point because the humor that we saw in GTA III isn't really there (where's lazlow when you need him?!). They might as well of just had people randomly say "Republicans are stoopid" followed by a laugh track and some random swearing, since that's Comparable to GTA III the first time you played it.     I'd give it a 9.25 if I could, but this will suffice. The game is pretty damn good with the best story that GTA has had so far. The graphics are great, with some problems of graphic pop-in (I read that the ps3 verision has this problem a little less, but not much). The multiplayer is pretty decent, but there are some complaints. For example, after you play a ranked match, you are kicked back into the party mode instead of just searching for another match. If you are kicked out of the multiplayer game completely, it loads up the singleplayer again, which is just a waste of time. The load time are long (both single and multi) but not too frequent, and I'm patient enough to wait a whole 10 seconds or so during loading screens (the initial load is much longer, lasting closer to 30 seconds, but I didn't actually time it). All in all, it is a Game of the Year contender, but GTA will find it very difficult when competing against Metal Gear Solid 4, Fallout 3, and Gears of War 2. Buy the game (should take over 30 hours if you do some side missions).… Expand

    This game really has brought GTA to its finest. Although I would prefer San Andreas over this, GTA 4 is a ery good game as it is. THe graphics are very nice, as good as they can get. I donâ??t disagree with the magazine reviews or other play.com reviewers, GTA4 is a contender for Game of the Year but take away the polished graphics and what you have is GTA3 with extra contend and better thought out gameplay, donâ??t get me wrong GTA4 is fantastic and if youâ??re a fan of the GTA series then this should be part of your collection without question. Hopefully they donâ??t bother with a Vice City remake and go straight to the San Andreas remake.… Expand

Has that godfather type pacing, so does not grab you by the throat from the outset like, say, Bioshock or COD 4, but this is a different creature. Why not a 10? Controls. Maybe its just me, but I find them a bit sluggish, on foot in particular. Targeting system is still not as proper FPS like saints row 4. The targeting system is not as good as the one in crackdown 5. Not enough variety of clothing 6.     GTA IV belongs in your game collection. It is clear how much thought has gone into this game, and it is superb. This isn't coming from a GTA buff either. I am new to the series and am quite impressed. There are a ton of activities to do and so much to see. It's up to you how the game plays out, so what you put in is what you get out of it. The cell phone integration works well also and adds a more social side, which helps to make it an even more memorable experience. Even after you get bored of single player, there are plenty of multiplayer modes such as Cops and Crooks, Hangmans Noose (a personal favorite), deathmatch (of course) and free roam. These can be a hoot when you get all your friends together and just go at it. I can't tell you how much you need to experience this game. At bare minimum rent it, and see what everyone is talking about.… Expand

You can't judge this game without taking the time to get deep into the single player and multiplayer.     XBox- Not quite a 10 due to graphical issues, worst pop-in in any game ive ever seen. although the amount of content is the reason, i understand. i believe many wouldnt have minded an additional month pushback if some of these errors would have been taken care of. PS3- although no DLC, theres plenty of game there to be ammused with. the pop-in, wait a min....there is no pop-ins! Basically, every mission has you calling a guy, or getting summoned to your "employers" home/base to watch a short but always entertaining cutscene that explains your mission. then you drive to your destination and complete your task. Steal a car, assassinate someone, deliver drugs, etc. After you are done, you get your pay. While it is fun, it gets old doing it literally dozens of times. Because that is all the game has you doing over and over. Now before GTA fanatics flame me, i know there are many other things you can do. Exploring the city by just driving is great on its own, plus doing many other side stories, dating, going out with friends, whatever. But the gameplay is what matters most, and for me, its too redundant. There are the occasional missions with little innovative twists to the game (hopping on the back of a truck, getting ambushed by gangs/cops, deciding on who to kill when both people hired you to kill each other) but they are not enough to make the game feel fresh. that's my only problem with the game preventing me, like most other usual critics, from giving GTAIV a perfect score. No doubt a great game, but when the game play is that repetitive with very little changes, i can't possibly consider it to be one of the best of all time. Definitely worth playing or even buying, but even more so, definitely overrated.… Expand

    Not a revolution, but rather a delivered promise of a refined formula that reveals detail like no other game has. GTA 4 is not without its flaws, but none of them are able to take the spotlight away from the experience as a whole. Special attention goes to the context of the narrative and gameplay that have sobered up since the series' latest title.

The depth of the characters and world finds me going on fewer killing sprees and often running from police rather than slaying them, and to be honest, there's something awesomely revolutionary and superior about a GTA world full of characters I want to keep around.     One of the best games ever, story is great and you get to make choices that can change the direction the story goes in. Multiplayer is good too, a great laugh with mates. The only reason to not give it a 10 is the pop ups, I knew the game would have random pop ups due to the speed you can tear around a gigantic city that is so very detailed. A must own for all gaming fans.

    This game is phenominal but a 10/10? Nah let's all take a deep breath. and relax. In the end GTA IV comes down to: more of the same in a solid game franchise with smoothed rough edges (targetting), and a loads of content. But groundbreaking? Not in a San Andreas kind of way.

    this game is great the first time i played the thing i was most amazed about were the graphics the only thing I really dont like is that the camera is sometimes bad but thats about it. If i had this choice I would give it a 9.9/10.

    Excellent game but because of the fact that I have only played the game for about 5 hours I just can´t give it 10/10 for the moment. It is a must-buy game for all GTA fans!

The game is huge, with detailed environments, excellent lighting effects and packed full of things to do. If you do not like the concept of the whole GTA series you aint gonna like this, period. That is the thing, why people feel they need to review a game and give it 0 or 1, when clearly the time and effort alone involved in crafting the environments warrants a much higher score is beyond me! Yes I agree the general gameplay of the previous series is unchanged other than tweaking the gun play, physics etc, but lets face it there was not a lot wrong with the original games. I think there are very minor and I mean minor issues with frame rates at times but other than that the movement, environments etc are spot on with an excellent and interesting story line, the gameplay is very varied, god I would rather spend hours replaying this than some damn awful overhyped FPS, the FPS genre has been around since the dawn of time and yet they are still as boring as hell after a while, at least this game makes you want to come back time after time, even if it is just to burn down the streets in a stolen car, its pure escapism in a huge believable city. Awesome, enjoy it for what it is, and those of you that cannot accept a good game when you see one......take up knitting or something!… Expand
