This game feels like a turn-based game badly disguised into an action game. Think of God of War (2005, yes nearly a decade before Diablo III) or even Return of the King (2003!) as examples of good gameplay mechanics: evade, parry, counter-attack, etc. As it is, Diablo III is just a very poor example of gameplay mechanics: no real strategy there, just smash the buttons as fast as possible (Gauntlet, somebody?), no blocking (what is a shield for ? Oh, wait, you don't see it but it blocks automatically, as indicated by the onscreen message, sometimes even when your enemy is stabbing you in the back) or evading, and upgrade your weapons to do more damage. Add to that the lack of feedback when you get hit (no recoil or scream of your character, the only clue is the red bar going down...). After a few hours of repetitive, mindless killing and boring dungeon explorations, I had enough. I got this game for really cheap (5$) at a sale, and believe me, it is not worth much more than this. This should never have been a fully-priced game, an XBox Arcade at best (and some XBox Arcade are actually much more interesting). Expand

Beat Act V, Been playing the new Crusader class, and did a run through of Act I in Adventure mode and I must say that Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is simply amazing! Gone are the annoying pages for upgrade gems, the main story has some little added touches to make things feel a bit fresh, Crusader class is a beast and a blast to play, Act V is by far the best act, new environments, monsters, loot... all in all a vast improvement over the original.

After I beat the Boss in Act V I got a surprising drop, a ring that summons a treasure Goblin who picks up useless trash items and turn them into magical loot after a set amount to trash it picked up. It is so cool having the little guy run around with me cleaning up trash and periodically dropping loot. I assume the ring was a random drop so you many or may not get it on your play-through.

The adventure mode is a blast and loots to have different tiers so after you beat Adventure mode you start again on the next tier and the fun continues. Also the settings take on a bit of a different look in Adventure mode which makes the game feel fresh.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is in every way better than Diablo III and a must buy if you are a fan of the series.

Ok, I bought Diablo 3 for the console release day. I was thrilled with it until I came across needing pages and tomes for smithing and jewel crafting. I preordered Ultimate Evil edition mainly just to get the 5th act and crusader. But was more than pleasantly surprised with blizzard revamping the entire game to be 99% closer to the pc version. Adding stuff to the items, smithing, a mail and gift system, and more. Basically they took everything I disliked about the console version threw it away and added what made the pc version great. I've been rating and reviewing games on here for a while now and this is one of the few I've given a perfect score. Expand

This is my very first time playing a Diablo game, I was pressured by my co-workers and finally caved and rented the game. An absolute must have for anyone still playing an Xbox 360. I removed a point because to really enjoy the game you must load the disc onto your hard drive or you will lag and have longer loading screens. This flaw makes the game nearly unplayable in multi-player mode and should have been address by Blizzard.

This extension is really great for replay value. I love the original game, and this addition just makes it that much more enjoyable. I especially love playing it on local co-op.

They have updated this game to hell. I got a legendary item belonging to the first boss before I even got to him..... god this is lifeless. You can stand still without taking damage, it feels like a dead MMO

This is the best version of Diablo III to date. It feels right, it's hugely addictive and it has the ability to dilate local spacetime like a good ARPG should. [Issue#253, p.65]
