AlJFeb 18, 2010This is a beautifull game with fantastic controls and graphics. Lot's of people compare this to God of War, but I don't look at it like that (And unlike GOW 1&2, I actually will bother beating Dantes Inferno!) If you have any interest in the Divine Comedy (On which this game is loosely based) your gonna be in for a treat. One of the best $60 purchases I've made in awhile!

Dec 2, 2010Absolutely excellent game! Yes, it is very similar to God of War, so if you've had enough of it then avoid this. If you're looking for more GOW style fun or don't have a PS3 like me, then this is the GOW equivalent for the XBOX.

Apr 19, 2011Lifts a lot of ideas from God of War but when they are employed this well, who cares? Extremely satisfying combat and adventuring down through the inferno, most of which is highly distinctive thanks in part to the amazing art on the environments. Coupled with some pretty epic boss encounters, this is a fun and furious experience although it does perhaps wane a little in the final few circles.

Jun 19, 2011Dante's Inferno is one of the most entertaining games I have ever played. At first, I was hesitant to pick it up because of the not so stellar reviews but it turned out to be a good decision. In terms of gameplay, Dante's Inferno is a God of War rip-off for sure; however, its scene--hell--is completely different. Quality product, buy it!

MehFeb 9, 2010Maybe they should have put more time into the game and less into designing that huge interactive website to market it. Very unfun for all the reasons stated by more critical reviews; bland, repetitive, and in my opinion generally boring. God of War homage/ripoff or not it just isn't fun to play.

Jan 22, 2011A++ I loved this game and I will take it any day over God of War. Very dark and epic. I enjoyed every minute of it. Pay no attention to the critics, they don't know anything better other than Halo.

Nov 8, 2010what a pity..everything about the game is promising. but it's broken up by a subpar combat system. comparison with GoW was inevitable and on combat alone it was just nowhere as brutal and nowhere as fluid. Entertaining while it lasted but would not recommend it to anyone.

MarkWFeb 9, 2010Such a shame that people keep comparing this to God of War and rating it DOWN because it's so similar. The similarities are a good thing because Dante's Inferno is a brilliant game. Richly detailed, frenetic, satisfying - a Metascore of 74 does not do it justice and I think the lower scores, sub 80%, are a travesty. Perhaps a tenth circle should be added for moronic reviewers.

MichaelWFeb 10, 2010Needed a bit more polish. Small things like flat lighting & color pallet, lack of alternate weapons, and poor difficulty scaling prevent me from getting really into the game. The story is fine, the cut scenes are nice, and the basic combat is enjoyable (though not as tight as one might expect from a high budget action game). Worth playing once.

AdamBFeb 9, 2010This is not God of War, it is Dante's Inferno, and it is AWESOME!! Sick and twisted, dark and demented! Why lower your review because it isn't as epic as the game it emulates? Still a worthwhile gaming enjoyment!!

Aug 20, 2016Outstanding soundtrack, very unique and beautiful art style, voice acting is top notch, the story simply well, the game is addictive, boss battles are really really good... Gameplay is copy and paste from God of War? Sure, but it is done well, which is important and that is the ONLY thing that Dante's Inferno has copied, the whole rest of the thing is pure innovative!

Nov 21, 2010Ok i just wanna say this i see ppl saying that this is unoriginal, like it is a rip off of GoW, well this is actully based off a book that was written in the 1500's, by a guy named Dante so how could it then be a rip off of a game made 500 yrs later

The accomplished combat and surprisingly decent adaptation of the story make Dante's Inferno a fine diversion while you wait for the next button-masher... One based in a different set of mythology.
-
Another major annoyance is the save system. You can only save at designated statues, and there are only two or three per level.
-
All in all, it was a fun trip though hell, even with one circle being lackluster and the game feeling rather short, I still have no issues or moral objections to recommending Dante's Inferno for fans of this genre.
