AlJFeb 18, 2010This is a beautifull game with fantastic controls and graphics. Lot's of people compare this to God of War, but I don't look at it like that (And unlike GOW 1&2, I actually will bother beating Dantes Inferno!) If you have any interest in the Divine Comedy (On which this game is loosely based) your gonna be in for a treat. One of the best $60 purchases I've made in awhile!

Dec 2, 2010Absolutely excellent game! Yes, it is very similar to God of War, so if you've had enough of it then avoid this. If you're looking for more GOW style fun or don't have a PS3 like me, then this is the GOW equivalent for the XBOX.

Apr 19, 2011Lifts a lot of ideas from God of War but when they are employed this well, who cares? Extremely satisfying combat and adventuring down through the inferno, most of which is highly distinctive thanks in part to the amazing art on the environments. Coupled with some pretty epic boss encounters, this is a fun and furious experience although it does perhaps wane a little in the final few circles.

Jun 19, 2011Dante's Inferno is one of the most entertaining games I have ever played. At first, I was hesitant to pick it up because of the not so stellar reviews but it turned out to be a good decision. In terms of gameplay, Dante's Inferno is a God of War rip-off for sure; however, its scene--hell--is completely different. Quality product, buy it!

MehFeb 9, 2010Maybe they should have put more time into the game and less into designing that huge interactive website to market it. Very unfun for all the reasons stated by more critical reviews; bland, repetitive, and in my opinion generally boring. God of War homage/ripoff or not it just isn't fun to play.

Jan 22, 2011A++ I loved this game and I will take it any day over God of War. Very dark and epic. I enjoyed every minute of it. Pay no attention to the critics, they don't know anything better other than Halo.
-
Nov 8, 2010what a pity..everything about the game is promising. but it's broken up by a subpar combat system. comparison with GoW was inevitable and on combat alone it was just nowhere as brutal and nowhere as fluid. Entertaining while it lasted but would not recommend it to anyone.

MarkWFeb 9, 2010Such a shame that people keep comparing this to God of War and rating it DOWN because it's so similar. The similarities are a good thing because Dante's Inferno is a brilliant game. Richly detailed, frenetic, satisfying - a Metascore of 74 does not do it justice and I think the lower scores, sub 80%, are a travesty. Perhaps a tenth circle should be added for moronic reviewers.

MichaelWFeb 10, 2010Needed a bit more polish. Small things like flat lighting & color pallet, lack of alternate weapons, and poor difficulty scaling prevent me from getting really into the game. The story is fine, the cut scenes are nice, and the basic combat is enjoyable (though not as tight as one might expect from a high budget action game). Worth playing once.

AdamBFeb 9, 2010This is not God of War, it is Dante's Inferno, and it is AWESOME!! Sick and twisted, dark and demented! Why lower your review because it isn't as epic as the game it emulates? Still a worthwhile gaming enjoyment!!

Aug 20, 2016Outstanding soundtrack, very unique and beautiful art style, voice acting is top notch, the story simply well, the game is addictive, boss battles are really really good... Gameplay is copy and paste from God of War? Sure, but it is done well, which is important and that is the ONLY thing that Dante's Inferno has copied, the whole rest of the thing is pure innovative!
-
Nov 21, 2010Ok i just wanna say this i see ppl saying that this is unoriginal, like it is a rip off of GoW, well this is actully based off a book that was written in the 1500's, by a guy named Dante so how could it then be a rip off of a game made 500 yrs later

Nov 29, 2011It was ok. Its entertaing for a bit but it gets rather old and repetitive pretty quickly. Unoriginal combat system. Outstanding voice acting though and it makes the cut scenes seem like its a mini-animated film within the game. The potential is there.

Feb 1, 2012This game is probably the number one most underrated game of all time. Its like everyone got on the bandwagon of hate. Every war shooter has the same controls, scenery and plots, but every critic will **** their pants about it. EA or whoever did a great job of an original story; outstanding, artistic graphics; and one hell of a fun game with awesome combos! (that got ripped off, blah blah)

Jun 26, 2020The controls handle well, the graphics are good and Dante's Inferno is actually quite an enjoyable experience. It's bloody, gruesome and crazy, so I'm glad there's an age rating of 18 slapped on there.

Apr 20, 2015Dante's inferno is not the most graphically impressive game ever made but it has good controls average story and the puzzles in this game can be annoying and halt progress for a few minutes to a few hours but overall its a polished hack and slash game
-
Oct 26, 2015After playing this for the 3rd time (twice on PS3 and once on Xbox 360) The game has aged very well and is still a great play. Visuals are very fitting, story is great, game play spot on.

Mar 20, 2016Este jogo é incrÃvel! Eu recebi e ainda não posso parar de jogar. Os gráficos são tão detalhadas para um game e é desafiador, mas divertido e terá que jogar por horas! A história é complexa e profundamente pensado. O melhor jogo que eu já joguei de forma

Jul 6, 2021Excellent hack'n slash game, following the trail of classic 'God of War' series. The only negative thing I can say is that there are no sequels. It's a pity that the studio responsible for it closed down after its release. 100% recommendable

Apr 25, 2021We are 2021, I had always wanted to play this game, I played it on xbox series x, it entertained me, it is fun, but in the end it collapses for an endgame that did not conclude as it should.

Jan 1, 2022amazing game, amazing jugability, and amazing story, only one bad thing very annoying, YOU CAN NOT SKIP THE CINEMATICS!!!, you are going to die a lot of times and every time you must to see the cinematic, it is incredible annoying

Aug 21, 2021At the time, if you were looking to play something close to the original God Of War series then this tried. It was nowhere near GoW but it still was a good game.
-
Sep 12, 2021Dante's Inferno game is the great example of classic piece of art, that you can enjoy with gamepad in your hand. Although visuals isn't best in the world, game feels pretty solid
-
Jun 29, 2023I love GOW, but this game is better, no more... Darker theme and super fun skills. A shame it didn't have a sequel. To me, it's better than the new GOW. If you haven't played it yet, it's definitely worth the experience.
-
Nov 4, 2022Amazing game with great story, very immersive. And I've played it for the first time in 2022! 12 years after release, still looks great. Descending into the depths of hell to rescue Beatrice was really cool.
Awards & Rankings
-
The accomplished combat and surprisingly decent adaptation of the story make Dante's Inferno a fine diversion while you wait for the next button-masher... One based in a different set of mythology.
-
Another major annoyance is the save system. You can only save at designated statues, and there are only two or three per level.
-
All in all, it was a fun trip though hell, even with one circle being lackluster and the game feeling rather short, I still have no issues or moral objections to recommending Dante's Inferno for fans of this genre.
