    Reviewers that said the AI was bad must have been playing a different game. My team mates are constantly shooting at enemies and at times I have to look in the direction of their fire to find the creatures. As for the creatures having bad AI, again I don't know what some reviewers were thinking by critisizing the enemy for coming straight at you.     Jericho claims to be a jump-out-of-your-seat horror game, but it just isn't. There is a hell of a lot of blood, but gore doesn't equal scary, gore is just a cheap excuse for horror. Clive Barker has created some messed up stuff in his time, but this is anything but scary in the most remote sense. Graphics are okay but anything but life changing.     My favourite game. I played the game many times) Good gameplay, good history, diversity. And my favourite character - Lt. Abigail Black) her phantom bullet - something unreal is cool

    The game is very good, I played it as a child and even now I still find it a great game, as a child I did not understand much, but now I love the story that is telling and the lore of the characters well defined. I didn't understand the ending but after several years I understood it and that's when it became my favorite game.

    Great graphics - rivaling Halo 3 and Orange Box. The character switching mechanic is fun and each character is varied technique. Refreshing new theme for FPS genre w/ quite atmospheric settings. I'm having a blast w/ Jericho.

    Actually the game presents a fun and frantic gameplay, the ambience is great, and the capability of switching between characters (each of them with absolutely different abilities from another) is very original.

    Somebody tell me why this game has had such a bad rating? Maybe this game was made for people like me but with the gripping storyline, and the game mechanics this has to be one of the finest games i've played. If you love twisted horror stories, (and clive barker knows how to write those) well you'll love this.     A good non-stop action filled FPS that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It also happens to have a unique and creepy story with interesting characters and decent voice acting. I believe it deserves better scores then it is getting for the most part because few FPS games attempt to do anything different and fewer still try to tell a captivating story. Jericho does both.

    this game isn't as bad as the reviewers say it is. since its not super hyped and a futuristic shooter (like Halo) they are biased. note that the user rating is 14 points higher. 1up.com gave this game a 3!!! and the reasons were bad voice acting, enemy variety....Halo 3 has 4 different enemies.....LOL this is a great game, pick it up

    Great game... already playing it for the second time to get all the achievements. Great monster and stage desgin (which is mostly great on Rome) and breath taking action. On my account it's got as great action as the best first person shooters, but then again it does have a lot of points in which it lacked some effort. The button sequences weren't that great and not at all a challenge (if those wouldn't have existed at all it wouldn't have mattered... which is not the case for resident evil 4 or god of war). The graphics.... uhm well I really can't see why everyone says it was such a bad job, when you see a monster covered up with blood and guts and you can tell theres some lower intestine in between then I can say there was a really great job in graphics.… Expand

    This game KICKED MAJOR ASS. I cant speak for anyone else but to me, MANY FPS's are way to similar. Jericho does things in a FPS that feel VERY unique and fresh. Great story (it had me hooked) awesome graphics (it wouldnt be surprising if u thought it ran on the unreal 3 engine,it looks beautiful,monsters and levels are extremely detailed),awesome boss battles,awesome powers that the This game KICKED MAJOR ASS.     All those complaints are accurate. Yet this is one of the most fun, exciting, awesome looking, and nerve wracking games I've ever played.

    I went zip lining across treetops in Mexico once. It was cold on the speed boat that took us to the peninsula. The exhaust from the leaded gasoline engine of the bus we road through several tiny Mexican villages stung my nose. The donkeys we road to the top of the mountain smelled bad. You get my point. If you look for bad stuff, you'll find it anywhere. I find it hard to take seriously folks who complain about a game because it has less-than-ideal game mechanics when that game presents you with dozens of "I've never seen that before in a game" moments. Here are the things I loved (spoilers):
      - The blood and viscera carpeted walled enclosures.
      - The yellow-pustuled exploders appearing as you round a corner.
      - The crucified wretches you can put out of their misery--or not.
      - The ferocious slashers whose speedy attacks are satisfyingly stopped with a headshot.
      - Black's slow motion sniper shot that can take out multiple enemies
      - The disgusting yet beautiful shiny reflection of your flashlight against the organics-coated hellscapes. Soooo deeply and deliciously RED!
      - Music scored to push your squirming brain to the edge of madness.
      - Level design that presents regularly vistas of enormous scale and of nightmarish design.
    - Atmospheric effects that have you peering unblinking into the depths in search of the visual cues that might keep you alive.
      - Creature design that could teach Hieronymus Bosch something about the grotesque.

    If you are a first person shooter fan who expects the conventions of the genre, this may not be your game.  If you like well executed artistic design and unusual experiences, you may like this title. In short, if you have patience to put up with some deficiencies in execution in order to experience a one-of-a-kind sensory experience, buy this game.    … Expand

    Good story, exelent graphics and game play, and just the right amount of gore. Sadly its way too short for a single player only game with the only unlockables being character bios. it could have really kicked up its replayability if their was a multiplayer or coop component, unfortinutly only a rental is needed to fully enjoy this game.

The game is simply well-crafted enough and explosive enough to warrant playing if you're a FPS fan. No, it won't blow your mind after HL 2, BioShock, Halo 3 etc., but Jericho is a fun and mature shooter you should at least rent. It's good for a Wow, that 30 from 1UP is absurd.     Solid Clive Barker horror game. I would have ranked it higher except for the poor squad controls and the HORRIBLE use of stupid console gimmicks... like hitting arrows in a timed manner.

    You want a game with an incredible storyline, innovative game play, and several different ways to attack something? Try Clive Barker's Jericho. This title is amazing with the graphics and the six person change up. Its nice to be able to use all the different kinds of guns you want without the unrealistic aspect of carrying them all by yourself.     I have played Halo 3 and went through it but in spite of great graphics, sound and AI I didn't feel adrenaline rush at all playing it. Multiplayer in also boring in here. So I sold it but Jericho is still with me. Probably Jericho is not so well developed as HL 3 but it has something that previous one doesn't have at all. It gives me creeps with blood, bodies, rivers of blood I have played Halo 3 and went through it but in spite of great graphics, sound and AI I didn't feel adrenaline rush at all playing it. Game is too short of course and there is only single player campaign in here,.Unfortunately weak sales and poor reviews will probably make impossible to publish next adventure of Jericho team as it was primarily intended. This is not FPS for everybody but If you are FPS fan you can rent it to go through. I think you will enjoy it.… Expand

    I felt like this was a fantastic game, AI was awesome and switching between them was very unique. I replay the game all the time. The dark story was different and the gore was perfect. The story could have been longer though. I have played other Clive Baker games like Undying which did scare me but jericho does not make want to keep the lights on after playing which did disappoint me.I felt like this was a fantastic game, AI was awesome and switching between them was very unique.     I recently bought this game for £5 and really enjoyed it. Its cheap and worth picking up. It is extremely refreshing when compared to the stupid samey FPS market of today. I'm having a blast playing this game, so much so i threw my MW3 to the side and now just play this for my shooting kicks. Yes the ending is a alls up but it leaves it open to a sequel, a sequel I think they should make. A unique and interesting story and frantastic gameplay and art style more than make up for its faults and buggy AI. Buy it. Now. Its only a few quid.… Expand

Jericho may not be a brilliant masterpiece, remembered for years to come, but it is definitely a shining star in a genre that tends to become repetitive and dull.

    The story is probably the best part of this game. You begin as Captain Devin Ross, leader of the Jericho squad. The mission of Jericho is to eliminate paranormal threats with their own supernatural abilities. Accompanying you is 6 other team members, each with their own unique capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses. You're called out into the desert, to the ruins of an ancient Sumerian city, to confront a powerful creature older than time itself. Pretty cool, huh?

    I won't give too much away, but you end up progressing through missions with the ability to switch between members of Jericho, taking advantage of everyone's powers and weapons. Some characters, such as Jones, aren't the most useful in combat, but are used during certain scenes where you need to cut off enemy lines or barricades. While Black may be the most used character for traditional combat, each one has their own individual traits that are useful in certain situations. The characters interact well with each other, with many scenes peppered with some great dialogue. A few may be forgettable, but almost all are supported by a great cast.

    Combat and controls are smooth, right at home with any other FPS. RT to shoot, RB/LB to use powers, A to interact, D-pad to control squad. There are no run or jump features, but they're not really missed in this title. The paths are very linear, and usually found by following the enemies. Speaking of which, are pretty badass. Each stage has exclusive enemies, many of which have been humans horribly disfigured and re-purposed by the Firstborn. Towards the end of the game there are a few enemies that are rather difficult to take down, and require team tactics to kill. Other than that, most enemies are disappointingly simple and easy to telegraph.

    The game itself is very short, and can be completed in a few hours. The stages you travel through are all vertical slices of history, each with a unique look and feel to the way you interact with NPC's and the environment. Most of my issues with this game stem from the simple fact that I find it to be too short, an additional stage could have easily been added in without making the game too lengthy or overbearing, and the ideas are almost limitless on what that stage could have been in the historical context.

    A short review, but there's not a whole lot to say. A great shooter with an incredible story, brought down only by its length and a few uninteresting characters. A sequel would be amazing.

Yes, I'm aware that this game is extremely old by gaming standards, but I acquired it for a mere $4.00 and figured I'd post my opinion on it. With an original storyline from one of the masters of horror, Clive Barker, and a decent developer at the helm (Codemasters is solid for the most part), it's easy to see why this game received so much hype before release. Graphically, for its time, it was one of the sharpest-looking games out there. Unfortunately, when all is said and done, pretty graphics and a top-notch pedigree are simply not enough to craft a triple A experience. The game starts you off as Ross, captain of a Navy SEAL-esque squad known as the Jericho team that is capable of wielding supernatural powers.Through a chain of events related to the storyline, the player eventually gains the ability to switch between squad members instantly, with each squad member possessing their own unique weapons and abilities. Surprisingly, this is one of the few mechanics that actually works extremely well throughout the game. Each squad member's unique powers are extremely fun and Codemasters even managed to incorporate this mechanic as part of the storyline rather than just a gameplay gimmick. The action is explosively fast-paced and the game rarely lets up, which is actually one of its downfalls. The non-stop shooting becomes extremely tiresome, blasting through wave after wave of the same enemies. In fact, the majority of the campaign consists of walking through a bland and colorless environment before proceeding to blast through a seemingly endless supply of baddies. And while the combat is occasionally fun, the game once again manages to strike out with a host of technical issues. The actual shooting (this game is a first-person shooter) is ridiculously incompetent, making you feel like a total idiot trying to hit most enemies. To make matters worse, unless you're scoring consistent headshots (as if), even the puniest and most basic enemies can absorb an absurd amount of bullets before going down. Most of the weapons that your squad members possess lack any sort of oomph to them and so you'll find yourself more often than not relying on your character's powers rather than their primary means of attacking. One of the biggest issues by far that I have with Jericho is the fact that your AI teammates cannot by any means revive one another should they become incapacitated during battle, save for Rawlings. However, if Rawlings also becomes incapacitated, you are apparently the only individual that can revive anyone. It may not sound like much on paper to gripe about, but it's actually an absolute nightmare during battle. Teammates constantly scream at your character to revive your fallen comrades since they are too incompetent to do so themselves and this is the primary reason that you should ever reach the GAME OVER screen. I'm not sure how difficult it would've been for Codemasters to improve the AI enough to accomplish this task, but I promise you that the game would've been significantly better if this problem did not exist. Boss battles could have been epic but wind up being quite lackluster and extremely easy, even on the higher difficulties. Gameplay mechanics aside, Jericho's storyline is actually one of the few redeeming qualities that the game possesses. Although it somewhat lacks focus, it is actually quite engaging and managed to keep me interested up until the very end. But of course, the ending is what ruined the entire experience for me. Quite simply put, it's one of those endings that will leave its audience shouting in anger as they eject the disc. Failing to explain anything that remotely needs explained, the finale is over so abruptly that you'll probably stare in disbelief as the credits roll. There's no doubt in my mind that the developers at Codemasters received scathing hate-mail for the ending. Overall, Jericho is one of those games that I imagine will have a sizable cult-following. It would be a downright lie to say that I never had any fun with the game, because I genuinely did at times. Unfortunately, these times were few and far between. As I mentioned earlier, this truly could have been a triple A title but incompetent AI, poor gameplay mechanics, repetitive gameplay, and a slap-in-the-face ending mar the overall experience. I admit, I would love to see a sequel that can hopefully remedy the abundance of issues but as of now, that will probably never happen.… Expand

    Well the first thing i can say is there is not much to this game but eye candy. I think the game only has five chapters and I gave up on it early in chapter 2. I just didn't find that much fun in the game. The shooting was very straight on and the AI was quite bad. I kept finding my AI dying and me switching bodies back and forth to revive the AI. In turn i missed the game as my AI foughtWell the first thing i can say is there is not much to this game but eye candy. I just didn't think it was worth my time i had already made it 40 % through the game by this time and just wasn't feeling anything. I think one could just watch youtube walkthroughs and get pretty close to the same experience as playing this game. A playable game for a weekend but definately not a game i would consider buying to keep. Excellent strobe light effects made you feel like you were in a firefight, I really enjoyed this part of the game.… Expand

    Ambientación bien conseguida en gran parte del desarrollo. Se podrían haber ahorrado algún personaje que no pinta nada en la historia, lo mismo con las opciones de elegir el tipo de bala que me parece absurdo. Controles un poco toscos.

    It was... fine. The gameplay was repetitive and boring, and it hadnt any kind of progression system. But the visuals were outstanding.

    Not scary at all and very repetitive. Switching between characters has already been done better before. I picked it up because it was so cheap. Not god awful but not groundbreaking.

    I was happy to find out that is game only took me 5 hours. It was one of those realisations where a game is just about long enough to not be completed tedious and have a bit of fun in but I can only recommend this if you have a really big fascination for bad games.    … Expand

    Clive Barker’s Jericho doesn’t provide the same degree of deep and engaging gameplay as Undying, opting instead for a more accessible, mainstream adventure that can be frightening at best, and repetitive at worst. Still, the game has no shortage of action and intensity.
