Cabela's Survival is a surprisingly decent game. My friends and I rented it to play it for the laughs, and while it is laughable and silly, it's pretty fun too. The combat is plain ridiculous, the story is bizarre, and the characters are totally weird. But, in a way, this game is fun too. It's only a rent (2 1/2 hours max), but it's fun and simple and silly all at the same time. YouCabela's Survival is a surprisingly decent game. First: Good news! This is the best Cabela's game, Now: Bad news, is boring. Cabelas's Survival Shadows of Katmai have an interesting story with a good development, have great graphics, and other good things. But the big problem is the problem that the other Cabela's games have: The reason for use the weapon, is cruel kill an animal, (yeah inclusive in a game).

The one thing that it so desperately needs -- entertainment value -- is sorely lacking in areas where it shouldn't, ultimately dragging the title down to the pit of forgotten titles.

Cabela's Survival is sold solo or bundled with the Top Shot Elite rifle controller, which offers more exacting aim during hunting sequences. But unless you expect to play (and replay) the bonus shooting galleries - railed shooters that have you blast furred and feathered wildlife in House of the Dead fashion - then a standard controller is preferred. Otherwise, the game can easily be finished in an afternoon, leaving hunting fans wondering why they wasted it playing a lackluster action-adventure game.
