    Refined mechanics and a gripping story led this series from an uncertain beginning to the massive franchise it has become today. The characters are inspired and the tie-ins to famous historical figures are something I was happily surprised to see.

    Fue un gran juego en su tiempo, por qué ha envejecido mal. Aún así este juego es uno de los mejores de la saga de Assassin's creed, cuenta con una historia larga y profunda, mecánicas de batalla diversas, personajes con los que empatizamos etc..     Overall excellent game. Stealth gameplay is the star. A simple but diverse stealth toolkit combined with intricately designed levels and a beautiful, unique setting leads to one of the best and most expansive stealth games ever made. You can see why it set the formula for years to come.

    This game is really good. A far cry better than the first game. In-fact I want to give it a 9 or a 10 but a few things keep me from that. But let's start with positives.

    - Ezio is an amazing character and this game gives him such a good backstory. - the historical story line is really fun and interesting - Venice as a setting and open world is to die for. - the movement is far better    This game is really good.     - the historical story line is really fun and interesting
    - Venice as a setting and open world is to die for.

    - the movement is far better here than in the first game.

    - the remaster has really good graphics.

    - the combat is greatly improved.

    - really great mission design and set pieces in this game.

    Here are the negatives that kept me from scoring it higher.

    - the movement though better still can be janky and have mission ruining consequences. Really frustrating in key moments.

    - the enemy AI will go from really dumb to game breakingly hard.

    - the modern narrative just is not interesting to me.

    - the remastered version adds in sequence 12-13 which were originally cut content, but were added in as DLC later, and are included as part of the base game in the collected remastered version of the game. These two sequences break the pacing of the narrative, are a slog, are confusing, and feel irrelevant. The missions in it are long and frustrating (a nine person assassination mission across an entire map, I kid you not). These additional sequences put the game's momentum to a halt. Ubisoft, next time just leave cut content cut.    … Expand

    "Assassin's Creed II" is a huge improvement over its predecessor. Featuring a great story, likeable protagonist and good mission variety, it represents a course correction. This is what the first AC should've been all along. The open-world is amazing and the gameplay is fantastic. I would easily compare it to "Grand Theft Auto III". Players that become bored with the first installment will"Assassin's Creed II" is a huge improvement over its predecessor. Featuring a great story, likeable protagonist and good mission variety, it represents a course correction. This is what the first AC should've been all along.     This is the best Assassin's creed so far , might always be. I still remember playing it years ago, and did it again via the Ezio Collection. This game is a masterpiece, if you didnt played yet, you should. This is a classic.

    I really wanted to enjoy this game, I loved it as a child and now that I'm trying to playa adult well it's just say that it felt like I was playing it tutorial for 4 hours and I think the painting in start of the game is awful I mean I like what it's sitting up but it's just so slow. I would say the game kind of legs Focus in the start of the game it just feels like too much padding.     Outdated, boring and extremely overrated. AC got good with AC 4 Black Flag, Everything before that was meaningless, soulless and boring. Ezio is extremely unlikable, because he is not serious enough. I want my main character to be actually serious and emotional, that's why Arno from Unity and even Aiden from Watch Dogs are million times more likable and relatable characters.     Не очень понятно, почему у этой игры такие оценки. Сюжет про месть, геймлей тоже далеко не шедевр, графика средняя. Концовка вообще мега тупая, что-то на уровне фильмов с Адамом Сэндлером.

    the best assassin. no more words. I ain't critic for throught a lot of good words and reasons to buy this game. I just give you an advice. If you like a good story, parkour yamakasi style and the best ubisoft gameplay ever. You need that game. 10 for me.

Great story tiling, the same characters, the new mechanics are good, and the old mechanics from the first part also migrated well into the second part of the game.     I loved the perfect design, the brilliant rendition of the historical epoch and the beauty of Italian cities. I had been to Florence and Venice myself, and I had a déjà vu when walking in some places in game.
    The often tedious gameplay is well offset by a great plot and art. Anyone should play this before proceeding to the latest games of the series.

    This game rescues the essence of your predecessor, improving the system of battle that was a poor point of AC and giving us the great Ezio, that really embraces the serie.
    A weaky side is the same error that was in the game of Altaïr: side quests that increases nothing to the plot and were too boring.

    Pros: - You cannot randomly jump from building to building randomly without thinking, because one wrong jump from rooftop to ground will deplete Ezio's life a great deal. This is an improvement from AC1, where you could jump around mindlessly. - There is more humor in the dialog,    An enormous improvement from Assassin's Creed I in terms of gameplay, and a great sequel as a story.

    Pros:

    - You cannot randomly jump from building to building randomly without thinking, because one wrong jump from rooftop to ground will deplete Ezio's life a great deal. This is an improvement from AC1, where you could jump around mindlessly.

    - There is more humor in the dialog, and also the English is easier to understand compared to AC1 because this is 200 years later.

    - The game contains interesting characters, and also nicely develops Ezio as a character from the beginning of the game. The game gives you as the player an urge to defeat the Templars and those responsible for Ezio father's death with emotional cut-scenes and dialogs.

    - There is a large improvement in graphics from AC1.

    - The kingdom is a lot more open compared to AC1.

    - "The Truth" gives the game a very deep mystery. It is a great way of motivating gamers to complete the game(s) in order to know more about the plot.

    - Supporting characters throughout the game are very interesting and humorous. They all possess unique personalities.

    - The incentive and story behind each mission is more exciting and less boring than AC1.

    - The story.

    Cons:

    - At times when the game needs you to get through obstacles fast either chasing after someone or doing a time trial, Ezio does not jump exactly where you want him. The place you want to jump to needs to be positioned precisely.

    - You cannot make Ezio do a small/medium jump off a platform. It is either drop straight down or jump as far as he can.    … Expand

    the Ezio era begins. it fixed all the **** that the first one had bugs, combat, story (in some elements) this italian assassin takes **** to another level. you meet da vinci who gives you the first flying machine...thats dope as hell. you a fan of the series? get this game, its dirt cheap now days.

    * The ending breaking the fourth wall in a sense is mesmerising. First time I saw this trick in videogames.
    * In general, now this game has great side missions. Especially the one with climbing inside the churches. Delicious.
    * The view point has much more diversity now. They get repetitive midway. But first 10 are a blast.
    * The Carnaval!

    Cons:
    * The targets and the assassinations themselves are meh. This game kinda has the Marvel movies problem. All the effort went to good guys.
    * The controls and camera are not tight enough. Even after 20+ hours the race missions feel forced and annoying. Same goes for complex jumps during puzzles. And Venice suffers because of that the most. It's just not fun to run around.
    * Some side missions feel undercooked and bugged. Especially, the ship ones. Both the templar shipyard platforming one and the merchant stealth-kill-on-a-ship one were awful. With NPCs freezing. And controls making me fail and start over again and again and again.
    * Achievement to collect 100 feathers w/o in-game hints. Ubisoft, it's not as bad as 400 flags from AC1, but it's still very-very bad.
    * Why do they need to hide HUD when you enable eagle vision?
    * I played the game on Series X as part of Ezio collection and 4K and time are not kins to this game. You can clearly see how NPCs popup in thin air and the low-res textures on the buildings further away. To some extent this rough edges are even more visible than in AC1 sue to overall better colors and contrast in the game.    … Expand

    I absolutely love this game it improves upon every aspect that the previous assassins creed had implemented in almost every except for the graphics in my opinion. The story can be a little hit or miss but it completely made up for it in gameplay and in the main character who is by far the best main character in all of the assassins creed series, hence why they made 3 games about him. HasI absolutely love this game it improves upon every aspect that the previous assassins creed had implemented in almost every except for the graphics in my opinion. The story can be a little hit or miss but it completely made up for it in gameplay and in the main character who is by far the best main character in all of the assassins creed series, hence why they made 3 games about him. Has my favorite parkour in all of the series for the great city layouts and that it made you feel more in control of the mechanic than later installments i.e. assassins creed 3 and later.     Still my favorite AC to date. One of the best stories in gaming. Ezio's growth as an assassin also translates over to his growth as a person and you see it as the story progesses. Gameplay is outdated but at release it was leaps ahead of the original. Even now in 2020 I highly recommend this game.

Voila ce qu'un deuxième épisode d'une saga doit être, un nouvelle assassin (Ezio Auditore qui est aujourd'hui un personnage culte), une nouvelle époque( le 15 eme siècle en Italie, plus précisément a florence puis a Venise), la suite de l'histoire dans le présent qui se distille petit a petit.

    parlons d'Ezio, qui est l'opposé de ce qu’était Altair, ce nouvelle assassin n'en est pas un dès le début et a tendance a s'attiré des ennuis du a ces frasques avec la gente féminine et a tendance a prendre tout a la rigolade. les événements qui se produiront par la suite vont complètement changé le personnage (la mort de son père et de ses frères) vont l'obligé a agir et c'est suite a ce drame qu'il découvrira que son père était un assassin, s'ensuit une quêté de revanche face au templier qui aboutira a un combat a Rome (ce qui nous tease le prochain épisode).

    les villes ont chacun leur identité malgré ce gris qu'on peut ressentir de temps en temps (Venise est tout simplement somptueux), les missions sont très diversifié ( les missions de Da Vinci, la mission pendant le bal de Venise) les antagoniste sont intéressant (les Pazzi sont plutôt cool, Rodrigo Borgia qui dirige tout cela d'une main de maître) et bien sur le gameplay qui a évolué, nous pouvons maintenant recruté des dame de joie, des voleurs et des bandits pour nous aidé tout au long du jeu moyennant quelques florins, on peut bousculé les passants lorsqu'on veut se frayer un chemin a travers la foule, l'acquisition d'un pistolet, les assassinats exécutables par le haut , par les bottes de foin et même suspendus a un balcon.

    on peut également rafistolé notre villa a Monteriggioni et acheté des échoppes qui nous permettrons de bénéficié de réductions sur les armes et armures (qui sont aussi une nouveauté du jeu )

    tout cela pour dire que ce deuxième Assassin Creed a corrigé la plupart des défaut du 1 et reste aujourd'hui comme l'un des meilleurs épisode de la série pour moi!!    … Expand

    It is a sad story about a young man, who was the witness of a great injustice and had to grow up fast and revenge. Ezio's story is fantastic, i think, it somehow symbolizes our life.     In assassin's creed 2 you play as ezio auditore which is a great character that you will most likely fall in love with while playing this game. It has an amazing story that will keep you invested from start to finnish. The diffrent cities are beautiful and have diffrent soundtracks witch makes each and every place fun to roam around and explore in. Ac 2 is worth your time so play it. :)

And I find it hard to play because of how bad the climbing is. I will try to climb a wall and instead I end up jumping off the wall.. Also some missions you have to go to a target without being seen. You have to blend in with the crowd. But it doesn't work good and I end up getting killed. It really sucks. This game is nothing like Assassins Creed Odyssey..… Expand

    Me quedé fascinado con la ambientación de la Italia de aquella época,sabía que este juego había pegado fuerte pero nunca me imaginé que llegaría a tanto y mucho menos a gustarme por que era reticente a jugar a este tipo de juegos y este me eliminó prejuicios.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When it comes to a story, no other game that i have ever played can even come close to how incredible this game is. Ezio has to be one of the best protagonists in video game history, and he is at his most raw, cheeky and likeable. While also being at his most emotional, rash and naive. You experience Ezio's story from the moment he was born, then his teenage years, and then the telling moment of his families death, when you experience him develop into a man. A man driven solely by revenge and intent to find every single person responsible for his families murder and take them out one by one, and you follow his journey every step of the way aswell as his other journey, which is to find the Apple of eden, an ancient artifact the assassins have been hunting for centuries. On the journey you meet some of the best side characters in the series, arguably the best being Leonardo Da Vinci, who's partnership really does feel special. Then at the end of it all, after all ezio has gone through, killing every middle man and conspirator to the murder of his loved ones, he finally meets the man behind it all, Rodrigo borgia, the current Pope. But instead of killing him, spares his life, showing how much Ezio has truly developed from a boy to a man in his long journey.
    Now, when it comes to game mechanics, this game is superb. The free running, climbing and movement mechanics are smooth and rarely faulter. Also the combat is superb, for some people, the fact that you cant chain attacks leading to an easy wipe of a large group of enemies may be tedius. However i find it to balance out perfectly as it doesn't make the combat mindless and easy but actually forces you to think about your attacks and wait for the right time to counter, the only possible flaw of the combat is the limitations on different ways to kill enemies as it is usually only a few ways to kill certain guards.
    Overall, this game is as close to a perfect single player game that i have experienced.
    Unrivalled story-line, engaging characters, fun missions, emotional moments, funny moments, Fantastic environment, great modern world story integration with the animus story of Ezio. And finally an intriguing cliffhanger that leads perfectly, and directly onto its sequel, which is very close to this level of greatness.
    In short, it really is the greatest game i have ever played, and by quite some distance, and even after the possibly hundreds of times i have completed the story of this game, my opinion stays the same, and the games legacy will never be tarnished. 10/10 100/100 Perfection.    … Expand

The story of ezio's vengeance against the killers of his father and brothers was narrated beautifully and the soundtrack was perfect for the setting and the stealth and combat style were ahead of it's time .This game deserve the appreciation it got.

    I had no interest in learning about the Renaissance and I cared nothing for any of the characters nor the real figures that were involved. I just didn't care. Despite that, I did enjoy the gameplay and actually doing the missions themselves, I just didn't know why I was doing them nor did I care much.
    I played it right through to 100% and even got all the achievements for the Xbox 360 version. But I put it down and didn't go near the successors. I just didn't like Assassin's Creed II's narrative, setting and story.

    However..

    I recently picked up the Ezio Collection on PS4, which was my reason to give this game another chance, since I have a much better tolerance for stories in my games and no longer have a short attention span for it.

    The tables have turned, in more ways than one.

    I managed to play Assassin's Creed II in almost its entirety (when I say almost, I mean I didn't feel the need to do any side stuff after I beat the game, as I was satisfied with what I got by that point), and my opinion has definitely changed. Assassin's Creed II has a magnificent story and I felt rather attached to Ezio, and sympathised with him throughout the entire game. The side characters still, for me, left a lot to be desired except for maybe a couple (Mario and Leonardo).

    I pretty much binged every session i had with AC2 and I feel I really let myself down as an AC fan in general, as back in 2009 I felt I was in the low minority when I said I didn't really like it that much, skipped Brotherhood and Revelations and went straight on to AC3 and ended up loving that.

    But playing AC2 a mere 9 years and change after I last played it, I can definitely confirm it's up there as one of my favourite in the series.

    And while my opinions of the story, narrative, characters and setting has changed for the better, my opinion on the gameplay has likewise changed for the opposite.

    In a complete 180 when I originally said I liked playing through each mission, I can't say the gameplay itself has aged pretty well. I know I should really be looking at this as a game of its time, and it certainly was, but I can't help but ignore that AC2's controls felt really stiff, and almost unresponsive at times. When I say that, I mean I could be trying to parkour my way around a street, or on a rooftop, and more often than not I would accidentally run into the wrong wall, or fall off the wrong roof. The most trial and error I had with this game was not in its challenge of gameplay, but more the challenge of the controls themselves.

    The combat remains fairly satisfying for the most part, though at times it wouldn't register my attempt to parry an attack but that could just be me being clumsy with my inputs and not timing it correctly.

    Assassin's Creed II was a wonderful experience and much more enjoyable than my first time playing it. I absolutely appreciate it more than I originally did and I am very much looking forward to see how the direct sequel pans out, I'm excited as it's regarded as one of the best in the series.

    If you haven't played an AC game and are looking for a good way to start out, this game is very much available on modern platforms but it is little different to its original version, so if you have an Xbox 360, PS3 or even a PC, this game is very affordable. If you have a PS4/XB1, then the remaster is pretty much a bargain nowadays since it contains all 3 games for you to play with, just don't expect any nifty modern conveniences or additional content - that's the only thing that I would say would be a detriment.

    Assassin's Creed 1 is a safe one to ignore, I believe, as it's nowhere near as good as the 2nd instalment and the story is swiftly explained at the beginning of AC2.

    I enjoyed AC2 that much I was able to obtain the platinum trophy for it, making it the 2nd time I've gotten every achievement for the game. It's kind of ironic... the AC game I regarded as my least favourite, is the only AC game I have done the most work on.

    Busted controls but otherwise, a great story, best in the franchise. The controllers (like I said before), bad but gameplay was unique until it got overused in the later Assassin Ceed games. This game should have been like this trio of other of trio of Assassin Creed games.

    The first Assassin's Creed's charm was in the sumptuous graphics and straightforward action - that incredible climbing and free-running, and the visceral thrill of stapling evil people to the dirt with a wristblade. With AC2 the rest of the game has caught up with the brilliance of those central ideas to create a complete and coherent experience.     Assassin's Creed 2 is miles away form the first chapter. It's a whole new game, different in many aspects. The main quest is involving and nice to play, and the number of side mission and extra activities is impressive (and all of them are fun to play). The setting is peculiar and unique, and the panoramic views are sharp and, somehow, magic.
