  1. While the game's play control system can be a tad loose in feel at times, the overall experience is still solid and proves that you don't have to have a lot of bells and whistles in your play control design to make an involving and enjoyable game.

The Munchables is one those games that you know is silly, and you'll feel guilty for playing it, yet you can't help but love it. With a $30 price tag, you can't go wrong picking this up.
  3. For $30.00 there’s not much reason to pass this title by-- it’s a unique experience not yet to be had on Wii and will provide many hours of gluttonous eating fun.
  4. Like Klonoa or Zack and Wiki, The Munchables proves that “kid-friendly Wii game” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not worth your time. Fans of Katamari or just off-kilter action games take note: this game is surprisingly awesome.
  5. The Munchables is an enjoyable, original game and has a lot of personality and charm. While the main game is short and has some minor issues, the game has a good amount of replay value and is always entertaining to play.
  6. Loaded with charm, wit, and simple-yet-addictive gameplay, The Munchables is easily recommendable to anyone looking for a game that’s slightly out of sync with the norm. Proof positive that casual doesn’t have to be a dirty word.
  7. Great graphics, quirky sounds and a great control scheme are only marred by the easy difficulty and brevity of the title.

Cute vegetable-hunting platform adventure with bags of personality and satisfying gameplay. [Aug 2009, p.84]
  9. So, is The Munchables a good mid-range title? Yeah, it is. No one is going to confuse it for Super Mario Galaxy, but it's still a lot of fun.

Ultimately this is a good game brought to us by Namco Bandai, one of the largest Japanese companies, which is making the most of the Wii hardware, and not just for conventional titles.

The Munchables is a typical game for in between. Empty your mind and eat everything that comes in your way. It could've lasted longer, but it was a fun ride while it lasted. Namco Bandai is hopefully working on a sequel or maybe even a new Pacman, because there are a lot of possibilities with this gameplay.
  12. It's cute, addictive, and certainly simple enough that it's not going to stress anyone out, so it's a perfect game to plop on the couch with and relax.
  13. For those who like the "get as big as possible" mechanic or are simply intrigued by having to eat their way to glory, this game is definitely worth a look—especially since it's only $30 brand new.
  14. While The Munchables may not be the most memorable meal on the block, it’s still a sufficient dish that can be enjoyed by kids as well as older gamers with stricter tastes.
  15. The Munchables is easily recommendable to anyone looking for a simple and entertaining adventure.
  16. If you’re a younger gamer or are just looking for something fun and a little different, you can’t go wrong with The Munchables.
  17. Looks can be deceiving, and the looks of The Munchables suggest something for younger players, but it's tougher than that, and is certainly enjoyable enough for just about anyone to play (at least until the end, when the game becomes a tad too repetitive (though the pay-off is decent enough.))
  18. Taking a page from the Katamari, The Munchables fills the void of the strange and wonderfully weird.

The Munchables was a surprise for me. The game looked like another cheap cartoon knock-off, and ended up being very entertaining.

It is a silly, fun Wii game that is accessible to everyone and wacky enough that it will leave people perplexed or in stitches.
  21. If you liked Katamari Damacy, you'll definitely have some fun with The Munchables: if you didn't, you'll probably find this game dull, repetitive and far too easy.
  22. Minor graphical issues and an unbalanced gameplay.

    Charming. [July 2009, p.87]

More of a light snack than a hearty meal. [Aug 2009, p.74]
  25. Id love to say this was a GREAT GAME!! but i just cant i like it but after awhile its to repetitive to really appreciate.
  26. It's far from sophisticated, but it's so shameless and so strange that never becomes truly mediocre.
  27. The Munchables is a nifty little game, but it's all over far too quickly for us to recommend it as a must-have title.
  28. The Munchables provides a unique and wacky adventure that's fun for a few hours. Ultimately though, its repetitive gameplay and lack of challenge make it feel more like a slightly disappointing appetizer than a satisfying main course.

You're doing very little other than eating things, and the game's other ideas don't gel well enough to make it an experience worth more than the sum of its parts. [Aug 2009, p.130]
  30. The Munchables is a lovely game with a few problems. Ideal for casual gamers and for everyone looking for an easy videogame. Too short and simple, but with a cool style and an extraordinary spirit. May the poo be with you!
  31. It looks good, and the controls are fine, but it lacks variety and challenge making it a rental at best.
  32. There's disappointingly little to get your teeth into in this only briefly entertaining consumable.
