The best Sonic game I've played in YEARS. The graphics are awesome, the story is great, the gameplay with wisps and Sonic is the BEST! If you have a Wii or a Wii U, buy this game!

A great resurgence for the blue blur with good level design and gorgeous visuals. My only complaint is the slightly unresponsive jumping, but with Sonic Simulator and the terrific soundtrack, this game cannot be faulted enough to be considered a bad game, because it really isn’t.

By far my favorite Sonic game. It has an extremely creative story and amazing gameplay. Albeit the presentation and the way the game looks is kind of weak to me. Nonetheless, this is still an amazing game.

Sonic Colours is a great action-adventure ride across an interstellar amusement park that's filled with diverse planets to explore, solid levels to run through, and super catchy music to enjoy.
This is one colourful Sonic game to play.

Sonic Colors is a great game! It has a great mixture of 3D and 2D and the only bad things about this game is the bad jokes in the cutscenes such as "Baldy McNoseHair" and some annoying random parts of levels where you would likely die first try. Other than that, it is a solid 9 out of 10!

This game is loads of fun. While lacking in the multiplayer field, the single player has everything you want in a Sonic game. It requires quickness, carefulness, and lots of vibrant colors (duh). The Wisps are a cool addition that boost the gameplay (most of the time). Overall, an above average Sonic game that breaks the mediocre cycle.

Sonic Colors is a good Sonic game, nothing more than that, it has very nice graphics for the Wii and a good soundtrack, well done levels (to some extent) with great gameplay and wisps gimick.

However, Colors is a game full of defects that many mention in Forces, but forget that there is in this title as well.
Weak story with dialogues and very childish personalities, which doesn't suit Sonic, the game is easy and short, phases that are repeated and some last less than 1 minute, ridiculously easy bosses, in addition to repeating.
There's also the fact that it's called "3D Boost" is camera focused on 3D at high speed just like Sonic Unleashed and Generations are (with Sonic in boost phases of course), but it's 70% or more in 2D, focusing much more on the platform and having few moments of pure speed and testing the player's reflexes.

In spite of that Sonic Colors is a good game, practically without bugs, the title is recommended, but don't expect too much from it, it's another good game to zero in an afternoon, if you want a bigger challenge, make 100% that inclusive, the system Rank is one of the best in the series and also, it's not as easy as Generations and Forces.

It’s incredibly cliché nowadays to say that, “Sonic has had a rough history in 3D”. It’s certainly obvious, even to the most die-hard of Sonic fans. It’s certainly obvious, even to the most die-hard of Sonic fans. It’s not something that really bears repeating, but we do so anyway because for every high quality game that comes out, a Sonic Boom is sure to follow. It’s why it’s important that we savor and highlight the games that do work, to show that, yes, Sonic absolutely can work in 3D when given to the right people with the proper time and manpower. Sonic Colors was the game that Sega desperately needed to help clean up Sonic’s images. Sonic Unleashed, while a solid game in my opinion, was still bogged down elements that prevented it from being fully embraced. While Colors in hindsight can only loosely be called “3D”, that ultimately doesn’t matter. It was just a really good, fun Sonic game. That’s all we can ever ask for.

After the past couple of games’ emphasis on storytelling, Sonic Colors takes things back considerably. Eggman builds a giant amusement park in space as an apology for all his evil-doing, but Sonic and Tails don’t buy that at all and decided to check it out themselves. Sure enough, Eggman is using these cute little alien creatures called the Wisps to power up his latest schemes. Colors’ story is incredibly simple, light-hearted, and a bit too childish at points. A lot of the jokes are downright groan-worthy, but there have been several occasions where it managed to get a good laugh. This would also be one of the first games to introduce a new voice cast, namely Roger Craig Smith as Sonic. While jarring at first after hearing Jason Griffith for so long, I think he suits the role well. The voice acting across the board is solid from each character, and are able to make the most out of the material given to them.

The real meat of Sonic Colors is in its gameplay. It takes the core concept of the Unleashed Daytime Stages and makes it into an entire game. It’s not as blisteringly fast as that game, however, and instead focuses more on raw platforming. The 3D sections of this game are rather underwhelming as much of the time you are going forward in a straight fashion and not much else (it’s what I gave Sonic Forces crap for). Instead, the game heavily focuses on 2D platforming, and while the level designs feel rather rudimentary compared to other 2D Sonic games, it still provides a very heavy emphasis on exploration that make them fun to go through. That exploration comes in the form of the Wisps. They are essentially power-ups that provide you with a different ability, like turning into a drill, shooting upwards as a rocket or devouring everything in your path. The Wisps are honestly some of the best parts of the game, as unlocking more of them allows you to further explore previous stages to nab extra collectables, including Red Star Rings that unlock bonus stages to complete.

I think that Sonic Colors’ biggest accomplishment, however, lies in its presentation. The game looks outstanding for the Wii, with lots of bright colors and uniquely themed words to traverse through. The worlds being so fun in their designs and looks are the primary reason why I can forgive how simple a lot of the core gameplay is. There is just much detail and fun little touches like Eggman’s Egg Pawn robots dressing up based on the theme of the level, or Eggman’s hilarious intercom interjections, or the positively outstanding soundtrack. No joke, Colors has one of the soundtracks in the franchise. Top 10, easily.

While Sonic Colors has lost a bit of its luster since its initial release, it doesn’t take away the fact that I still think it’s a solid romp to blast through. The platforming is not particularly special, but the worlds, music and visual flare more than make up for the game’s shortcomings. It goes without saying that this is certainly one of the better 3D Sonic games you can play.

This game is pretty good. It doesn’t have any gimmicks that go to its own detriment other than the Wisps (that was a good gimmick). It’s just fun and simple with a little too much 2D.

This game focuses more on platforming than the high blistering speed action of the unleashed day stages and it works good. The wisps are great and are really well built into the level design and will be needed to collect most of the red medals. The only wisp that isn't great is the blue cube, it's just pointless and if you boost while using it it makes it run out faster.
This game's environments are beautiful. Standouts would be Planet Wisp, Aquarium Park and the Starlight Carnival. Great soundtrack and I literally can't get enough of the music from terminal velocity act 1.
The story is okay, but the plot is good. however, there are some cringy jokes in it that could have been avoided. If you collect the chaos emeralds, you can play as super sonic in the levels which is cool for speed running.
While this game has a lot of 2D, it's good 2d, not bad 2D like Sonic Forces.
Banger again, congratulations Sonic team and saga.

The game is short and the act structure really could use some improvements, however, this game came out at a time where Sonic needed to find it's footing amidst the criticism of fans and critics, and for that reason, the game fully succeeds at that, especially for the general audience on the Wii console. Overall, a great step for Sonic Team at the time to release a streamlined experience with one fun game-play style that's endlessly replay-able. Let's just hope the good writing and the varied usage of the diverse cast of Sonic characters makes a comeback someday, as that's what the series has been lacking for a far too long of a time. Expand

The graphics are some of the best on the Wii, if not the best, and the soundtrack is amazing. Controls are somewhat lose feeling, but they never really caused me trouble outside of a few section where I had to make precise jumps on small platforms.

Overall I really enjoyed this Sonic game. A real sense of speed and (mostly) great level designs really made it hard for me to put this game down. There were a few irritating sections, but the game makes up for this by making the levels not overstay their welcome. I've got to say that my biggest problem with this game is length. Some levels can be completed in under a minute and it only took me 5 and a half hours to beat the game. More skilled players could probably beat the game in about 3 hours. Still, the high replay value does do a lot to help make up for the short length.

In closing this a great game for Sonic and Sonic fans. After years of games that have disappointed fans it's clear that Sonic Team is ready to make one of gaming's most loved characters great again. It's not perfect but the good does outweigh the bad. If you are, or have ever considered yourself, a Sonic fan then this is a must play.

The only negative things I can find to say are as follows; the two player mode is kind of useless, sometimes during the 2D sections the camera will zoom too far out, the boss fights could have been done a bit better (except the end boss... that is awesome). Everyone, Sonic is back! It's obvious that Sega saw Mario Galaxy and thought it was a good idea, they applied some of it to Sonic and we have a fantastic game. This is the best Sonic has been in years. The only real fault I can find in the game is some of the level design can be a little off. But it doesn't really distract from the fantastic experience of the game overall.

The gameplay is fantastic, the graphics are breathtaking for a wii title and looks nice than many xbox 360 or PS3 games (no joke, check it out yourself), the music is great, and the story, while simple, is really well-written. I picked this game up with much skepticism because aside from the two Sonic adventures (some parts of them), I did not have a good time with the little blue hedgehog. His games got so bad over the years and it just made me wonder what the hell Sega was doing. But after I picked this up, played it, I was amazed as to how much Sega improved Sonic. Gameplay: The game, while known as a 3D Sonic game, is actually mostly 2D (about 90%), but for some reason, it works. There are 3D sections, but many of them require you to steer Sonic or Sidestep out of an enemy's attack or something, which can be fun, but is very unlike the adventure titles. As far as the actual speed sections go, they're great. You get boosts to go faster, you get to grind on rails, you get homing attacks, etc. As you play the game you'll encounter these little creatures known as wisps. These little cretins will allow Sonic, once he acquires them, to transform into different types of shapes. Some even let Sonic do the spin dash and light speed dash. The greatest things about these guys is that you don't have to use them aside from one or two spots in the game. They are completely optional. And that's how a gimmick should work: it shouldn't be shoved down a player's throat. After you fight some of the bosses of each world (which are really easy), you fight the last boss (which also is really easy and is Eggman), once that happens, the credits roll and you beat the game. BUT WAIT, if you replay the game again and try to get these red rings (five per level), you'll be able to unlock stages in gameland, which are Sonic Simulators that emulate genesis style level designs. These are a lot of fun, and if you manage to collect all seven red rings hidden in each level and beat all the simulator stages, you can unlock super sonic. Just like in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, after getting 50 rings, you'll be able to transform into Super Sonic, who is much faster and has unlimited boost. Only downside: you lose one ring per second and you cannot use wisps, but it's really fun using him and breezing through levels. No last boss with Super Sonic though =( But not a big deal. The game also features a challenge mode where you can go through all the levels in order without any interruptions from the hub world or cutscenes; you can't save your progress though, so if you're planning on doing it, make sure you have about 90 minutes to spare. its sort of like playing the genesis games, where there's no save feature (for Sonic 3, doing the no save file). I usually do challenge mode. Each stage also gives ratings, the highest being S, and the lowest being D. S ranks are very difficult to do in some stages as they require going through the stage fast, keeping your rings, and getting high scores with combos. My only problem with the gameplay is the slightly finicky jump and the fact that it's mostly 2D. But these aren't really much of an issue. Gameplay gets a 9/10. Music and Sounds: The soundtracks in this game are gorgeous, I especially like the Planet Wisp music. Every soundtrack is done so well and fits the world and stage they are in. I haven't been so impressed with a Sonic soundtrack, and I've played many Sonic games. The opening theme is also quite catchy. And the cool thing is, aside from the opening and ending themes, all the music is non-vocal and just instruments. Music is fantastic and it's just nice to listen to on its own. The sounds are also very well done. Voice acting is top notch (they hired new voice actors for Sonic and Tails who sound MUCH better than before), and the jokes presented are hilarious. The sounds made when hitting a robot are satisfying; it's just fantastic. 9/10. Story: Eggman's at it again. This time he's saying h wants to prove to everyone that he's good by building a giant amusement park for people..IN SPACE. But he is obviously not the good guy he makes out to be as he uses the Wisps to use this power and does so to destroy Sonic. It is up to Sonic and Tails to stop Eggman's plans. Simple, but good story. And I gotta say, the script is probably the best I've heard in a Sonic game. It actually made me laugh at some of the jokes that were said. Great story. 10/10. Graphics: The game looks gorgeous, especially for a Wii game. It's probably one of the best looking Wii titles out there. 10/10 Overall Sonic Colors is a very good game. I recommend it to all Sonic fans, and non-Sonic fans alike. This game gets a 9.5/10 from me. BUY IT. Expand

This is -- finally -- a solid step in the right direction for the Sonic game developers. I won't say it's amazing, but it is good. I'm always looking for entertainment, and I'd say this gave me that. Of course, I got bored eventually, but I got my fair share of joyfull, color-crazy, good old hedgehog gaming. Ah yes, Sonic the hedgehog.. One of my personal favorite franchises out there. I played many games in the past and most I really enjoyed where others didn't (Like Shadow the Hedgehog or even Sonic 2006).
This game, however, seems to be getting way more attention than it should. It's not a truly bad games by any means, but it's not the ''perfect'' 3D Sonic game that some people make it out

This game, however, seems to be getting way more attention than it should. It's not a truly bad games by any means, but it's not the ''perfect'' 3D Sonic game that some people make it out to be. You can read why in this mini review :)
First off, the graphics. I have to admit, for a Wii game this is VERY impressive. The Colors (No pun intended lol :P) are just glorious and one of the stages is really bright and beautiful to look at.
For the models from Sonic and his pal Tails in this game.. It could be worse. But that's the only bad thing I have to say about the graphics since they are pretty good.
Next up are the controls and the gameplay mechanics. This is where the game falls flat for me. You control Sonic with the Wiimote and Nunchuck combination which controls pretty good and naturally.. until you uncover the Wisp Powerups. They require you to shake the Wiimote/Nunchuck at the most annoying times and they don't last very long. You have several Wisps in the game; For instance, you have the Yellow Wisp that lets you drill under the ground. Fun, but if you don't pay attention to the time you are allowed underground you may find yourself dying. Next is the Cyan Wisp that let's you zip along certain points in the level. Convenient and sometimes fun to activate it at random points. There are many more out there like the Blue Wisp and the Purple Wisp, but i'm not going to describe them since I only have this much space for the review :P. The game is also very short. With only six worlds to explore it's not much of a challange. If you want to rush through it you will be done in less than three hours Pathetic. After you beat the game you may want to collect the Red Coins scattered throughout the levels but does anyone actually have the patience to do that? They played all the levels before and the level design isn't that good unfortunately..
Next up is the storyline. Most Sonic games that i've played so far have a pretty decent storyline (Anyone remember the awesome story in SA2Battle?) but the storyline here just feels.. empty. I know its supposed to aim for younger kids, but come on. The story here is that Eggman builds some sort of space theme park as an excuse for his past ''mistakes''. Sonic and Tails don't trust this, of course, and they head out into space to investigate. Yeaah.. really simple and the plot doesn't thinken anywhere later in the game. Pretty lame.
Next up is the soundtrack. As usual in all Sonic games (even if they are considered horrible) the soundtrack of most Sonic games is very good and memorable. Even today in 2013 people talk about the Green Hill Zone soundtrack from the first Sonic game or the awesome Live and Learn theme from Sonic Adventure 2. And to be fair, the soundtrack in this game.. isn't half bad. It's actually pretty good.
''Reach for the Stars'' is a fantastic theme song and the Starlight Carnival stage has the best stage themed music in the game. As for the rest.. they are good, of course like always, but not amazing.
Which is a shame, because I actually really enjoyed ALL the soundtrack in the previous game, Sonic Unleashed. But again, Reach for the Stars and Starlight Carnival make up for the lack of other memorable music in the game.
Overall opinion: Yeah, you may have noticed that i'm not to fond of Sonic Colors. The lack of interesting story, the overal short experience and the lack of memorable music in the game just had me say ''mweh'' when I defeated the final boss. It's not the WORST Sonic game out there, but it's just so laughably mediocre that I would suggest you try out Sonic Adventure 1 or 2 first The two first true 3D Sonic games and both are fantastically amazing to play through.

    + Awesome graphics
+ Some Music Pieces are amazing..
    - While most of the Music Pieces are just not that good enough.
    - Lack of a good story
    - Linear and boring level design

    Overal Score: 5.5

The wisps are a nice addition, and collecting them allows you to use them as a power-up. some early wisps you will encounter will be the cyan wisp (turns Sonic into a high speed laser) and yellow wisp (turns Sonic into a drill to explore underground). This whole purpose is executed very well, and it's fast and fun. The graphics are very nice. The backgrounds are bold and colorful. each planet has it's own theme, as you will be seeing a food themed planet with popcorn pits, an alien planet that Eggman has been to recently, a Tropical resort, and others. Cut scenes are usually interaction between Sonic and his two-tailed fox friend Tails, and I got a few laughs from these nicely animates cuts. One of my major complaints about the game was that I think it kind of feels short. Maybe it's because I didn't have a lot to do on the summer holidays, but this game is still HOURS of fun, as you will go back to levels to grab those hidden red rings or after you discovered a new wisp. The multiplayer isn't great, if any one of the two Sonics speed ahead then DEATH WILL HAPPEN *dun dun dun*

I really enjoyed this game. I highly recommend it to any owner of a Wii.

Graphics are a little TOO stunning for a Wii game and the gameplay is fun, but only fun due to lack of challnge and thinking. Cute cutsecens and what I can call ''the perfect small projecy'' for a Wii game. Catchy Muisc and good use of wisp Power. The bosses where okay and the difficualy balance was pretty bad since the whole game was super easy but until terminal velocity decided to show up.

    Introduction:

After seeing quite an improvement in quality the last time I reviewed a game and used a structured method I decided to try to review more in a similar fashion.
While most people consider Sonic Generations as the game where Sonic Team really cranked things up and put out a really good game, I consider Sonic Colors the first great Sonic game after things went downhill. Sonic Colors actually normally gets quite a bad wrap when it comes to people’s perception on the quality of the game, but I am about to tell you why anyone who says this game is bad is wrong.

    Plot:
Sonic and Tails are sitting around inside Eggmans new amusement park “Dr. Eggman’s Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park” the day before grand opening. Tails then tells Sonic that is seems that Eggman may even feel bad about all of the terrible thing he has done, but Sonic denies the idea and says that it must be evil. Then Sonic & Tails see Orbot and Cubot chasing around two wisps, upon saving them Sonic unwittingly uses one’s power to use the Cyan laser and dash forward at extreme speeds. Tails then creates a translator so they can talk to the wisps and meet a White Wisp named Yacker, who explains that Sonic was right, and Eggman’s amusement park was built for evil, and that Eggman is actually using the wisps to power the park. After finding out that the amusement park is actually part of an evil plot, Sonic sets out to put an end to it.

    Gameplay:

The gameplay in Sonic Colors is good and is very similar to the style of Sonic Unleashed and Generations, despite borrowing little to nothing from Unleashed. One major problem with this game’s gameplay/level design, is the extreme imbalance between side scrolling and 3D sections, the game is mostly dominated by (well designed) side scrolling sections with a large lack of 3D sections in most levels. This game, surprisingly enough has something major that Generations doesn’t, natural feeling physics. (ex. falling into a halfpipe will actually build momentum and fling you through the air. Although the gameplay in Sonic Colors is dominated by side scrolling segments it still gives a pleasing experience during both 3D and side scrolling segments, and both will give quite a unique experience. You move from level to level by going around on a world map in a similar fashion to Super Mario World. There are 6 planets each with 7 acts, however each planet has a few unique acts but unfortunately most of the acts are short and not containing much variety from the rest.
    Gimmicks:

Exclusive to Sonic Colors are a new creature seeming to mirror the role of the flicky, called wisps, the only real difference between flickies and wisps besides appearance is that wisps actually DO something! Wisps each give you a different one time use ability. There are quite the variety of wisps that you will find throughout the game:
    White Boost
    Cyan Laser
    Blue Cube
    Yellow Drill
    Green Hover
    Pink Spikes
    Orange Rocket
    Purple Frenzy

Each one of these wisps will be momentous in passing through the many acts and planets in the game.

    Music/Sound:
The music in this game is good and upbeat and generally fits in with the gameplay and environment, the games main theme “Reach for the Stars” was praised for fitting with the games general theme (colors) when the launch trailer released with it playing in the background.

    Graphics:
The graphics on Sonic Colors look very good for a Wii game. Sonic Colors’ graphics look detailed enough for things to catch your eye in pretty much every level. The level themes are very colorful and are interesting and each has it’s own unique theme.

    Aftergame and Secondary Rewards:

Now to speak to possibly the most painful secret to unlock in any game I have ever played, unlocking Super Sonic in this game. In order to unlock Super Sonic in Sonic Colors, you must collect each of the 180 (Mostly well hidden) hidden Red Rings, you will find these niched away in places that you can only pass through once per playthrough of the level or in places that are hard to reach. Once you get all 180 Red Rings, you must go to the Sonic Simulator, (Which the Red Rings unlock more levels for) and beat every one of the 21 levels, every three in a column gets a Chaos Emerald. Once you get all of the Chaos Emeralds from the Sonic Simulator, you can go to the Options Satellite and enable Super Sonic, who you will be able to play as in any normal levels, except for boss fights.

    Final Verdict:
Sonic Colors is a good game, not quite up to the quality of Sonic Generations, but it also had a few qualities that Sonic Generations didn’t, like the physics that allowed you to boost off of ramps to go farther etc. Sonic Colors was also the first 3D Sonic game that let you use Super Sonic regularly, although Sonic Colors has it’s problem, it was the first truly solid Sonic game in a while at the time.

    Overall, 8/10

Because of Sonic's rough times in the 2000s, I thought Sonic may be over soon. but when I played Sonic Colors, I knew his reign of horror was over. The story is quite simple; probably one of the most simple in any Sonic game. but it also manages to tie things together so that it doesn't stay too simple. this is just the way I like it in a sonic game, and I'm glad this plot wasn't as involved as previous ones. The gameplay is really great. While it is much like Daytime Stages from Unleashed, this game is full of just those stages, and I love it. though I can't help but complain that the zones are adding more acts for filler. about 2 or 3 acts will be within a reasonable stage time, while others range from 30 seconds to a minute and a half. but at least the soundtrack when I play these stages is great. Color's soundtrack is the best I have ever heard in any game. each tune fits perfectly with each zone, and I could easily remember what each zone sounds like. The new voice direction is great too. I found it pretty cool that Ezio Auditore is now voicing Sonic, and Tails' new voice actor fits perfectly. Dr. Eggman has his same voice actor, who still does Eggman excellent as always. The graphics are, like the title says, colorful. I must say all the colors make it some of the best graphics on the Wii. The Wisps, while a great concept, are probably my least favorite part about the game. each one feels like it's being milked constantly so that you always need to use it, and I don't understand why sonic can't do things like the lightspeed dash or spin dash, but can do them with certain wisp powers. The only one I really like is the drill, which helps when you go underwater. I love the fact that Sonic can now swim again. after being unable to swim for years, it's great to see water stages again, and this time, they aren't as hard as previous water stages thanks to the drill. A new aspect introduced in this game is red rings, which, when collected, unlock stages in the sonic simulator. the sonic simulator itself is kind of bland, along with its multiplayer, but it's the only way to get chaos emeralds, which, when all red rings and chaos emeralds are collected, allow access to super sonic. I haven't unlocked this yet, since there are so many red rings, but the fact that super sonic can now play freely in 3D stages is really awesome. In the end, Sonic Colors is not only my favorite Sonic game, but one of the best games I have ever played. while some fans say Sonic will eventually revive, or say it has been revived, I say this game brought Sonic back on top, and I would definitely recommend it to any Sonic fan. The level design is split up into 3D sections where you're encourage to travel at high speeds and 2D sections where you'll be doing your platforming. The level design is done in such a way to hide the controls short comings. In previous 3D Sonic games, the level design seemed to revel in forcing you to wrestle with the control scheme. In 3D, it's very difficult to control Sonic's side to side movement, good thing they just give you a straight shot. This alleviates any problems there would be since there's nothing to make it an issue. This makes for a good burst of speed before you get to a more serious 2D platforming area. These focus more on the wisps and Sonic's standard abilities. They play through quite well, and offer a good amount of variety and challenge. There are a few color powers that are difficult to handle, in particular the laser and the frenzy. Fortunately, the areas where you need them are simple enough, but when you're going for a red star ring, it can be downright infuriating how flimsy they are.

This game does offer some particularly good music. It may be some of my favorite in the series. Graphically, it's also very impressive, with a lot of moving parts and onstage action.

By aligning the level design and the control schemes to the various tasks of 2D and 3D, all the terrible camera issues and control issues that have plagued Sonic are minimized to a relative non-issue. Furthermore, with the ability to go through every stage and every boss, I can finally do a proper marathon without menu interruption, and the stages are all enjoyable enough that I don't mind doing so. I may just do a marathon right now.

Colours IS that awesome sonic game.

Same basic mechanic with a bit more diversity thanks to the wisps, a lot of fun stages to travel through, challenge at going fast, platforming, good tunes, amusement park, whatever fun any kid might want in a platformer is here.

I don't like the amusement park thing too much, it's a bit too easy, but they manage to play around it enough with different zones so it doesn't get too redundant.

Can't say I like all the stages, Planet Wisp has been a pain to me and I can't say all the wisps are great either(frenzy go home you're drunk, high and uncontrollable).

But even if the game has clunk, it doesn't in any way take away the fact that this is such a pleasant game to play through or speedrun. It's got all you'd want for a modern, well-done sonic game. 12 years after Adventure 1 came out, we've reached a level of quality equal to the original Adventure, WITHOUT a Big the Cat or an Amy Rose to control.

There are some levels that I had a lot of fun with but there were a large amount of levels that made me want to not even finish the game. The times I did find myself dying a lot never felt fair. Like one part where when I tried to double jump half the time nothing would happen. Or when I was on one of those trampoline things and it just stops abruptly. That's not a death you can prevent, it's just bad design. I think the reason people give it the praise that they do is that it's not as bad as Sonic 06. That's really what the game is. Hnnnnnnnngggggg, I can't decide which I like more, sonic generations on pc and consoles or sonic colors on the Wii, *sigh* I guess I'll go with sonic colors, I like the sonic unleashed daytime segments more than genesis style 2d gameplay

Sonic Colors was a pretty solid Sonic game. It's not my favorite Sonic game, but it did a lot of things right. It does kind of feel like just Sonic Unleashed with a little more to daytime Sonic and no Were-Sonic. But it has a lot of cool things going for it. To me, this wasn't a "Sonic is back" type of game, Sonic never went into a real "dark age", but this was still a pretty good game.Sonic Colors was a pretty solid Sonic game. Sonic controls pretty smoothly, though he looks a bit weird when leaning left or right. The Wisp moves are Ok, but they work. The humor is actually humorous at times. Overall, it's Sonic Unleashed without Were-Sonic and that's not a bad thing. Expand

This is why my favorite moments of the game were when Sonic was speeding through these levels, without obstacles or enemies, allowing me too take in the game's scenery. The music also assists in illustrating the individual worlds. As Sonic is the only playable character, the gameplay feels a lot more focused, as the player can get used to him quickly. However, the 2D platforming sections feel weak in comparison, as these are when Sonic slows down. The problem is that Sonic does not control easily when moving slowly in these sections, and these sections are too frequent. Also, sometimes when Sonic runs automatically, the game enters sections where the player only needs to move sideways or jump. These sections weaken the overall experience, as they feel like a cheap attempt to lengthen levels, almost like a mobile runner. Thankfully, these sections are not common. A good step forward, hopefully 3D Sonic games in the future can further expand on Colors. Expand

Sonic Colors is a fresh fun game that gets the series back on it's roots. I know handheld games do that but Colors can do it very well. Sonic Colors is a good attempt for a sonic games my only flaw is the motion controls because like why? :P

Sonic colors are day stages beginning to end, but instead of just raw speed we got more platforming in this game which I like, in unleashed the game was more of constantly blowing through the levels 85% of the time and their is still a lot of speed in this game but is mainly focused on platforming which unleashed doesn't do very well. Sonic colors main gimmick are the wisps, the wisps are like power ups that grant you special abilities when you brake them out of a capsule, there's white wisps that fill up your boost gauge, cyan laser that lets you become a laser and to get from place to place, yellow drill that lets you dig through the ground and discover what secrets are underground, orange rocket that blasts you up into the sky and slowly free fall down, blue cube that lets you make platforms when there are blue rings, green hover making you fly and letting you do the light speed dash, pink spikes that lets you cling on to walls or ceilings and can let you spin dash, and finally purple frenzy that makes you become a monster Pacman and almost eat everything, controls great in 2d but a pain in 3d. The wisps are fun to use and there for the most part completely optional. Sonic controls way better than he did in unleashed and he also has a double jump making platforming a little easier. The story is pretty fun and entertaining, sonic and tails finds out that Dr. Eggman has built an interstellar amusement park and harnessing the wisps hyper go-on power to rule the world, sonic runs into yacker, a wisp that tells sonic and tails just that so sonic stops Eggman and saves the wisps from his evil plans, it's a pretty simple plot and even for a sonic game it gets the job done, we also see that sonic and tails are having fun on this adventure that makes and it makes it feel like a Saturday morning cartoon. Overall sonic colors is a fantastic game, it's got a great story, awesome soundtrack, good level design and fun gameplay, If you enjoyed unleashed you'll love colors, I recommend this game to anyone. This game shows exactly what the Wii could do. Perfect graphics and good and tight controls. The only things that holds this game back is the 2d to 3d transition and the difficulty spikes. One last thing about this game being held back is that this is a sonic game, slow platforming should not be in a sonic game! The last thing I'll say is that the Music is Fantastic! Best soundtrack ever!

A great Sonic game with a beautiful soundtrack and level design. The only problem I have with the game is the story. The story is to cheesy and it doesn't want to take itself seriously at all.

One of the best 3d Sonic games out there, there is less 3d than you would expect tho. After a while I get used to control Sonic, on the first shot I wasn't happy with controls, but you need to give it another try. I would prefer if this game was a little longer. Looks amazing for the wii and music is also excelent.

-F**king remote controls. It's hard to control Sonic and the very first wisp is a shore to use because of the wiimote. I literally had to play the game on a pro controller.
-The story needs some work, but it's not as awful as people are making it look like. Mario has the same dumb story every game, so yeah there's worse out there.

It's honestly worth a try, but please buy a pro controller for the Wii.

An ok platformer for all ages. A large part of the game is filler with small levels. It a good game but I wish they trimmed the fat. The bosses are ok. Some of the levels are great and long but they are a minority,

The graphics are fantastic for the Wii, the gameplay is solid, the Wisps add immersion, and the level design is good. But the stages are short, there are too many blocky 2D sections, easy and recycled bosses, and a weak story. Sonic Colours is good, but not really as good as people make it out to be. There are issues that no-one acknowledges, but it's still good.

This game looks and feels great, but Sonic can feel floaty at times, and the new voice cast seems like only a mistake in my eyes. It's better than the DS version, but slightly.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is well written, and has humor well engrossed with it, paying homage to the series. Special nods would go to Baldy Nosehair, and the voice chip problem with Cubot, just name a few. The controls are spot on, and never once did I ever blame the game for me making a mistake, and losing a try (not lifes, tries). The fact that you have multiple control schemes and can even used the Gamecube controller (my personal choice and BEST way to play the game), making very accessible for those who dislike motion controls or wiggling the nunchakus around. The challenge is just right, even for newbies who have never played a Sonic game before. With multiple paths to take to reach the goal ring, with the aid of the Wisps, you have plenty of replayability for each level. The bosses can be a let at times, but the level design, music (Planet Wisp and Aquarium Park are amazing: in fact the entire soundtrack is wonderful to the ears), and even the few extras more than make up for the whole package. And with a nice two-player mode (think Sonic 2 and 3 for the Sega Genesis), you and a buddy will have lots of fun coming back to it over and over. I give this game the highest recommendation possible, even though it is on a Nintendo console, and not on a Sega console. Play this game, you will not be disappointed. Expand

the wii might have not have been as powerfull as the 360 and ps3 but sega worked with what they had and the backrounds our outstanding so are the models there like there from the hd verion of sonic unleashed.

    sound 10/10
the music is outstanding to the songs are great even better than sonic 06.

    story 10/10
its simple but great doctor eggman has captured 6 planets filled with wisps these tiny alien creatures from the planet wisp ( very creative guys ) that hold a great power that doctor eggman wants to use so its up to sonic and tails to stop him. thats all there is so the plot woundn't be all over like in sonic 06.

    gameplay 9.5/10
so remeber the day daytime stages from sonic unleashed ya think of a entire game with only those levels thats sonic colors sonic controls the same he can boost drift and homing attack but his spin kick is gone and has a real stiff jump not castlevaina stiff but close to it but he can double jump so you can represition yourself in air but most patforms a wider than a japenies game boy adanvce box so its not realy a promblem. scattered in each level are red rings get then all then you can enable super sonic. the bosses are great but there 6 bosses ( not counting the final boss)but half of them are clones but the clones bring somthing new to the table to make sure that they dont feel bland. my only complaint is that its to easy but it was made for kids so nevermind.

over all sonic colors is a great game do your self a favor and play the wii version this is my review of snic colors.

    Minha nota final seria 7,5/10.

Great game with catchy music, great levels and fun gameplay. The writing can be a bit "cringe" sometimes (but fortunately it isn't that bad) and some levels feel like extras (Asteroid Coster Act 3, i'm looking at YOU). Even so, if you are a Sonic fan, you should buy this game.

The Wisps are basically the powerups in Sonic Colors, it’s a great thing to add. The boss battles are kinda underwhelming, but obviously the best boss fight is the final boss of Sonic Colors. The visuals looks almost stunning and the music is definitely good. Sometimes, platforming can be quite tedious.

To me, Sonic Colors is great game, the visuals and gameplay are really smooth itself. When compared to Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations, I don’t really know which is better. But nonetheless, it’s was a good experience to play this game. So, the review is... 8.5! (8)

Sonic Colors is hands-down the best Sonic title to be released in nearly a decade, and definitely one of the best titles to hit the Wii in the past year.
